This mini episode comes from episode 16, Crying Shame by Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. Since their self-title debut album was released in 1989, Mark Lizotte aka Diesel has become a mainstay of the Australian music scene. Diesel emigrated to Australia in 1971 with the Lizotte family settling in Perth. After his first band Innocent Bystanders broke up, together with a few bandmates they formed a new group – a then unnamed band – here's Diesel telling the story of how Mark Lizotte morphed into Johnny Diesel.

Why is crying so shameful? We come into the world and spend our infant hood crying, and then at some point we're told "crying is for babies", or "Big boys/girls don't cry". From that point on we try to hide our tears - or even stop them altogether. In this episode it's revealed that Deirdre isn't much of a cryer- while Renee on the other hand is always ready for a good cry! They talk about the types of tears we produce and why it's so shameful to cry in front of others.
On This episode of a Quick Shot of Romance Becky and Heather are reviewing Crying Shame by Rebel Shaw. This is a new pen name for author writing duo Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black.

This episode is on Johnny Diesel and The Injectors and their hit song, Crying Shame. Our special guest was the bands front man, guitarist and songwriter, Diesel. When Johnny Diesel and The Injectors first burst onto the Australian music scene, they took the country by storm. Their hard rocking self-titled debut album would go onto become the highest selling album in 1989. On the back of this album, the band would also win 2 Aria awards. At the time, the album became the highest selling debut album ever released by an Australian band. The record included 4 hit singles with 3 of these songs reaching the top 10 on the charts. Thanks for Listening to Awesome Aussie SongsPlease share this episode if you enjoyed it - if could could give us a rating and comment that would be greatly appreciated - you're Guest Suggestions are more than welcomed.Awesome Aussie Songs is presented by Josh Ursem and written and produced by Sheldon Kidd.Intro / outro music is Australia, So Nice by Holly KirstenHail, Hail, Australian Rock n Roll.
Noel catches up with Ken Harrison and Roberta Carter-Harrison of The Wild Strawberries. The married duo have had multiple hits in their native Canada, including "Life-Sized Marilyn Monroe", "Crying Shame" and "I Don't Want to Think About It". Ken and Roberta talk about how their success did not make it to the states. The band participated in all three years of the Lilith Fair music festival. Currently, the duo have been releasing a song a month through their website and Spotify.
In this week's episode we're featuring the third album from The Mavericks, "What A Crying Shame" (1994). With roots in Miami's alternative and punk scenes, country music became the common ground upon which the band came together, and after two albums with moderate sales success (including one for MCA) producer Don Cook was brought on board for their third. Cook's work with Brooks & Dunn was instrumental in the success of that duo - and he allowed The Mavericks a tight but diverse record on "What A Crying Shame". Given their name by an old manager, The Mavericks fell into it over time; causing country radio programmers headaches since the get-go with elements of Latin, country, blues, rock 'n' roll, vintage pop and rockabilly in their music - their product was hard to define. But anchored by the sensational Orbison-esque vocal of Raul Malo, The Mavericks wouldn't be pigeonholed. Despite sales of over a million units, radio's reaction to "What A Crying Shame" was luke warm. But for those willing to listen cover to cover there was some excellent country music to be had: a couple of updated Ray Price shuffles in "Just A Memory" and "Ain't Found Nobody", and a pair of excellent honky tonk floor fillers in "There Goes My Heart" and the belly-rubber "Pretend" are worth the listen alone.

“One of the issues I have [with depression] is that I don’t want to drag other people down. It’s a kind of pre-judgement about the situation - the other person might not even feel like that, but I don’t want to kill the mood. There’s a lot of internalised shame around what it means to be a man.” On this week’s episode, I’m joined by Michael, an extremely eloquent young author, who speaks about the complex nuances that can prevent men from seeking help for mental health problems, as well as what he personally does to cope.
