This episode is primarily a bit of housekeeping, a bunch of stuff that should have been mentioned in the last episode, some end-of-year gaming and the announcement that I will be taking over the hosting of Movie Monday, a feature previously hosted by Jason Connerley over on Nerd's RPG Variety Cast. Movie Monday is a feature in which we choose a movie for listeners to watch each month and send in their thoughts. Those messages are then compiled and shared in an episode that goes out on the last Monday of each month. This month's movie is Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits (1981). Please see the various methods of contacting the show below. I respond to a message from Michael of Mirke the Meek before looking at another bunch of RPG books I picked up this year including Leo Hunt's Vaults of Vaarn Deluxe Edition, Kobayashi's Black Sword Hack - Ultimate Chaos Edition, Laurie O'Connel's Hieronymus: Garden of Earthly Delights Edition, and Brian Yaksha's Throne of Avarice for Best Left Buried.I round things off by talking about a couple of sessions of Castaway by Monolith Games and Stockholm Kartell's Mörk Borg. Everybody loves a good barbecue, the question is though, how do you take your meat? We reach the end of the line for the Walberswick crew, can they save Dr Emory, will Milton be able to resist the pull of that strange amulet, will Barry ever fix his camera. These questions and more might be answered as the Surrey Enigma reaches a tasty conclusion. The Surrey Enigma was written by Marcus L Rowland and appeared in September 1985's issue 69. Keeper - Andy Goodman from Expedition to the Grizzly Peaks Dr. Emory Watson is played by Scott Dorward from Good Friends of Jackson Elias and How We Roll Milton Blyth is played by Spencer Game of Keep Off the Borderlands Badger Jarvis is played by Colin Green of Spikepit Barry the Photographer is played by Barney from Loco Ludus
In this penultimate episode of Audio Terror I interview Barney Dicker of Loco Ludus fame. Barney as well as having an incisive podcast about game design played one of our most fondly loathed characters, Sir Hector Risby-Ickwell in the classic White Dwarf Sessions.
Seeing that Dr Emory and Rabbi Cohen have gone the rest of the gang race down to Wood Common to try and find out what horrific fate has befallen their comrades in the meaty hands of the Beefsteaks. Join us again in this Call of Cthulhu adventure from the pages of White Dwarf. The Surrey Enigma was written by Marcus L Rowland and appeared in September 1985's issue 69. Barney from Loco Ludus has been encouraging me to embrace the concept of the Manifesto as a means to discussing my new approach to gaming and I rather like that idea. To my mind, there will be two major parts to my Manifesto For Roleplay Gaming - the first being the principles, policies and intentions of the Game Master, and the second being the principles, policies and intentions of the Player. Today, I am beginning to write my Manifesto and we begin, as they say, at the beginning: I am going to talk about what I believe needs to be the first principle of the Game Master.Big thanks to Jason C, Spencer, Rob aka Menion, John Alan Large, and Jason W for the call-ins!
