That's the focus of a new exhibit at the Minnesota Historical Society that opened in September. The exhibit is called “Girlhood (It's complicated)” and it focuses on the history of how the concept of girlhood has changed throughout history. One curator of the exhibit, Kate Roberts, joined Minnesota Now to talk about what went into covering the complicated topic of girlhood.

Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Days of Our Lives has a fresh round of comings and goings. Gwen Rizczech, played by Emily O'Brien, has temporarily left Salem, fleeing to Alemania to escape Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and her deceitful husband. However, this departure was mainly to pave the way for O'Brien to reprise the role of Teresa Donovan, initially scheduled for a 12-week run on the Peacock soap opera. As for Abigail Deveraux, played by Marci Miller, she's temporarily out of the picture, but the storyline hints that she might return soon to Days. A notable change in the credits of DOOL sparked rumors about Lauren Koslow's recurring role as Kate Roberts, but the actress hasn't been featured since October 30th. Similarly, Brandon Barash, who portrays Stefan DiMera, was mistakenly placed in the recurring section, sparking false speculation about his departure. However, he remains a contract actor, setting the stage for a potential reunion with Gabi Hernandez. Finally, chatter suggests a possible recast for Gabi Hernandez, with Cherie Jimenez Ferris as the frontrunner. This speculation heightened when Barash started following Ferris on Instagram, suggesting that a recast Gabi might already be filming and set to appear in early 2024. Many employers worry their own DEI policies and programs may be at risk, with businesses experiencing some high-profile lawsuits and challenges to corporate diversity initiatives. Join The Sidley Podcast host and Sidley partner, Sam Gandhi, as he speaks with three of the firm's thought leaders on these issues — Jeff Green, Kate Roberts, and Natalie Chan. Sex education– an active fight to break the stigma and promote sexual health, and controversy for some. With so many people finding the topic taboo, it's so easy to overlook the issues that come with being misinformed on what's meant to be a natural part of being human. In this episode, I'm joined by Kate Roberts, a social entrepreneur that founded The Body Agency, a company that aims to aid women and increase awareness in sexual wellness while being aware and considerate of both political and religious barriers. In addition, she's also the host of the Sex, Body, and Soul podcast, where she has open conversations about sexual wellness, fertility, periods, parenting, menopause, and more. Episode Highlights: What brought Kate into the world of women's health and advocacy How Kate uses The Body Agency to navigate the sexual wellness space. How Kate works around political and religious barriers to teach women about sexual wellness. About our guest: Kate Roberts' late father was a ship's captain. By the time Kate was twelve she had seen more of the world, its beauty, vastness and social inequities than most people would see in two lifetimes. These early life imprints, coupled with several harrowing experiences she endured while working in Eastern Europe, fueled in her a fierce determination to make a difference in the lives of women around the globe. Kate sees obstacles as opportunities and thrives on challenges. She often describes herself as a ”serial” social entrepreneur; seizing opportunity, launching initiatives, and then moving on to “what's next.” She is a woman driven by passion and purpose. From 1999 until recently, Kate was Senior Vice President for Population Services International (PSI), a Washington, DC based $500M global NGO, that operates in 50 countries. By establishing meaningful relationships with a number of successful business women and philanthropists, she has raised hundreds of millions of dollars; created public and private partnerships and impacted the lives of women across the world. As a leader in global philanthropy and social change Roberts has parlayed her business acumen and marketing background into a “Madison Avenue” approach; setting concrete goals and delivering measurable results. To that end, in 2012 Roberts founded Maverick Collective (a PSI initiative) to develop impactful projects in the developing world with which to tackle women's health issues. Engaging Melinda Gates, Dr. Precious Motsepe and the Crown Princess of Norway as Co-Chairs, Maverick Collective is redefining what it means to be an effective philanthropist and innovator. Kate describes herself as a pioneer in developing a new type of philanthropy – going beyond the checkbook, using time, talent, and treasure to become a more powerful and efficient advocate for mission-driven philanthropy to end extreme poverty. Historically, Kate's energies have been focused on global initiatives. Recently, her vision has brought her focus closer to home. Early in 2020 Roberts launched Ikigai Company, a private consulting practice dedicated to advising families, individuals and organizations on strategies to design and execute customized and purpose-driven fundraising. Inspired by the importance of empowering women at the most fundamental level, Kate founded The Body Agency, an ecommerce, femtech start-up and a global movement making it easy for women to have access to body health and sexual wellness products, services and education. Her aim is to provide women of all ages and cultural backgrounds an online sanctuary for exploring their body health and intimacy in a modern, affordable and fearless way. Public speaker, and producer of documentaries, and fluent in five languages, Kate routinely appears on TV and in print media, reprising her role as a champion for all that supports the ethos of women. Examples include: 2007 Young Global Leader at The World Economic Forum (WEF), Founding Curator of WEF Global Shapers, Fox News Power Player of the Week, Public Policy top 100 Thinkers, Fast Company Top 100 Most Creative, Vogue 100 Top women, CNN Hero, Jack Valenti AIDS Leadership Award and Fortune's Most Powerful Women. She hosts the weekly Podcast Sex Body and Soul. At the core of her being, is her desire to raise her daughter Lilly in an environment where passion and purpose are the norm and young girls are encouraged to develop into tomorrow's leaders and be free to embrace all of life's opportunities. In today's episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Kate Roberts. Kate is not only a brilliant coach and educator but she is also co-host of one of my favorite podcasts, "Under the Noise" with co-host Wynn Morgan. Kate and I share how we can truly explore a deeper truth to who we really are when allow our habitual thought created reality to fall away when we pay attention to when we naturally pivot to presence. About Kate (www.katerobertscoaching.com) Kate started her career in the field of education, inspiring young people to move beyond their circumstances and see what's possible for their lives. She influenced thousands by creating a space where they could be the best versions of themselves, as they progressed toward future endeavors. Kate has learned from the top coaches in the field in various areas including family life, business, finance, psychology, relationships, mindfulness, etc.
In today's episode I had the unique opportunity to speak with two brilliant coaches and thought leaders in the principles community, Wyn Morgan, wyn@wynning.co.uk and Kate Roberts, kate@katerobertscoaching.com. They also happen to host one of my favorite podcasts, "Under the Noise" available on all podcast platforms. Kate, Wyn and I explore what is possible when we pay attention to the 'deeper part of us' the moment our busy thinking falls away and we are truly present to "what is."
Can you hear a voice inside that says, "I am not enough" or "I don't have enough"? Whether it's money, recognition, knowledge, or even peace and understanding, most of us suffer some form of "Not Enoughness" (according to the polls, 8 in 10 young adults feel they are not "good enough.") This episode is about the core of "Not Enoughness" and how understanding the mind can help us deal with this virus. My special guest is Kate Roberts, a certified life coach based in the U.S.. Kate is one of the co-hosts of the "Under the Noise" podcast. ------------- If you like this episode, subscribe to and review Brand New Thought. Storification is a made up word. But this time it isn't me who has made it up. This word was made up by the lovely Wynn Morgan.I heard him say it in his podcast with Kate Roberts recently so I dropped him a message and asked if I could talk about it with you. So here I am ... We humans are storifying all day every day; that is wrapping a story around something which has happened. Making meaning which often feels awful. The feeling is letting us know we are storifying! That's the clue. When you begin to see this, there is a lot of relief. The stories make less sense to pursue and there is more calm, clarity and confidence available.

Melinda Gates's new book The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World explains that empowering women can profoundly change the way that societies function. She is, along with husband Bill Gates, the founder the world's largest private charitable organisation and has consistently been ranked as one of the world's most powerful women by Forbes. So why has creating equality in her home life been such a struggle? When Josie Rourke became the Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse she was one of the first female theatre directors to be appointed to that role. Nearly eight years later she tells Jenni why she has chosen the musical Sweet Charity as her swan song and, in terms of gender, how much the face of theatre has changed in the last ten years. The UK government is backing a Nigerian advertising campaign urging Nigerian women and girls to find jobs at home instead of “risking a life of modern slavery” in Britain. So how bad is the problem here in the UK? Jenni is joined by Kathryn Baldacchino, Project Manager at Protect, the Anti-Trafficking Project at the British Red Cross and Kate Roberts, Head of Office at the Human Trafficking Foundation. The World Health Organisation has advised screen time is best avoided for the first two years of life. But what evidence is there behind this advice?
