Welcome to Episode 240 We talk about our favorite criminal shows including Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and El Camino. Zaber also recommends Sons of Anarchy Zaber talks about Rocket League, a football like game featuring cars and rockets, Also featuring a not often seen split screen mode, It was a favorite in the Zabermoul house, but an update require each player to have a profile and no guest accounts has caused some consternation. Zaber has also been playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor, last years sequel to Fallen order, an third person action adventure game that he started to scratch the surface of and will return to on a future podcast Ram has been eating people and smacking fish in Maneater, playing as a Shark on a revenge quest for her mother. Simple fun thrashing and killing fish, alligators, other sharks and people. As well as avoiding hunters, its a very simple and ok game but is quite fun. We also learn Danish with Zaber, as well an alternative version of his name, Ram loses what little street cred he had,  Notes Zabermoul origin story, the love child of Sabertooth and Darth Maul The Arabic version of Zaber name (depending if google translate it playing fair) Who knew drugs could be so expensive One of the best shows about drug crime ever, Breaking Bad The excellent prequel Better Call Saul The non so great sequel movie El Camino A Zaber fav with Sons of Anarchy And the spin off Mayans M.C. Car, rockets and footballs, what else to say? Try out Rocket league An unfortunate update making Rocket League less fun An enjoyable sequel in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor And its predecessor Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Swim around and eat people as a shark in Maneater Also check out our next game night on Wednesday 10th April at approx 20:30 GMT+1 on Twitch

Dana and Tom discuss the last of their month of Best Picture winners with one of the great Crime Dramas in American Cinema with On the Waterfront (1954): directed by Elia Kazan, written by Budd Schulberg, starring Marlon Brando, Eva Marie Saint, Karl Malden, Rod Steiger, and Lee J. Cobb. Plot Summary: Dockworker Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) had been an up-and-coming boxer until ordered to throw a fight by powerful local mob boss Johnny Friendly (Lee J. Cobb). Terry, now working for Friendly, helps set up another longshoreman, Joey Doyle, who is talking to the Waterfront Crime Commissioner. Not knowing that he was helping Friendly in Joey's murder, Terry's conscience is disturbed, and he starts questioning his involvement. Circumstances place Terry around Joey's sister, Edie (Eva Marie Saint) and a romance develops. This relationship, together with the advice and support of streetwise priest Father Barry (Karl Malden), pushes Terry to decide his path. Does he stand up to Friendly and turn his back on Friendly's right-hand man, Terry's brother Charley (Rod Steiger), risking his own life and safety, or does Terry "follow the code" and remain silent? This is the tenth episode of "Talking with Authors" by HEC Media and HEC Books. We're a program dedicated to speaking with some of the best selling authors around, covering many different genres. Our author this time is 100 plus million book selling and Edgar award winning crime writer Patricia Cornwell. We spoke with her as she was touring the United States talking about her 22nd crime novel in her Kay Scarpetta series, “Flesh and Blood” by Harper Collins Books. This one-on-one was done in November of 2014.Patricia Cornwell started out working with words professionally as a reporter in North Carolina in the late 70s. She began doing feature work, but eventually moved to the the crime beat where she eventually won an award for a series on prostitution. By the time she started writing novels in 1984, her news background lead her to want to make her imagined subjects as real as possible…so she began to take an almost participatory journalistic approach to her novels. And from the position of authority that she writes from having actually learned the skills of many of her characters has helped her revolutionize the crime genre, not just in literature, but on television as well…where she’s often credited for greatly influencing the rise of forensic science being popular in crime dramas on the air. We’ll hear about the hugely popular “Kate Scarpetta” series of books and life beyond the printed word for our guest, Edgar Award winning, best selling writer Patricia Cornwell on this episode of “Talking with Authors” from HEC Media and HEC Books. Our host and interviewer this time is Cordell Whitlock.HEC Media is a production company out of St. Louis, Missouri. With the help of independent bookstore Left Bank Books and St. Louis County Library, we are able to sit down with these amazing writers and thought leaders to discuss their work, their inspiration, and what makes them special. I've been asked if I get depressed after doing an episode of the podcast and Ive been told by many people that they can't listen to my show because they get the vibe that it will be depressing and it'll make them sad. I ask these people if they watch television shows like NCIS, Law & Order, This is Us, or even 48 Hours. If the aswer is "yes" then my follow up question is why do you watch a show where you know someone is going to die and watch to see how the criminal gets caught, but you don't care about how someone in real life is picking up the pieces after losing someone special in their life.  We do we rush to fake TV shows but not want to help real people that we know that are going through real life tragedy? Inquiring minds want to know! It stars Charlie Hunnam in the title role, with Jude Law, fetching in assorted leather-wear, as his scheming uncle King Vortigen. Ritchie talks about how he works with actors on set - including here David Beckham, who has a cameo role, and how the folkloric tradition of storytelling influenced the film's narrative. From Shore to Shore is a new play inspired by the lives and little-known stories of people from the Chinese communities in Leeds and West Yorkshire. Playwright Mary Cooper and writer Mimi Webster discuss how the play came about and why it's being presented in unusual venues - Chinese restaurants.Presenter: Samira Ahmed Producer:Julian May.Image credit: Daniel Smith/ Warner Bros.
