Effective Christianity was meant to be lived out in community. Life was meant to be lived in community. In fact when God made man He said, “Let Us make man in Our image.” Notice the “Us and Our.” It is telling us that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are a fellowship. We were never meant to live our lives socially distant. God created us all as relational beings meant to relate to others. It's time to dive back in. ---------------------------------------- Connect with us on Social Media: Website: http://nbcc.com/ (nbcc.com/) Facebook: http://facebook.com/nbccnorco (facebook.com/nbccnorco) Instagram: http://instagram.com/nbccnorco (instagram.com/nbccnorco) YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6S-3n9PVnXm8zSPHAYVyGw) Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/new-beginnings-community-church-norco/id1462800864 (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/new-beginnings-community-church-norco/id1462800864) Spotify Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5pO17TEIzCxAxSiHkxCl7C?si=JArWQAVgTxCHyN4oVlFFng (https://open.spotify.com/show/5pO17TEIzCxAxSiHkxCl7C?si=JArWQAVgTxCHyN4oVlFFng) ---------------------------------------- If you have any prayer requests or questions, please message us on our social media or send us an email at hello@nbcc.com. The Word of God places the responsibility of the Earth in our hands, so why don't churches talk about environmental issues? Why aren't we mobilizing against the pollution of our planet the way we mobilize against other issues? "26 Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the livestock and over all the earth, and over every crawling thing that crawls on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” "-Genesis 1:26-28 NASB Full Show Notes: http://www.psalmstogod.com/2021/06/climate-change-christianity.html References: The Devil We Know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cCkADnhRqk A Plastic Ocean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zrn4-FfbXw On DuPont: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/10/magazine/the-lawyer-who-became-duponts-worst-nightmare.html On Plastics in the Ocean: https://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/health/case_studies/plastics.html Website: www.psalmstogod.com Instagram: www.instagram.com/psalms_to_god Facebook: www.facebook.com/psalmstogod7 Podcast: www.soundcloud.com/psalmstogod YouTube: https://youtu.be/uh9rBAJpvCU

Genesis 1:26-41 This is the account of the crowning summit of God's creation, man.  We discuss the inter-Trinitarian conversation of Genesis 1:26 ("Let Us make man is Our image," which proves God's multiple Persons in One Godhead (we analyze why He was not speaking to anyone outside Himself).  Then, we look at His creation of man, His commission to man (i.e. man's privilege to reproduce and his privilege of responsibility, called "the cultural mandate"), His cuisine for man, and His closing creation comment (1:31). Included in this study are four ways in which man differs from the animal world.  We discuss what it means that we (humanity) are made in the image of God.

As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Mark 1:35 Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and slipped out to a solitary place to pray.Mark 9:14-38  “What is all this arguing about?” Jesus asked. One of the men in the crowd spoke up and said, “Teacher, I brought my son so you could heal him. He is possessed by an evil spirit that won’t let him talk… So I asked your disciples to cast out the evil spirit, but they couldn’t do it.” Jesus said to them, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you?  Bring the boy to me.” So they brought the boy. But when the evil spirit saw Jesus, it threw the child into a violent convulsion, and he fell to the ground, writhing and foaming at the mouth. “How long has this been happening?” Jesus asked the boy’s father. He replied, “Since he was a little boy. The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.” “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit. “Listen, you spirit that makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said. “I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!” Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said, “He’s dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up. Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, “Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?” Jesus replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.”When you deposit prayer in private, you can withdraw power in public. If the devil can’t make you bad, he will make you busy. “Anything less than a conscious commitment to the important is an unconscious commitment to the unimportant.” - Steven CoveyIf you’re too busy with life to pray, you’re busier than God desires you to be.The secret to answered prayer is You have to pray!God can’t answer prayers you don’t pray!Prayer gives God earthly license for heavenly interference. God’s Not A Party CrasherGod can do nothing without our prayers?Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…”Dominion = to rule, to have control, to dominate, tosubjugatePsalm 115:16 The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth He has given to the children of men.Psalm 138:2 You have exalted above all else Your name and Your word and You have magnified Your word above all Your name!2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.God will not interfere, until He hears his bride intercedes.

Revelation 5:9-10,NKJV-  They sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us KINGS and PRIESTS to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” This phrase kings and priests is not just the future assignment of God’s people, it’s a reminder that God’s original design was and is for the church and business, education, and government to function as one. God is counting on Holy Spirit anointed men and women, occupying as kings in their field of business, education, and government. And God has filled our OT with pictures of His original design to not only inspire us, but strengthen us to translate this truth into our culture today. Exodus 19:3-5,MSG- As Moses went up to meet God, God called down to him from the mountain: “Speak to the House of Jacob, tell the people of Israel: “You have seen what I did to Egypt and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Me. If you will listen obediently to what I say and keep My covenant, out of all peoples you’ll be My special treasure. The whole Earth is Mine to choose from, but you’re special: a kingdom of priests, a holy nation.” 1 Peter 2:9,NKJV-  “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” As God’s special people, when we come together, inspiring, encouraging, assisting, balancing one another, doing things His way, it absolutely proclaims and displays the praises of our God. Kings and Priests flowing as one. Throughout the OT, on every occasion, when kings knew their role of secular, civil, and governmental affairs, and they relied on the spiritual guidance of the priest, all they did was blessed. God’s plan is and always has been that all spiritual and civil structure of any society be led by Him, to function under His ordained positions of the king and the priest. We simply have to be able to interpret this kings and priests revelation in light of Jesus’ New Covenant. His design has always been for the church, His body to be at the center of all civil, social, and governmental affairs. And I do think the NLT’s view, “priest kings” is a great description from the perspective of how God designed us to flow together. But the function of each does differ.  Being submitted to God’s kingdom doesn’t mean unhooking from the world and going into the ministry. Don’t forget God deliberately plants the righteous in certain places in this fallen world. This is why Jesus prayed for us this’d way, “Father, I have given them Your word; because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.” This is Peter’s point that we are to be these royal, priestly people representing God.  1 Peter 2:9,NKJV-  “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” But because we have allowed division between the kings and priests, the enemy has gotten his foot in the door. And one of his most successful tactics of distractions is manipulation and fear. But the church is waking up! I believe what the prophet Ezekiel said is unfolding. “This desolate land will become like the garden of Eden.” Think about it, what if the ascendency of the righteous became so dominant that all the affairs of the nation were under the hands of the righteous? Genesis 1:26,NKJV- Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” The Kingdom of Heaven, God’s government is His ordained system that He’s expecting to be implemented by His governing body, the church in the earth. These principles only work within the boundaries of the Kingdom of God. Which means we have to have a clearer understanding of how God’s government works. God is calling kings and priests together for the advancement of His kingdom in these last days. These principles are superior principles from a supernatural position. Accessible only through faith and obedience. Remember our OT examples, every time kings and priests flowed together, obedient to the Lord, everything they did was blessed. It’s never out of some legalistic approach, but functioning within the boundaries of God’s established government. In other words, operating under the instructions of the King. The centurion soldier understood this reality perfectly. Luke 6, “Why do you call Me Lord, and not do the things which I say?” Colossians 2:6,NKJV- “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,” One of Jesus’ primary purposes since He arrived is establishing His Kingdom, getting His self-contained government operational. Matthew 6:33,AMP- “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” John 14:21,NKJV- “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” But until we stop seeing church as some religious organization and understand Jesus’ commands, were never intended to be a bunch of legalistic, religious rules, but commands from our King concerning the function of His Kingdom. No where in His plan did He ever intend on religion being part of it. From His start, Jesus was setting up His kingdom with people willing to follow Him, of their own free will. Religion is nothing more than mans response to the spiritual vacuum created as a result of a broken covenant. Something religion refuses to embrace is that God in His self-existing holiness cannot violate His Word. This is why he tells all of us we have to put His Kingdom principles first. But when the influence of God is removed form the social and civil functions of our culture, people are left to their own conclusions. Proverbs tells us, where there is no divine revelation from the Almighty, people make their own decisions. I honestly believe that this OT model of Kings and Priests is exactly the answer our world needs before Jesus comes back for His glorious bride. “Father your will be done on the earth as it is in heaven.” Unfortunately, in the world we live in today, it absolutely amazes me just how much people will accept as truth so they don’t have to submit to the Lordship of Jesus. This is why God gave the church apostles, prophets, and teachers, to equip the body of Christ with truth pertaining to His kingdom. Remember what Paul told us, “The same way you received Christ, walk in Him.” Each person has to choose. That’s the incredible power of free will. Just like we believe Jesus is Savior, we must believe that He is Lord. We have to choose to accept the fact that Him and His Word are the "I Am" of His self-existence. This is why the Psalmist says, His Word is flawless, proven, living, and eternal. Forever settled. So, when God spoke in Genesis 1, He established the realities of His Kingdom, within His creation. This is why the angel said, what is man that you are mindful of him? Hebrews 2:6-8,NKJV- What is mankind that you are mindful of them, and son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet. In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them.  Genesis 1, God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; LET THEM have dominion over all the earth. He didn't say, let Us have dominion. And regardless of how much religion apposes this revelation, by His very own words, He established mankind as the only legal authority on the earth. "Let them have dominion" is the foundational principle behind God creating us. God designed us to be His sovereign representatives of His Kingdom in our natural world. Make no mistake, Revelation 5 is absolutely bringing God’s original intent back into perspective, He made us kings and priests to reign on the earth.  God's plan for His creation hasn't changed. This is why He made us in His image. We're suppose to act like Him, not religions attempt at what He's like, but what He's actually like.

Jennifer Fondrevay told me something that I have never before heard from a guest. As a young child, she wanted to become the Ambassador to France and even more remarkably she continued to have that goal throughout her college years into graduate school. Jennifer’s father is French and her grandmother lived with them until she was three years old, so she learned French first, English second. She majored in French and political science undergrad and then continued with her graduate studies at the Thunderbird School Of Global Management where she studied international business, specializing in marketing and advertising. Jennifer figured if the ambassadorship didn’t materialize, her fallback plan was in marketing or advertising. It appears to have worked out extremely well, although Jennifer’s Dad still hopes that she’ll pursue the diplomacy route one day. As a Fortune 500 C-suite “survivor”, Jennifer has been on all sides of three separate multibillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions. She saw countless growth strategies fail due to a workforce that couldn’t pivot and adapt as quickly as leadership anticipated. While she may not be the Ambassador to France she has sharpened her diplomacy skills over the years.  Today, Jennifer is the founder and Chief Humanity Officer of Day 1 Ready, a consultancy that advises forward-thinking business leaders, owners, and C suite executives on how to prepare for and manage the people challenges of business transitions, particularly mergers and acquisitions. Jennifer conducted extensive research for and authored the satirical survivor’s handbook, Now What? A Survivor's Guide to Thriving through Mergers and Acquisitions. Revelation 5:9-10,NKJV-  They sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us KINGS and PRIESTS to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” Isaiah 48:17,NKJV- Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.” This phrase kings and priests in its simplest form is a reminder that God’s original design was and is for the church and business, education, and government to function as one. According to Isaiah, God will lead us in success, but we’ve got to do it His way. The church inspiring businesses, and God using them to supply the church. Kings and priests, priests and kings. The Holy Spirit anointing men and women as kings in their field of business, education, and government. Some of the more modern translations of Revelation 5 call us “priest-kings” or a kingdom of priest. Ultimately, as with any subject pertaining to the Kingdom of God, our true source has been and always will be God’s word. Ultimately, everything about this talk is driven by and centered around  the Kingdom of God. So for true clarity on the revelation of Kings and Priests, our OT pictures of God’s original design is what we have to rely on for us to translate this truth into our culture today. And as we become successful in following the Lord, what He spoke through Isaiah starts coming to pass; Isaiah 11:9, “For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” So as we unpack this, the first and consistent truth we see is that in every account that kings and priests worked together, they were a successful, blessed nation. OT Kings- ruled over God’s people, led them into battle. They were land and business owners. They oversaw all trade and commerce, and managed the nations economy. They were the government of the day. OT Priests-Levites, offered prayers, intercession and sacrifice for the people. Took care of all temple duties, all liturgical functions, widows and andorphans. They pronounced God’s blessing on the king and the people. Even for told God’s upcoming plans for the king. Amos 3:5,NKJV-"Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” On every occasion, when kings knew their role of secular, civil, and governmental affairs, and they relied on the spiritual guidance of the priest, all they did was blessed. 2 Chronicles 15:1-4,NLKV-"Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; but when in their trouble they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.” God’s plan is and always has been that all spiritual and civil structure of any society be led by Him, to function under His ordained positions of the king and the priest. Example: church and business, government, education, working hand in hand. Now when I use the term church, I’m in no way referring to any one denomination or organization,  I’m referring to the spiritual reality of the body of Christ in the earth functioning through those He has called. Priests and Kings working together. And moving into the NT, God ordains the apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor to bring forth revelation for His people. Acts 8:29-31,NKJV- Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.” One of our primary focuses today is to interpret this kings and priests revelation in light of Jesus’ New Covenant. His design has always been for the church to be at the center of all civil, social, and governmental affairs. And I realize that in light of the born again nature of every believer, revelation from the Holy Spirit does flow to anyone born again. But God implemented the Kings and Priests principle as a kingdom partnership, a covenant alignment for the advancement of His Kingdom.  And He highlights this truth for us in the book of Revelation, reminding us that His OT principle was never supposed to go anywhere. Example: If the majority of the kings (leaders, owners, teachers) time and energy go to their duties, God anoints priests to give the king inspired guidance. As a matter of fact, every OT Godly king relied on the anointed guidance of the the priest. “It’s not good that we should leave the word of God to go a serve the people.” 2 Chronicles 20:14-17,NKJV-  Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.” Our OT is full of example of kings and priests working together for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Unfortunately, there’s also many examples of those refusing to work together. Make no mistake, our enemy will be relentless at creating division, strife, jealousy, resentment... he knows a house divided will not stand. For example, our nation, a nation founded on Godly principles is no exception. God never intended for there to ever be any form of separation of church and state. (The king and the priest) As a matter of fact, the popular phrase “separation of church and state” is not in any of our government documents, specifically the constitution. President Harry Truman, “This great country of ours demonstrates the fundamental unity of Christianity and democracy.”  But because we have allowed division between the kings and priests, the enemy has gotten his foot in the door. And it’s time for that to change. The prophet Ezekiel actually says, “This land that has become  desolate (bleak, dismal, wild, and grim) is now like the garden of Eden.” Remember all of our biblical examples, every time God’s people returned to Him, God began to move. When kings knew their role of secular, civil, and governmental, and they relied on the spiritual guidance of the priest, all they did was blessed. My prayer is that all of us believe God for insight and revelation from this talk. For us to have a better understand of the divine partnership of kings and priests. This means we’ve got to have a better working knowledge of the Kingdom of God. Jesus never intended for the gospel of the kingdom to be limited to just missing hell and making heaven. One of the main reasons Jesus is called the last Adam is because He came to restore the first Adam’s dominion. Genesis 1:26,NKJV- Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” And the closer we follow Jesus, it’s amazing how much He actually talks about the kingdom. The Kingdom of Heaven, God’s government is His ordained system, He’s expecting to be implemented by His governing body, the church in the earth. This is every born again believer. I truly believe the two most important decisions anyone can make in their life is first, giving their life to Jesus. And second, discovering why He called you. This is why Jesus makes radical statements like He did in Matthew 6:33,AMP- “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” According to the apostle Paul, we literally are ambassadors for this kingdom we’ve been born into. Remember what God told Adam, “subdue the earth and have dominion over it.” But when the influence of God is removed form the social and civil functions of our culture, people are left to their own conclusions. Proverbs tells us, where there is no divine revelation from the Almighty, people make their own decisions. Proverbs 14:12,NKJV-  “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” I honestly believe that this OT model of Kings and Priests is exactly the answer our world needs before Jesus comes back for His glorious bride. “Father your will be done on the earth as it is in heaven.” Isaiah 48:17,NKJV- Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.” Revelation 5:9-10,NKJV-  They sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us KINGS and PRIESTS to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”

Thoughts In chapter 6, verses 4 and 5, Moses is telling the children of Israel the Great Commandment, the one that encompasses all the others. It’s the commandment that Jesus quoted when the Pharisees asked Him which was the greatest of all the commandments.  4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 NKJV Differences Matter I’m going to talk a bit about this, but before I do that, look at verse 4 from the Good News Translation: 4“Israel, remember this! The Lord—and the Lord alone—is our God.  Did you see the difference? New King James Version says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” The GNT said, ““Israel, remember this! The Lord—and the Lord alone—is our God.” "The Lord is one" vs "the Lord alone." Beloved, in the vast majority of verses, when you compare translations, the meaning of the verse does  not change. Different words can carry the same meaning. But in this extremely important verse, the meaning is entirely different.  “The Lord alone” means, “the Lord and only the Lord. No other god.” Would you agree? “The Lord is one,” means the Lord is one. There are not multiple gods. There is only one god. Would you agree to that? It’s a very important point, beloved. Judaism and Christianity are monotheistic religions. We do not have multiple gods. How Many? One? Two? Three? So now, this begs the question, “What about Jesus and the Holy Spirit? They’re Gods, aren’t they?” No. No they are not.  We need to talk about the Trinity. Orthodox Christianity, or traditional Christianity if you prefer, believes that God is a Trinity, that there are three distinct persons who are together, one God. Not three Gods. One God.  What Is A Trinity? I can be difficult to get your head around, so let’s look at the word that was used in the original language for the English word “one”. Here in Deuteronomy 6:4, the Hebrew word echad is used. Echad refers to a single item made up of multiple parts. The word for a single item made up only of one thing is yacheed. Are there other places in the Bible that the word echad is used? Yep. Let’s look at a few. The first time we see echad is Genesis 1:5: So the evening and the morning were the first day. One day, two parts: evening and morning. In Exodus 26:6 “6 And you shall make fifty clasps of gold, and couple the curtains together with the clasps, so that it may be one tabernacle.” Obviously, the Tabernacle was made up of many parts, but here it is called one tabernacle. Listen to Ezekiel 37:15-17: “15Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 16“As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: ‘For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.’ Then take another stick and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions.’ 17Then join them one to another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one in your hand.” Two sticks become echad. So the idea of three persons in echad God is not foreign to Scripture.  One God, Three Persons Also, the phrase used here in this verse, “The LORD our God”. The Hebrew word for God here is Elohim. This is a plural word. And listen to this. A Rabbi by the name of Simeon ben Joachi said the following about the word Elohim: “Come and see the mystery of the word Elohim; there are three degrees, and each degree by itself alone, and yet notwithstanding they are all one, and joined together in one, and are not divided from each other.”  One final reference, though there are dozens more. In Genesis 1:26 we read, “Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” The word for God used is Elohim. Let Us. Our image. Our likeness. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit were all present at the creation, as One God.  At Jesus’ baptism,

A Christian worldview only applies to Christians, but a biblical worldview is for everyone. What is the imago Dei? Imago Dei is the Latin term for “image of God.” The term is used because it is distinctive and beautiful sounding. Knowing who you are is foundational to both a healthy self-image and a strong sense of purpose. (Watch this video) Humankind was created to be an image bearer of the Creator. This ideal state was to be a representation of who God is and what He is like. Of course, humanity is far from this ideal state. “The imago Dei is not a quality possessed by man; it is a condition in which man lives, a condition of confrontation established and maintained by the Creator. … The imago Dei is that in man which constitutes him as him-whom-God-loves.” –John Piper The imago Dei was the outcome of being created by God. No other creature was made in the image of God, not even Angels.  Look at the words image and likeness  in Genesis chapter 1 Image Hebrew צֶלֶם - ṣelem (Pronounced tseh’-lem)  From an unused root meaning a representative figure or image Stong’s Dictionary word (#H6754) is used in the old testament as image (16x) and vain shew (1x). It is used mostly to denote objects of false worship such as idols. It is interesting that this is the word used to describe people being made in the image of God. It shows that this word is only understood by the context in which it is used. It is best understood as representing the character of something or someone.  For example, my father is technically inclined, a problem solver, and a hard worker. I have my father’s or character IMAGE in me. My mother loved people, served people, and had great compassion. I possess that particular image or character of my mother.  Likeness Hebrew דְּמוּתd - demût, (pronounced, dem-ooth’) Stong’s dictionary word (#H1819); means, resemblance; shape; like (-ness), manner, similitude. This is best understood as representing the likeness or appearance of something or someone. For example: I RESEMBLE both my mother and my father. Is the image of God something only belongs to Christians? Did sin remove the image of God? No. Man’s fall into sin didn’t destroy or remove the image of God. Sin obscured the Imago Dei. Sin always darkens and distorts reality. The apostle James confirms that God’s image i when he states that all people, not only Christ followers,  James 3:8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude [or likeness] of God So, what was the effect of sin when it comes to the image of God in man?  Adam’s disobedience to God, severed fellowship with God, which led to physical and spiritual death. Adam, representing all humankind, became an image without the substance of God. They were expelled from the garden of Eden. Example: Like a wax sculpture that looks like the person, but has no life. It is appearance without spirit and substance. Like a corpse. People maintain the image of God — even in a broken or distorted form — that they are redeemable and worth redeeming. Without it, God would have had no reason to send His Son to die on our behalf. Maximizing Imago Dei Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” God’s image - Character God’s likeness - Outward actions Dominion - Responsibility, tasks, duty, service Fruitful - Utilizing abilities an gifts Multiply - Reproduce yourself, empower others  Subdue - Create and maintain order

* After all these years: Bob Enyart continues yesterday's discussion with Dr. John Sanders, one of the co-authors of the modern classic, The Openness of God, written with Pinnock, Rice, Hasker, and Basinger. At drjohnsanders.com you can follow his work and you'll likely love John's books including: - Theology in the Flesh: How Embodiment and Culture Shape the Way We Think about Truth, Morality, and God - No Other Name: An Investigation into the Destiny of the Unevangelized [compare to our BEL Romans study] - The God Who Risks: A Theology of Divine Providence * The Reply Bob Never Gave to Dr. Sanders: When walking in Eden and speaking with Abraham, God the Son temporarily took upon Himself the form that He would later permanently inhabit. In so doing He not only prefigured the Incarnation, but He also tried it on while briefly emptying Himself of power, presence, and knowledge the way He would a few millennia later but for 33 years. A quarter century ago, after their meeting in Chicago, John emailed asking Bob about his position on Genesis 18 regarding God the Son saying, "I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know." This is like the Genesis 3 Christophany when Adam and Eve, "heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, 'Where are you?'" Most theologians describe these as literary devices, rhetorical questions that are figures of speech and some open theists get pulled into that claim which then quickly backfires. For in Genesis 22 God says to Abraham, "Now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." So then the Calvinist argues that this too should be taken figuratively. Of course the Bible frequently uses figures of speech, including at times when speaking about God. However, narrative comprises huge swaths of Scripture, including so much of Genesis and the Gospels, precisely because narrative is the hardest type of writing to misrepresent. As a general hermeneutic, if taking a text more literally is consistent with the plot of the Bible, and in this case, consistent specifically with Genesis and the Gospels, then the literal understanding trumps any proposed rhetorical interpretation. To God the Son, becoming a Man was not nothing. It was so extraordinary, that His favorite title for Himself became the Son of Man. Recall that in Genesis 1 God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…" Mankind is made in God's image and likeness, image referring to our form, and likeness to our essence as morally responsible persons. For God created a form, that is, an image, for the eternal Son to indwell. The verses Jehovah's Witnesses assume undermine Christ's deity are actually verses describing His taking up this image. For the very first thing that God created was this form for His Son to indwell. Then in that image, as we read again in Genesis 9, "He made man." So "God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him..." Even in the making of a mere fingerprint, which goes far beyond any tactile need and is an information management system, before giving these to Adam, God put them first on gorillas, chimpanzees, koala bears. It rejects the biblical account to assume that God the Son never temporarily indwelt the image that He would then permanently put on at the Incarnation. As at other times, in the Garden and later in the Judean highlands overlooking Sodom, God the Son experienced what it was like to take on not only the form of a man, but also the the limitations of a man. Thus, like He did thousands of years later, in these early Christophanies the Lord emptied Himself of much of His power, presence, and knowledge. The experience was far more extraordinary for Him than it was for those He visited. It was merely incidental that He didn't have x-ray vision in Eden and it was just a consequence of trying on His humanity that He would go in person to learn firsthand as a Man what it would be like to judge men. Another fantastic BEL seminar, this time, on the topic of Open Theism, answering the question, is the future settled or open? The Open View teaches that God can change the future. Every Perfect Gift - LifeDecember 13, 2020Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17)The Giver of LifeThen God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the livestock and over all the earth, and over every crawling thing that crawls on the earth.” So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:26-37)For You created my innermost parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made;Wonderful are Your works,And my soul knows it very well.My frame was not hidden from YouWhen I was made in secret,And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth;Your eyes have seen my formless substance; And in Your book were writtenAll the days that were ordained for me,When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts for me, God!How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.(Psalm 139:13-18)Physical LifeThis is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every person who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—this is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13)Abundant LifeI came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)You will make known to me the way of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; In your right hand there are pleasures forever. (Psalm 16:11)Rest “Come to Me, all [a]who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:27-29)Provision & Release from WorryDo not worry then, saying, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:31-34)Help, Instruction, Peace, and Release from FearBut the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you. Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful. (John 14:26-27)Eternal LifeFor God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)“I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. (Psalm 146:2)

What You'll Hear:   S First, update on my last Selah episode briefly, then talk about Being a Man Hebrews 12:2 - "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Proverbs 24:17 "For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity." From Toby Mac "Get Back Up", "We lose our way, We get back up again It's never too late to get back up again, One day you're gonna shine again, You may be knocked down, But not out forever"   Several events contributing to me choosing the theme of "Being a Man" for this week Last week Parashah 1 - Genesis 1-6 - creation week, talking the creation of man and woman Interview with Terrance McLane last week - Delivered from Homosexuality, rasied issues of gender 2nd debate - Joe Biden asked by a woman who had 8 yr old transgender daughter, his affirming response Then got an email from AFA with a link to a free movie, documentary called "In His Image".  I watched it with my wife and youngest daughter, then I posted it on Facebook and forwarded it to my pastor who suggested they show it to the youth in our church. I strongly encourage you to watch it and if you agree with me on its value then to share it with others.   Highlights from the movie on the topic of manhood men were made made as men and women as women to bear witness to the story of God Rom 1:20 "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made" The pinnacle of God's creation is male and female humans Human beings uniquely reflect God the Creator in the way we were made, including creativity, ability for higher order thinking, higher order emotions Gen 1:26 "Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness" then went on to create man as male and female, illustrates the fellowship of the Trinity 3 person nature of God created man and woman in fellowship Genesis 2 is like a slow motion description of God's creation of man and woman, I encourage you to read this Chapter 1. First Man was created first first born son in a Hebrew family had accountability and responsibility, you may have seen this play out in your family that the oldest son was responsible to look after their siblings, in same way Adam carried the responsibility for bringing whole human family into sin even though Eve actually first ate the fruit in disobedience, and Christ, the 2nd Adam, carried the responsibility for bring the whole human family back into fellowship with God' 2. Work -  Gen 2:15 "Then the Lord God took [a]the man and put him in the garden of Eden to [b]tend and keep it." He had responsibility to provide and protect, Men are hard wired to be providers and protectors God wants men to be the heros for their families, to man up, to take initiative The command in scripture is not for women to sit down, but for men to stand up God gave instructions for the garden to man and expected the man to pass along those instructions to woman Man is called to be a gardener not just a grass cutter - Eph 5 spiritually cultivating your wife, spending time in studying scripture and praying together Hebrew word for work in Gen 2:15, "Abad" means to work for someone.  New T command for wife to submit to her  husband, the greek word Huppotaso which is transliterated to submit from a compound of 2 words, sub and mittere, with mittere meaning vision, so a wife is to submit to the vision of her husband, which means it's also commanding us to have a vision for who he is personally and what God has called him to for creating a vision for his family Woman is called to be helper, in NT Holy Spirit is called the Helper, so we as men should honor the vaulted position our wives are given to be a helper    E Prayer for healing   L Gen 2:15 "Then the Lord God took [d]the man and put him in the garden of Eden to [e]tend and keep it."   A www.InHisImage.Movie   H Pretend the reply all doesn't exist, or at least should be rarely used - Stop the multi-person email train from getting off the rails - follow-up directly with individuals and then get back to everyone once you have something to say

Colossians 1:11-13,NLT- We also pray that you will be strengthened with all His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to His people, who live in the light. For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son. As citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, heirs to the throne, ambassadors for Jesus, our assignment is taking the culture of the kingdom everywhere we go. But here’s the thing, possibly one of the biggest challenges the born again face isn’t so much the powers of the kingdom of darkness,  it our refusal to embrace the world we’re born of, embracing a way of living that is beyond humanity.  Listen to Paul’s words again, He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to His people, who live in the light.  Make no mistake, comprehending all that Christ has made available for His people demands a new paradigm, the Kingdom of Heaven can only be accessed by faith. Philippians 3:17-20,NLT- Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of Heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. Here’s my prayer, that we inspire and equip our next generation in discovering their life in the Kingdom of Heaven. As we dig into our talk, a key principle in understanding the Kingdom is to not think geographical, but be open to multidimensional thinking. In Luke 17, Jesus tells us, “Indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you.” Let’s lay some foundation as we unpack our talk. Genesis introduces God’s beginning of what we know as our physical world. In Genesis 1, God says, let’s make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over all the earth. Psalm 115, The heavens are the Lord’s, but the earth He has given to the children of men. Gen. 1:26, Let Us make (asa) man in Our image.Gen.1:27, God created (bara) man in His own image.Asa- to make out of something already existing.Bara- to create out of nothing natural. The invisible taking on the visible. Adam was 100% spirit and human.Jesus, the last Adam 100% spirit and human. What’s really interesting is that this word, man in Genesis 1 literally means spirit species. The nature and essence of God Himself. “Let them have dominion” is the fundamental principle of the Kingdom of God into this visible world God gave  His creation. Adam was the first royal representative of the Kingdom of Heaven, places in charge of this world. This is why the angels of Heaven asked God, “What is this man you created like you?” The NT calls Jesus the last Adam because He came to restore all that Adam lost through his rebellion  against the Kingdom of Heaven. And because of Adam’s position, when he accepted satan’s temptation he abandoned his royal position as well as his dominion. This is why Colossians is so powerful, God has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son. One of Jesus’ primary objectives was restoring God’s original creation to his God ordained position. A reality many of us have the tendency to let slip is the fact that the Kingdom of Heaven is designed for complete reliance on the King. Remember Psalm 115, The heavens are the Lord’s, but the earth He has given to the children of men. God put man in authority over the earth. Kingdom of Heaven principles aren’t even legal here without an heir of the Kingdom exercising dominion. Galatians 4:6-7,NKJV- “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” 4:1, Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all. Bottom line, if we’re ever going to live supernatural, we’ve got to start talking and thinking supernatural. Romans 8 tells us that we are predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ. God wants to distinguish you! (Esther) But according to the apostle James, we cannot continue living a double minded life.Another way to say it would be, double Kingdom. Romans teaches us that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. This is why a human has to be born again.John 3:3,NKJV- “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 15:45-49,NKJV- “And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”

September 6, 2020   Divine Liturgy Series, Number 1   Genesis 1:26   “Let Us make man in Our image.”   In preaching I follow a three-year cycle: the first year I preach from the Gospel reading appointed for the divine liturgy, the second year I preach from the epistle reading, and the third year I preach a series of sermons specifically about the divine liturgy itself.   This is the third year in the cycle and so this today is the first sermon in this series of homilies about this unique service of worship which we call in the Orthodox Church “the divine liturgy.“   How do we worship?   This is an essential question for any serious Christian.   Any serious discussion of worship must begin with the question “who is God and who are we because of him?”   This is because worship is basically about a relationship between persons.   The basis for this relationship is found in the very first chapter of Genesis verse 26 “let us make man in our image“.   Many of us may have been told in Sunday school when we were growing up that God created man because he was lonely. This is not true.   Who was God speaking to when he said “let us make man in our image.” ?   God the Father was speaking to the Son and the Holy Spirit.   God exists outside of time and space in a community of divine love between the three persons in one nature. God was never lonely, he was never alone, and God is beyond all human constructs of what it means to exist.   From the overflowing of his love and goodness and creativity He brought the world into existence and created man in His image.   God is Trinity.   Throughout the creation narrative in the book of Genesis it is repeatedly said of creation that it was good but when it came to the creation of man for the first time we hear a negative statement “it is not good for man to be alone.”   As a being created in the image of God, man was fashioned for relationships. God did not intend for the first created man to be alone. Not only did God desire for Adam to have a relationship with Him as his creator, but he also desired for Adam to have a relationship with other humans, beginning with the first woman, Eve, of whom Adam said, “this is bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh.”   Therefore worship in its most basic form is the expression of a relationship between a personal God and His creation, human beings created in the image of God.   This relationship is characterized by love and freedom.   Before we begin speaking about the divine liturgy itself I want to go through holy scripture from the beginning in genesis to the end of revelation and show you the development of worship in the history of the world and the history of the church.   In so doing it will become clear that the divine liturgy is not a human construct but is indeed God‘s revelation to man of how we are to worship him in spirit and in truth.

Have you felt insignificant lately? Or are you feeling insignificant right now? **Significant means: sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy.** Our Power Word: Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” See it's easy to measure our value by our accomplishments, possessions, gifts, talents, or even our looks. And also I think we've become susceptible to our value coming from things at some point in our life. States that you're made in the image of God. This means your significance comes from God, being that we were made in God's image. Be reminded, you've been given infinite worth without extrinsic validation. Having the freedom to know that you've been valued by God since the beginning of time. No need to perform or be controlled by either someone's opinion. Live life on purpose. You're significant and a miracle.

Dr. Funches recaps from last week that God goes before us and prepares the way for our benefit.   Dr. Funches then starts this week's message returning to the creation of Adam and Eve in Genesis 1 and proceeding with various scripture passages from the Old and New Testaments, teaching of God's love for us and His giving to us all that we need.Listen in to hear how you, as a believer in Jesus, can trust God to prepare the way before you.   KEY BIBLE VERSES [4:31] Genesis 1, NKJV [referenced] [4:48] Genesis 1:26, NKJV 26 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” [6:51] Acts 10:34 NKJV, 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons. [8:17] Deuteronomy 6:10–11, Revival Study Bible 10 So it shall be, when the LORD your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, 11 houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full. [9:09] Matthew 14:19, NKJV 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. [9:23] Matthew 8:2–3, NKJV 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [9:27] Matthew 9:20–22, NKJV 20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. [12:41] Matthew 20:28, NKJV 28 “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” [12:45] John 14:9, NKJV 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father'? [13:05] John 11, NKJV [full chapter referenced] [13:23] Luke 10:40–42, NKJV 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” [23:50] Proverbs 11:30, NKJV 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise. [25:49] Psalm 46:10, NKJV 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! [28:27] Revelation 13:8, NKJV 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. [32:03] Psalm 27:10, NKJV 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. [32:27] Hebrews 7:7, NKJV 7 Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better. [33:02] Philippians 2:9, NKJV 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.   MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Please visit DrFunches.com for books, blogs, and more helpful resources from Dr. Funches and for ways to get involved with this ministry, A Woman's Worth Foundation.

In today's episode, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches continues the series, “God Is God, All by Himself.” Besides Him, there is no other. We will never be disappointed in trusting the Lord.   Dr. Funches looks back at the beginning of this series with verses from Isaiah. Dr. Funches invites all listeners who missed the earlier episodes in this series to go back and hear the word and get the revelation from it, first. God wants you to get all good things from Him for your blessing and the blessing of others through your faith. Dr. Funches begins this week's message by teaching that prayer brings us closer to God and picking up a discussion of verses from Genesis 1 at the conclusion of last week's message. God goes before you and He has determined the end in the beginning.   Dr. Funches brings together passages from Genesis, Deuteronomy, Matthew, and Joshua to show God's provision going before you, the believer in Jesus Christ. Listen in to hear how you, as a believer in Jesus, can trust God to prepare the way before you.   KEY BIBLE VERSES [5:47] Isaiah 43:10–11, NKJV 10 “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior. [6:14] Isaiah 45:15, NKJV 5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me. [7:37] Genesis 1, NKJV [chapter summarized] [14:59] Genesis 1:26, NKJV 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” [16:38] Genesis 1:28, NKJV 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” [17:13] Genesis 1:29–31, NKJV 29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. [22:40] Hebrews 13:8, NKJV 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. [23:58] Genesis 3, NKJV [chapter referenced] [27:41] Deuteronomy 6:10–11, NKJV 10 “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, 11 houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full—” [29:21] Romans 10:17, NKJV 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. [29:32] Matthew 17:20, NKJV 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. [31:02] Matthew 6:33, NKJV 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. [34:01] Joshua 24:13, NKJV 13 I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.'   MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Please visit DrFunches.com for books, blogs, and more helpful resources from Dr. Funches and for ways to get involved with this ministry, A Woman's Worth Foundation.

This series carries timely and timeless truths to help you rest in God's faithfulness.   Dr. Funches recaps the episode of last week starting with Jesus Christ's words, “It is finished.” Dr. Funches speaks of the fight being finished by Christ, with our part as born-again believers being to believe. This causes our hearts to trust in God more and more. She urges you to take heed to the words of your Savior, who came that you may have life more abundantly. Dr. Funches continues her message with additional passages from the Holy Bible describing how God prepares our way before us. Listen in to hear how you, as a believer in Jesus, can trust God to prepare the way before you.   KEY BIBLE VERSES [6:50] Mark 4:37–39, NKJV 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. [7:05] Matthew 8:8, 13, NKJV 8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour. [7:18] Hebrews 13:8, NKJV 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. [7:36] Luke 8:43–46, NKJV 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?' ” 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” [9:48] 1 Corinthians 2:9, NKJV 9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” [11:30] John 19:30, NKJV 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. [16:14] Isaiah 43:10–11, NKJV 10 “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior. [16:43] Isaiah 45:5, NKJV 5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, [20:54] Isaiah 52:12, NKJV 12 For you shall not go out with haste, Nor go by flight; For the Lord will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard. [30:49] Romans 8:28, NKJV 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. [31:40] Genesis 1, NKJV [full chapter referenced] [32:25] Genesis 1:26, NKJV 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”   MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Please visit DrFunches.com for books, blogs, and more helpful resources from Dr. Funches and for ways to get involved with this ministry, A Woman's Worth Foundation.

In Genesis 1 God creates man and saying, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over..." along with, "fill the earth and subdue it."  For those who understand the biblical narrative thus far, we know Adam disobeyed God's command.  The thing is, though, having dominion was not the command.  Rather, it was to "not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."  So, overstating the case by saying this dominion mandate is an order or command has huge consequences to the rest of the biblical narrative.  Also, we know Jesus came as "the last Adam" and in doing so fulfilled everything needed as being "the substance."  The question now is, "Who has dominion?"  Is it all Christ's or does He share it with His brethren?  And if so, how?
