What should conservatives make of the first 100 days of Trump's second term? Rachel Bovard, vice president of programs at the Conservative Partnership Institute, joins Oren to discuss how to measure an unconventional administration's early successes, what to make of DOGE, and where the administration should direct its efforts to capitalize on its public mandate.Plus, they discuss one major change that all conservatives should celebrate: a better approach to antitrust enforcement, led by Andrew Ferguson and Mark Meador at the FTC and Gail Slater at DOJ.Further reading:“Break 'em Up” by Rachel Bovard“Antitrust's Conservative Future” by FTC Commissioner Mark Meador
The Democrat Party's official X account shares an utterly pathetic video of a seemingly drunk Kamala lamenting her epic loss to President-Elect Trump, leaving everybody to wonder, WHY?! Plus, a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has now taken effect in Lebanon, but is Biden falling into a trap that will empower terrorists and undermine Israel? And finally, in yet another example of trans insanity, a judge allows a trans man to compete on San Jose State's women's volleyball team.Guest Host: Riley LewisGuests:Davis Younts | Military Defense AttorneyTom Jordan | Radio Host, Tom Jordan LiveTerry Newsome | President, Parents Involved in Education, Illinois Chapter & Podcast Co-Host, Behind Enemy LinesRachel Bovard | Vice President, Conservative Partnership Institute

The Conservative Partnership Institute's Hugh Fike discusses the current debate over keeping the federal government from "shutting down". Basically, the current spending authorization to keep the government running expires at the end of this month. The continuing resolution to extend government funding isn't generally controversial but the GOP addition of the SAVE Act has Democrats (and a few Republicans) opposing the plan. The SAVE Act requires proof of US citizenship in order to register to vote. For more information: https://www.cpi.org/2024/09/compass-the-save-act-is-a-fight-worth-having/

In this discussion, Hugh Fike from the Conservative Partnership Institute focuses on the fact that known criminals and some of the terrorist watch list have illegally entered the country through the southern border. In one case, a known terrorist was apprehended in southern California as he was entering the US illegally and then released into the country.

Project 2025 is a plan to reshape the executive branch of the U.S. federal government in the event of a Republican victory in the2024 U.S. presidential election. Established in 2022, the project seeks to recruit tens of thousands of conservatives toWashington, D.C., to replace existing federal civil service workers it characterizes as the "deep state", to further the objectives of the next Republican president. Although participants in the project cannot promote a specific presidential candidate, many have close ties toDonald Trump and theTrump 2024 presidential campaign. The plan would perform a swift takeover of the entire executive branch under a maximalist version of the unitary executive theory— a theory proposing the president of the United States has absolute power over the executive branch upon inauguration. The development of the plan is led by the Heritage Foundation, an American conservative think tank, in collaboration with some eighty partners including Turning Point USA led by Charlie Kirk; the Conservative Partnership Institute including former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows as senior partner; the Center for Renewing America led by former Trump-appointee Office of Management and Budget director Russell Vought; and America First Legal led by former Trump senior advisor Stephen Miller. Saving Elephants | Millennials defending & expressing conservative values
While Leo Strauss was famous for influencing men and women who became intellectual heavyweights in the conservative movement—names like Allan Bloom, Irving Kristol, Harvey Mansfield, Thomas Pangle barely scratch the surface—few stand as tall as Harry Jaffa. A cantankerous and quarrelsome debater to some and a beloved architect of restoring conservatism to a more American-focused and principled-based approach to others, Jaffa lived a remarkably long and productive life. His writings persuaded William F. Buckley, Jr. away from a more sympathetically Southern conservatism and, with it, the whole of the conservative movement. Joining Saving Elephants host Josh Lewis to explore the legacy of Harry Jaffa is returning guest Seth Root, who was last seen in episode 83 discussing the virtues of Straussianism. About Seth Root Seth Root is a self-described Claremont Institute hack who doesn't care for Edmund Burke, but we love him anyway. He was the cohost of the tragically defunct In The Trenches Podcast, a show for conversations with people that are right in the middle of the war of ideas. Seth was a fellow at Conservative Partnership Institute and an intern at the James Wilson Institute on Natural Rights and the American Founding. He currently works for the Oregon State Senate. Joined by a panel of three young, Black and gifted Christian conservatives as we sort through the noise of the news to find the truth in these discussions. Since the great war on poverty began in the 1960s, the poverty rate for Blacks has not changed. Guests include - Patrina Mosley, Founder and Principal of PPM Consulting; AJ Swinson, Government Relations Communications Coordinator for the Conservative Partnership Institute; and Jonathan Alexandre, Senior Counsel for Governmental Affairs at Liberty Counsel and Liberty Counsel Action and Dr. Anne Bradley with The Fund for American Studies.

The race for Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District pits Rep. Matt Cartwright, a populist Democrat, against Jim Bognet, a Trump-endorsed Republican. The district is one of a small handful nationwide that voted for Donald Trump in 2020 while electing a Democrat to the House of Representatives; it's now a test case for whether a progressive candidate can win over enough Trump voters to prevail in a swing district in 2022. One such Trump voter is John Petrizzo, a local restaurant owner who's supporting Cartwright this November. Petrizzo joins Ryan Grim to discuss the peculiar politics of the 8th District. The two are also joined by Rachel Bovard, senior director at the Conservative Partnership Institute.https://join.theintercept.com/donate/now Hosted on Acast.
