Storage often sits in the background of cybersecurity conversations—but not at Infinidat. In this episode, Eric Herzog, Chief Marketing Officer of Infinidat, joins Sean Martin to challenge the notion that storage is simply infrastructure. With decades of experience at IBM and EMC before joining Infinidat, Herzog explains why storage needs to be both operationally efficient and cyber-aware.Cyber Resilience, Not Just StorageAccording to Herzog, today's enterprise buyers—especially those in the Global Fortune 2000—aren't just asking how to store data. They're asking how to protect it when things go wrong. That's why Infinidat integrates automated cyber protection directly into its storage platforms, working with tools like Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, and IBM QRadar. The goal: remove the silos between infrastructure and cybersecurity teams and eliminate the need for manual intervention during an attack or compromise.Built-In Defense and Blazing-Fast RecoveryThe integration isn't cosmetic. Infinidat offers immutable snapshots, forensic environments, and logical air gaps as part of its storage operating system—no additional hardware or third-party tools required. When a threat is detected, the system can automatically trigger actions and even guarantee data recovery in under one minute for primary storage and under 20 minutes for backups—regardless of the dataset size. And yes, those guarantees are provided in writing.Real-World Scenarios, Real Business OutcomesHerzog shares examples from finance, healthcare, and manufacturing customers—one of which performs immutable snapshots every 15 minutes and scans data twice a week to proactively detect threats. Another customer reduced from 288 all-flash storage floor tiles to just 61 with Infinidat, freeing up 11 storage admins to address other business needs—not to cut staff, but to solve the IT skills shortage in more strategic ways.Simplified Operations, Smarter SecurityThe message is clear: storage can't be an afterthought in enterprise cybersecurity strategies. Infinidat is proving that security features need to be embedded, not bolted on—and that automation, integration, and performance can all coexist. For organizations juggling compliance requirements, sprawling infrastructure, and lean security teams, this approach delivers both peace of mind and measurable business value.Learn more about Infinidat: https://itspm.ag/infini3o5dNote: This story contains promotional content. i dunno about the rest of you but there are (many) days where I'd rather not engage with any aspect of the real world (or for that matter, the television series, “The Real World” — whatever happened to Puck?) but I'll still fully acknowledge my bullshit ennui comes from a position of ridiculous privilege and comfort. The all-too-brutal circumstances that are coming to bear on so many of our friends and neighbors will likely make 2017-2021 look like a trial run and with that in mind, EVERY SECOND COUNTS. You cannot afford to squander your energy mocking Grimes on social media when the fucking Tesla dealership is sitting RIGHT THERE . You also cannot afford to waste your valuable time listening to a radio program that tries to pass off a Dollar General version of The Cool Greenhouse as “one of 2024's best” (or for the matter, a Dollar General version of Certain General). I personally think “this is what Jaqueline de Jong* trained you for” is a bit of a cliche, but when it comes to manufacturing motivation, sorry, I'm no Pat Riley.* – “The Most Confused Souls Find Themselves One Morning Conditioned by a Little Gravity”, 1966
In this episode of All Things Wildfire, host OP Almaraz welcomes John Mills, the founder of Watch Duty, a groundbreaking app for wildfire alerts. John shares his personal journey, starting with his life off the grid in Sonoma County and how his first-hand experiences with wildfires inspired him to create a tool that could save lives. Watch Duty is designed to provide real-time, detailed wildfire information that goes far beyond traditional alerts, offering users clear, actionable insights to protect their lives and property. John discusses the app's growth, its unique features, its impact on first responders and residents, and exciting developments on the horizon. He also opens up about his commitment to the nonprofit model, the passion driving his work, and the collaborative efforts with government agencies and private entities. Episode Highlights: Origins of Watch Duty: John Mills recounts how living off-grid in Sonoma County exposed him to the dangers of wildfires. His frustration with the lack of accessible, reliable information sparked the idea for Watch Duty. What Makes Watch Duty Unique: Provides a narrative from ignition to extinguishment, giving users detailed context, including maps, evacuation routes, and wind conditions. Designed for ease of use during high-stress situations, offering clarity and actionable data. From Wildfire Alerts to Broader Disaster Coverage: Watch Duty is expanding to include data on floods, air quality, and tsunamis, aiming to become a comprehensive platform for natural disaster alerts. Collaboration with First Responders: Many firefighters and emergency managers use Watch Duty for its real-time data. The app is now being integrated into county-level fire maps in areas like Orange County, Ventura County, and LA County. Impressive Growth: 7.2 million yearly active users in 2024, a 4x increase from the previous year. Raised $2 million through Google.org funding and $2 million through memberships and donations. Radical Transparency and Nonprofit Model: Watch Duty is a nonprofit with a focus on transparency, publishing annual reports to show donors how funds are used. Only 2.5% of users pay for memberships, yet donations support millions of users. John's Personal Dedication: John has self-funded much of the app's development, investing $1 million of his own money and working without a salary for years to ensure its success. Looking Ahead: New features like enhanced wind and fire forecasting tools, expanded geographic coverage, and professional tools for utilities and emergency teams are in the pipeline. Show Notes: Introduction (00:01–01:19): OP introduces John Mills and Watch Duty's mission. John's Origin Story (01:19–06:01): John shares his first wildfire experiences and how they led to the app's creation. Features and Growth (12:41–15:06): Discussion on Watch Duty's unique offerings and its user growth. Collaboration with First Responders (29:03–31:25): How Watch Duty supports emergency professionals. Future Developments (18:39–22:14): Plans for expanding Watch Duty's scope to cover other natural disasters. Closing Notes (43:33–46:21): John encourages listeners to prepare for disasters and support Watch Duty's mission. Resources: Download Watch Duty: Available on app stores for wildfire alerts. Support Watch Duty: Make a donation or become a member to help sustain and grow the platform. Spread the Word: Share Watch Duty with friends and family to ensure more people benefit from its life-saving information. As the IndyCar teams travel back east from Portland, Conor Daly returns to Speed Street to report on how his weekend in the Rose City unfolded. He joins co-host Chase Holden to unpack the race and react to Santino Ferrucci's monster qualifying lap which rewarded him his first career pole and brought A.J. Foyt Racing back to the top of the charts. They also chat about how Portland's record for first lap full-course yellows was upheld, but this time it wasn't in turn one. Conor breaks down what happened between Scott Dixon, Kyle Kirkwood and Pietro Fittipaldi, a crash that took Dixon out of the championship battle. Finally, Conor details his own contact with Pietro and how the spin cost him valuable time in a race that ran mostly under green.Race winner Will Power joins the show for the third time this season after his dominant victory over points leader Alex Palou. Will marvels over how close the IndyCar paddock is this season, as qualifying saw the field separated by mere tenths of a second. He also explains how he and Santino discussed the start of the race on the grid beforehand and the move that gave him the early lead. Will gives listeners insight as to how difficult it is mentally to maintain a large lead in a race like Portland, where he is constantly analyzing data and watching what second place is doing behind him. While it may look easy, there are many factors at play such as conserving tires and fuel that he needs to concentrate on for the duration of the event. Will weighs in on his championship chances as the IndyCar season moves into its final three races and what he needs to do to further close in on Palou.

https://leosigh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/The-Bear-Episode-4-Marcus-in-Denmark.jpg 豆瓣有篇评论里提到一篇很不错的 New Yorker 文章,“Don't Eat Before Reading This” (https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1999/04/19/dont-eat-before-reading-this),是 Anthony Bourdain 在1999年写的。 New Noise,by Refused Can I scream ? It's here for us to admire if we can afford the beauty of it If we can afford the luxury of turning our heads If we can adjust that $1000 smile and behold the creation of man Great words won't cover ugly actions and good frames won't save bad paintings We lack the motion to move to the new beat When the day is over the doors are locked on us Cause money buys the access and we can't pay the cost And how can we expect anyone to listen if we are using the same old voice ? Episode 34 host Chris Richards sits down with team member Erik Poland to do an in depth dive into their guiding weeks for both the September and October 2023 bull hunts in Maine. The two celebrate in the overall success of the team but also open up with in depth reflection on challenges they both faced. Chris discusses the personal mental challenges he faced in September and he openly shares how he knows he missed the mark with his mindset and what really matters a few times during the hunt. The story doesn't end there though, as Chris then discusses faith in God and how he was blessed with a major rebound in the October season. Erik in a somewhat similar fashion explains his September hunt with nearly instant success and then how he during the October hunt even placed potentially some unnecessary stress on himself before finding a bull in the middle of the October season. This episode, is raw, real with tons of great detail and lessons to learn.
