Read his full article here. Oliver Luck was the former commissioner of the XFL and was fired by Vince McMahon. Luck is suing McMahon and Alpha Entertainment for wrongful termination and to recover his remaining salary and bonuses in the amount of $24 million. The cause of the termination was cited by McMahon to be about signing Antonio Callaway when the XFL expressed wishes to not sign any players with a legal and/or immoral past. The key issue in this lawsuit is did Luck breach his contract when he signed Callaway? *** Have a topic you want to write about? ANYONE and EVERYONE can publish for ConductDetrimental.com. They claim the XFL's recently rebranded logos look and feel “confusingly similar” to TOGETHXR's logos. The group claims to have made repeated attempts to contact the XFL and the XFL's legal teams and has now resorted to a lawsuit as a way to remedy the situation. Is the XFL's new rebrand in danger? Time will tell but this is another wrinkle in the already stretched out and fatigued relaunch of the XFL property under the helm of Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, and Redbird Capital.Kevin Seifert of ESPN joins the show to share his thoughts on the ongoing XFL 3.0 launch as it relates to the alternative football landscape. Kevin Seifert spent years covering the XFL 2.0 relaunch in 2019 and 2020 and has loads of insights to provide when looking at the new regime's relaunch as it relates to Oliver Luck and Company's 2020 efforts. Is the XFL working behind the scenes to provide a stellar on-field experience for their 2023 XFL relaunch, or should more be known by the public at this stage in time? We discuss.Yahoo! Sports Betting Analyst Mark Drumheller stops by the program to give his thoughts on 7 weeks of USFL action thus far as we head into USFL Week 8 this weekend. Mark has an in-depth knowledge of the USFL team rosters (due in part to his own research necessitated by lack of information provided by the USFL) and has a ton to say in regards to this weekend's matchups. We also talk, as we normally do in regards to the USFL, at ways the USFL could increase fan engagement by providing and sharing more content from the crowd-sourced alternative football media that covers the league. Mark provides times of sports-betting content that the league could be used to grow the USFL fanbase, we pontificate as to why the USFL chooses not the embrace that. Finally, long-time friend of the show and contributor to XFL, USFL, and CFL News Hub Mike Mitchell joins the program for a late-night record session covering EVERYTHING XFL, USFL, CFL, and more. Wednesday turned into an electric news day on the WVU sports beat.  In the morning, former USC and Georgia quarterback JT Daniels announced his commitment to Neal Brown's program via Instagram. The former five-star recruit is now the likely favorite to be West Virginia's week one starting quarterback this fall.  In this edition of The Gold and Blue Nation Podcast, hosts Nick Farrell and Ryan Decker react to Daniels' commitment, discuss what he could bring to the Mountaineers and discuss the impact his transfer could have on the team's quarterback room.  WVU plays its opener Sept. 1 against Pitt, the first Backyard Brawl on the gridiron in more than a decade. Shortly after Daniels announced his intent to join the Mountaineers, WVU and Pitt announced that the Backyard Brawl football series has been extended.  Nick and Ryan share the latest details on the future of this series, which will now include games in 2029-32.  And finally, WVU Athletics unveiled a new partnership with Robinhood Markets, Inc., which operates the popular stock-trading and investing app. This partnership is the first of its kind among Division I athletic programs, and through it, Mountaineer student-athletes will have access to unique financial education opportunities.  Nick and Ryan sit down with representatives from Robinhood, as well as Oliver Luck, the former WVU director of athletics who recently co-founded the Country Roads Trust, which connects Mountaineer athletes with name, image and likeness opportunities.  Listen to the latest episode at the top of this page, or on Apple, Spotify, Google and Amazon Music. Subscribe on your preferred podcast platform to have future episodes delivered to you.

This week on Inside Great Minds with Adam Outland, Adam talks with David Gow of Gow Media about his interesting work history, current holdings, and future investments. David shares his most valuable advice, including advice he'd give his younger self that any young aspiring business person should hear. With a background working in the early dot-com bubble, David gained many skill sets and talents that prepared him for success as an entrepreneur later in life.  At 40, David had the rare opportunity to buy a radio license. From there, David expanded the business with the help of talented radio personalities who knew the inner workings of a media business better than he did. Ultimately, David further expanded beyond radio into digital print media with CultureMap, InnovationMap, and AutomotiveMap! Adam goes in-depth with David on how he has shifted gears into building a SPAC (SportsMap Tech Acquisition Corp) which can't go public just yet and raise money to acquire a company (ideally) within the sports and tech space. In this episode, Adam and David explore: David's journey from consultant to CFO, COO, to founder. Principles used to develop his skills and grow his business Critical thinking in his decision making Challenges he overcame through acquisitions Defining SPAC and why he entered that space Here are a few breakthrough quotes you'll hear in this episode with David Gow: “The other thing that I think has really been important to me over the course of my career, is listening to others. I worry listening is almost a lost art in today's world, and particularly [because of] mobile devices and distractions. … And people want to just jump to conclusions. But I think it's really important to hear out and listen to all the underlying assumptions that lead to those conclusions.” “I really do love the optionality of our business and optionality in life. We are in a place where we can do lots of different things.” “I really do have a passion and an excitement for learning – learning new abilities, new skills, new information … I would encourage everyone to continually grow in knowledge and skills. So much of learning is listening to people and listening intently.” “Every 20-something person wants to do something significant in life, wants to do something important, wants to have real weight about their work and where they lay it, they want to be sure they become something, and to find a great outcome. And it's really hard in your 20s, to know what that's going to be. There's a sense of restlessness about that because you don't know where you're going to go and how you're going to get there … I say take a deep breath and those in their 20s should invest in learning and growing functions and skillsets and capabilities. Work hard and don't feel so restless. It will work out.”
