Við fórum með honum aftur í tímann á æskuslóðirnar í miðbænum og vesturbænum. Við röktum ættir hans í báða ættliði til Vestfjarða og fórum svo með honum á handahlaupum í gegnum lífið til dagsins í dag og að lokum sagði hann okkur frá leikritinu Óskaland sem hann var að leikstýra á stóra sviði Borgarleikhússins. Það var færeyskt matarspjall í þættinum í dag, Sigurlaug Margrét kom með færeyska matreiðslubók, en hún smakkaði í fyrsta skipti færeyskar grindarbollur í síðustu viku sem vöktu áhuga hennar á færeyskri matargerð. When we dig deep underground, we get a chance to dig deeper into history. Dennis Blanton wants to change the way we think about America's beginnings. He's studying the expedition of a Spanish conquistador who was the first European in many parts of the Southeast. And: At “The Cove” along the Staunton River in Virginia, Brian Bates and his students have uncovered nearly 10,000 items that paint a picture of a thousand year old Sappony Indians fishing camp. Later in the show: Along with tools, pottery, and human remains, prehistoric sites are filled with ancient bird bones. Tal Simmons says these bones tell us what ancient humans ate, worshiped, and perhaps how they hunted. A discovery of seven prehistoric bird bone whistles might be the world's oldest duck call. Plus: Before a state road gets moved or expanded, a team of archeologists comes in to dig for historical “treasure”. Elizabeth Monroe talks about a massive pile of oyster shells she uncovered and what they tell us about the people who used to live in the area.

Summary: Why the heck are we having  comedian on Songcraft?Part One:Paul and Scott chat about comedy, fandom, and the great Willie NelsonPart Two:Our in-depth conversation with the very funny Dusty SlayAbout Dusty Slay:Comedian Dusty Slay hasn't written a song that you've heard, but he's written a lot of jokes, and a lot of those jokes are about songs. Growing up in a trailer park in Opelika, Alabama, Dusty tried his hand at community college before dropping out. His plans to join the army were foiled by an arrest, so, at age 21, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he spent years working as a pesticide salesman while moonlighting as an aspiring comedian at open mic nights. After getting sober in 2012 he got serious about his comedy career. After being voted "Best Local Comedian" and winning the Charleston Stand Up Comedy Competition two years in a row, Dusty eventually relocated to Nashville where he continued to build his comedy platform with his unique brand of self-described "clean comedy with an edge." He became the youngest comedian to ever perform at the Grand Ole Opry and, in 2019, Variety listed him as one of "10 Comics to Watch." Today, he has close to a half million Tik Tok followers, a Comedy Central special, and appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! In 2021, Slay appeared on season three of the Netflix comedy special series The Standups. He hosts a podcast about drinking, drugs, and religion called We're Having a Good Time, and is a co-host of the popular Nateland podcast, alongside fellow Nashville comedians Nate Bargatze, Brian Bates, and Aaron Weber. In April, all four performed at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena to a record-breaking crowd of over 19,000 fans.

The future is here, consolidation is already happening. The middle-level shops will now be at the bottom end of the bell curve. What are the trends at the OEM level? Is Uber/Lyft the fleet of the future? What is the outlook of the changing service aftermarket? Recorded Live at the 2022 Institute Summit, Michael Smith, Brian Bates, and AJ Nealey discuss the future; it is happening sooner than we think.  Michael Smith, Managing Partner, Herzberg Smith and Co, Michael Smith's previous episodes HERE Brian Bates, Eagle Automotive Service, Littleton, CO, 9 locations. Brian's previous episodes HERE AJ Nealey, Nealey Auto Service, Edgewater, MD. AJ's previous episodes HERE Show Notes Trends- what's happening at the OEM level? What are the automotive companies doing now and what are they planning to do? How fast they're planning to do it? What they do now is what we will experience three to five years down the road. Dealership service department- struggling to retain and hire technicians  As a manufacturer, dealerships are a necessary evil in their world because they have to have somebody distribute the parts, distribute the cars, interact with the customers, etc. Car buying experience- is the salesperson/car lot necessary? Do we have an opportunity to manage/repair fleets? Imagine Uber and Lyft are the fleets of the future. The emotion is the connection- how do we accept self-driving vehicles? Your identity? There's a global movement around ESG, Environment, Society, and Governance. And the concept of it is to have this green movement, which is being sold through the media.  If the auto companies can have their way and they dominate all of it, the connectivity, the autonomous, if they have control of all that at the auto company level, they estimate it's a 34 billion a year profit for the automotive industry versus if they lose touch with this and Uber's shared mobility and all this gets distributed, 5 to 6 billion a year in profit. Baby boomers want out of the industry- buyers market for shop In the future, there will be fewer competitors who are bigger. And more sophisticated, and many of the marginal shops will have been long gone. The middle-level shops will now be at the bottom end of that bell curve. And so the whole industry has taken giant leaps forward

He was convicted in December 2015 of multiple counts of rape, sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy, and other sexual charges while working for the Oklahoma City Police Department.[1] Holtzclaw was convicted of eighteen counts involving eight different women. According to the police investigators, Holtzclaw abused his position as an officer by running background checks to find information that could be used to coerce victims into sex.[2] During the trial, the defense questioned the victims' credibility during cross-examination, bringing up their criminal records.[3] Of the thirteen women who accused Holtzclaw, several had criminal histories such as drug arrests, and all of them were African American.[4] The prosecution argued that victims were deliberately chosen by Holtzclaw for these reasons.[5] Holtzclaw pleaded not guilty to all charges. On December 10, 2015, he was convicted on 18 of 36 charges, and on January 21, 2016, he was sentenced to 263 years in prison.[6][7][8] Jason Flom (a founding Board Member of the Innocence Project), right-wing commentator Michelle Malkin and others have supported Holtzclaw's claims of innocence. On August 1, 2019, Holtzclaw was denied an appeal by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, which upheld both his convictions and prison sentence.[9][10][11] The defense petitioned the Supreme Court of the United States on the basis that merging seventeen cases together "strains credulity". On March 9, 2020, the Supreme Court refused the petition.[12]
