A to ważne - zwłaszcza przed wyborami. "Demokracja umiera w ciemności" - takie motto przyjęła amerykańska gazeta "The Washington Post". Congressional Hearing: The CEOs of NPR and PBS faced tough questioning from Congress, reminiscent of previous hearings involving Ivy League presidents on anti-Semitism. Catherine Maher, the CEO of NPR, was particularly criticized for her past tweets and statements, which were scrutinized by Brandon Gill, a freshman House member from Texas. Key Exchanges: Maher was questioned about tweets related to white supremacy, reparations, and looting. She often claimed not to recall the context or denied the implications of her tweets. Gill highlighted contradictions in Maher's statements, pointing out her previous calls for reparations and her views on looting. Maher's Background: Maher has a history of working with various organizations, including the Council on Foreign Relations, UNICEF, the National Democratic Institute, the World Bank, Access Now, and the Wikimedia Foundation. Her testimony was seen as evasive and out of touch, drawing parallels to past controversial testimonies by other leaders. Filibuster Record: We also mention Senator Cory Booker's record-breaking filibuster, surpassing Strom Thurmond's previous record. Senator Ted Cruz shared his experience and advice on filibustering, including practical tips like wearing comfortable shoes and drinking minimal water. Tariffs and Economic Policy: We discuss President Trump's use of tariffs as leverage and economic policy, highlighting the immediate and long-term impacts on the economy. The Tax Foundation's analysis predicts significant revenue from tariffs but also potential negative effects on GDP and household income. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. In this episode I'm interviewing the leader of a new Canadian political party, the Canadian Future Party. Their website has the following statement that I liked, “The CFP believes people from every corner of the country want to be united behind a common set of ideals: democracy, the rule of law, collective action, and individual rights. A country where you can live as you like, love who you want, and in exchange, you work hard, and we collectively agree on a common set of rules to let us live our different lives, together. Where decisions are based on evidence.” This sounds like they've been listening to my podcast. Dominic Cardy is the leader of the Canadian Future Party. Our episode today focuses on anti-corruption messaging: what messaging has looked like in the past, the challenges and risks it poses, and novel approaches that could yield better results. Holly Sandalow, Program Officer at CIPE's Anti-Corruption & Governance Center, sits down with Caryn Peiffer, Associate Professor in International Public Policy and Governance at the University of Bristol, and Nic Cheeseman, Professor of Democracy at the University of Birmingham, who have authored the new How-to Guide to Anti-Corruption Messaging in partnership with CIPE and with support from the National Democratic Institute. Anti-corruption campaigns have been a staple of both foreign aid programming and civil society over the last 30 years, and there is often an element of awareness-raising that involves producing messages about the harm that corruption can do. There is growing concern, however, that anti-corruption messages may be ineffective—or even do more harm than good—in part because they are not being tailored, targeted and tested to make sure they have the desired effect. Drawing upon their own research and studies by fellow academics about the impacts & efficacy of anti-corruption messaging, Peiffer and Cheeseman discuss the risks of deploying messages that have not been rigorously tailored, targeted, and tested. Listen in to hear what ideas they have for crafting more effective messaging campaigns.

This week we get former PC Cabinet Minister Dominic Cardy on the show to have a conversation about New Brunswick Politics. It's been a long time coming to be sure. We speak on a range of topics from the plight of democracy, the Canadian Future Party, and the New Brunswick political landscape.  Wikipedia Bio Dominic William Cardy[1] MLA (born 25 July 1970) is a Canadian politician and Member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. From the 2018 New Brunswick general election until his expulsion from the caucus in October 2022,[2] Cardy represented the electoral district of Fredericton West-Hanwell for the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. He now sits as an independent.[3] During his time in government he was the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development under Blaine Higgs. Since September 2023, Cardy has been the interim leader of the Canadian Future Party, a moderate centrist federal political party which broke away from the Conservative Party of Canada.[4] Prior to being elected to the New Brunswick legislature, Cardy served as chief of staff of the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick caucus and had previously been leader of the New Brunswick New Democratic Party from 2011 to 2017. Early life [edit] Born in the United Kingdom, Cardy moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick with his family when he was a child.[5] He attended Dalhousie University and graduated with a political science degree.[5] Cardy worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs in 2000 on projects to increase public support for the banning of land mines[5] and for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) between 2001 and 2008. He served as a senior staff member and then country director for NDI in Nepal, Bangladesh and Cambodia.[6] Political career [edit] While a student at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Cardy was elected President of the Nova Scotia NDP's youth wing. He then worked as a party campaigner, political assistant to an NDP MP in Cape Breton, and managed several campaigns at the municipal and federal level.[5] In 2000, Cardy co-founded NDProgress, a pressure group within the NDP that advocated the modernisation of the party's governance structures and was sympathetic to the Third Way.[3] In writing about the debate within the NDP prior to its 2001 convention between the New Politics Initiative and those such as NDProgress, Cardy wrote "Some want to see the NDP recreated as a mass party based on the ideas of the traditional left, but infused with the energy of the new social movements and the anti-globalization activists. And there are those pushing from another direction, taking inspiration from the European socialists. If I had my choice I would fall firmly into this camp, those who want the party to follow the path laid by social democrats like Gary Doer, Tony Blair and Gerhard Schröder."[7] He is also an admirer of US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.[8][self-published source] Cardy was campaign director for the NDP in the 2010 provincial election.[9] Provincial politics [edit] NDP leader [edit] Cardy was acclaimed party leader on 2 March 2011 after the only other candidate for the position, Pierre Cyr, was disqualified from the party's 2011 leadership election.[9] At the 2012 New Brunswick New Democratic Party convention, Cardy received an 82 per cent vote of confidence in his leadership from the assembled delegates.[10] During the 2012 federal NDP leadership race, Cardy backed Thomas Mulcair, and was one of the introductory speakers at his campaign launch. Cardy was the NDP's candidate in a 25 June 2012 provincial by-election in Rothesay, coming in third with 27 per cent of the vote. As leader, Cardy recruited a slate of candidates that included several prominent former Conservative and Liberal politicians including former Liberal cabinet minister Kelly Lamrock in Fredericton South; Bev Harrison, a former Conservative and Speaker of the legislature, in Hampton; former Liberal MLA Abel LeBlanc in Saint John-Lancaster and former Liberal candidate John Wilcox in Rothesay.[11] Former party leader Allison Brewer endorsed the Greens due to the policy positions of Cardy's NDP.[12] In the 2014 provincial election, Cardy ran as the party's candidate in Fredericton West-Hanwell.[12] Though it received 12.98 per cent of the vote in the 2014 provincial election, an all-time high for the NB NDP and its predecessor, the CCF, the party won no seats in the provincial legislature. Cardy himself lost to Brian Macdonald in Fredericton-Hanwell, and announced in his concession speech that he would resign as party leader effective at the party's next convention,[12] which has been postponed to January 2015. Cardy faced pressure to rescind his resignation and run in the Saint John East by-election which was called following the surprise resignation of newly elected Liberal MLA Gary Keating on 14 October 2014.[13] Cardy announced on 21 October that he would be standing in the by-election, scheduled for 17 November,[14] and delayed his resignation.[15] Cardy placed third in the by-election with 21.88 per cent of the vote.[16] Cardy agreed to remain as leader after the party's executive rejected his resignation on 10 December 2014 and a letter was signed at the party's provincial council by supporters and former candidates urging him to stay on. The party also offered Cardy a "livable" salary beginning in 2015 due to its improved financial position. Cardy had been working as leader on a volunteer basis since assuming the position in 2011 and had no legislative salary as he was not a member of the provincial legislature.[17] In early 2015, federal NDP MP Yvon Godin (Acadie—Bathurst) criticised Cardy's leadership and its conduct in the election campaign saying that Cardy had moved the provincial party too far to the centre. "The problem, I think, with the provincial party, with Dominic, was that I think he was too much to the right to even be in the centre, and I think people read into that," said Godin who added: "I think it did hurt the party. People were looking for the NDP, they were doing really well, and [voters] wanted change from the existing parties that we have now, who are serving the big corporations and forgetting about the people. I think that's what happened."[18] In the summer of 2016, Cardy expressed his support for the proposed Energy East pipeline and supported Alberta NDP Premier Rachel Notley's position against the Leap Manifesto.[19] He had earlier refused to endorse federal NDP leader Thomas Mulcair's leadership, saying he was troubled by positions taking by the federal party during the 2015 federal election, and skipped the April 2016 federal party convention along with the leadership review that occurred during the meeting.[20] Resignation from the NDP [edit] Cardy resigned as party leader, as well as resigning his membership of both the federal and New Brunswick NDP,[21] on 1 January 2017, complaining of party infighting which he attributed to "destructive forces" colluding with CUPE New Brunswick, the province's largest public-sector union against his leadership.[22] Cardy said that he "cannot lead a party where a tiny minority of well-connected members refuse to accept the democratic will of the membership." He added that "[l]imited time and energy is being wasted on infighting before the election," and that "'Some New Democrats unfortunately believe change and openness have had their time. They want to return to an old NDP of true believers, ideological litmus tests and moral victories."[23] Cardy claimed that what he described as his "progressive" platform had been thwarted by both federal and provincial party members and denounced the federal party's non-interventionist stance on the Syrian Civil War as antithetical to his beliefs.[22] Conservative politics [edit] Cardy's appointment as strategic issues director for the opposition Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick was announced by party leader Blaine Higgs on 27 January 2017.[24] Cardy said it is "not my intention" to run for a legislative seat as a Progressive Conservative candidate but that a "great many" of his former colleagues in the NDP would be joining the Progressive Conservatives.[24] In April 2017, Cardy was promoted to the position of chief of staff to the official opposition New Brunswick Progressive Conservative caucus. Later that month he endorsed Maxime Bernier for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.[25] Cardy was elected in the 2018 provincial election as the PC candidate in Fredericton West-Hanwell. He had run unsuccessfully in 2014 in the same riding as a New Democrat.[26] Cardy was re-elected in the 2020 provincial election. Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development [edit] This section needs expansion with: information about the 2021 CUPE strike. You can help by adding to it. (October 2021) Cardy was appointed as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development on 9 November 2018.[27] During his time as department minister, Cardy signed the original version of Policy 713, which took into effect on August 17, 2020.[28] Removal of Chinese cultural programs from New Brunswick schools [edit] Minister Cardy spearheaded a plan to remove the Confucius Institute from all New Brunswick schools.[29] While the educational programs for elementary and middle schools were removed for the 2019–2020 school year, high school programs will not be removed until 2022.[29] Resignation [edit] Cardy resigned from his position as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Education on October 13, 2022.[30] Announcing his resignation on Twitter, Cardy explained that "At some point, working style and values have to matter." His resignation letter offered a more detailed explanation,[31] citing Premier Higgs' behaviour in a series of incidents. Cardy initially commitment to staying on as a Progressive Conservative but was expelled from caucus a day after resigning as minister.[32][2][3] He was replaced as minister by Bill Hogan.[33] Independent MLA [edit] Cardy remained in the legislature as an independent MLA for the rest of his term, while announcing he would not be running as a candidate in the 2024 New Brunswick general election.[4] Cardy said he would be voting for Susan Holt and the New Brunswick Liberal Party in the upcoming election in June 2024.[34] Federal politics and further activities (2023–present) [edit] On September 20, 2023, Cardy announced that he was in the process of founding a new federal political party, tentatively named the "Canadian Future Party" to occupy the middle ground between the Justin Trudeau-led Liberal Party of Canada and the Pierre Poilievre-led Conservative Party of Canada. Prior to its launch as a party, the group had been known first as "Centre Ice Conservatives" and then as "Centre Ice Canadians."[35][4] On July 22, 2024, Elections Canada recognized the Canadian Future Party as eligible for registration, pending it standing a candidate for election.[36][37] In July 2024, Cardy was arrested in Toronto for disturbing the peace after engaging in a confrontation at a pro-Palestine protest. According to Cardy, he chanted "Free Palestine from Hamas". Authorities stated that Cardy "behaved in a confrontational manner towards other protesters and did not follow police directions" to leave the area. He was released without charges.[38][39]

Episode 169: Engendering Inclusive Politics: Gender Quotas in Morocco's Legislatures In response to the February 20 movement, the Moroccan government passed electoral laws that institutionalized and expanded gender quotas at the national and local levels, enabling women to win an unprecedented number of seats in the 2015 and 2016 elections. In this podcast, Delana Sobhani examines how reserved seats in the House of Representatives and communal councils have affected women's substantive representation (i.e., the representation of their policy preferences and priorities). She has worked with Professor Hanane Darhour at Université Ibn Zohr and the National Democratic Institute to investigate whether gender quotas can empower women as visible citizens whose interests are included in their communities' legislative agendas. Delana Sobhani received her BS in International Political Economy from Georgetown University in 2018. After working as a data analyst for two years, she pursued a Fulbright grant to study the nuanced impacts of gender quotas. Delana has worked with the Ibn Zohr University in Agadir and the National Democratic Institute in Rabat to examine the effects of reserved seats in Moroccan legislatures on women's representation. With Nina Jankowicz, author of How to Be a Woman Online: Surviving Abuse and Harassment, and How to Fight Back. Whether you're on social media, streaming platforms, game sites, or dating, messaging, and meeting apps, if you're a woman, girl, or Two Spirit, trans, or non-binary person, you're at greater risk of hate, harassment, and violence.   1 in 5 women experience online harassment in Canada. Young women, racialized women, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people are amongst those who face higher risks. Canada's rising rate hate crimes is in large part due to increased hate in digital spaces against women, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and targeted ethnic and religious groups.  Gendered digital hate, harassment, and abuse happens every day. It's pervasive, urgent, and growing. You deserve to be safe and free from harm.  Over coming months, we're delving into this with experts and content creators, releasing in-depth episodes every week. We'll offer practical tips to help you in your digital life, and we'll talk about what it means to “take back the tech” for all of us.  Nina Jankowicz joins us today, an internationally-recognized expert on disinformation and democratization and the author of two books: How to Lose the Information War (Bloomsburg Academic, 2020) and How to Be A Woman Online (Bloomsburg Academic, 2022), an examination of online abuse and disinformation and tips for fighting back. She is Vice President at the Centre for Information Resilience, a non-profit focused on countering disinformation. She has advised governments, international organizations, and tech companies, and testified before the US Congress, UK Parliament, and European Parliament.   In 2022, Jankowicz was appointed to lead the US Disinformation Governance Board, an intra-agency best practices and coordination entity at the Department of Homeland Security; she resigned the position after a sustained disinformation campaign. From 2017 to, 2022, she has held fellowships at the Wilson Center, where she led research about the effects of disinformation on women and freedom of expression. She advised the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on strategic communications under the auspices of a Fulbright-Clinton Public Policy Fellowship in 2016 and 2017. On the face of it, the global outlook for democracy looks pretty bleak. Democratic norms are eroding all over the world. According to International IDEA, ‘half of the world's democracies are in retreat'.In Tunisia we have seen President Saied dismiss parliament and re-write the constitution. In Hungary, President Orbán has packed the courts and attacked the press. And in the US, Trump refuses to accept the results of an election he lost, inciting an insurrection to overturn them.Against this backdrop, and of course Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the US recently co-hosted the second Summit for Democracy to bring attention to the threats it faces. But will the promises made at the summit hold any weight, or was this more about geopolitical interests? And what can the US and allies do to effect democratic change abroad given the challenges they face at home? This episode explores these questions, and asks whether the whole notion of 'democratic backsliding' is a Western lens that ignores more diverse and innovative processes of political change.SpeakersSara Pantuliano (host), Chief Executive, ODIIdayat Hassan, Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development, AbujaSandra Pepera, Director for Gender, Women and Democracy at the National Democratic Institute, Washington DCSamuel Sharp, Senior Research Officer, Politics and Governance, ODI

Corina Rebegea, an Anti-Corruption Advisor at the National Democratic Institute, joins CIPE's Anti-Corruption & Governance Center (ACGC) podcast to discuss how to craft effective messaging that supports anti-corruption campaigns during windows of opportunity. Her report, The Role of Anti-Corruption Communications in Sustaining Integrity Reforms, highlights specific ways to design effective anti-corruption communication campaigns to earn popular support for government integrity reforms. Drawing on her years of experience developing strategies to promote good governance and counter disinformation, Rebegea reviews past research and points to ways to cultivate hope in place of cynicism.  Listen now to hear Rebegea share emerging lessons from anti-corruption campaigns and potential avenues for future research. One major finding in the review is that sometimes anti-corruption campaigns can actually backfire and potentially even create apathy among citizens about the fight against corruption. These takeaways can help guide reformers during windows of opportunity in tailoring their anti-corruption messaging to avoid common pitfalls. This episode is hosted by Richard Christel, a Program Officer with ACGC who leads the Anti-Corruption Rapid Response Program.

In today's episode, I continue discussing the formation of the Disinformation Governance Board and the support it's getting from spreaders of disinformation. It's clear the newly named Director, Nina Jankowicz is the poster child for spreading many of the false news stories when they were first being parroted by most of the legacy media and Big Tech. She just naturally goes with the Leftist narrative and never stopped to question the veracity of the news she was simply regurgitating. This leads me to remind everyone that journalism cannot exist if those in the profession lack two very basic traits. The first is to have a natural curiosity. It's great to have a source tell you something, but there needs to be a piece that wants to know more, to dig deeper, to not just rely on one source. Even if the source is impeccable, having a natural curiosity will drive you to ask follow-up questions meant to confirm you've gotten the whole story. But, along with curiosity, a real journalist must also exhibit a healthy degree of skepticism. Even if you really want to believe the story, you have to always be mindful that belief and truth are two separate things. Just because someone really believes what they are telling you, doesn't make it true. It may “feel” true to them, but facts to exist in the emotional space. Feelings have nothing to do with facts. When journalists fail to question what they are hearing or learning, they are no longer in the news business, but in the propaganda business. Brian Stelter of CNN is an amazing propagandist. He is so good at presenting his argument (or story) in a way that makes it sound so believable. Yet, all it takes is just a fingernail scratch below the surface to see that it's all built on a narrative, which has nothing to do with truth. As a member of the press, he seem not only okay with government censorship, but also mocks those who seem against it. Might we remind him and all others in the press of what the First Amendment says and why it was created in the first place? Whether it's Moira Whelan, Director of National Democratic Institute, CNN Media Analyst David Zurawik or CNN's Brian Stelter himself, what they are doing is as far away from journalism as they can get for their audience. They are literally saying the vast majority of Americans “don't think” and cannot be trusted with freedom of speech. Freedoms must be curtailed, regulated, moderated and controlled. What they are really saying is they should have the freedom to speak, but no one else. Unfortunately, in their near-sighted zealotry, they are missing the danger of what happens when the Executive branch swings over to a Republican president? Will they be equally happy with that administration having the power to curtail the speech they don't like? This is why the Founding Fathers were very clear about the freedoms we have and why government must be forbidden from trampling on them. Our freedoms should not be subject to the political whims of the day, but rather a pillar of certainty designed to withstand whichever way the political winds blow. This week we welcome Brian Lester and Roger Berry for a discussion on mold remediation and cleaning products. Brian has been doing remediation for nearly 25 years and Roger is an entrepreneur and Founder of SUDOC, he also has a lengthy and fascinating history in world affairs. The Z-man is intrigued by the product they have developed and when the Z-man is takes notice of a cleaning product it's a good bet there is something there. We'll LEARN MORE today. Brian Lester has been in the cleaning and restoration business since 1998 when he started as a carpet cleaner doing water extractions with a portable extraction machine. He has managed 1000s of drying jobs as well as countless mold remediation projects. He is currently the President of Indiana Mold Remediation and work with his brother and best friend providing remediation work to all of central Indiana. Brian also  represents Dot cleaner as a product specialist having taken part in the design and implementation of the dot cleaning product directly into the remediation market. Dilute oxidation technology is new technology developed at Carnegie Mellon University. His friend Terry Collins is the inventor. The technology, which they refer to as the NT7 molecule is an oxidizing catalyst which mimics the action the takes places in the human body. They use this new technology because it reduces the chemical burden of remediation contractors.  Because Dot is a dry form product, their waste and shipping burden is markedly lower. Roger Berry is a passionate and experienced CEO and investor in high-potential technology companies with a focus on sustainability. Two decades plus of experience in private equity, covering fundraising, team incubation, deal due diligence, sustainable technology development and ultimately as CEO for a series of technology companies, has prepared Roger for his current role in building a transformative sustainable chemistry company in Sudoc. Roger has experience in analyzing and managing turnarounds and start-up ventures. Roger was a Partner with TEM Capital, an early-to-growth stage fund manager focused on clean energy and sustainable resources. On behalf of TEM, Roger served as CEO of two businesses including Clean Electricity Generation (CEG), a company with proprietary clean energy technology. Roger was Head of Group Funds and Investor Relations for Climate Change Capital, a fund manager with over $1.6 billion of assets. From 2000 to 2006, Roger was a Managing Partner and co-founder of Liberty Global Partners, an advisory and placement firm focused on emerging markets private equity. Liberty Global Partners raised significant commitments from institutional investors and led the creation of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association. Roger had formative experiences in the United States Congress and First Lady Hillary Clinton's health care task force. He subsequently worked in international development and conflict resolution. Roger draws inspiration from the times he spent with historic figure Nelson Mandela and other leaders of South Africa's transition to democracy. He first met President Mandela in 1993, before he became President, where he helped coordinate his testimony in front of the congressional International Affairs subcommittee on Africa. He subsequently went to work for the National Democratic Institute, living in Southern Africa and supporting the new leadership to establish key legislative processes. While in South Africa, he was also part of a team that facilitated discussions for the conflicted parties of Northern Ireland with the leadership of South Africa's government including President Mandela. This event was credited as a helpful step in the process of achieving reconciliation in Northern Ireland. Motivated by the impact of learning, Roger developed and co-teaches a course on private equity for the International Business Program at Tufts University Fletcher Graduate School. Roger serves on several Boards including the Managing Board of Aptima Ventures, the commercialization arm of Aptima Inc, a company that has done over $300 million of R&D on how technology and data can assess and enhance human performance for NASA, the US military and various agencies of health. Roger is the co-chair of the Harvard Alumni Committee for Cambridge, which is responsible for interviewing all of the city's applicants to the college. Roger is an honors graduate of Harvard University (1990) where he advanced to the number two position on the nationally ranked division one tennis team. He lives in Cambridge, MA with his wife Sonia Perez Villanueva, their three children Oscar, Alonso, and Alana, and their young beagle Millie.

"#UKRAINE! WILL THERE BE PEACE DESPITE U.S. MEDDLING? | Thinking Out Loud"In this episode of his "Thinking Out Loud" series, Double D discusses updates from the Ukraine peace talks based out of Turkey.Double D opens the video with a description of the current state of the Ukraine conflict, noting a Russian withdraw from the area of Kiev under the auspices of engaging in peace settlement. He then transitions to discussing the tenets coming out of the inconclusive Ukrainian-Russian peace talks; citing a promise that Ukraine will not join NATO, and a security guarantee for Ukraine by a coalition of nations. Double D notes also that as the peace talks stand now, the issues of Donbas and Crimea are being benched for discussion after an ensuing ceasefire arrangement.Double D continues by analyzing these peace tenets and what may come as a result of the war in Ukraine. He makes the case that in the end, peace will result in Russia's demands being met: a neutral Ukraine, an autonomous Donbas, and the recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.Double D points out that Ukraine has already agreed to neutrality, and notes that the autonomy of Donbas was already established under 'The Minsk Agreement', while Crimea; a de-facto part of Russia, will likely remain under Russian sovereignty even after the "fifteen years of consultations" stipulated in the tentative peace negotiations.Given this analysis, Double D asks the question why so many people had to die in a war which already had a foregone conclusion. He goes on to state that this war was drummed up by U.S. Imperialists for the purpose of engaging in proxy war with Russia while enriching shareholders of the Military Industrial Complex.Double D then transitions to a clip from NBC, where Deputy Director of the 'Atlantic Council Eurasia Center', Melinda Haring, claims that Russia's pulling out of Kiev to engage in diplomacy is a ruse meant to give the Russians time to regroup and organize a fresh attack. She goes on to make the case that the U.S. needs to continue arming Ukraine, and states that Ukrainians need to "fight hard and fight valiantly, and inflict heavy losses on Russia."Double D picks apart the Melinda Haring interview, stating that the 'Atlantic Council' is the U.S. domestic lobbying group for NATO. He then recalls Melinda Haring's ties to the 'National Democratic Institute', an organization which gets its funding from the U.S. State Department, as well as the 'National Endowment for Democracy'; a CIA offshoot notorious for destabilizing governments in the name of American hegemony.Double D ends the video by imploring people not to be duped in to consenting to another war of U.S. imperialism; stating that CIA spooks, the MSM propaganda machine, and think tank stooges have lied prolifically to legitimize their overseas adventurism and cover up the staggering human cost of American Empire.

In season one, we'll take an in-depth look at some of the most perplexing challenges facing the vitality of democracy. Surely, you've seen the headlines from places like El Salvador, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and Ukraine, and, no doubt, you've heard the concerns from US leaders… people like USAID Administrator Samantha Power and President Biden. But what can we do about these global emergencies... these imminent threats to the health and vibrancy of democracy?  Join me on Democracy! The Podcast, as we tour the world to seek a better understanding of how a consortium…  made up of the three leading US development organizations, some with names you may already know well…  the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, the International Republican Institute, and the National Democratic Institute, comes together to work alongside citizens… in the fight to defend democracy.  Hear how international teams offer solutions in the face of modern day threats like corruption, disinformation, rising authoritarianism, dictatorships, economic disasters, and failed governments, and learn how you, too, can fight for a more democratic society. You'll hear from the most experienced experts working in the field of democracy, rights, and governance.  They'll explain how they help citizens tackle real-life problems, and move their own countries toward a more democratic process for all.  Leading voices from the U-S government and leaders of foreign nations will weigh-in.. Plus, we'll talk to regular people like you and me who bravely stand up for their fellow citizens in the face of discrimination, punishment, persecution, or are simply excluded from their own nation's political processes every day.  You can find Democracy! The Podcast, right here, or on whatever service, or app, or semi-functioning device you might use to listen to your podcasts. We're on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Alexa, Plex... whatever. Today's episode features a conversation hosted recently by the Digital Public Library of America, DPLA. The DPLA brings together many collections of America's libraries, archives, and museums, and makes them freely available to the world on a shared platform.  This DPLA Book Talk features a conversation on trust and the crisis faced by our institutions; the promise of the movements rising to challenge them; and the obstacles we must confront if we are to rebuild civic life and create meaningful change.  It includes Ethan Zuckerman, Katherine Maher, and Alberto Ibargüen. Ethan Zuckerman is an associate professor of public policy, communication and information at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and is founder of the Institute for Digital Public Infrastructure, a research group that is studying and building alternatives to the existing commercial internet. He's the author of two books: Mistrust: Why Losing Faith in Institutions Provides the Tools to Transform Them and Rewire: Digital Cosmopolitans in the Age of Connection. Mistrust, published in November 2020, looks at how and why Americans are losing faith in our institutions and how we can harness the methods of successful social movements to both transform and replace them, and serves as the basis for today's discussion. Katherine Maher was the CEO of the Wikimedia Foundation until this spring, when she stepped down after a long and successful tenure. The foundation operates Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. She is a longtime advocate for free and open societies, and has worked around the world leading the integration of technology and innovation in human rights, good governance, and international development. Katherine has worked with UNICEF, the National Democratic Institute, the World Bank, and Access Now on programs supporting technologies for democratic participation, civic engagement, and open government.  Alberto Ibargüen, who moderates the discussion, is president and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. He is the former publisher of The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald and during his tenure, The Miami Herald won three Pulitzer Prizes and El Nuevo Herald won Spain's Ortega y Gasset Prize for excellence in journalism.

How can we turn our anxiety about the upcoming election into productive action? In this episode we talk to Francoise Stovall about what it would mean to have a true democracy and why there are reasons to be hopeful. She offers ways for busy moms to help invite more people into the process and inspires us to take action beyond voting. Feminist CrushesAs people suggest that Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, is a feminist, this quote from Bell Hooks' book, Feminism is for Everybody: “Lifestyle feminism ushered in the notion that there could be as many versions of feminism as there were women. Suddenly the politics was being slowly removed from feminism. And the assumption prevailed that no matter what a woman's politics, be she conservative or liberal, she too could fit feminism into her existing lifestyle. Obviously this way of thinking has made feminism more acceptable because its underlying assumption is that women can be feminists without fundamentally challenging and changing themselves or the culture.” https://rep.club/collections/books/products/transcendent-kingdom (Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi) https://thejunecup.com/collections/frontpage/products/the-june-cup-regular?gclid=CjwKCAjw8MD7BRArEiwAGZsrBWfqxRh7PNsZoTVfow3lxSw9h3pwjH7fh61N6TeKO749XPsbL4YSLBoCltcQAvD_BwE (June Menstrual Cup) Mentions:https://votolatino.org/ (Voto Latino) https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781580050753 (Cunt) by Inga Muscio https://swingleft.org/ (Swing Left) https://indivisible.org/ (Indivisible) https://front.moveon.org/ (Move On) https://colorofchange.org/ (Color of Change) https://www.citizen.org/ (Public Citizen) https://www.commoncause.org/ (Common Cause) https://workingfamilies.org/ (Working Families Party) https://iowansfordcstatehood.com/ (Iowans for DC Statehood) https://rep.club/products/hood-feminism?_pos=1and_sid=ef5072fc4and_ss=r (Hood Feminism) by MIkki Kendall About Francoise StovallFrancoise has dedicated her career to working for inclusive and accountable democracy, both at home and around the world.
