POPULARITY
Death. The word alone possesses the same tangible finality and permanence as the act itself. Death marks the end of one's physical life & existence in this world and can come as a tragic, sudden, and untimely end, or as the sometimes “welcome” final resolution of life following a long, protracted period of illness and suffering. “We got to live on the same earth at the same time as all these dudes…” Regardless of how it presents, death impacts every single human on earth. Whether it's the death of a loved one or our own mortality, it's the one thing we as humans all share. And no matter what we do or how we live out our lives, eventually we will ALL be (as Lemmy so poetically put it) “killed by death” …and nobody has any idea “when” or “how” it will arrive. “Do you know how many Junes they lived through?” Over the course of our lifetime, we all bid farewell to the artists which have helped shape us as people, providing us with what would become the soundtrack to our lives. Many of our favorite artists passed away before we even became familiar with their work, and many have passed away so recently that we are still processing their loss from the perspective of our own lives and the impact that their lives and their art have had on us. “All you gotta do if you miss them is press play…” Having said that, we are not here to bemoan the losses we've experienced in the metal community so much as we are here to ask you to JOIN US as we CELEBRATE the legacy of those we have lost who have blessed our lives so richly with the timeless art they created that will forever transcend death. So last month I started the annual classics series with the 2005 mix. This week I flipped it round and did a mix based on the month I bought the music. Since it's July that's the month I went with. I have done this a couple of times on Pressure Radio with a Junes and Decembers mix. It's fun and helps you reconnect with older music you may not have heard for years. When I started the mix and looked in my music folders I realised that July isn't a common month for me. Up to 2017 I have most years covered all the way back to 2005. In fact July 2005 is my oldest digital track. However in recent years I have been overseas in July , usually at Suncebeat and therefore don't buy music until I get back in August. As a result a lot of this mix is from pre 2015/6. Not that you can tell of course, unless you know when certain tracks were released.I tried to keep a pretty chill vibe for the majority of the mix. Not something I'm used to doing, but for the most part I think I did a pretty good job!It was never going to last the whole mix though and so in the last 30 minutes I let off some steam. Have to say July has some absolute bangers so the end of the mix is strong like Ox.For those of you in Sydney - tickets now available to my inaugural Classics event which will hopefully become a quarterly thing. First one is at Gitano in Double Bay on August 8th. I've been lucky to land Simon Caldwell and Jerry Drew to play alongside myself. The first event is all about the early 90's house scene.>>>>>>>>>Grab Tour Tickets
Sam Oshtry joins Sean Brace in Hour 1 to talk all things Day 1 of NBA free agency! They also hit on the Phillies as Zack Wheeler caps off one of the best Junes we've ever seen, and more.
Donald Trump had one of the best Junes of any modern president. U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded the lowest number of illegal aliens crossing the southern border, ever. His tariff policies did not collapse the economy. In fact, the stock market is nearing record highs. Iran's nuclear program was severely weakened without 30,000 people having to die in another endless war. However, for every victory, there is another impending challenge President Trump will have to grapple with argues Victor Davis Hanson on today's edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words:” “Bottom line: Donald Trump's going to have to decide, when countries come to him and say, "We'll run a deficit with you, we will have symmetrical tariffs," or, "We'll have no tariffs," is he going to take that or not? If Iran violates the ceasefire—and to what degree that would be true I don't know, but if we see trucks going into these enrichment sites or we find evidence of a new one, he's going to have to act and deal with a fallout. And then, of course, on the border, it's not going to be a problem of new illegal aliens. It's not going to be a problem of the 12 million that Joe Biden let in. But there will be some people that he'll have to decide, and I think it would be wise for them to have to pay a fine, get a green card, continue working, stay off social services, stay crime-free, and become a valuable green card holder.”
Looking back at Junes past.

Last month was the hottest June ever experienced in Athens, at least since records began over 150 years ago. In fact, eight of the hottest 10 Junes ever recorded in Athens were during the last 20 years and four of those were in the last decade alone. This is having clear consequences for the city and its inhabitants, as rising temperatures and protracted heatwaves, beyond impacting daily life, also pose a number of health risks. Eleni Myrivili, the UN Chief Heat Officer working with UN-Habitat and the Arsht Rock Resilience Center at the Atlantic Council and the former Chief Resilience Officer and deputy mayor for Athens, joins Thanos Davelis to break down the challenges Athens is up against, explore the efforts to build urban heat resilience, and look at whether Athens can serve as an example to other cities. You can read the articles we discuss on our podcast here:Athens sizzles with hottest June on recordBuilding Urban Heat Resilience: The Athens Case StudyHellenic Air Force receives 20th upgraded F-16 ViperSyrians attack Turkish troops after anti-migrant riotsProtests and arrests as anti-Syrian riots rock TurkeyWith Fists and Knives, Mobs Attack Syrian Refugees in Turkey

If you are seeing less color in your life this June, you can thank Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney. In recent Junes, “Pride Month” has been oversaturated with rainbow avatars on social media and 30-day corporate rebrandings. Following the backlash to the once-untouchable beer brand and Target's tumble on Wall Street, it seems we are seeing what corporations truly care about. It's the bottom line, not bottom-friendly diet ads. The successful boycotts of those two major brands have boardrooms and ad agencies playing it safe in 2023 and offer a glimmer of hope for traditional American values. “I entered this month dejected and gloomy. One week into it, my optimism has returned.” Jason shares his thoughts on the battles won in the culture war. “The other side lacks the courage for their alleged convictions. Corporate support for the LGBTQ is solely tied to money. The shareholders and owners are not willing to sacrifice a drop of market share to proclaim their belief that Dylan Mulvaney is a woman and that kids need gender-mutilating healthcare. We're fighting cowards. If we lose this war, it says more about us than them.” “Fearless” soldiers T.J. Moe and Royce White join Jason to discuss the battle plan moving forward. While major corporations like ESPN and Disney have backed off a blitzkrieg approach to June, they are still sending individuals like Jalen Rose to the front line. Jason, T.J. and Royce discuss Jalen and his eagerness to adopt the Alphabet Mafia's agenda. Plus, Steve Kim stops by to derail the show and discuss the future of Dave Portnoy at Barstool Sports, more NFL players getting busted for gambling, and Stephen A. Smith, the conservative "mouthpiece," according to Deadspin. We want to hear from the Fearless Army!!
