On this episode of the Additive Insight podcast, we're joined by Conflux Technology CEO Michael Fuller. Fuller founded Conflux Technology around ten years ago after spending a decade and a half in the motorsport industry where he identified the opportunities in additively manufactured heat exchangers. So, the company has developed a portfolio that includes liquid to liquid, gas to liquid, gas to gas, and cold plate heat exchangers, while partnering with the likes of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. Throughout our discussion at this year's Formnext event, Fuller explains the company's core competencies, why AM is suitable for the production of heat exchangers, and how it works with customers to develop tailored solutions. We also touch on how the company approaches the design of its heat exchanger platforms and the inspection of such complex systems.

Loveland police have arrested Michael Fuller, 34, on charges of murdering his mother in her western Loveland home, just weeks after he was arrested for allegedly choking a police officer during an unrelated incident. On November 1, officers were dispatched to the home after Fuller's sister requested a welfare check on their mother, who had not been answering her phone. Upon arrival, police made contact with Fuller, who initially refused to answer the door. Officers observed a deceased person through the back door, prompting them to enter the residence to arrest Fuller and secure the scene. Inside, investigators described a horrific crime scene with evidence of a struggle, forced entry into the victim's bedroom, and blood throughout the home. They also found a black dress suit and white shirt covered in blood and a water hose left running in the backyard. Specific details of the scene are being withheld due to their graphic nature. "Sadly, this is a scene that is still being processed today," Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran told CBS News Colorado. "You can draw your own conclusions about how horrific that scene was." Police continue to guard the home, which remains taped off as an active investigation site. This incident follows an earlier arrest of Fuller on October 9 at Namaqua Park. In that case, a woman walking her dog called 911, screaming for help as a man chased her, forcing her to retreat into the Big Thompson River. She reportedly used pepper spray to keep him at bay. Responding officers found Fuller standing in the river. As they attempted to arrest him, Fuller allegedly resisted and placed one officer in a chokehold, pushing him into the water. Another officer also reported injuries during the struggle. Fuller was charged with felony assault on a police officer and other offenses. During his bond hearing, the Larimer County District Attorney's Office initially proposed a personal recognizance bond with a cosign requirement. However, Judge Jill Sage set the bond at $250 cash, which Fuller posted for his release. "There was some disappointment on my part for the low amount, given this was a felony arrest involving assault on a police officer," Chief Doran said. "Under those conditions, I think a $250 bond is not appropriate." The decision has drawn criticism from community members and neighbors, who question how Fuller was able to be released given the severity of the prior incident. In response to the criticism, the Larimer County District Attorney's Office issued a statement explaining that they were not provided with all the critical details at the time of the bond hearing. "Unfortunately, important details of his actions, including much of his conduct toward the citizen victim, her need for pepper spray, and his apparent attempt to pull an officer into the water were not provided by Loveland Police in the bond information we had available," the statement read. "Had the full facts that Loveland Police later released been provided at the time, our bond recommendation would have changed." Chief Doran contested this assertion, stating that the arrest affidavit did include descriptions of Fuller's confrontation with the victim and the officer being placed in a chokehold. He emphasized that any adjustments to charges requested by officers occurred after the bond hearing and should not have influenced the initial bond decision. "I am not here to point fingers," Doran said. "Everyone involved had everything at their disposal to make the appropriate decision. I firmly believe that there is a lack of accountability in our charging, bonding, and sentencing process to where the pendulum has swung a little to where the rights of the accused far outweigh the rights of the citizens." Michael Fuller is now being held on a $10 million bond for the alleged murder of his mother. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Conflux is one of the 3D printing startups that I'm the most excited about. With $6 million in recent funding, the company is using its own methods, designs, and expertise to 3D print heat exchangers. Speaking to Conflux CEO Michael Fuller, we learn that the company now wants to advance the manufacturing of heat exchangers before industrializing it. He hopes to make heat exchangers that can outperform conventional counterparts by a significant margin. Lower mass, higher performance with costs that are manageable could see Conflux enter into a great many markets in heat management. Starting in automotive racing applications, the company has so far proven out its technology widely. I really love heat exchangers as a 3D printing application and it was great to learn more about them. It was also interesting to see Michael Fuller's vision on starting and running his business.

Movies I Love That No One Talks About

Two of our coolest guests ever join the show for this very special TV-centric episode, call it TV SHOWS I LOVE THAT NO ONE TALKS ABOUT. We're talking about QUARRY, the fantastic Cinemax series, with the creators of the show, Michael Fuller and Graham Gordy. A unique fusion of post-Vietnam social commentary, pulpy thriller, and psychological drama, this show is one of a kind. Logan Marshall Green is hypnotic in the lead, with Jodi Balfour, Damon Herriman, and Peter Mullan absolutely owning their diverse, fascinating supporting roles. One of my favorite TV series of all time. If you haven't seen the show, listen to the first half of the episode, where we review the pilot. Michael sat with his mother when she went to the hospital for breast cancer treatment appointments. He was struck by the compassionate care of her doctors, the fact that they treated her with dignity, kindness, and as if she was far more than a patient or a diagnosis. He was in high school at the time, and had all kinds of ideas about what he wanted for his future. That experience, though, gave him the inspiration and motivation he needed, and he signed up for pre-med classes the following semester. When he graduated from high school and started school at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, he was well on his way toward his dream - he would be a doctor. Michael Fuller and I have been friends for years, thanks to my introduction to his parents. I've always found both Michael and his brother, Joshua, to be thoughtful, considerate people, and that isn't at all surprising, given what I know of their parents. As he's grown into himself and his future, we've taken opportunities to go for long walks together, sit in coffee shops, and even have a beer together (after his 21st birthday, of course), and have had deeply thoughtful, insightful conversations. It occurred to me that his story is one many can related to: The decision to go into a specific area of study and work as a result of watching a loved one go through a difficult situation. You'll hear that Michael finished his bachelor's degree and has been accepted into a few medical school programs. He hasn't decided yet where he'll go. I know that whatever his future holds in terms of a career and location, he will contribute an extraordinary amount of courage, kindness, compassion and healing to those fortunate enough to find themselves in his care. And if I'm lucky, I might just get a hold of his brother for another episode of Your Stories Don't Define You. --- About Sarah: In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I’ve realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don’t realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they’re sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don’t Define You, How You Tell Them Will, will be released in mid-November, and for a limited time, the ebook is just $0.99! As a special bonus for listeners, the book will include two songs recorded by my band, Spare Change, in my living room in Montana. Keep an eye out for announcements through LinkedIn and via my Elkins Consulting Facebook & Instagram pages, or visit my website to learn more.

Michael Fuller was the UK's first black Chief Constable and his journey to this position is quite the story. Kill The Black One First is the title of Michael's memoir and it goes into his amazing career, his unique upbringing, and also many stories from his decades within the police force: "Kill the black one first!" was shouted at Michael as he stood shield-to-shield with his fellow officers on the frontlines of the Brixton riots in 1981... but we'll let Michael tell you that story himself! We address a lot in this episode, such as racism in the police, as well as the contentious issue of stop and search powers - the success of this police tactic, but also its divisive nature in recent times. This is a truly fascination conversation with someone who's earned their place in the UK history books. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This week we get an important reminder of the value of investing in assets outside of your own business. Michael Fuller from DPN has done this himself and now makes it his business to advise others on how they can achieve their financial goals through property investment. See below for some of Michael’s top tips: **  If you were to get sick or go away on holiday, could your business run without you? **  Outside investments allow you to take a step back and make changes to your existing business. **  Get a business coach. Of course we would say that, but one of Phil’s great regrets is not having one. **  Do you have a business exit plan? You should always have an exit plan to focus the mind. **  Einstein insightfully predicted that the most powerful thing in the universe would be compound interest. Let those property assets give you that power! **  Take time to sit down and make an investment plan. What can I do now? And what can I do over time? **  If you are going to invest in property, make sure you have the time to manage it. If you are using property as a sideline investment, you don’t want to be bogged down by having to manage renovation and short-term flipping. In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn: **  The benefits of income protection **  The costs of retaining property **  Cashflow V capital growth **  How to take the emotion out of buying property **  The myth of reducing your tax bill **  The perilous pension situation **  What debt really means   Resources mentioned in this episode: **  Ben’s Business Advice: http://www.maxmyprofit.com.au **  Michael’s company site: http://www.dpn.com.au **  Contact Michael directly at michaelf@dpn.com.au **  The Business Brain Food Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/businessbrainfood **  All previous BBF episodes & show notes can be found at http://www.businessbrainfood.com.au **  Twitter: https://twitter.com/bfewtrell   Call to action: Don’t just rely on your day-to-day business and your pension to look after you.
