We cover from the trailer park in West Memphis to the car lots and the flash people in the city know him for today. Along the way, he talks about gambling, second chances, hard lessons, and big swings. This isn't a polished story — It's a conversation about the price of ambition, the impact of choices, and the search for meaning after the dust settles.Episode HighlightsEarly Days: Growing up in a trailer, dreaming of a different life, and leaving home at 18.Confidence Since Youth: Calling himself "Mark Rockefeller."The Gamble: A life built on risk — Childhood bets, dog tracks.Starting Small: Launching a car business with four cars, two of which didn't even run.Legacy and Regret: Honoring his mother, wrestling with selfishness, and figuring out what matters now.Memphis Moments: Viral commercials, front-row Grizzlies seats, and more.

In a topsy-turvy election year, does America's 2024 presidential contest summon ghosts from 1968 — or, is a late-breaking 1980-style landslide in the cards? Host Annie Friday is joined this week by Aiyana Goodfellow, self-described writer, liberator, and delinquent. Much of Aiyana's current work centers on inviting others to dig into their own implicit or explicit anti-child ageism. Aiyana has classes called Why You Hate Kids, 101, 102, and a self-paced intensive that can be found at her website aiyanagoodfellow.com as well as a published book titled Innocence and Corruption: An abolitionist understanding of youth oppression. Aiyana encourages adults to use self-reflection and intentionality in order to create change by shifting out of the model of having power over young people and rather share power with young people. In this conversation, we discuss the discomfort of childhood, child abuse, freedom, power, and systems like schooling that keep children in an oppressed group. It sounds pretty radical but when you hear Aiyana talk on the topic, you will hear just how grounded and sensible the work of dismantling childhood oppression really is.

Writer, liberator, and self-described DELINQUENT Aiyana Goodfellow joins the podcast this week for an eye-opening conversation that just might shift your perspective on many things, including veganism, anti-speciesism, and activism. Aiyana shares their thoughts on the mainstream vegan movement and the importance of developing one's own ideology instead of simply “performing goodness” in your lifestyle and activism. We dive into why…
A couple of years ago, Julia embarked on a solo hike along England's 630-mile South West Coast Path. Since then, she has cycled King Alfred's Way, a 217-mile mainly off-road cycle route in southern England, and walked the Camino Frances and Camino Portuguese! But Julia's adventures don't stop there. In between her travels, she's been busy writing about her experiences, hoping to inspire others to embrace their own bucket lists. During this process, she's discovered a love for hiking and is also writing walking guidebooks to encourage others to get outdoors and explore. Julia's story is a testament to the power of setting goals, pursuing your passions, and living life to the fullest. The first of two episodes devoted solely to questions from the audience—viewers and listeners from nearly three dozen nations spanning six continents—who ask Hoover senior fellows Niall Ferguson, H. R. McMaster, and John Cochrane whether a protracted war favors Russia or Ukraine; what is China's geopolitical interest in the conflict; what are financial risks associated with Silicon Valley Bank's travails; plus each GoodFellow's first act if they were elected president of the United States.
Join Timbo's Membership and take control of your marketing The Tradie Underwear brand (now turning over $200M a year) has gone from protecting the family jewels to branching out into everything from energy drinks to skincare to watches and tools! So hitch up your strides as Ben Goodfellow, the brand's founder, reveals how and why he's extending the brand into all sorts of categories, proving that Tradie isn't just keeping you supported downstairs, but they've got your back (and your taste buds and whole lot of other needs) covered too! It's a pants-off episode 629 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast. A little more about Tradie's founder Ben Goodfellow ... In 2010 Ben Goodfellow launched Tradie underwear, going head-to-head with Bonds, one of Australia's most loved underwear brands (who, BTW, his old man worked for in Marketing!). From what appeared to be a brave move from the outside looking in, Tradie quickly established itself alongside much bigger brands like Bonds and Calvin Klien, and would become a household name … no mean feat as I'm sure you marketing aficionados would agree. Impressed by the brand's rise to fame, I chatted to founder Ben Goodfellow on this podcast five years ago. At the time, the Tradie brand was about to crack $100M in turnover, and was using Nick The Honey Badger Cummins, a well-known Aussie rugby player, to front all its advertising. One of my favourite quotes from that chat was Ben's definition of a brand as being something so powerful in the minds of your customers that they want to go to the pub and talk about it. Back then, underpinning the Tradie brand were just a handful of SKUs … basically it was just men's and women's undies and some workwear. Fast-forward to 2023, and Tradie has literally grown into an empire, full of categories for the entire family including workwear, boots, baby wear, tools, drinks, food and beauty. You can now buy Tradie branded watches, protein bars, moisturisers, notebooks, glues, chalkboard paints, pyjamas and tool kits! Plus they've partnered with some of Australia's most iconic brands such as the mighty VB .. or Victoria Bitter for those not in the know! So now you can knock back an ice-cold green belly tin fish whilst relaxing in your VB-branded Tradie's undies, socks, shorts and T-shirt. What a sight! So, why has the Tradie brand stepped beyond its original core offering? What is its core offering any more? Has licensing other brands been a good move? Let's find out as we welcome back Ben to The Small Business Big Marketing Podcast.
