Andrew Rea is best known for his super-popular YouTube channel, Babish Culinary Universe, where 10 million subscribers tune in to watch him host cooking shows like Binging with Babish, where he recreates dishes from TV shows and movies. The focus of his new (third!) cookbook, Basics with Babish, is cooking mistakes. He cheekily reveals every single mistake he's made while attempting to cook each recipe, and gives readers advice on how to avoid them. Lots of iconic food and drink, from potato chips to champagne, were allegedly created by mistake. In this episode we focus on the chimichanga, accidentally created in the 1950s at El Charro in Tucson, Arizona. Is there a food you love so much you'd get it tattooed on your body? Andrew has a tattoo of one of the only foods he hates! He'll tell his story, and then YLM listeners call in to share their tasty tattoo tales with host Rachel Belle. In the last 11 months we've lost our dog Spoon, our cat Iceman and as of yesterday our dog Shark. Shark was only 2.5 years old and the picture of health and vitality. In December he was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and they only gave him 2 weeks to live. We treated him with chemotherapy and we pulled 7 amazing weeks out of him. He met his little sister Chimichanga and taught her all he knew. We spent every day playing with him, feeding him every treat he'd every dreamt of eating and loving the hell out of him. We knew this day was coming for a while but that doesn't make it any easier. Fluffy is a song about the love for a dog. This is a particularly good version from 10/16/18 Ryman Auditorium. Listen to it and remember that every day is a gift with your little ones. When they go they go fast so make sure you appreciate every waking minute. Goodbye My Furry Buddy.

Eric Powell is a writer, artist, and creator of multiple award-winning graphic novels including Hillbilly, Chimichanga, and my favorite comic of all time, The Goon. I've been looking forward to speaking to Eric for a while. His work is sensational and mixes a potent combination of horror, pulp fiction, film noir, and fart jokes into fun & poignant stories with compelling characters and exceptionally beautiful artwork. When you read through a book from The Goon or from Hillbilly, you will marvel in awe at how Eric is able to not only write all of that wonderful dialogue but create all of this sophisticated and incredible art in every issue. If you haven't read The Goon or Hillbilly books yet, do yourself a favor and grab some of them on Amazon, I promise you won't be disappointed. Even if you don't consider yourself a graphic novel fan, just get some. Eric has been putting out The Goon for over twenty years and has been working on a film adaptation with David Fincher and Tim Miller for quite some time. You can see the very exciting proof of concept on Kickstarter. When you observe the volume of Eric's creative output, it's pretty incredible and inspiring, I had to know how he did it. We get into this as well as comics, creative theory, writing processes and so much more, on this very fun episode of The Nick Taylor Horror Show. Now please welcome, Eric Powell. ----- Produced by Simpler Media

EPISODE 145: High Priest Rey is joined by first time guest, Austen Sprake of Trashed Talk Podcast, to chat about drinking, film making, watching good movies and the time when Deadpool took on Moon Knight! PHASE OF THE MOON: Waxing Gibbous SEGMENT: OVER THE MOON Arc Review Vengeance of the Moon Knight Vol. 1, issues #7-8 'KILLED, NOT DEAD' Released June 2010 Writer - Gregg Hurwitz Penciler - Tan Eng Huat Inker - Tan Eng Huat Colourist - Dan Brown Letterer - VC Joe Caramagna(7), Tan Eng Huat(8) Editor - Axel Alonso BARE BONES: (courtesy of Wiki) One night, Marc receives intel that a hospital has set off their panic alarm as a suspicious person has entered. Marc quickly takes off. When Moon Knight arrives, a pizza slice is left at the door, the patients are alive, and the staff has been rendered unconscious. When Marc knocks down the last door, Deadpool is hanging over a body looking to kill a comatose person. Marc throws a dart and the two battle in the room. Deadpool tries to explain that he is on a job to kill the only patient with his own security, but Moon Knight fights him away. When Marc returns to his lair, he looks up the comatose patient. Herman Goncharenko, a property developing mogul responsible for displacing families and kidnapping children to force families to sell their land to him, was Deadpool’s hit. Marc feels guilty for his interference as he believes Deadpool may have been right. Across town, Deadpool visits his employer, a mother of a kidnapped boy from Herman’s henchmen, is still without her son. Clarissa wants blood. Moon Knight later finds Deadpool; he won’t let him murder Herman, but he too wants to find the kid. The two go their separate ways as Deadpool taunts Moon Knight to give into his urges. Marc receives word that one of Herman’s shell companies owns an abandoned apartment. There, the henchmen are seen holding the child in a cage as Moon Knight lurks behind them... A battle erupts and Moon Knight takes out the henchmen. Just as the leader surrenders, Moon Knight is ready to brutally harm him but the child watches on. Marc instead renders the man unconscious and frees the child from the cage. Authorities arrive and take the child to the hospital and apprehend the henchmen. As Moon Knight looks upon from a distant roof, Deadpool kicks him off. They take their battle to a carnival in a local park as Deadpool is disappointed in Marc; Goncharenko and his men have been known to kill children but Moon Knight is still on his righteous path. Marc, learning of Wilson’s healing factor, decides to brutally chop him up in order to stop Deadpool. That evening, Marc comes to a fever dream about Clarissa and quickly rushes to the hospital. Following a nurse in scrubs, she walks past security and guards to Goncharenko’s room... it is Clarissa since Deadpool never finished the job. Clarissa take out a syringe full of cyanide. Confessing to Herman the pain he has caused her, she releases the cyanide into his IV drip. Just outside Herman’s window, Moon Knight stands hovering as he has witnessed everything and reframed from acting. MOON RATING (out of phases of the Moon): Rey:

USModernist took 25 fans of the podcast to tour Phoenix, Arizona last November. Phoenix is the home of the Chimichanga, which Tucson disputes, but more importantly for us, the city is home to some really great Modernist architecture. We saw the Musical Instrument Museum, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, Paulo Soleri’s Cosanti and Arcosanti, Wright’s First Christian Church, and the David and Gladys Wright House, among many other amazing buildings. One of these was Phoenix Central Library, designed by Arizona’s Will Bruder. Largely self-trained, Bruder apprenticed with Paolo Soleri in woodwork, metal work, and masonry and contributed to Soleri's book Arcology. After graduating from college in 1969, Bruder apprenticed with Gunnar Birkerts, assisting in design of the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston. He opened his first studio in 1974 and in 1987 was a fellow at the American Academy in Rome. Host George Smart interviewed Bruder in the lobby of the Embassy Suites right off Central Avenue, just a few blocks up from his Phoenix Central Library.

**Morbius, The Eurotrash Vampire** It's time to get neck deep into comics and manga again, and this week we've stolen "borrowed" one of the hosts from another show in the Geek Show's podcast family. He's [in] our gaffe now. Unfortunately we recorded this a few days before that movie hit cinemas everywhere, but we will be talking about it on the next show so don't worry. In the meantime we have a nice chat about the trailer for Venom, Joss Whedon's horrible script for Wonder Woman (which he has tried to defend), lots of hints and reveals from Mr MCU himself - Kevin Feige - about things to come, and to top it all off we also find out how he reacted to the … erm … jealously(?), of a famous science fiction director called James. After that it's time for our featured comics and manga which are: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime volume 4 by Fuse, Dust Ship Glory by Elaine M. Will, Avengers: Infinity War Prelude, Chimichanga: The Sorrow of the World's Worst Face! by Eric Powell and Stephanie Buscema, and The Initiates by Etienne Davodeau. Another “Previews” in the pullbox means another look into our comics future! This first half of our expanded “Previews” coverage focuses on the catalog's Green section, the back half that just so happens to cover about 75% of comics publishers. What impending December 2016 releases catch Mike & Greg's fancy? Magnetic Press/Lion Forge's Viewpoint! Love is Love! Our Mother! The Complete Crepax, Volume Two! Wuvable Oaf! Tomie! Heavy Metal! (The publisher) Alternative Comics! SP4RX! All that, plus the best place to go for unsettling sweetness, what project (probably) got Brian Michael Bendis back to the art table to write & draw something new, how Eric Powell makes the second helping of “Chimichanga” even better, Shin Godzilla and the comics circle of life, and just who convinced Disney that sending Mickey Mouse to Hell was a great idea. So a little something for everyone in part the first of our two-part “Previews” episode! Robots From Tomorrow is a weekly comics podcast recorded deep beneath the Earth's surface. Pepper's is the front end cafe (read: less fancy) for what is likely the most expensive restaurant in Las Cruces; The Double Eagle. A true chimichanga, in all its fried glory, one would expect exceptional quality given the outrageous price of this burrito. One would be disappointed. We certainly were. It wasn't a bad burrito, so much as thoroughly unexceptional. We even try to dumb it down to our blue collar standards by ordering it with Seasoned Taco Beef. This only reminded us how far from Taco Bell we had traveled. Also, we must have blown our load the past weekend with so many guests on the quest, as we sound generally drained and dull through much of the recording. Amy joins us with a burger and fries from the same establishment, and they turn out to be even worse than the chimichanga. Ben continues to eat vegetarian, Burrito Quest notwithstanding. Daniel worries about likely running out of burrito establishments in Mesilla sooner than expected.Ingredients: "Seasoned Chicken Breast, Slow Roasted Beef or Seasoned Taco Beef laced with Chile Con Queso then stuffed into a crispy flour tortilla, served with Pico De Gallo"Ratings:Ben - Making a joke about something being retarded, and then realizing there is a retarded person there. The joke is probably pretty funny, but it ends up pissing someone off.Daniel - When your infants only wake up once, and briefly, during the night, but after that one time you can't get back to sleep. Just like last night.BQ3 - Episode Eight"This Is The Best Burrito I've Ever Eaten" by Parry Gripp, used with permission. http://parrygripp.com/
