This week’s guest is Michael Sambrook, one of the minds behind Griff Gristle and the horror anthology comic, Horrere. Michael is part of a group of creators in the UK steadily pumping out some solid indie comics so I’ve been eager to speak to him. Unfortunately, this interview gets cut short due to some day job responsibilities. I intend to have Michael back on the show soon along with some of his colleagues from Madius Comics. Michael will be tabling at Glassgow Comic Con this Saturday, June 30th where he’ll have copies of Horrere #3 available in print for the first time. This was first released in digital this past Halloween. Horrere is carrying on the tradition of classic horror anthology comics like Tales from the Crypt and Creepy. Michael can be found on Twitter at @Rapiaghi. Follow along with Madius Comics on Twitter at @MadiusComics. You can find Michael’s work on the Comichaus app, as well as at payhip.com/horrere. This week, Scott is joined by one of the minds behind Big Punch Studios, Jon Lock. And boy do they have a lot to talk about. From their amazing comics to their intriguing podcasts, there's no end to the things these two could talk about. Which is probably why they also go on about wood pigeons and patronising religious advertisements. This is a weird show we have here. Check out Big Punch Studios and The Comics Summit! We took a trip up north to Carlisle Comic Con recently. We feature interviews with some of the comic creators featured there. These include Emma Vieceli featuring on the show for her 2nd interview, Dave Cook of Card Shark Comics, James McCulloch from Comichaus, Lydon White, and Simon Furman. We review the comics Out in the Open by Javi Rey which is taken from the novel by Jesus Carrasco following a young boy who runs from an abused life into the void of the deserts and meets up with a goat herder who helps him survuve the harsh landscape and also The Either by Matt Garvey and Dizevez. We also give our thoughts on the anaimated movie In This Corner of the World which looks at the struggles of Japanese life through WW2. Mike talks about nerd culture and what he called Alternative 80's, looking at the stories that now look back and use 80's themes and refrences for their stories whilst Pete continues Kirbys life. This time he looks at the years between 1958 to 1961 from monster comics to the birth of the Fantastic Four. Enjoy.
