Once you've wrapped your mind around driving on the left and accepted the occasional one-lane-road-with-oncoming-traffic scenario, it's time to dig into the details. In Part 2, we're covering the practical stuff: how to rent a car, what kind of vehicle to choose, how to navigate, where to park, and how long it really takes to get from point A to point B. Whether you're eager to take on a full Scottish road trip or still weighing whether driving is the right fit for your travel style, this episode is here to help you decide. I'll walk you through the logistics so you can plan smarter and travel with confidence. By the end, you'll know whether you're ready to embrace the freedom and adventure of driving in Scotland—or if you'd rather sit back and let someone else take the wheel. → Get SUPPORT designing your SCOTLAND TRIP ← Connect w/ Angela on Instagram LISTEN BACK: Episode 25: Learn Your Travel Style (Part 3: Confidence) Episode 76: Travel Style Series 2.0: Is Your Travel Style Keeping You in Your Comfort Zone? Driving in Scotland is a whole different experience—left-hand driving, impossibly narrow roads, and roundabouts at nearly every turn. You might find yourself squeezing past a stone wall on one side and an oncoming car on the other, wondering how this can count as a two-lane road. If that sounds a little intimidating, you're not alone. But driving is often the most efficient—and rewarding—way to explore the country. In Part 1 of this two-part series, I'm walking you through what it's actually like to take the wheel in Scotland. From understanding road types to navigating roundabouts and shifting your mindset for left-side driving, this episode will help you head into your trip with a clear sense of what to expect. You might still feel a little anxious the first time you hit the road, but being prepared can go a long way toward making the whole experience feel less overwhelming—and a lot more doable. Style and Stewardship - Intentional Living, Spiritual Growth, Wellness, Nutrition, Lifestyle
On this episode of The Style And Stewardship Podcast, I wanted you to be encouraged by the truth that you do not have to do it all. You don't have to be good at everything. There is freedom in your limitations. There are things you don't have to know, understand, or have all figured out. You don't have to be good at what everyone else is good at in order to be great at what God has equipped you to do. This episode is about the freedom to be the person God created you to be according to His specific design. I'm also touching on the importance of contentment and of course how this all comes back to stewardship! Nikki's guest for this On-Air Coaching Call is Geraldine Carter. Geraldine is the owner of She Thinks Big Coaching, where she helps her clients build and price services that will reduce workload while increasing revenue. Listen as she asks for Nikki's help with stories and talking points for a podcast tour she is going on. As usual, Nikki is on point with her answer on this episode of the Sales Maven Show. Nikki suggests that Geraldine first find a key point that she will be speaking about and think of a story of a client that she recently helped around this key point. You can interject this story when you bring up the point and then share the results they received once they implemented what you had discussed. Nikki suggests starting the story by talking about how CPAs can get overwhelmed and overlook the money they could save their clients and then share the example of how you had several overwhelmed clients that implemented this and were able to bring in large amounts of money once CPAs can identify what they are overlooking in their business. "We have coaches because everyone has blind spots." Geraldine is asking Nikki what phrases she should stay away from so that she doesn't make her clients feel embarrassed. Nikki suggests she remark on how common this situation is and the need for coaches to identify the blind spots and find ways to bring money into the business while serving their clients at a much higher level. Nikki also points out that Geraldine needs to take the time to tell these stories when she is a guest on a podcast because usually, it gets the host more engaged, and they ask more in-depth questions. Tell the story in a way that sounds like you are telling it for the first time and the listeners' benefit. Geraldine shares that if she had to pick one benefit of being part of the Sales Maven Society, it's that she gets the right answers to her questions fast. Most leaders have some kind of message they want to share with the world…. Something God had put on your heart, taught you, or just something you have learned and want to pass on. The problem is, many of us don’t know where to start when it comes to sharing a message. We often are waiting to be asked, but the reality is many people won’t know you have a message to share until you start sharing it. As Christian women leaders, we all have a duty to share the message of the gospel in all that we do. We can do this in the small, everyday choices we make. We can do this in the way that we treat someone at the grocery store, the way we speak to our co-workers, and the times we sit down and share directly from God’s word. But sometimes God gives us a specific message based on our life experiences, our study of His word, or the needs we see around us. In this episode, I want to chat with you about the ways you can begin sharing your message, as well as what to do if you don’t know what your message is AND what to do if you’re hesitant to share a message because it’s similar to other people’s messages. Our culture and our world sets us up to believe that the value of what you do in life is related to the size of what you do. Therefore, leadership can often be seen as ‘unimportant’ if it’s on a smaller scale or with small numbers. But we believe that “leading small” is an important opportunity and can have a big impact. In this episode, Holly and I are talking about leading small--what this means, why it’s important, and how to navigate it well. If you’ve ever felt like what you are doing or how you are currently leading is less valuable because it’s “small”, be sure to take a listen. Key Points Discussed: What “Leading Small” Means Why Leading Small Matters How to navigate leading small well Ways to invest in your leadership while you lead small Learn to develop your discernment in decision making Figure out your motives Create healthy habits and figure out your baseline Find those who supplement your weakness and create a “cabinet” of trusted friends for the long haul Grow in integrity Learn to love those you lead when they are unloveable, difficult, or “unleadable” Develop courage and perseverance Learn to learn (i.e. become coachable) Develop your confidence Listen to past episodes about confidence to understand the role it plays in your leadership (see list below) Take the stages of confident leadership quiz to determine your next steps Action Step: Join the Purposeful Leadership FB Group and tell us from the list of ways to prepare: what is one thing you are not doing that you will start? Sometimes the worst thing that happens in your life is taking place FOR you and not TO you. This is how losing millions, twice over, feels for me. It was exactly what I needed to evolve, expand and unapologetically be all the things I needed to be in life. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for these occurrences. It’s obvious now, of course, hindsight is a beautiful thing. When we are in the moment it’s the worst feeling ever. That’s why I emphasise that the very thing that we are torn about is typically the thing that springboards us forward - a loss of a relationship, a life, money etc…. What is happening FOR you right now that will allow you to expand? What are you holding back from to get to where you want to be? The choice is yours! Do you want to be the most effective leader possible and make a lasting impact on the world around you? If so, confidence is the key. Over the next few weeks and months, we’re going to dive into confidence along with some related issues such as communication and stepping out of your comfort zone. These are all factors that are essential in leadership, so we are going to spend some time discussing what they look like and how you can move forward in them. In a past episode, I shared why leading with confidence is important for us as Christian women. But I did not dive deep into the specific benefits of confidence and why it will help you become a more effective leader. If you missed that episode, be sure to go back and listen to it here. “To find yourself, think for yourself.” – Socrates It’s here! The final step in building soulful boundaries. This step focuses on learning how to say Yes authentically and No when you mean it. Sure, it sounds simple in theory, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have an entire method dedicated to setting boundaries if we could all easily say No. Why is learning how to say Yes in an authentic – aka genuine – way imperative to our happiness? When we are always agreeing to new commitments or taking on too many tasks, we end up feeling overwhelmed, resentful, and utterly exhausted. This episode will guide you through why we feel the need always to say Yes and help you discover that there is another way to live. Hint: it starts with a not-so-little two-letter word. You’ve set your goals. You’ve cast a dream and vision. You even know how your personality impacts the goals you set. But how do you actually go about implementing all you’ve planned? Oftentimes, we’re great at dreaming, but not so great at actually executing what we’ve set out to do. If you’re ready to get to work on your goals, this episode is for you. In this episode, Holly and I talk about what holds us back from accomplishing our goals, why habits are essential for leaders, and how to create habits. You’ll find the one key you need to implement the goals you’ve set. To access the complete show notes for this episode, click here. Why Habits are Essential for Leaders Habits eliminate decisions. As a leader, you make thousands of decisions a day. Putting some tasks on autopilot frees you up to make big-picture decisions. Habits inspire others. People are watching you. They are seeing you showing up day after day, week after week. Having consistent habits and routines as a leader will inspire your team and give them encouragement that they can do the same. o how to set goals for the next 90 days and breaks the year into four 12-week sections. How Habits are Created Holly explains how habits are created based on the book The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg*: Notice your cue. For example, your cue may be that you’re bored and tired everyday at 3 p.m. Develop a routine. Your old routine may have been a snack, but your new routine is to get up from your desk and take a walk. Establish a reward. Your new reward is feeling energized after the walk. Believe the new habit will work. Belief is critical and so is having a support system. Have a co-worker encourages you to take that walk each day at 3 p.m. Strategies to Implement New Habits I share some keys to implementing habits from two books I read, Atomic Habits* and Better than Before*: Remember that daily habits create your future. One way to change your habit is to change how you view yourself (your identity). Consider WHO you want to be rather than WHAT you want to accomplish. Schedule time in for your habit. Stack your habits by taking one habit you already have and adding another habit to it. Get clear on exactly what habit you are working on and exactly how you are going to implement it. Clarity is essential to creating new habits. Read my blog post with 5 steps to creating new habits here. He states, "Confidence is the ability to transform fear into focused and relaxed thinking, communication, and action--with a result that dangers become opportunities, obstacles become innovations, weaknesses become advantages, and setbacks become breakthroughs." This robust definition at its heart implores you to examine your circumstances, create a right thought that creates a positive feeling that propels you into Next Right Steps that give you serious results.
