Most golfers think performance is a two-part equation: talent + hard work. Craig Domann says that's exactly why so many players stay stuck—because when results don't match effort, they start hunting for shortcuts: a new driver, a new swing coach, a new "hack" to finally feel confident. But Craig's worked with 300+ NFL athletes and coaches over 30 years, and he's seen the real separator up close: Mindset is the multiplier. Not the motivational-poster version of mindset—Craig means your story, your standards, your ability to play an inside game (you vs. you), and your capacity to detach from outcomes when the moment gets loud. This conversation is a blueprint for anyone chasing the next level—on the course, in business, and in life—especially if you've ever felt behind before you even tee it up. In this episode, you'll learn: Why mindset is the missing variable that lets you outperform your "expected" ceiling How your inner story shows up in "Olympic moments" (first tee, final holes, big meetings) The difference between playing an inside game vs. outside game (and why 90% get trapped) Why "going all-in" requires vulnerability—and how fear of judgment keeps you small The hidden enemy of elite performance: comfort, convenience, and entitlement How to use detachment to access flow when stakes, money, or validation creep in Craig's P5 framework: Preparation, Practice, Pit Crew, Preview, Process Get your pencils ready and start listening. Click here to learn more about how high-performance hypnotherapy and mindset coaching can help you get out of your own way and play to your potential on (and off) the course. Instagram: @thepaulsalter Key Takeaways: Mindset is the missing variable: talent + hard work is incomplete—without mindset you chase "hacks" (new driver, new coach) instead of expanding your ceiling. Your "Olympic moment" story is the real story: what you tell yourself when you're outdriven, on the first tee, or protecting a lead is what determines execution. Self-belief is built on self-love: most people carry years of "trash" and scar tissue into every round unless they learn to release it and rewrite the narrative. Elite performers play an inside game: less comparison, less social-media validation, more "me vs. me" autonomy and self-trust under pressure. Going all-in is the true price of elite: it's vulnerable (like showing your cards in poker), and most people avoid that exposure more than they want to win. Detachment unlocks flow: counting money, accolades, sponsors, or "what this means" creates interference; "nothing to lose" is why comebacks happen. Comfort competes with success: entitlement and convenience justify skipped reps; rest matters, but it must be scheduled intentionally and paired with proper pace. Key Quotes: "When you add your God given ability, plus the training and the hard work you put in, and then your mindset, you can actually outperform what people think you should be able to do." "The story that shows up in those Olympic moments… is the story we tell ourselves." "It's belief in love. It's self-belief and self-love." "They have the uncanny ability to play an inside game instead of an outside game." "To truly be elite, you've got to have the courage and the guts to go all in with no safety net." "The best place to reside is to be in the uncomfortable zone." "The story you tell yourself needs to be on that billboard… because that's your swing thought." Dhruva and I explore both sides of the debate, starting with the case for fully remote organizations. Remote work expands the talent pool beyond geography, allowing companies to access exceptional people wherever they live. It can reduce bias linked to physical presence and office politics, and it often enables deeper focus without constant interruption. Asynchronous communication can sharpen thinking, improve documentation, and create clearer decision trails. Flexibility can also preserve energy and prevent burnout, which is critical for sustaining long term elite performance. From there, we examine the counterargument. Elite performance cultures often rely on talent opportunity bridging, where proximity accelerates access to stretch roles, mentorship, and high visibility work. Informal trust networks can move faster than formal systems. Serendipity matters, and non work conversations frequently spark breakthrough ideas. When solving difficult problems, reduced lag time and rapid back and forth can compound into a meaningful advantage. Work has historically created strong social bonds as well, from industry towns to innovation hubs, where shared space reinforced shared ambition. We unpack whether elite cultures are built on flexibility and design or on density and shared presence, and what fully remote companies must do if they want to maintain exceptional standards rather than drift toward average.

Somewhere in your life right now, indecision is costing you. There's a conversation you've been avoiding. A move in business you've been hesitating to make. A commitment to your game you keep postponing. And every single day you delay, it drains your energy, erodes your confidence, and chips away at your self-trust. In this episode of The Scratch Golfer's Mindset Podcast, I break down why indecision is one of the most destructive habits high performers fall into—and how it silently sabotages your performance on the golf course, in business, and at home. We unpack the science behind cognitive load, the Zeigarnik effect, and decision fatigue to understand why "thinking about it" is often more exhausting than simply acting. I share powerful reframes, personal examples, and practical tools to help you close open loops, reclaim your mental bandwidth, and build confidence through decisive action. In this episode, you'll learn: Why indecision creates cognitive overload and drains your mental performance How open mental loops (the Zeigarnik effect) silently exhaust your energy Why indecision is often avoidance dressed up as analysis The difference between gathering information and delaying courage How decisive action builds identity-level confidence Why "what if it works?" is the more powerful question Practical prompts to help you close the loop and act today If you're serious about becoming a scratch golfer, scaling your business, or becoming the man you know you're capable of being—this is the episode that challenges you to finally make the decision you already know needs to be made. Open loops drain energy until you close them. Waiting for certainty kills momentum; decisiveness builds clarity and confidence. Indecision is often avoidance disguised as "needing more time." You become someone who trusts himself by acting like someone who trusts himself. Key Quotes: "High performers don't collapse because they make bad decisions—they collapse because they don't make decisions at all." "Indecision is avoidance dressed up as analysis." In this unique two-part episode, we delve into elite performance at England Golf, covering girls, women, boys and men's national squads and exploring what it truly takes to succeed at the highest level of the sport. Leighton spends two days on the ground at the National Golf Centre, gaining a real feel for the work that goes into driving success at national level. The episode not only highlights the structure behind the programme but also offers valuable insight and perspective directly from the players experiencing it first-hand. We begin this second part with an in-depth conversation with Jenny Henderson and Ben Gorvett, Performance Managers working across the girls', women's, boys' and men's squads. Jenny and Ben offer a clear perspective on how the performance programme is structured and how they support players at different stages of their development. They discuss the balance between long-term athlete development and short-term performance, how individual player plans are built, and the importance of aligning coaching, physical preparation, psychology and competition scheduling to help players perform at their best. Next, we hear from Tyler Weaver, speaking to us from Tallahassee, Florida, where he is currently studying at Florida State University while also representing the men's squad. Tyler shares his experience of combining university golf in the United States with international performance expectations, and reflects on the challenges and opportunities that come with that environment. A standout moment in his journey so far was competing in the 2025 US Open at Oakmont, and Tyler gives insight into what that experience was like and what he took away from competing on one of golf's biggest stages. We then catch up with Nick Soto, England Golf Putting Coach, who explains his role within the programme and the impact of having access to world-class facilities. Nick talks through how he works with players to develop their putting skills and the importance of measurement, feedback and how psychology and small performance gains on the greens can translate into meaningful results in competition. To close the episode, we speak with Annabel Peaford and Charlotte Naughton from the women's squad. Both are highly talented prospects who have progressed through the England Golf pathway, and they share their experiences of life within the programme. Annabel and Charlotte reflect on their development so far, the support around them, and their ambitions for the future as they continue to push towards the next level of the game. This episode offers a rounded look at performance golf—from those designing and delivering the programme, to the players living it day to day—and highlights the depth of talent and expertise within England Golf. In this enlightening podcast episode, Dr. Jake Huebner shares his journey and insights on how a holistic approach, including genetic testing, bloodwork and precise Lifestyle adjustments can empower both, men and women to achieve their health & fitness goals. Main Content:1. **Meet Dr. Jake Huebner** Dr. Jake Huebner is a chiropractor and the founder of Spartic Health, an online platform dedicated to health and wellness. With over 15 years of experience in bodybuilding and powerlifting, he combines his passion for fitness with a deep understanding of blood work and genetic testing. Dr. Huebner emphasizes the importance of realizing one's full potential, not just physically, but also spiritually and emotionally.2. **The Evolution of a Holistic Approach** In the podcast, Dr. Huebner discusses how his background in chiropractic care led him to develop a more holistic approach to health. He acknowledges the limitations of traditional chiropractic methods and the stigma surrounding the profession. This realization prompted him to pursue additional avenues, such as rehabilitation techniques, blood work, and functional medicine, to create a comprehensive health solution for his clients. 3. **Understanding Genetics and Blood Work** Dr. Huebner elaborates on the significance of genetics and blood work in personalizing health strategies. Using advanced genetic testing from 3 by 4 Genetics, he can evaluate over 170 genes across six health categories, including nutrition, recovery, and brain health. This detailed analysis helps patients understand their unique predispositions and how to manage them effectively. For instance, genetic tests reveal why certain individuals may respond differently to specific diets or exercise regimens.4. **The Importance of Long-Term Commitment** One of the key messages shared by Dr. Huebner is the need for patience and discipline when pursuing health goals. Many individuals seek quick fixes, but he highlights that true transformation requires consistent effort over time. Together, we will explore identity, upper limits, resilience, flow states, and what high performance looks like in everyday life. This week, host Richard Graves sits down with one of the most energetic and thought-provoking voices in modern performance: Niklas Virtanen, Head of Sports Science at FC Midtjylland. If you've ever wondered how a club without the financial muscle of Europe's giants consistently outperforms bigger teams, beating Nottingham Forest away, winning at Celtic, and challenging at the top of the Danish Superliga, this conversation tells you exactly how they do it. Niklas is a rare blend of passion, creativity and evidence-based practice. His presentation at a recent Catapult event had the entire room hooked, and this episode delivers the same energy. From dismantling traditional GPS limitations to redefining how football teams train for micro-actions, set pieces, and physical dominance, Niklas pulls back the curtain on the processes driving Midtjylland's success. This episode goes deep into the real-world application of sports science, the balance between data and intuition, and why sometimes the most powerful competitive advantage is simply learning to “solve problems without money.” Things You Will Learn * Why FC Midtjylland's entire model is built on “solving problems without money” and how data gives them a competitive edge. * How Niklas and his team dominate set pieces using Trackman technology and detailed ball-flight analytics. * Why GPS alone is blind to football's most important movements, and how inertial data captures the micro-actions that matter. * How to use accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers to measure real football movement quality. * The truth about injury “prediction,” why we still don't know athletes' limits, and why subjective data is often your most valuable input. * How to balance analytics with player feelings, coaching intuition, and the “eyeball test.” * Why communication, not technology, is the biggest challenge when coaching staffs change. * Practical ways to design training exercises that actually transfer to match actions (including why traditional rondos may be overrated). * How to create buy-in across departments in fast-moving environments with shifting coaching teams. * Why the best decisions come from leading with data first, then layering coaching opinions on top. About Niklas Virtanen Niklas Virtanen is the Head of Sports Science at FC Midtjylland, one of Europe's most forward-thinking football clubs and pioneers in data-driven performance. From Finland's Jyvaskyla to the top of the Danish Superliga, Niklas has carved out a journey defined by curiosity, relentless learning, and a willingness to challenge traditional methods. Starting his career as a physiotherapist, he transitioned into coaching, performance, and ultimately sports science — where he discovered his passion for practical, applied, football-specific methodology. At Midtjylland, Niklas plays a central role in integrating data, performance analytics, inertial technology and coaching processes. His approach blends scientific rigour with real-world applicability, always anchoring decisions in the question: “Does this help the players perform?” He collaborates closely with coaches, mental performance staff, physios, analysts, and leadership teams, shaping a holistic performance culture built around trust, objective data, and constant communication. Niklas is known across the professional football community for his high energy, creativity, authenticity, and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of what sports science can be. You'll often find him speaking to — and learning from — industry leaders such as Chris Barnes and Paul Balsom, who he credits with encouraging him to explore unconventional ideas, test them in the real world, and build evidence from the ground up. He shares many of these insights on LinkedIn, where he's become a respected voice for modern performance practitioners. This week on the Science for Sport podcast, host Richard Graves is joined by boxing legend Johnny Nelson MBE, the longest-reigning cruiserweight world champion in history. With a story that spans early losses, a transformative mentorship under Brendan Ingle, mental resilience, structural discipline, and elite-level performance, Johnny offers a rare window into the mindset and preparation of a world-class athlete. From his humble Sheffield upbringing through a gritty apprenticeship in Europe to standing atop the world with 13 title defences, Johnny reflects on the physical demands of his sport, the mental architecture that carried him, and how those lessons translate into high-performance sport science environments today. Whether you're working with elite athletes, exploring pathway development, or investigating the interplay of mindset, culture and performance. This episode delivers actionable insight. You'll Learn * How deliberate structure and environment in the early years set Johnny's foundation for world-class performance, and what that means for athlete development pipelines in elite sport. * The interplay between physical conditioning and mental readiness: why Johnny argues that even 99% physical fitness isn't enough without mental strength to match. * How a coach/mentor adapted learning modality to individual athlete needs (story-based learning vs. written instruction) and how that insight translates to sport science practice. * The “apprenticeship phase” of elite athletes: why Johnny spent six years as a sparring partner across Europe, what he learned about failure, character-building and resilience, and how that maps to athlete development models. * The transition out of elite competition: Johnny's reflections on his own injury-forced retirement, loss of gym identity and how elite sport practitioners can support athlete exit and long-term wellbeing. * Practical take-aways on environment design, multicultural team culture, and creating performance contexts that simulate hostile or challenging conditions (drawing on Johnny's anecdotes of gym culture and travelling abroad). About Johnny Nelson Johnny Nelson (born 4 January 1967, Sheffield) turned professional in 1986 after a modest amateur career. He trained under iconic coach Brendan Ingle at the Wincobank gym in Sheffield, where he developed not only boxing skills but a mindset of relentless belief and self-validation. In March 1999 he captured the WBO Cruiserweight World Title and held it until his retirement in 2006—during which he defended it 13 times, the most ever in cruiserweight history. Post-career, Johnny has built a prominent role as a boxing pundit, keynote speaker, and mentor around mindset, resilience and high-performance culture. Are your relationships built on conscious connection—or silent assumptions? Most couples, parents, and even leaders don't realize they're operating on unspoken rules and old programming that quietly sabotage communication, intimacy, and trust. So how do we break free from those reactive patterns and build relationships that actually grow with us?In this episode, host Matt Beaudreau sits down with Michael Ostrolenk, a Master Coach in Resilience, Leadership, and Elite Performance with over three decades of experience guiding high-achieving individuals, couples, and teams. A former Director of Human Resilience at Apeiron Zoh and co-creator of SEALFIT's Unbeatable Mind Academy, Michael integrates psychology, physiology, and spiritual development to create holistic transformation. Through his groundbreaking Relationship Dojo framework, he helps couples cultivate conscious communication, emotional safety, and co-evolution in love and partnership.Whether you're a spouse, a parent, or a leader, this conversation will challenge you to slow down, tune in, and start creating relationships with awareness instead of habit.Listen now and learn how to move from “me vs. you” to “we're in this together.”Quotes:"It's not enough just to have conscious agreements. You actually have to have the capability of embodying those agreements." "If I can impart anything with all my people, I work with a much more playful attitude to life. Even when life conditions are really hard and challenging, we have one of two options: we can fall back to our level of training, or we can evolve ourselves to be much more playful." "Self-awareness is key—what you need, want, and desire, you need to express in a healthy, useful way, and then have a conversation around it." Actionable Takeaways:Audit Your Unspoken Rules: Reflect on what “unwritten agreements” exist in your relationship or family. Which habits or assumptions are you still following from your upbringing that no longer serve you?Create One Conscious Agreement: Sit down with your partner or team and intentionally redefine how you'll handle a recurring challenge—whether it's communication, money, or conflict. Make it clear, mutual, and revisited regularly.Practice Co-Regulation Daily: The next time tension rises, pause. Make eye contact, breathe together, or simply place a hand on your partner's heart. Regulate before you respond.Optimize Your Human System: Track your sleep, nutrition, and stress this week. Notice how your physical energy affects your patience, empathy, and ability to connect with others.Shift from “Me” to “We”: Before your next disagreement, ask yourself, “How can we solve this together?”—not “How can I win?” This simple reframe can transform your relationship dynamic over time. Conclusion:True connection isn't built through perfect communication—it's built through awareness, intention, and growth. As Michael Ostrolenk reminds us, thriving relationships require continuous excavation, conscious agreements, and the willingness to evolve together. When we learn to regulate ourselves, support our partners, and approach life with curiosity and playfulness, we move from reacting out of habit to responding with purpose.Start small. Have one intentional conversation, take one deep breath before you respond, and watch how even the smallest shifts can transform your relationship—and yourself.

Ever feel like you're working harder than ever but still not hitting that next level of success? Like no matter how much you push, something inside keeps holding you back? In this episode of The Happy Hustle Podcast I chat with my man Itamar Marani — a world-class performance and mindset coach who's helped top entrepreneurs, executives, and high achievers break through the internal barriers that keep them stuck.Itamar's got a fascinating background — from serving in the Israeli Special Forces to working as a federal agent, and now coaching elite performers across the globe. His new book, Elite Performance, dives deep into what it really takes to achieve audacious goals — not by doing more, but by winning the war within. In this conversation, we unpack how to create psychological freedom, build guardrails to protect what matters most, and remove the “performance anchors” that quietly weigh us down. One of the biggest truths Itamar drops in this episode is that clarity creates freedom. When you know exactly what you want not what others expect of you , you can channel your energy toward what truly matters. He also explains how humility plays a powerful role in success. Sometimes, we hold on to toxic relationships, outdated beliefs, or unnecessary responsibilities out of guilt or pride. But real growth happens when we have the courage to let go of what no longer serves us.We also talk about the balance between ambition and peace. So many people dull their drive because they're afraid of the sacrifices success might demand. But Itamar flips that mindset. He shares how putting up the right guardrails boundaries that protect your health, relationships, and well-being that actually gives you the permission to go all in without fear. Think of it like bowling with bumpers — you can give it everything you've got, knowing you won't crash into the gutter.Another key takeaway: performance = skill + pressure management. In this 292nd episode of Take Flight Weekly, we're digging into the real drivers of elite performance. Not theories. Not motivational fluff. We're talking about the psychology, systems, habits, and feedback loops that keep top producers at the top — and why “waiting to feel motivated” is one of the fastest ways to stall your business. Here's the truth: money may get you started, but it rarely keeps you going. Once your financial base is secure, the real fuel comes from clarity, recognition, purpose, and the environment you operate in. Elite producers know this — and they intentionally build those triggers into their daily routine.
In this episode, performance nutritionist Daniel Davey discusses how his approach to elite sports nutrition has evolved over his career. Davey reflects on his decade working with top Irish teams (Dublin GAA/football and Leinster Rugby) and how stepping away from those environments led him to rethink the role of a nutrition practitioner. The central theme is a shift from a traditional prescriptive model, where the expert provides meal plans and quick solutions, to a philosophy centered on athlete empowerment, education, and long-term habit development. Davey emphasizes that true high performance is achieved not by spoon-feeding athletes every nutrient, but by cultivating their independence, adaptability, and ownership of the process. This episode delves into practical strategies for fostering that ownership, such as encouraging self-reflection, building a supportive “nutrition culture,” and focusing on sustainable habits over short-term fixes. This discussion is highly relevant to nutrition science and clinical practice because it addresses the often-overlooked behavioral and cultural aspects of dietary change. Health professionals will recognize parallels to coaching clients in any setting: the importance of engaging individuals in their own nutrition planning, the value of reflective practice, and the balance between providing support and encouraging autonomy.
