In Part 2 of Episode 21, I'm joined by a truly fascinating first-time guest—certified hypnotherapist Paul Salter. Paul helps us explore the power of the mind and how hypnotherapy can free us from the fear of judgment on the golf course—especially when standing on the first tee with eyes all around. Whether it's your buddies, a crowd at the club championship, or groups waiting to tee off behind you, we've all felt that pressure. Paul breaks down where that fear comes from and how he works with golfers to eliminate it for good. Then, one of my favorite people on the planet, PGA Tour legend Hal Sutton returns to the show to share updates on his latest course design, the Darmor Club outside Houston, and why—for the first time ever—he's endorsing a putter. It's not because of a paycheck. Hal explains what impressed him about Makefield Putters, their precision fitting process, and how they get the ball rolling faster and truer than nearly anything else out there. If it's good enough to go in Hal's bag, you'll want to hear why.
Ann recaps the top stories in golf, visits with Hal Sutton on a variety of subjects - the money in the game today, legacy vs money, the upcoming PGA Championship. And Ann talks LPGA and Chevron Championship with sports broadcaster extraordinaire Grant Boone

The World Golf Hall of Fame recently moved from St. Augustine, Florida to its new home at the Pinehurst Resort… The post Hal Sutton for the World Golf Hall of Fame! appeared first on SwampSwamiSports.com.
In Part 2 of this week's show, I'm joined by 1983 PGA Champion and 2-time Players Champion Hal Sutton and former PGA Tour Player who is now one of the all-time great Golf Analysts, Frank Nobilo. Hal has designed a new course outside of Houston, Texas called Darmor. It is sure to be named the Top New Private Course of 2024/2025. We start off getting an update on how it's progressing. I then get Hal's thoughts on Scottie Scheffler's win in The Masters and his impressive play in the extremely windy conditions in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. He also shares his thoughts on what he saw from Ludvig Aberg playing in his first major plus Tiger's performance as well. We then look ahead to the PGA Championship at Valhalla and a look back at Hal's win in the PGA Championship in 1983. Hal talks about having his idol, Jack Nicklaus, make a charge in the final round and what it was like having Jack waiting for him on 18 as Hal closed out that victory. Frank Nobilo was a part of the CBS broadcast team for The Masters. We talk about why Augusta National always brings out the best in past champions. He shares his insights on the play of Sscheffler, Aberg, and Tiger. Then I get Frank's thoughts on why golf's ratings are down 20+% this year. We conclude by looking back at the 1994 US Open at Oakmont. Frank was in the field that year and in the press room when Arnold Palmer finished his final US Open round. Frank talks about the emotional scene of watching Mr. Palmer address the press and his fans.
In the most pressure-packed of golf moments, Hal Sutton took down arguably the two greatest players of all time -- Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods -- to win a major championship and a Players Championship, respectively. Hear from the man who definitely had the right club, and plenty of game, to win 14 times on the PGA Tour. He shoots really straight, about golf and life.
Golf enthusiasts, get ready to elevate your game! We've had the honor of hosting Hal Sutton, a master of the game of golf, whose insights cut as sharp as his swing. Throughout this episode, Hal, with an illustrious career taking on legends from Jack Nicklaus to Tiger Woods, opens up about the essence of becoming a true golf champion. He doesn't just recount victories and accolades; he delves into the importance of mental fortitude, the art of resilience, and the profound impact that a multi-sport background can have on a golfer's approach to the game. With stories of iconic mentors like Jimmy Ballard and Byron Nelson, Hal takes us through the nuances of strategy and technique that can only come from decades of experience. His candid revelations on overcoming adversity, the pitfalls of modern golf's obsession with technology, and how feedback from the right equipment can dramatically enhance performance provide a comprehensive look into the sport's evolving landscape. His conviction shines through as he emphasizes authenticity and personal intuition over conforming to the mechanics popularized by coaching trends.Wrapping up this masterclass, Hal reflects on the psychology behind golf, sharing how the distinction between a teacher and a coach can influence a player's success. His personal anecdotes about strategic thinking and planning, akin to those of golf greats like Nicklaus and Woods, underscore the timeless strategies that transcend the fairways. From Jim Furyk's unconventional swing to Hal's own golf course design philosophy, this episode is a testament to staying true to oneself, building a legacy, and embracing every aspect of the game with passion and dedication.Thank you to TaylorMade and Adidas for their incredible support. To find Justin, his email is justin@elitegolfswing.comTo find Jesse, jesse@flaghuntersgolf.comFor more information on Hal's golf Academy, go to www.halsuttongolf.com. Join us as Steve Jones takes us on a journey he refers to as his second career, having recovered from serious injury to capture the 1996 U.S. Open. He fondly recalls the recording Ben Hogan sent him after that win congratulating him on taming "The Monster". Voted PGA TOUR Comeback Player of the Year that year, Steve still had several victories in him before other maladies became too much to overcome as he worked to get healthy for the Champions Tour. He was an Assistant Ryder Cup Captain under Hal Sutton in 2004, returning to the scene of his greatest career triumph, Oakland Hills CC. It's an old-school Scottish design using templates from C.B MacDonald and Seth Raynor. He has created a course that we can all enjoy. It is certainly on my bucket list to play. In addition to hear about Darmor Club, I also get Hal's thoughts on the Ryder Cup and if NIL deals are about to infiltrate the world of golf. Hal also shares his disappointment about how playing on Tour used to be about the privilege of playing the PGA Tour and playing for the charities each week. It was them first and you second or third. Now it's about self. You can stay up-to-date with Hal by going online to www.halsuttongolf.com or following @halsuttongolf on social media. That tip would pay dividends years later when they played together at Bay Hill in 2007 and Arnie needed to sink a few putts to win a side wager. We also learn techniques for how to calm ourselves down after a bad shot and the importance of self-belief. Plus we hear about Dr. Bob's sports vision research that can lead to improved putting. In this week episode I interview my good friend legendary golf instructor Jim McLean, who is one of the most prolific golf instructors of the last 30 years. He is known for coining the phrase “X-Factor”, observing that the greater the differential between the hips and shoulders at the top of the swing, the more power the golfer can create. He pioneered the use of video for golf instruction and was one of the first adopters of radar technology used in swing analysis tools like TrackMan. He is also authored and sold over 15 different books and videos, and taught some of the greatest golfers of our generation. Including, Sergio Garcia, Curtis Strange, Gary Player, Bernard Langer, Al Geiberger, US Open champions Liselotte Neumann, Jane Geddes, Lauri Merten, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, Webb Simpson, and Hal Sutton to just name a few. Tony Ruggiero is a Golf Digest Top 50 Instructor and Host of the Tour Coach Podcast. He and I have a lot of synergies with show partners and mutual guests. Today we welcome onto the Brain Booster one of the top performance psychologists in the world Dr Raymond Prior He works with numerous PGA Tour Players as well as top athletes from a wide cross section of different sports He is also in big demand from corporate executives and show biz entertainers He and I have recently been guests on the Hal Sutton podcast ‘Be the right club today' where I heard him speak and felt it was essential to get him onto the Brain Booster We both have a similar view of the importance of ACCEPTANCE and the huge benefits potentially to your game We got the chance to discuss What is acceptance? More importantly what is it NOT? It doesn't mean we don't care It doesn't mean we are resigned to our fate How acceptance is actually the gateway to the present moment The link to a high performance state of mind How acceptance allows you to deal with the REALITY of what is Being able to play THIS shot in THIS moment from a neutral state of mind Why your brain is TERRIBLE at multi-tasking Why our brain is designed to move away from perceived danger Playing freely when we are present to our experience How brain wave frequency is the critical key to performance Releasing your CURRENT skills is all about being able to create stable brain wave frequency. Why practice in a high brain wave frequency is a total waste of time Embracing the chaos BEFORE the game as a way of reducing brain wave frequency What ‘negative surprise' does for our game A really wonderful session with Raymond that will leave you with some REALLY special tools to help your game.
