DIY blood testing is growing in popularity. At-home testing kits make it easy to collect our own samples and receive lab results online. But could we be over-testing – just because we can? Michael Dubrovsky is the co-founder of SiPhox Health, a home blood testing system that claims its results are as accurate as traditional methods. What is SiPhox Health? It is a home blood testing that can measure 17 biomarkers with just a few drops of blood. This system allows people to mail their blood samples to a lab for analysis, offering a convenient alternative to traditional blood tests performed at a doctor's office. In this interview Dubrovsky outlines his goal of democratizing health data - by making such tests more affordable - and explains how frequent biomarker monitoring could help detect serious health conditions early. ▸ Read additional show-notes DISCOUNTSTry at-home blood testing for yourself:▸ SiPhox Health - get a 20% discount with code LLAMA This site includes affiliate links from which we derive a small commission, if you click on the product links and use the code LLAMA at checkout. AABP Executive Director Dr. Fred Gingrich is joined by guest Dr. Sharif Aly, an epidemiologist at the Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research Center in Tulare, Calif. Aly graduated from Cairo University and practiced in Egypt before coming to the United States for advanced studies in preventive medicine and epidemiology. His team developed and published the BRD 100 and BRD 10K studies to identify various risk factors for Bovine Respirator Disease (BRD) in dairy calves. Aly explains the incidence of BRD in calves and how it has failed to improve despite improvements in tools for detection and prevention. We review the risk of various areas on BRD including colostrum management, housing, season, environment and nutrition. He also discusses the role of on-farm diagnostics and the California and Wisconsin scoring systems that veterinarians can use with producers to manage BRD risk in dairy calves, including the BRD scoring system developed into an app for on-farm use. Scientists have found that levels of CRP correlate with changes in inflammation, disease activity, tissue damage, and more. This is a key marker to track for health and longevity. The standard ranges in the medical field for different markers may be completely different from what is considered healthy in the functional medicine field. For example, insulin numbers in the functional field are considered healthy between the 7 to 10 range, while up to 24.9 is considered the standard range in the medical field.

Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 581 Is biomarker blood testing the future of real healthcare? Michael Dubrovsky, co-founder of SiPhox, joins Josh Trent on the Wellness + Wisdom podcast, episode 581, to reveal how at-home biomarker blood testing is revolutionizing people's health journey, why the healthcare system should adopt a preventative approach, and how you can combine blood testing with wearables for best results. "We went after at-home blood testing to put a device in every home in America and make it possible for people to have easy access to this rather than making blood testing reactive, where "I have terrible symptoms, now I'm going to get a bunch of blood work." We have add ons that allow you to look deeper at certain things. And that's how most engineers will debug a system, right? You do something broad and simple and you kind of see what's going on here and these are all biomarkers that are really well studied, very commonly if something's out of the range, and then we go deeper down a particular rabbit hole." - Michael Dubrovsky Life Expectancy in the U.S. "Life expectancy is not increasing while cost is increasing in the standard medical system and that is not true in Europe. If you look at all the European countries, everybody's life expectancy is increasing and the cost is not increasing that much. America is just obviously broken. We don't have a very strong opinion of how to fix it beside you need more data and you need more control over the situation." - Michael Dubrovsky The Evolution of the Medical System "Medicine is getting better but it's too expensive for most people to get that kind of scrutiny. Having more data makes it easier. If you give a doctor lots of data, such as 5 years of blood tests, the chances that they're going to give you an answer quickly is very high." - Michael Dubrovsky Limited Edition: Gold Pumpkin Spice from Organifi Save 20% with code "WELLNESSFORCE" on everyone's favorite Fall treat is here! Biosensing offers people real-time insight into their health status. Regular insight, rather than one-time results at an annual checkup, helps people assess how lifestyle factors are impacting their health, whether they need to make adjustments, and which adjustments might have the most impact. Michael Dubrovsky and Josh Clemente discuss the value of biosensing and how it has the potential to disrupt the healthcare industry, shifting from a diagnose-and-treat approach to a preventive and actionable approach.
We're finally here - at the third installment of reading "Another Art World" by Nika Dubrovsky and David Graeber. Even if you're a new listener, you can start here because in the last segment, the author's promised to finally get to the heart of the matter: What might "another art world" look like? But – something happened between the last instalment of the essay, published in November 2019, and this installment from November 2020: the pandemic and the anti policing protests of the summer of 2020. Understandably, the authors felt they had to switch gears – so this installment of the essay spends quite some time drawing a parallel between the police state and the art world. No time to read academic essays? Well, have no fear, we'll read this one together. "Another Art World" by David Graeber and Nika Dubrovsky examines how we might re-imagine the art world. Part II of "Another Art World" lays out a hypothesis about how post-industrial ideas of production as well as ideas imbedded in Western thought as far back as Greek myth, unfairly legitimize the existence of curators, art dealers, and art administrators, who safeguard the ONE rule that can't be broken within the art establishment. If you want to know what that rule is, keep listening. Oh, and that faux “experimental,” “boundary-pushing” posture of contemporary art? They argue it's not a bug but a feature, one that benefits those who most profit from art dealing. The rising cost of health care has hit Americans differently depending on their economic status. There is no shortage of news stories covering the reality of those with higher incomes having higher life expectancies than those in lower financial brackets. Healthcare services such as clinical diagnostic testing may be out of reach for those who could really use it. So what are some the things a company can do to make clinical diagnostic testing more accessible for everyone? How can an important medical test be affordable to all?On this episode of Health & Life Sciences at the Edge, host Michelle Dawn Mooney talks with Intel Head of Business Innovation and Life Science Specialist Blake Harlan and SiPhox Chief Product Officer Mike Dubrovsky about clinical diagnostic testing, the way it is used, and the way its use can be improved.“Clinical diagnostic testing is actually a major part of the [healthcare] system,” says Dubrovsky. “Seventy percent of all medical decisions require diagnostic tests. However, the way that it's done now is very reactive, so the whole system is based on first the patient having symptoms and then they're put through a series of tests to try to resolve the problem.” Harlan and Dubrovsky further mention how it's easy for those in higher income brackets to get tested more often, as those types of tests cost much more than the ones for reactive patients who are presently experiencing symptoms.“The way the healthcare system works now is it's really set up to, for the person, once they get sick, to deal with that” says Dubrovsky. He points out how the system is primarily designed to treat reactive care. “The problem is that there is a massive rise in healthcare costs, accompanied with actually a decrease in life expectancy, at least in America”, where six out of ten Americans have at least one chronic disease. In a country that spends so much on healthcare research, Harlan and Dubrovsky think the country needs to shift its thinking and policies when it comes to the health of its citizens.Learn more about network operations center solutions by connecting with Blake Harlan and Mike Dubrovsky on LinkedIn or visiting SiPhox or Intel Health and Life Sciences.Subscribe to this channel on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts to hear more from the Intel Network and Edge Solutions Group.

No time to read academic essays? Well, have no fear, we'll read this one together. "Another Art World" by David Graeber and Nika Dubrovsky talks about how we might re-imagine the art world. In part one, they introduce the idea of the art world creating artificial scarcity and talk about how this has roots in Romanticism. They also touch on the Proletkult in early 20th century Russia, which was founded on the (Romantic?) idea that "everyone is an artist" and was one of the few real-life attempts to create art communism. Link to text of "Another Art World Pt. 1" in eFlux journal: https://www.e-flux.com/journal/102/284624/another-art-world-part-1-art-communism-and-artificial-scarcity/
Nika Dubrovsky is an artist who believes everyone is an artist. Originally from Russia, where, after an education in visual arts, she was involved with the cultural underground of the 80s, she immigrated to the United States in 1989, right after the communist regime fell. Interestingly, once in the US, Nika seemed to take up the same position she had under totalitarianism, in circles of cultural critics and activist. One of Nika's recent projects is the Museum of Care, the concept of which comes from an essay of the same name which she wrote with her late husband, David Graeber, during the pandemic of 2020. The essay imagines a world in which the office buildings left empty by lockdowns are turned into communal spaces, or Museums of Care, after the pandemic, the way royal palaces were turned into state museums after the French and Russian revolutions. The idea of art, and the place of art and the artist, are important to Nika Dubrovsky's, and for that matter David Graeber's, cultural critique, which is why I wanted to interview Nika for this podcast. Nika and I talk about the underground art scene in Soviet Russia, the Proletkult, in which everyone is an artist, the idea of direct vs. indirect action, the creation of autonomous zones, like the Zapatista communities or Rozhava, and at the end I ask Nika three questions about her article, co-written with David Graeber, “Another Art World” which critiques art institutions as they exist today – among other things. ❤️ Time stamps (please add 30 seconds to account for the intro): 03:14 – Nika's origins and Samizdat 06:27 – The Museum of Care 10:50 – “The Government is the Government, the State is the State” (and meeting David Graeber) 13:29 – Visual Assembly, the Role of the Artist, Proletkult and how Everyone is an Artist 20:02 – The War Against the Imagination 23:20 – Storytelling, Creative Refusal, Schizmogenesis 24:44 – Technology 26:39 – Extinction Rebellion and Direct vs. Indirect Action 30:50 – Taking direct action and autonomous zones 40:15 – The Mona Lisa and Its Value 42:09 – Three Questions About Another Art World 42:47 – A Summary of “Another Art World” 44:17 – Question 1: Isn't the internet a social experiment in what happens when everyone can be a creator and, if so, why are there still winners and losers? 01:00:40 – Question 2: Even if everyone should have the access to the means of producing art, isn't art also an act of service which requires expertise? 01:12:29 – Question 3: Why use the word “communism”?

Conversation with Fmr. State Representative Andy Jorgensen, Harriman Institute researcher Dmitry Dubrovsky, and popular Russian-American blogger Alexander Flint, about Donald Trump's relationship with the press, and the role that Kremlin's tool of propaganda war, RT network plays in spreading doubt and questioning of American institutions. RT works in a highly concerted effort to undermine our values through a steady drum beat of negative news about America, all while giving a friendly microphone to those critical of America, regardless of whether they come from the left or the right.
For part two of the Ontario Brewer Podcast feature on Black Oak Brewing Co, Chef Howard Dubrovsky from Live and Breathe Restaurant, in Toronto, has prepared two appetizers to pair with the Black Oak Pale Ale and the Black Oak Double Chocolate Cherry Stout. He joins Mirella and Black Oak Brewery president Ken Woods for a tasting of these two beers alongside his appetizers. Chef Howard takes some time to explain why beer pairs well with food, and points out traits to look for in beer when pairing it with food. Ken also shares new sexy technique that brewmaster Simon daCosta devised this year, to brew the Double Chocolate Cherry Stout. A special thanks to our partner for this podcast: Chef Howard Dubrovsky from Live and Breathe Restaurant. Recipes for Chef Howard’s appetizers are available on the Recipes section of the OCB Website. Located in the heart of Toronto’s Little Italy, Live and Breathe (also known as LAB) provides a unique dining experience, bridging the best of classic Italian cooking techniques and modern molecular gastronomy. Texture and flavours are inventively and playfully manipulated to create a menu unlike anything else on the strip. Find out more at: www.labrestaurant.com/
