If you're planning a barbecue for this Fourth of July, it might cost you a bit more this year. According to the American Farm Bureau, the average cost for a backyard cookout for 10 people has risen to $71.22. That's up 5% from last year and 30% from five years ago. Meat will be the most expensive part of your meal, with two pounds of ground beef costing $12.77, up 11%. Pork chops and chicken breasts have also seen price hikes, though chicken is down 4% from last year. Other staples like hamburger buns, ice cream, and freshly squeezed lemonade have all increased in price, with lemonade seeing a 12% rise due to lemon supply issues. Despite these hikes, potato salad costs have dropped 4%. Prices vary across the country, with the West seeing the highest costs. The increase reflects broader inflation trends and challenges with the food supply chain, making this the most expensive Fourth of July barbecue yet. Learn more about your ad choices. Jason Hartman wishes you all a very happy 4th of July celebrating the independence and constitution of this great country and gives you the latest numbers on the biggest scam of all - inflation! He reports the latest CPI inflation numbers to see how much extra your Fourth of July BBQ will cost you this year. Today's guest is Peter S. Goodman, Global Economic Correspondent for The New York Times and they discuss his new book: Davos Man: How the Billionaires Devoured the World. Is the World Economic Forum conference in Davos a serious discussion about climate change and injustice or just a chance for billionaires to get together and do business? The World Economic Forum institution was started by German economist Klaus Schwab back in the 70s, on the proposition that if you got businesses and governments together, you could solve a lot of problems. He's into public private partnerships. He's into Win Win solutions. But along the way, it has become, under the guise of a nonprofit foundation, a highly lucrative enterprise. And Schwab brings in heads of state from around the world to meet with billionaires, public intellectuals, a whole lot of journalists, the odd Hollywood celebrity, musicians etc. But according to Goodman, it's a charade; they are there to do business. We also recap Vasiliy Lomachenko's brutal victory over Nakatani, Lino gets upset that more people aren't give him the respect he deserves and believes that Loma might not even be from this planet. Things take a turn to crazy town when we replay both the Michael Bisbing and Joe Schilling assaults to figure out who handled the situation better and get Ian to play WWID (What would Ian Do). We also answer fan questions, play the UFC 4th of July BBQ game where we choose which fighters to invite and what their purpose is at the party and end with a history lesson post fight song of the week. Thank you again to all the listeners for helping us reach 1,000 + downloads last week!
