She currently holds the title of Distinguished Consultant Emeritus from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Paris has consulted in the United States and internationally in Canada, Cyprus, France,Guam, Switzerland, Virgin Islands, and the UK Kathleen lost her beloved husband Matt Cullen, of twenty-five years in 2018. She has been reaching out ever since to other grieving women. The dedication of her book reads “To my husband, Matt Cullen the best person I ever knew.”One of the frequently asked questions of Kathleen, is why did you write Gentle Comforts?Kathleen's response is that she started journaling the day her husband died and from then on wrote to him every night. The journal was the foundation of Gentle Comforts. And as the months went on, it occurred to Kathleen that she could take the worst thing that ever happened to her and help others in the same situation.Gentle Comforts for Women Grieving the Loss of a Beloved Life Companion was published by ACTA Publications in 2024. The book is organized to follow a woman-in-mourning's experiences over time. There is journaling space with short prompt questions for each reflection. There are easy healthy recipes for one person included for each of the 50 topics. The book is written in a gentle and encouraging voice of one who has been there. So many of us have lost someone in our lives, and the hope was that this show could touch you in some way, ease your burden, and for you to know that there are so many of us struggling with our losses. Here is the Irish quote from the front of Kathleen's book: “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”A note from Kathleen Paris:Friday, August 30 is National Grief Awareness Day. Every year it is on August 30.Aimed at educating people about grief, providing resources and helping people feel less alone.

Hey Sister-Friend, Dealing with grief is tough. It takes so much energy to function with a heavy heart. Sometimes it is easier to keep busy and stay distracted. That may be helpful in the early stages  of grief and useful as a way to function day-to-day, but the weight of the pain does not go away, and to begin experiencing healing, that grief must be named, addressed, and released.   This year, National Grief Awareness Day is on August 30th this year, and while we know grief is not confined to a day, on this day, people across the world are engaged in conversations about grief while creating space for those who are hurting and need to be heard.   In today's episode, I will share some ways you can start sharing your grief and holding space for others who are also hurting. This supportive exchange can help you process what hurts you and make room for healing and joy.   The activities I mention include connecting and sharing your pain with God with examples from Psalms of lament, inviting a trusted friend to share with or for my introverted sisters, and personal self-care activities that would aid reflection and grief processing. You will find this episode helpful if you struggle with hurts that are often too painful to talk about. You will walk away with different activities you can engage in to take one step closer to processing your pain. I also provide an opportunity to connect with me and other women who are processing their grief so you do not feel alone in your experience. On this episode of The Power of Love Show we welcome special guest, Angie Cartwright. Angie has experienced the pain of profound loss many times in her life starting with the loss of her baby sister when Angie was just a small child followed by the loss of her newlywed husband from a tragic car accident at the age of 21, and finally the devastating loss of her mother from an accidental overdose in 2010. Following these deeply personal experiences of loss, Angie found herself paralyzed with grief. Learning the hard way that grievers are often misunderstood, Angie decided to channel her grief into action and is now dedicated to raising awareness about bereavement and helping those experiencing grief to heal. Angie is committed to help change how our culture understands and views grief. Through a change.org petition asking President Biden to recognize August 30 as National Grief Awareness Day, Angie is doing her part to help end the stigma surrounding grief and help thousands of grievers find solid footing once again. By reaching out to thousands of grievers on social media for the past 20 years, she has found that healing can only take place when grief is not shamed, rushed or tabooed. This is how she herself found her own healing.  Learn More About Angie: Instagram: @TheNationalGriefAwarenessDay Facebook: National Grief Awareness Day LinkedIn: Angie Cartwright Twitter: @NGADgrief Learn More About DDJF: Website: DDJF.org Instagram: @DeeDeeJacksonFoundation Facebook: Dee Dee Jackson Foundation LinkedIn: Dee Dee Jackson Foundation Twitter: @DDJFoundation Leave a podcast review: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-power-of-love-show/id1282931846 Spotify Podcasts: https://open.spotify.com/show/6X6zGAPmdReRrlLO0NW4n6?si=koXehESfSrSwA-zWi2vf-w Did you know that you can support DDJF while you shop on Amazon at no cost to you? These conditions can be activated by circumstances in your present life, your ancestry, conception, womb, birth trauma, childhood, or adult life. It builds on existing work from many famous authors, making it much more practical, more specific, detailed, and ultimately much more effective! This book is equally valuable for experienced alternative practitioners and those interested in self-healing. Throughout December, Gurls Talk Grief, and I have one of the most accomplished panels of experts to help us unpack this devastating and taboo subject. @ProfessorGreen uses his experience with his father's suicide to show us how we should be celebrating the lives of those lost. Julia Samuel MBE tells me about her pillars of strength and how kickboxing is her secret weapon for coping with grief. And Amy Green explains why the bereavement charity, Cruse, is so valuable for those dealing with the loss of a loved one, however long ago it was. If you're dealing with grief then there are many charities and organisations that can offer crucial support. Visit www.cruse.org.uk for one-on-one help and advice.
