Send us Fan MailA shed is not a casual cart checkout. It is a high-trust, high-emotion purchase, and the online experience either builds confidence fast or quietly pushes your best leads to the back button. We sit down with Ashish Roy and Chris Dodd from Sensei Digital to break down what actually makes a 3D shed configurator convert, from guided design choices to the tiny details that serious builders care about. We talk about why “more options” can be the wrong move, and how an intuitive, guided flow helps very different buyers, from a tech-savvy first-time shopper to a retiree trying to make space at home. Ashish explains how Sensei approaches lifelike colors, model organization, upgrade clarity, and accurate features like door swing and interior context. Chris shares what it takes operationally to capture shed craftsmanship in software while keeping the experience simple enough for real sales teams to adopt. Then we get practical about revenue. You will hear how remote co-design can work through shareable 3D links, how AR “visualize in your yard” can change the conversation, and why attribution matters when you are running Google Ads or Meta campaigns. Sensei also walks through cross-domain tracking, CRM integration, and sending better conversion signals so you can optimize toward qualified leads and real sales, not vanity form fills. If you want your portable building marketing and sales process to feel modern without losing the craft, hit play. Send us a textAs we open this episode , we will see Bob Dole truly become the last man standing from an era of political figures who had dominated the scene for over two decades. There would be two Senate leadership races as George Mitchell retired as the Democratic Leader and Alan Simpson faced a challenge in his position as Bob Dole's number two man in Republican leadership. Both races would be decided by one vote. We will hear Senator Tom Daschle describe the situation that unfolded on the democratic side after his opponent, Senator Jim Sasser of Tennessee, was defeated in his election. That left Tom Daschle facing a last minute challenge from the much more Senior Senator from Connecticut, Chris Dodd. Daschle will tell the story in his oral history of how he won the election to replace George Mitchell as Democratic Leader. Then we will hear from both candidates in the race for Republican Majority Whip as Dole's longtime Whip faced a challenge from a rising political star in the Senate and former House Whip in Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi. It would come down to one vote, and Simpson would lose. That race would leave Bob Dole the only leader left from a generation of leaders who had been at the helm of government for decades. Representative Bob Michel had retired in the most recent election cycle, Speaker Tom Foley was defeated, Alan Simpson lost his Whip post, George Mitchell retired, and in 1992 George H. W. Bush had been defeated for President. The only member of leadership in either party that was still there was Bob Dole, and it would again come to him to keep everyone on track as we head into 1995.  Questions or comments at , Randalrgw1@aol.com , https://twitter.com/randal_wallace , and http://www.randalwallace.com/Please Leave us a review at wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!!

Why is political rhetoric broken – and how can it be fixed? Words on Fire: Eloquence and Its Conditions (Cambridge University Press, 2022) returns to the origins of rhetoric to recover the central place of eloquence in political thought. Eloquence, for the orators of classical antiquity, emerged from rhetorical relationships that exposed both speaker and audience to risk. Through close readings of Cicero – and his predecessors, rivals, and successors – political theorist and former speechwriter Rob Goodman tracks the development of this ideal, in which speech is both spontaneous and stylized, and in which the pursuit of eloquence mitigates political inequalities. He goes on to trace the fierce disputes over Ciceronian speech in the modern world through the work of such figures as Burke, Macaulay, Tocqueville, and Schmitt, explaining how rhetorical risk-sharing has broken down. Words on Fire offers a powerful critique of today's political language – and shows how the struggle over the meaning of eloquence has shaped our world. The book was the finalist for the C.B. Macpherson Prize from the Canadian Political Science Association. Rob Goodman is an Associate Professor of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University. He was previously a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University and a Core Curriculum instructor at Columbia University. Before starting his doctoral research, he worked as a speechwriter for U.S. House Majority Leader Steny Honer and Senator Chris Dodd. Goodman has published widely in leading academic journals. He has also co-edited ‘Populism, Demagoguery, and Rhetoric in Historical Perspective' published by Oxford University Press, 2024. Goodman is also the author of ‘Not Here' (Simon & Schuster Canada, 2023), a book on democratic erosion in Canada and the United States, which was a finalist for the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing from the Writers' Trust of Canada. Why finding Trump liable won't matter the way The Party imagines it will. Taking back The Culture using the simplest of acts: sharing pictures and telling stories The Party cannot smell their own stink and they still think they can affect people determination to back President Trump. Hence, their belief that the finding of a jury in a civil case that, in the 1990's Donald Trump battered a woman and then libeled here will end his career in politics. It won't. It will simply provide more proof that D.C. exists to project D.C., The Party protects The Party. If Donald Trump did these things, and I am not persuaded by a New York jury in a low-bar for evidence civil case that he did, then he is paying for it, now. If he did it, he should pay. No man should get away with treating a woman like that. No Bill Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, Chris Dodd, Al Franken, Jesse Jackson, Anthony Weiner, Jeffrey Epstein, Woody Allen or Roman Polanski. I think I have proved my point. On the more global topic of the day: we need to get better at using the tools of the media to de-program our kids--honestly, our friends as well!--from the lies of the media. In this episode, my friend John Tamny interviews me about legendary Wall Street leader and Blackstone founder Stephen Schwarzman's book What It Takes: Lessons in the Pursuit of Excellence. There are many fascinating insights and lessons in Steve's book which we can all benefit from.  A few highlights: Steve Schwarzman started Blackstone with a unique strategic plan.  There's a tremendous lesson in how he approached building his firm.  For any young man or woman who wants to build a business, or any type of organization, Steve Schwarzman's book would be a great place to start learning about “what it takes.” When Steve Schwarzman tells his team “don't lose money” it's about a mindset. Think through the downsides, what Jay Pritzker called “the horribles.” Both, in part, became billionaires from thinking this way. One of my favorite Steve Schwarzman Rules: “Worrying is an active, liberating activity. If channeled appropriately, it allows you to articulate the downside in any situation and drives you to take action to avoid it." Great advice. Private equity's been demonized by a lot of people with agendas and who know nothing about it. True, it's a competitive and tough business, but it's created a lot of value over the past 4-5 decades. Look at the record. Do companies become woke because their young woke new hires demand it? Disney employees clearly seem to be running the asylum, not its CEO. Is this also true for Wall Street? One of ways our culture has changed, and not for the better, it that we seem to have lost the ideal of pursing excellence. In my private equity experience, making an investment successful was exhilarating. Under President Xi, China's becoming “uninvestable” for Western businesses. Even Chinese private equity investors say China's turned hostile to capitalism. No longer simply a competitor, China's turned enemy.  In “What It Takes” Steve Schwarzman writes that had we not had FAS 157 mark-to-market accounting, the meltdown we had in 2008 would not have happened. I agree.  One history's great ironies is that Dodd-Frank, the bill to supposedly cure the ills of the 2008 meltdown, is named after Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, who pushed banks to drop their underwriting standards to promote housing. When you're running an investment company there's a real tension between the roles of CEO and CIO (chief investment officer). It's a balancing act you must get right to succeed. John Tamny is Vice President of Freedom Works and editor of Real Clear Markets, and author of the terrific book, When Politicians Panicked, which is about the government mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic. John's other books includeWho Needs the Fed, Popular Economics and The End of Work.           He asks some tough, penetrating questions and we hope you'll find the answers illuminating. Steve's book holds many many stories and lessons about “what it takes” to be both a leader and investor.            Hope you'll listen in.

His most recent book, Words on Fire: Eloquence and Its Conditions (Cambridge University Press, 2022), investigates the development of models of skilled speech in classical antiquity, as well as their translation into modern institutional settings. It proposes that these models remain a valuable resource for critiquing the current state of political speech. Rob is also the co-editor of Populism, Demagoguery, and Rhetoric in Historical Perspective (Oxford University Press, under contract). Welcome to Willimantic, home of the Battle of the Frogs! Willimantic is a census-designated place located in the town of Windham.  It was originally incorporated as a city in 1893 and was known as "Thread City" because of its thread mills.  The city prospered until after World War II and ultimately foundered in 1985 when American Thread, a major employer in the area, moved to North Carolina, and the city consolidated back into the town in 1983.  While there are numerous interesting facts about the town, the Battle of the Frogs is the most intriguing.  According to local legend, in 1754 the croaking of thousands of bullfrogs in a nearby pond caused a panic among the citizens who thought the town was under attack.  The story spread through the colonies to everyone's amusement.  The town embraced the story, even using a bullfrog as it's town seal.  The story of "battle" is now a point of pride for the town.  Willimantic also holds an annual boom box parade where residents tune there boom box to a specific station in lieu of having a marching band.  The town was also home to a number of notable people including serial killer William Bonin, Senator Chris Dodd, and football coach Skip Holtz.  We hope you enjoy our journey through Willimantic!

But it's fun to get reconnected. And you've been doing some really interesting things. So I’m excited to get into it. So his background, Matt is an accomplished technology strategist, data-driven campaigner, digital marketer and writer. He is currently the interim chief technology officer at Greenpeace International. Greenpeace is a global independent campaigning organization with offices in 55 countries. Matt has previously worked for a direct consumer renewable energy startup, international human rights, labor economic justice campaigning context, as well as in American politics and presidential incentive campaigns, as well as some other interesting blogging and content creation that you've made over the years, which we'll probably get into.  But, first, I really want to dig into kind of Greenpeace itself. So thanks for having me on. [00:02:28] BA: Yeah. Absolutely, man. [00:02:29] MBH: So Greenpeace is about to turn 50. I think in 2021 is our 50th anniversary. And the organization has its roots in anti-nuclear campaigning. And the story of its founding actually goes back to a bunch of activists in Canada who were really opposed to ongoing U.S. nuclear testing in...

This hour, we talk about what this will mean for students and educators, and how schools might plan to reopen in the fall. Also, in Connecticut black residents are dying from COVID-19 in higher numbers per capita than white residents. So what is the state doing to get more testing to vulnerable communities?
