Hunter is from Monroeville, Ohio, where the population in 2022 was 1,282. Despite the small size, Hunter did big things. He was a 4x Ohio state champion, ending his career 193-2. Hunter traveled 2 hours south and went to THE Ohio State University. While there, he became a 2x AA, finishing 3rd and 6th. Although injuries derailed his final two years of college, Hunter was still a member of the 2015 national title team, the first in Buckeye history. It's SHORT TIME SHOTS … a quick look at the day's top wrestling stories. Just going with the big news for October 31 as the National Wrestling Hall of Fame has, quite literally, the honors. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame recently announced its Class of 2024, and it's an illustrious group that has made significant contributions to the sport of wrestling. The class includes Distinguished Members Tadaaki Hatta, Toccara Montgomery, Coleman Scott, and Logan Stieber. These four individuals have had a profound impact on the sport. J.R. Johnson, Darryl Miller, Jonathan Koch and Colonel Steve Banach will also be honored by The Hall.-Tadaaki Hatta, originally from Tokyo, Japan, moved to the United States in 1961 and became an NCAA champion and two-time national champion for Oklahoma State University. Hatta has a storied career in coaching, having been part of the U.S. men's freestyle coaching staff for the Olympics in 1988, 1992, and 1996. He also coached the Japanese Olympic team in 1968 and 1984 and the Mexican Olympic team in 1972. Hatta has been an art teacher, wrestling coach, and trainer at high schools in Ohio for 40 years. His contributions to the sport are immense, and he has been a guiding force in the development of wrestling at both the national and international levels.-Toccara Montgomery is another name that stands out. She is considered one of the most dominant female wrestlers in United States history. Montgomery made history in 2004 as the first Black woman to wrestle for the U.S. in the Olympics. She was a four-time United States Open champion and the Pan Am champion in 2002 and 2003. Montgomery was a two-time national champion for the University of the Cumberlands and has been inducted into multiple halls of fame. She currently serves as an assistant principal and continues to contribute to the sport as a coach.-Coleman Scott won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and was a four-time All-American, finishing his college career as an NCAA champion for Oklahoma State. He was a member of the U.S. National Freestyle Team multiple times and has contributed as a coach at both Oklahoma State and the University of North Carolina. Scott's achievements on the mat are paralleled by his contributions as a coach, nurturing the next generation of wrestling talent.-Logan Stieber is another name that resonates in the wrestling community. He became the first Big Ten Conference wrestler and the fourth wrestler overall to be a four-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion. Stieber led Ohio State to its first wrestling national championship in 2015 and has a World Championship in men's freestyle to his name. He has been an assistant coach for Ohio State since 2021.J.R. Johnson, the Meritorious Official honoree, has officiated at every level in the United States and has been a mentor to younger officials. His dedication to the sport extends beyond the mat, as he also assists with weigh-ins, pairings, and scheduling at tournaments at every level. Johnson's extensive experience, with over 20 NCAA championships, and commitment, make him one of the most respected officials in the wrestling community. He's also a Virginia native, so 2 Up, 2 down. Darryl Miller, the Order of Merit recipient, has been a medical volunteer for USA Wrestling since 1993 and has served at multiple World Championships and Olympic Games. His expertise extends to educational presentations on emergency procedures, skin lesions, and CPR and First Aid for coaches at USA Wrestling clinics. Miller's contributions have been instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of athletes at both national and international events.Jonathan Koch, the Medal of Courage recipient, is a living testament to the resilience and fighting spirit that wrestling instills in its athletes. After surviving septic shock and losing parts of all four limbs, he underwent a revolutionary human hand transplant and defied all odds to not only survive but thrive. Koch's journey serves as an inspiring example of the indomitable human spirit, proving that with resilience and determination, one can overcome even the most daunting challenges.Retired United States Army Infantry Colonel Steve Banach, the Outstanding American honoree, served with distinction in the United States Army from 1983 to 2010. His leadership skills, honed on the wrestling mat, were evident in his military service, including deployments to six combat zones and a distinguished career in special operations. Dr. Steiber turns to the written record to re-examine the building blocks of Haitian history. Picking up where most historians conclude, listen as Dr. Chelsea Stieber explores the critical internal challenge to Haiti's post-independence sovereignty: a civil war between monarchy and republic. What transpired was a war of swords and of pens, waged in newspapers and periodicals, in literature, broadsheets, and fliers. In her analysis of Haitian writing that followed independence, Dr. Stieber composes a new literary history of Haiti, one I'm certain challenges our interpretations of both freedom struggles and the postcolonial. She also examines internal dissent during the revolution, Stieber reveals that the very concept of freedom was itself hotly contested in the public sphere, and it was this inherent tension that became the central battleground for the guerre de plume―the paper war―that vied to shape public sentiment and the very idea of Haiti. Stieber's reading of post-independence Haitian writing reveals key insights into the nature of literature, its relation to freedom and politics, and how fraught and politically loaded the concepts of “literature” and “civilization” really are. The competing ideas of liberté, writing, and civilization at work within postcolonial Haiti have consequences for the way we think about Haiti's role―as an idea and a discursive interlocutor―in the elaboration of black radicalism and black Atlantic, anticolonial, and decolonial thought. In so doing, Stieber reorders our previously homogeneous view of Haiti, teasing out warring conceptions of the new nation that continued to play out deep into the twentieth century. Der Landesmusikrat Rheinland-Pfalz hat gleich nach der Flut eine zentrale Stelle für Hilferufe eingerichtet und mithilfe von Benefizkonzerten die groß angelegte Spendenaktion „Musik hilft Musik“ organisiert. Peter Stieber, Präsident des Landesmusikrats Rheinland-Pfalz, erzählt im Gespräch mit SWR2 über die Initiative und die Motivation, die Menschen im Ahrtal wieder zum Singen und Musizieren zu bringen. Doch eines steht fest, wie Stieber sagt: „Da haben wir noch eine weite Wegstrecke vor uns.“

The Haitian Revolution was one of the most important forces in changing the trajectory of the West in the 19th Century. The former slaves defeated three of the mightiest European powers to achieve their freedom and liberation. The question that is rarely asked is, what was the philosophical foundation of their governing structure after independence? Was Haiti trying to be an example of "Black Atlantic Humanism" in the form of Western Enlightenment Societies? Or was Haiti setting a different path in order to illustrate a rejection of the Western values to highlight their sheer racial hypocrisy? Also, was there a true consensus in Haiti after independence on these issues? Ein langersehnter Gast ist heute im Podcast Yoga als Beruf: Franzi Stieber, Steuer-und Unternehmensberaterin und bereits bekannt für ihren Instagram Account “Finanzen mit Franzi”. Franzi hilft Frauen, Selbstständigen und Angestellten, sich mit Aktien, Vermögen und Finanzen auseinanderzusetzen und finanziell zu entfalten. Dabei ist ihr wichtig, dass das Thema Finanzen ihren Kundinnen so leicht wie möglich gemacht wird und die Hemmungen zum Thema Geld/Vermögen schnell überwunden werden. Als Selbstständige sollte mich sich zunächst mit privaten Finanzen und Business Finanzen auseinandersetzen und folgende Schritte beachten: 1. Schritt: Eine ordentliche Budget Planung aufstellen. Wieviel hab ich, wieviel brauche ich? Urlaub einplanen/Freizeit/Sommerloch: Wieviel Umsatz muss ich jährlich machen? 2. Schritt: Darauf basierend, ein richtig sauberes Kontomodell aufstellen. Man hat oft wenig Lust Buchhaltung zu machen, deshalb muss man Prozesse automatisieren: Dadurch läuft es wie von selbst im Hintergrund. z.B. immer möglichst Daueraufträge laufen lassen und Cashflow Planung machen. 3. Schritt: Sich selbst Gehälter bezahlen, selbst wenn ein Loch entsteht. Also immer Geld beiseite legen, damit man sich selbst bezahlen kann 4. Schritte: Altersvorsorge: Beträge dafür über monatlichen Sparplan machen und dieses genauso langfristig machen. Der Yoga- und Meditationslehrer Marc Stieber erzählt, wie er sich durch Atemübungen, Meditation und Yoga von einer schweren Asthma-Erkrankung geheilt hat. Marc nahm jeden Tag das Kortison-Spray, jetzt braucht er es nicht mehr. Hier erzählt er die ganze Geschichte seiner Heilung und stellt die wirksamsten Übungen vor. Bitte mit Betroffenen teilen! Asthma ist eine weltweite Herausforderung. Nach den Zahlen der WHO leiden 340 Millionen Menschen darunter. In den hoch entwickelten Industrieländern sind durchschnittlich 10 bis 15% der Kinder bzw. 8% der Erwachsenen betroffen. Jeder Zehnte hat Asthma in unserem Land, das macht acht Millionen Menschen. Und es werden stetig mehr: Allein in den letzen acht Jahren nahm die Zahl der Asthmatiker in Deutschland um 35% zu. Unter den Erwachsenen sind Frauen häufiger betroffen als Männer, bei Kindern dagegen entwickeln es eher Jungen als Mädchen. Asthma ist einer der häufigsten Gründe, warum Kinder sich vom Schulunterricht befreien lassen müssen. In 70% der Fälle treten die ersten Symptome auf, noch bevor die Kinder vier Jahre alt sind. Zum Glück entwachsen etliche von ihnen ihrer Erkrankung wieder, das erklärt die bei Erwachsenen niedrigere Asthma-Prävalenz gegenüber Kindern, doch ändert es nichts daran, dass Asthma laut Global Asthma Report eine der häufigsten Erkrankungen auf der Welt ist. What transpired was a war of swords and of pens, waged in newspapers and periodicals, in literature, broadsheets, and fliers.  In Haiti's Paper War: Post-Independence Writing, Civil War, and the Making of the Republic, 1804-1954 (NYU Press, 2020) — her analysis of Haitian writing that followed independence — Stieber composes a new literary history of Haiti, that challenges our interpretations of both freedom struggles and the postcolonial. By examining internal dissent during the revolution, Stieber reveals that the very concept of freedom was itself hotly contested in the public sphere, and it was this inherent tension that became the central battleground for the guerre de plume — the paper war — that vied to shape public sentiment and the very idea of Haiti. Sarah Stieber says she's a color-obsessed painter with healthy self esteem and terrible sense of direction. She's wanted to become an artist for as long as she can remember and has been striving and thriving in pursuit of her passion for the past decade. She spent the summer after Junior year in High School studying figure drawing in Italy and her teacher encouraged her to pursue art in college. She majored in painting at Boston University and had the opportunity to return to Italy to study abroad. In her Venice art studio she shined colored lights on her model and created her first “Electric Realism” painting, a style that has informed her work ever since. In Boston and Italy her peers and teachers always said that her paintings screamed “California!”, so upon graduation she returned home to San Diego to pursue art in the place that inspired her early work. Now she create celebratory paintings out of her San Diego art studio exploring themes of social justice, resilience, and joy. Every painting has a story, and she likes to produce films and curate exhibitions and installations (mostly covered in rainbows) to spark dialogue and offer more insight into her work. Her paintings have been showcased at the Oceanside Museum of art, the Wausau Museum of Art, and in art galleries from London to Australia. She was a featured artist At Spectrum Miami and was named by CBS On Mogul as one of “15 Female Artists You Need to Know from Miami Art Week”. And over the past few summers she has hosted “Stieber Summer Gallery”, an interactive pop up art gallery in San Diego. In this episode, we discuss...
