Show SummaryOn this episode, we feature a conversation with Marine Corps Veteran Dennis Miller, a veteran advocate and entrepreneur in the greater Philadelphia area. Dennis and I are going to be having a conversation about the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, a multi-ethnic unit of predominantly black women who were assigned ot England and France to clear several years of backlogged mail in the European Theater of Operations. About Today's GuestDennis Miller is a South Philadelphia native who grew up in a military family and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1996. Dennis served as an infantryman, marksmanship instructor and small unit leader before being medically retired and separating from active duty in 2009. Upon retirement, Dennis attended Lincoln University, the nation's first HBCU. Shortly after graduation, he began work at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center as a research coordinator on a study focused on pain disparities (SPA Study). Dennis then served as the Wounded Warrior Fellow in the 13th congressional district of PA where he was tasked as the office lead in Norristown and with managing all the military and Veteran casework in the district. As that fellowship ended, Dennis began consulting for public officials, non-profits and private companies, establishing Wheel Dog Industries (WDI), a public policy consulting firm, specializing in veteran and military affairs. Shortly after launching WDI, Dennis founded the Greater Philadelphia Area Veteran Chamber of Commerce, an organization built to increase the economic capacity of the Veteran community in and around Philadelphia.  He sits on various boards, including the Veterans Advisory Panel of the 4th congressional district of PA and Ft. Mifflin on the Delaware. Dennis is a #StandToScholar, having attended the Veteran Leadership Program at the George W. Bush Presidential Institute and is also a Union League Veteran Initiative Fellow. He returned to federal service in 2021 as a Congressional and Intergovernmental Specialist at the Department of Justice. Dennis managed an extensive portfolio and worked relentlessly to build relationships between his office and the Hill. Dennis now works as an External Affairs Liaison at FEMA, responsible for delivery of mitigation messaging to congressional offices, intergovernmental agencies and media outlets. Dennis is a husband and father; his wife, Holly, graciously tolerates his presence and his children, Jacqueline, Jordan and Joshua, make every effort to endure the endless embarrassment their father brings them. Dennis loves dogs and has a Boxer puppy named Adonis that shares the Miller family home in Elkins Park. He is an avid follower of all things Philadelphia sports and is a history buff, specifically surrounding World War II. Dennis serves as an advisor and mentor to young Veterans in the Philadelphia community and is active in various charitable organizations and programs in and around the city.Links Mentioned In This EpisodeWomen of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion Web SiteThe Six Triple Eight DocumentaryPsychArmor Resource of the WeekThis week's PsychArmor resource of the week is the PsychArmor course Women Who Serve. Oh how transformative gospel music can be. However when you are queer the church institution is one of the most isolating. Trying to water who you are out of fear of not being accepted is one thing but straying away from the faith seems to be the solution until Jess performed in the Color Purple Broadway show and it brought her back to it all........................Tune in as we listen to Jessica Johnson as we talk about how the power of gospel music is so transformative. In addition catch Jess as she and the community in Norristown shines the light on the weekend of December 15-17th at Theatre Horizon. There are several performances to come out and hear the joy of the season in music.............................................Tickets to the show are available here: https://theatrehorizon.org/holiday-concert-2023/..........................I also talk about taking care of you during this holiday season, the rules of Christmas, and an adoration to not overspend and stay grounded this holiday season. Also for those who are grieving during this time or having a hard time you aren't alone and I talk about that too by also giving honor to my Great Grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Sims who I miss dearly. I dedicate this episode to you both...........................Follow me on the blog as well as on socials as Toitimeblog

I teased this episode in the previous one, so here it is! Did you know that your good name can be good marketing? I want you to think about this. How many companies do you buy from on the name alone? Have you ever hired a babysitter or other service provider in your home because they come from a good family name? How many times have you done the opposite when the company or person in question has a poor name and reputation? I work very hard to add value everyday to our good name. The Carfagno name means something to me. We are disciples of Jesus. We are hard workers. We are honest. I could go on and on. What are the values you add to your good name? I encourage you to develop these in your home and with your family. Transfer these values to your kids.  I get inbound leads through my website and Google every month. This is so cool to me. We've followed Jesus. We've worked hard. We've been honest. This has earned my name and our company a great local reputation. Our Google profile has 34 5-Star reviews, an article showing us winning the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year for 2022, and many other helpful insights for prospects to learn about us. When I receive an inbound lead, my policy is to call within 1 business day. It's a boundary. I chit-chat and learn about the job. I always ask how they find me. Usually, I hear. "I searched online and found you highly rated in the area." That means so much to me. I desire a good name and this is showing it. The Carfagno Name in my area is respected and I'm so thankful for that.A lead came in recently that seemed like any other. I returned the message within 1 business day. It was a local accounting firm. The office manager and I chit-chatted about the job and then I asked the question. "So, how did you find me?" I expected the same thing. She said. "I searched online and saw the name Carfagno. I'm a Carfagno on my mother's side. I wondered if we were related. I just went to our Carfagno Family Reunion. Maybe you were there? Your name got me to click on the Google profile and I saw the big award you won and your reviews. It felt right." We spent 5 minutes on geneology trying to find out if we were related. This is a side note. I live in Harleysville, PA but grew up in Norristown, PA. When I was a kid, I used to joke that although our name was obscure and uncommon, there's a half page of Carfagnos in the Norristown phone book. After college, we moved to Greenville, SC. There wasn't a single southerner that could pronounce my last name. I was the only Carfagno down there. We moved to Upstate New York for 16 years where plenty of Italians lived. More could pronounce our name, but I still phonetically spelled C, A, R as in Ralph, F as in Frank, A-G as in Gary, N as in Nancy, O to just about everyone. There were no Carfagnos in the New York phone book. We moved back to Montgomery County, PA in 2018 and I felt like I was in Cheers. Everybody knew my name. They could say Carfagno. They could spell Carfagno. Heck, many of them knew a Carfagno. Here's a funny one. My uncle Bob Carfagno married Patty Carfagno. Her name was actually Carfagno when they met and they weren't related! She married a Carfagno in her first marriage, kept the name, and married Bob! In my area, the name Carfagno is more known. It's a marketing niche of its own. I know this won't apply to all of you or perhaps not many of you at all. But imagine you have a name that is less popular or common. You go out and make a name for yourself and add value to your name. Then when prospects come across your Google profile and see your name, they feel good about hiring you.Read the rest of this article at the Smart Cleaning School website

The new book, which Keenan describes as a travel guide for those who feel trapped in the culture war era, explains why she believes conservatives need to become more ‘extreme' by becoming more ‘domestic.' Keenan further explains the purpose of the book, noting that the term ‘domestic extremist,' when viewed through the today's Overton Window, contains the matriarch in a traditional family. Also, Dom provides an update on the continued effort by Republicans to send illegal immigrants to heavily blue areas, and Dom updates the situation in Norristown, as town officials prepare to send their homeless to the Villanova campus.
