Issac Desha had a checkered past. Though he was the son of a Governor, something just wasn't right. When he was spotted with a dead man's horse, things got "interesting." He ended up in San Felipe before the revolution but his prospects didn't improve much. Hear about a murder in early Texas in this latest episode of Wise About Texas.

Hi #SmartCommunity friends. In this episode of the Smart Community Podcast, I have a brilliant conversation with Cheryl Desha. Cheryl tells us about her background in Mauritius and Australia, and in Environmental Engineering, Disaster Management and Resilience. We discuss why resilience, including digital resilience, needs to be part of the Smart Community conversation, and how we can forward plan for better disaster management. Cheryl tells us about ways communities often come together in practical ways after disasters and how we can continue those positive aspects of community long term. We talk about how it's important to balance the wonderful things about technology, such as data driven decision making and digital twins helping us be agile, with the way our digital junk food diet has reduced our ability to focus. Cheryl shares with us some of the projects she's working on and some of the great books she's been reading. We finish our chat discussing the emerging trend of the need for Digital Resilience in the Smart Community space. As always we hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed making it! “I really let my heart lead.” –Desha Peacock Have big goals that seem to go against the grain of the world around you? Listen up, because I'm talking with author, lifestyle design coach, and retreat leader Desha Peacock, who consistently builds a life that suits her dreams and creativity — even though it goes against the mainstream. We dive right into how she thinks about the life she's creating. It starts with her values, the top two being family and travel/adventure. Eight years ago, she quit her job, started a business, and pulled her daughter out of school and brought her to Mexico for a month. She talks about how she made that happen from the hard conversations with her husband to trading spaces — and about the synchronicity that happened from that trip and where it led her. We also get into the challenges we face as women when we try to take care of ourselves or follow our dreams if that involves leaving children. But how it backfires if we only take care of others. So how does she make the magic happen? We talk about: Clarity of desire — what's the ideal situation you would love to happen Supporting practices like meditating to clear and let go, gratitude, asking for things, visualizing, plus how to turn things over to a higher power and also take practical action The four ways of being stuck: Stuck in the Muck, Lost Your Mojo, Creative Overwhelm, Out of Alignment, plus how to get out of creative overload (hint, it's not about choosing one thing) Getting ideas out on paper — and finding a good time for them in your calendar Email as a more effective business tool than Instagram and Desha's course to help people build their list Navigating family, a major launch, and the rest of life during cancer treatment BIO Desha Peacock is a published author, lifeSTYLE design coach & retreat leader. With a background in career development & intuitive sense of style, Desha helps women create their Sweet Spot: a self-defined place of success and beauty. Her first book Create the Style you Crave, was listed by the Huffington Post as one of the best books to buy your girlfriend & has sold over 10,000 copies. Start by asking: What is the ideal situation I would love to happen? Don't shut down ideas because you don't know how it will happen. Just get really clear on what you truly desire. TURN IT OVER AND TAKE A STEP. Desha uses a combination of turning things over to a higher power. Say what it is you need your universal manager to figure out. Then take a practical step. Remember, you don't have to figure everything out to take each step. GET IDEAS OUT ON PAPER AND CALENDARED. If creative overwhelm resonates, this is a...

Pimlico Academy, a school in central London, made headlines on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 when students protested against their racist head teacher Dan Smith. Dan Smith tried to implement Christian hymns, tried to over-emphasis 'British values' in a manner that alienated senior staff, 30 of who left and were subsequently replaced by like minded ideologues. The head teacher also banned afros saying that they “blocked the views" of other students, banned colorful hijabs, and didn’t do anything after 3 cases of sexual harassment and rape occurred in the school. Today two students of Pimlico Academy join us to explain what happened and share their thoughts about everything related to their successful protest and their racist head teacher. __________________________________________________________________ Follow us on Twitter @LRedSchoolHouse. In this episode of Rhi-Take we have the blessing of Choppin’ it up with the freshman Queen herself Desha (that’s Day-zhugh for anyone tryna pronounce her name wrong lol @me). This college freshman is what many of us find to be one of a kind to the world. As a “pandemic freshman” she has had to go head to head with some of the trials that most of us would care to avoid (I.e. college in the confines of her home, while working two jobs and trying to learn the ropes of higher education). What many would call a difficult situation, Desha considers a blessing. This freshman has such a positive attitude and outlook towards life - she is destined for greatness. If you've ever had chronic pain and wondered how you would ever make it through the valley, this episode is for you! And, if you haven't... it's still for you! None of us knows what's around the corner, and there will certainly be a time that we will relate to this story in our personal lives or in the lives of our loved ones. Desha Clawson has been married to her husband, Casey, for 40 years. They have four sons and two daughters-in-law. She is so amazing and someone Robin and Jill desire to emulate! Last year, she had been dealing with TMJ and went to have it checked out. It turned out that she needed a partial jaw replacement. If you've ever had mouth pain, you know it is all-consuming. At this same time, she was dealing with sciatic pain from a previous rollerblading accident! (How much do we love that she rollerblades?) The pain became so severe that she found herself having confusing thoughts about ending things permanently. Thankfully, she reached out to Jesus and he provided a way out. She gives us great lessons on what her take-away lessons were from the whole experience from which we can all benefit. What a great reminder of God's faithfulness toward all of us! When did you first feel the tug to do something bigger and better with your business? To follow your dreams and bring your creative heart and strategic mind together to shape something extraordinary and magical that people love? On my latest podcast, I'm excited to be joined by the amazing Desha Peacock, International Retreat Leader, Lifestyle Design Coach, Author of two books - “Create the Style You Crave” and “Your Creative Work Space” - and Founder of Sweet Spot Style to discuss how we can design our life and business around our multiple talents, passions and skills to find our voice and reflect our true authentic and creative self. Pursuing the path you're destined to take in life might not be simple, but plucking up the courage to believe in yourself is half the effort for the journey. Desha has always wanted to help people, and helping women navigate their own paths was something she quickly realised was her goal. It was all she'd been searching for. Desha explains, "we are all born with an innate desire to creatively express the essence of who we are. This desire is embedded in our soul, a gift at birth, our own Northern Star in a galaxy full of the unknown. It's the one true thing we know we always have, regardless of the circumstances that surround us." It's up to us to look into ourselves and check if what we're doing and the path we're on is in line with our innate desire. And if we find we're not, we must do whatever we can to return to that core belief and live our lives at our full potential. In my latest podcast, Desha and I explore how YOU can be both a “dreamer” and a “doer”. It's not enough to dream big; you must also be ready to take action and upgrade YOUR lifestyle, live fully in your sweet spot and be your most authentic self. They said it couldn't be done... They all laughed me out the door when I told them I'd get this far. Well, who's laughin' now, Buster Brown?!?!?!? TEN SPANKIN' EPISODES!!! And who did I have on the show to ring in this ceremonious event? Why, none other than the exceptionally talented and highly lauded filmmaker, Desha Dauchan. Desha is the recipient of seemingly countless awards and accolades for her career which spans over two decades. A few her films have also been screened at both Sundance and the Cannes Film Festival among others! It was an honor to have her on the show and discuss the history of her career, the importance of representation and the exploration of identity in film, and what responsibility, if any, artists have to combat hate and authoritarianism under an administration as divisive and dangerous as this current one. Enjoy EPISODE TEN, BABY, YEAH!!! **Airhorn Sound**

Tehilim Perek 119: Letter Daled Hello everybody, I’m Rabbi Shaya Sussman, covering the entire TANACH one perek at a time. Today’s NachDaily is Tehilim Chapter 119. Today’s class will discuss the letter Daled. Daled represents the ability or force that allows something to go beyond itself by moving in a different direction. “Dalosi v’li yehoshea, I was lowered and Hashem saved me.” Or, “Aromimcha Hashem ki Dilisani, I will exalt You Hashem, for You have drawn me up.” These pessukim demonstrate how Daled is the force that allows a person to move in either direction, whether being lowered or raised. In a deeper sense, Daled represents free choice. We can move in any direction we please. Aleph represents Echad, the one God behind creation. Beis shows barah, the duality expressed in creation itself. Gimmel, Hashem gives His divine flow to the creation. Daled shows man's ability to change his mazel, utilizing his free choice to direct himself upwards to be a tzaddik, or downwards to be a lowly person. The first time that Daled appears in the Torah is in the words “taD’she ha’aretz Deshe, let the land sprout vegetation.” Desha means vegetation that grows quickly. If given water, it sprouts rapidly. The inverse is also true. Without water, it will quickly dry out. You can raise yourself quickly like the desha, or chas v’shalom point yourself downwards to destruction. It should be noted that a D’li, a bucket used in a well of water, can also be either lowered or raised. Similarly, a door is called a Daled because it allows us to leave or enter our comfort zones. The shape of the Daled looks like an open door. I wish I had a visual here to describe this. On opening a door, the top part is like the top bar of the Daled while the side is like the leg which connects to it. The Daled is weak. Its leg faces away from the gimmel as if embarrassed by receiving tzedaka from it. We can learn a lesson about tzedaka and chessed from these letters. It can be said that poor people don't know how to ask for themselves. The gimmel, therefore, looks as if it's running after the daled to be gommel, do good to him, even before the poor person asks! Sparing the poorer person’s feelings is true chessed! The Daled has the numerical value of 4. The world is encompassed by 4 directions: north, south, east and west. The physical aspect of this world is finite, seemingly bound and limited to these 4 directions, while its spiritual aspect can't be seen and is hidden away. Interestingly, 4 lines make a square which is closed on all sides. It can be said that it is man’s test to see beyond the limitations of this world. We can use our free will to see beyond the 4 directions of nature. The Daled, the last letter of the last word in the Shema Yisrael declaration of faith, is enlarged to emphasize that Hashem is One in all 4 directions. Last but not least, kabbalistically the letter Daled represents both the 4 sefiros, emanations, of Chessed, Kindness, and the last sefirah of Malchus, Kingship. This last sefirah has no light of its own, but only reflects the light of the other sefiros. It can therefore be said that Malchus is considered poor, or Dal. On the other hand, Daled represents the fourth sefirah of Chessed. When we have no light of our own, but only represent the light of God, we are truly able to influence others. The ultimate chessed is shining God's amazing, awesome divine Light onto someone else. Once again, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned for the letter ‘Hey’ in the next shiur.

Ordinary Week 4 "The Next Big Thing" Tom DeSha March 25, 2018 by Evangelical Fellowship Church
For the first time, we are welcoming back a previous guest to the Style Matters podcast! Desha Peacock has written a new book called "Your Creative Work Space" and we thought this would be a great time to check in with her. If you do anything at all creative, whether it's with a paint brush or collaborative problem solving, you need to honor that work by creating space for it in your life. We talk about how to get focused, how to eek out a space for yourself when you have no room or no budget, and how the traditional office might not work for our modern times. We felt an immediate connection to Desha during our first interview with her because she so beautifully articulated why style matters. So if you haven't already, give that one a listen, too!

Business school says launch a business by solving a problem or filling a need. TRUE. But after years in a corporate setting, the main need that Desha Peacock wanted to fill was personal fulfillment in her work. Did that count? Could she find her North Star? Would others want to be a part of her journey? Tune into the radio show “Entrepreneurial Voice” with Jan McCarthy that airs as a podcast to hear Desha share how she found her sweet spot and is helping others to find theirs.

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We'll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS While the country disputed the merits of San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand for the national anthem, Whites exhibited global disrespect for black life in all areas of people activity. From South Africa to Texas, black children's hair was under attack, as Race Soldiers provided an array of excuses for black girls to chemically straighten (mutilate) their hair to comply with White beauty standards. Illustrating the unbroken continuum of White Supremacist academies, Georgetown University extended an official apology for enslaving black people; however, they declined to offer a single scholarship or job to any of the victims' descendants. Conventional warfare against black people continued with the barbaric killing of Deborah Pearl, an unarmed black mother of three. Matthew Ryan Desha, a White Ohioan, crashed into Pearl's vehicle after allegedly running a red light; following the collision, Desha used a rifle to shoot Pearl repeatedly. Witnesses reported she had her hands raised. #AnswersForMiriamCarey INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p
