Have you wondered what it's like to be in the field, on the land, spending time with wild horses? I spend countless hours in Wyoming's wild horse territory, watching, photographing, and connecting with these magnificent creatures. My recent trip to Salt Wells Creek Herd Management Area reminded me of the profound impact these wild horses have on those who take the time to observe them in their natural habitat. We have done everything we can to save these herds in Wyoming from being zeroed out, and now we wait. We have no control over what the judges will decide or whether the BLM moves forward with a roundup. We do not know what is going to happen this year, but I am thankful for having witnessed such a stirring and beautiful sight. The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)
How often do we wait for motivation to show up—especially when it comes to our kids? I've been there too, thinking it would just "hit me" when the time was right. But here's what life has taught me: real motivation isn't found; it's built through action. In this episode, I'm getting real about what motivation actually looks like when you're a dad. I'm sharing the behind-the-scenes story of how my teenage son challenged me to step way outside my comfort zone — all the way to a bodybuilding stage. It wasn't about winning medals or getting a six-pack. It was about showing up, pushing through the hard days, and keeping promises to myself and to him. I'll break down the three simple but powerful rules we lived by during this journey—rules that helped us grow stronger as individuals and even closer as father and son. This isn't just about fitness. It's about choosing connection, ownership, and legacy, even when it's uncomfortable. If you've ever felt stuck, waiting for a spark to get started, this one's for you. Become the best husband and leader you can: www.thedadedge.com/mastermind In this episode, I'll explore: Why waiting for motivation can cost you priceless moments with your kids. The three simple rules that helped us grow stronger—on and off the bodybuilding stage. Why keeping promises to yourself builds lasting trust with your family. How saying "yes" to challenges can create memories that last a lifetime. Here's what research supports about the power of action and intention: Studies show that couples who engage in regular, small acts of kindness report a 28% increase in relationship satisfaction. Research indicates that setting specific, shared goals increases the likelihood of improved communication and intimacy by 35%. Prioritizing quality time has been shown to reduce feelings of loneliness in relationships by 20%. If you're ready to stop waiting for motivation and start actively building a stronger, more connected marriage, this episode is for you. Let's take that first step together. Key Takeaways Own your choices—no excuses. Prioritize connection over outcome Seek growth in discomfort. Rocket Chiropractic Marketing Podcast - Episode Show Notes Host: Jerry KennedyPodcast: Rocket Chiro Podcast - The Business and Marketing Podcast for Chiropractors Episode Summary: In this episode of the Rocket Chiropractic Podcast, Jerry Kennedy explores two key topics that impact chiropractors: Time Spent with Patients: Does spending more time with patients automatically mean better care? Jerry challenges the assumption that more time equals more value and explains why efficiency should be a priority in chiropractic practice. Patient Interaction and Experience: How chiropractors greet and interact with patients significantly influences patient retention. Jerry shares insights from a book he recently read, emphasizing the importance of making patients feel heard and valued. Key Takeaways: 1. The "More Time = More Value" Myth Some chiropractors feel guilty for not spending more time with patients, but time should not be the primary focus—results and value should be. Spending excessive time with patients does not necessarily improve care and may even be counterproductive for busy professionals. Chiropractors should prioritize efficiency without sacrificing quality. Patients should pay for results, not minutes on the clock. New patient visits and regular visits should be optimized for effectiveness and patient experience. Tip: If your practice is built on spending extra time with patients, consider reframing your approach to focus on quality care rather than duration. 2. The Power of Patient Interaction Patients need to feel heard and valued. Acknowledging their concerns, making eye contact, and actively listening builds stronger connections and improves retention. Ignoring or dismissing a patient's experience can create a sense of disconnection and drive them away. Being present and engaged, even in a short visit, makes a significant difference in the patient experience. Simple gestures like smiling, welcoming patients warmly, and avoiding distractions (e.g., checking the phone or multitasking) enhance the patient experience. 3. Business and Marketing Takeaways Efficiency in practice allows chiropractors to serve more patients without compromising care. Patient retention improves when patients feel valued, leading to better health outcomes and increased revenue. Practical Action: Evaluate how you and your staff interact with patients—small changes can make a big impact on patient loyalty. Announcements & Housekeeping: Rocket Chiro Website & SEO Services: Prices for website services will increase at the end of the month. Existing clients will keep their current pricing, but new clients should reach out before the end of the month to lock in the current rates. Next Step Program: If you're a chiropractor looking for help with business and marketing, check out the Next Step Program for guidance on practice growth. Podcast Reviews: If you enjoy the podcast, leave a review on Google—there's a “Review Us” button on the Rocket Chiro website. Final Thoughts: Focus on value and efficiency, not just time spent with patients. Enhance patient interactions to build stronger connections and improve retention. Small improvements in communication and engagement can lead to better business outcomes and patient satisfaction. Thank You for Listening!

This week we have a bit of a font of knowledge joining us on the pod! Stian is a coach, a physio, a lecturer, a writer and a hard climber from Norway! He's climbed to a high level and he has been heavily involved in climbing injuries since becoming a physio. He's written a book that will hopefully help climbers be able to diagnose their own injuries and learn how to rehab them appropriately. As a psyched climber himself he understands that climbers are pretty desperate to be able to keep climbing and this really shines through with his recommendations. Really interesting chat, hope you enjoy. We spend more time scrolling on social media than we do eating and exercising a day according to a new study. A Canterbury university study surveyed almost 400 social media users aged 18 to 44 years old about their use of Facebook and Instagram. Everyone surveyed spent more than two hours a day on the platforms. The study participants all showed signs of addiction, with people subconsciously drawn to using social media. University of Canterbury lecturer Knseniia Zarhai spoke to Lisa Owen.
A senior nurse said he's filled with dread at the prospect of police pulling back from their involvement with mental health patients. Starting today, Police are reducing the time they'll spend on mental health callouts - including limiting ED handovers to 15 minutes and they'll also spend less time on transporting patients and dealing with low risk cases. Frontline workers have warned there's an increased risk of violence with police turning more of their focus to crime fighting duties. Duly authorised officers or DAO's, are nurses with special powers to assess and detain mental health patients and RNZ understand about half a dozen of them have quit over safety concerns. Greg Davies is a DAO who is still on the job in Marlborough and spoke to Lisa Owen.
