Make sure to leave us a review and comment on Apple Podcasts and share this show with other amazing hustlers in your life so that we can continue to grow this community! In our previous episode, we caught up with a former guest to talk about his own mental health journey this year. Well in today’s episode, we’re keeping up with the #MentalHealthHustle as you meet Katie Miles. Katie is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who offers individual, couples, and family therapy, and she is also the co-founder of HabitBetter, the website & app that is designed for building life-changing habits. Katie helps Daniel and Michael unpack the YEAR that has been 2020. A year that many could sum up in one word: LOSS. No matter where you may be listening to us from today, we’ve all been going through an extremely difficult year. At the time of this episode's release, over 283,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the United States, and worldwide we have lost a staggering 1.54 million people. Locally in Los Angeles, on December 8th we had over 10,000 new cases confirmed, the highest number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Many of you haven’t been able to see your closest friends or family as you’ve made the sacrifice of not seeing those you love to ensure their safety. Perhaps you are one of the many thousands of people who have lost their financial security due to the sheer loss of jobs in this country, and for many, the loss of that financial support means a loss of purpose. Katie Miles shares how we can cope with this sense of loss and how to navigate transitional periods. She then clarifies the differences between grief and depression. Our co-host Michael Lutheran revisits his experiences facing depression after sustaining a head injury during Season One of HHP, and Daniel shares his observations of the growth that has been made. Katie Miles then shares news about the website and app she has helped develop with her brother, Sean Miles, called Habitbetter - "the premier learning institute that turns centuries of research...into approachable courses for creating habits to meet personal goals." Make sure to leave us a review and comment on Apple Podcasts and share this show with other amazing hustlers in your life so that we can continue to grow this community! In Episode 100 (!!!) we're continuing the important discussions of 2020 with returning guest from Season 2, Gregory Crafts. In Episode 76, Greg and his wife Jenn shared with us their journey into the LA Theatre scene and the hustle of not only creating and running your own theatre company but also managing theatre venues in Hollywood. Now in 2020, theatres like Studio-Stage have had to close indefinitely until the COVID-19 coronavirus is under control. Like many of you, Greg is an artist and an entrepreneur, but the events of this year have forced him to adapt. As he openly shares with us, it has been no easy task, and the toll it's taken on his mental health is one that I believe we can all relate to. But what’s more, is that Greg shares with us the power of sharing our experiences to uplift others and finding pleasure and joy in the simple pleasures of life to get us through this difficult time. In our previous episode we highlighted the “Election Hustle” with the Executive Director of the LA Democratic Party, Drexel Heard, and Activist/Singer Malynda Hale, and since the release of that episode we experienced the longest Election Week ever but in the end it’s official that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be our next President and Vice President. We'll share our reactions about this incredible news in our 2020 Finale in a couple of episodes – but those of you who voted, who mobilized, who volunteered, who had the difficult conversations with your families, friends, and communities, who donated, who protested, who hustled and helped register others to make their voice heard – THANK YOU for participating in this election the secured the largest turnout in a US election ever! We here at Hollywood Hustle believe it is important for us to use this platform we have to share not only facts and statistics regarding important issues in out country, but to also bring stories from those who are personally affected by issues impacted by the choices made this year before and on November 3rd. What does it mean to be a Brilliant and Resilient Artist? In Episode 94, our host Daniel Tuttel sits down to speak with Change Strategist for Creative Professionals and Professional Organizer, Kristine Oller, to go over her career that spans over two decades. Kristine Oller specializes in offering guidance to smart, talented people who want to level-up and lead (but who know they are running on empty). Kristine shares her journey of how her superpowers could not only be used for acting but to help creatives with their organization and mindset to ensure that they keep expanding. She breaks down the psychology of how a person's physical environment reflects what's going on in their inner lives and the differences between Messy vs. Organized. Kristine Oller shares the work she does as a Workshop Coach for her Mastermind group, Brilliant & Resilient, and Daniel shares his experiences attending a session and how the journey of an artist is so much more important, and fulfilling, than the ultimate destination. Make sure to follow our podcast so that you can join our hosts, Daniel Tuttel and Michael Lutheran, next week for a Side Hustle where they update listeners about what's happening in their own journeys. Please leave us a Rating & Review on iTunes and Stitcher Radio - it all helps us in our #PodcastHustle! "I don't think I would have found my voice in quite the same way if I hadn't moved to Los Angeles and part of that is...I don't want to say the struggle because I really don't like the 'Oh I have to be a struggling artist'' - I don't agree with that. But there is something about the persistence - the over and over again, facing those disappointments, and choosing 'No this is still what I want to be doing,' and there is strength in that and a real security that you're on the right path when it is so difficult and it's still what you want." - Sarah J. Eagen In today's interview Daniel and Lenox sit down with Sarah J. Eagen! Sarah is an SAG-AFTRA Actress, a pre-WGA Screenwriter, an Article Writer for the incredible online resource MS. IN THE BIZ, and active supporter of local charities and organizations. We dive in deep to discuss Sarah J. Eagens' journey from Minnesota to Seattle and ultimately Los Angeles, how getting her double major in Theatre and Neuroscience led to booking a role in the final season of TV's longest-running multi-cam comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY and what it was like playing the helpful paralegal Carol in CBS' action-comedy series RUSH HOUR. Daniel and Sarah reflect on the positivity that's been cultivated among screenwriters amidst the WGA-Agent contract negotiations and Sarah shares that despite being a results-oriented individual, she's had to learn how to "let go" to allow herself to be free in her art, and by doing so, create space for incredible career opportunities. For our final interview of Season 2, which is crazy to write, we are bringing you an interview two years in the scheduling. Over the last two seasons you’ve heard our Producer, Michael Lutheran, discuss his membership with the theater troupe, “Theatre Unleashed”, as well as his performances at the Studio/Stage in Los Angeles. Both of these theater establishments are owned and run by the Husband and Wife team of Greg and Jenn Crafts. Greg is an incredible writer and actor, as well as super handy behind the scenes, Jenn Crafts is an amazingly talented actress and producer. From their separate journeys from the east coast, their “meet-cute” in Los Angeles and their journey together through the LA Theater scene we get an inside look at how those close to us can make us stronger and how crazy running your own theater can be. This episode is also a preview of the changes coming to how we are structuring next season’s episodes. Our interviews will no longer be operated into Acts, they will be released as one full episode. Also, the origin sections of our interviews will now be shared through a narrative section in our Intros, so that when we enter the interview we are in the meat of the conversation, discussing our guests move to Los Angeles and their hustle.
