Jesus' Not-So-Triumphal Entry Zechariah 9:9 (NIV)Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the warhorses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the Great River to the ends of the earth. Jesus had spoken about His coming death on more than one occasion.Mark 8:31–32 (NLT)“Then Jesus began to tell them that the Son of Man must suffer many terrible things and be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but three days later, He would rise from the dead. As He talked about this openly with His disciples, Peter took him aside and began to reprimand Him for saying such things.” Mark 9:31 (NLT)“For He wanted to spend more time with His disciples and teach them. He said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later, He will rise from the dead.'” Mark 10:32–34 (NLT)“Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus once more began to describe everything that was about to happen to Him. ‘Listen,' He said, ‘We're going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence Him to die and hand Him over to the Romans. They will mock Him, spit on Him, flog Him with a whip, and kill Him, but after three days he will rise again.'” The disciples, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus with their request.Mark 10:35-45 (NLT)“'Teacher, they said, ‘We want you to do us a favor.' ‘What is your request?' He asked. They replied, ‘When you sit on your glorious throne, we want to sit in places of honor next to you, one on your right and the other on your left.'… When the ten other disciples heard what James and John had asked, they were indignant. So, Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you, it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.'” Jesus knew His purpose… And He knew His timing. 2 Kings 9:13 (NLT)“They quickly took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!” Will we allow His rule of grace, peace, and reconciliation in our lives?Luke 19:41-42 (NLT)“But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. ‘How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes.'” True Shalom Peace, Godly wholeness peace, will not just come in a change of circumstances…A New Political ClimateA New Marriage PartnerA Man Cave Away from TensionA New Set of ClothesA New HaircutA New BodyA New ChurchA New JobA New House If you want to know peace, you must come to a place of surrender to Jesus.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Additional Scriptures mentioned in this podcast are: John 17:20-21, NLT (Part of Jesus' final prayer to the Father on our behalf.) I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. 1 Timothy 2:1-4, NET First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people, even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior, since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: Some people refer to ingratitude as a disease. This gives a false impression. Marketing encourages dissatisfaction with what we have. Political parties encourage us to feel as if we aren't getting our fair share. We are a nation drenched in entitlement and deficient in gratitude for what we do have. Many of us live as if we don't have enough. This attitude leaves us feeling left out. According to my guest today, an attitude of gratefulness changes our perspective. The more we focus on ourselves, the less we develop an attitude of appreciation for what we do have. Today we're going to be talking about how to be grateful. Quotables from the episode: I discovered the life-changing power of saying ‘thank you' to God no matter what the circumstance? Gratitude changes everything even when it seems nothing is changing. We change most through suffering. As we grow in our knowledge of who God is through his Word, we grow more confident of his faithfulness and promises to provide for our every need. As I rest in God's perfect provision for myself, I am then able to go out and meet your needs in a more robust and faith-driven way because I can “forget” about myself and seek to minister to you and others. What I learned about myself was I needed to keep my focus on Him…not on the news, not overly focused on politics, not on trying to control outcomes…but focus on Jesus…one day at a time. And I learned personally that the more I gave thanks…the more emotionally level I became. Trusting God! Choosing Gratitude! It's making an impact on how we think and live. He is working to redeem and restore our losses by transforming us into the image of Christ. Determine to make time alone with the Lord a top priority because each of needs to have our thoughts renewed daily and in this fallen world that is becoming increasingly evil…we need it all the more. God's Word is the powerful change agent that changes each of us from the inside out. Scripture References: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 15: 57 NIV But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Colossians 3: 15 NIV Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. MAKING ROOM #3 | Expectations vs. Reality | December 18, 2022Logan Holloman | NextGen Pastor “In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” Luke 2:1-7 (NRSV) Reject the facade of a “perfect” Christmas. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:3-5a (NIV) Rejoice knowing His will is being done Reflection Questions:1) How has the reality that God took on human flesh and lived among us changed your life? 2) How are your relationships in this season? By remembering what is true, we hold onto the Promise that everlasting joy is our inheritance. As we step into Easter, Stasi reminds us that even in the midst of overwhelming heartbreak, Jesus is victorious, and in that, our hope rests. Friends, sorrow, pain, and loss do not have the final word nor does it define us. We will overcome because Jesus has overcome.SHOW NOTES:Verses: Hebrews 10:23 (NIV) — Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ___________________ is a quick path to joy. If we fail to choose gratitude we default to ___________________. Gratitude is recognizing that life owes me _______________ and every good thing I have is a _______________. [Luke 17:16-19] He fell to the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. [17] Jesus asked, "Didn't I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? [18] Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" [19] And Jesus said to the man, "Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you." Thanksgiving attracts God's ___________________. [Psalm 103:1-5] A psalm of David. Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. [2] Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. [3] He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. [4] He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. [5] He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's! It takes ___________________ to be thankful. [2 Corinthians 12:7-10] So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. [8] Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. [9] Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. [10] That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. We can be thankful for our ___________________ because God is working through them. [1 Thessalonians 5:16-18] Always be joyful. [17] Never stop praying. [18] Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” Romans 12:15 (NIV)“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” 1 Corinthians 12:26 (NLT)“If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.” 2. Small groups allow for care to be given and to be received. Acts 2:45 (NIV)“…They shared with anyone who was in need.” 3. Small groups help you become more mature in your faith. 1 Peter 2:2 (NASB)“Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.” 1 Corinthians 3:2-3 (NLT)“I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren't ready for anything stronger. And you still aren't ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn't that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren't you living like people of the world?” 4. Small group is a place you find allies. Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)“…Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”
‘No matter what’ I choose Jesus. (This must become a daily Faith confession) It is a glorious thing to know that your Father God makes no mistakes in directing or permitting that which crosses the path of your life. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter. It is our glory to trust Him, ‘No matter what’. By Pastor George Lehman I trust you will receive something from this sermon to carry you through every day of your life. What do you choose when you choose Jesus? Real life, eternal life; Victory; Peace; Joy; Abundance; Security; no fear; strength to endure; a sound mind; self-control; someone who really cares; someone who has overcome the world; someone who will never leave nor forsake you. And the list goes on! Story of the man in the desert: There was a man who got lost in the desert. After wandering around for a long time his throat became very dry, about that time he saw a little shack in the distance. He made his way over to the shack and found a water pump with a small jug of water and a note. The note read: "pour all the water into the top of the pump to prime it, if you do this you will get all the water you need". Now the man had a choice to make, if he trusted the note and poured the water in and it worked, he would have all the water he needed. If it didn’t work, he would still be thirsty, and he might die. Or he could choose to drink the water in the jug and get immediate satisfaction, but it might not be enough, and he still might die. After thinking about it the man decided to risk it. He poured the entire jug into the pump and began to work the handle, at first nothing happened, and he got a little scared, but he kept going and water started coming out. So much water came out he drank all he wanted, took a shower, and filled all the containers he could find. Because he was willing to give up momentary satisfaction, he got all the water he needed. Now the note also said: after you have finished, please refill the jug for the next traveler.” The man refilled the jug and added to the note: “Please prime the pump, believe me it works”! Philippians 3:1-3 (NIV) - Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh. For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— Paul continues to remind us in Philippians. Philippians 1:17-18 (NIV) - The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, Philippians 4:4-6 (NIV) - Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. The word ‘rejoice’ is in the present tense and suggests a continual rejoicing. Rejoice means: To fill with joy. Philippians 3:1 (NIV) - Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. Paul is reminding the church ‘no matter what’ the tragedy or hardship, If you know the Lord, you have reason to rejoice. Notice the expressions of rejoice: Deuteronomy 12:7 (NIV) - There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you. In this verse the word rejoice in Hebrew [Shamach] means to fill with joy. This is an inner condition of the heart. Deuteronomy 32:43 (NIV) - Rejoice, O nations, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants; he will take vengeance on his enemies and make atonement for his land and people. In this verse the word rejoice in Hebrew [Ranan] is an outer expression – shouting, singing, showing your joy. You may not always be jumping and pumping with Ranan (shouting and singing) but ’No matter what’ you must always be filled with [Shamach] – inner joy. That joy of the Lord which is your strength. Galatians 5:22 says that the fruit of the inner working spirit is joy. Paul’s point in this scripture is ‘No matter what’… Tragedy might befall you. You may have health issues. Your partner may have left you; your children disappoint you. You may have messed up or sinned. You may have been hurt, criticized, and insulted. ‘No matter what’ Your choice is: Rejoice [Shamach] There are so many ‘no matter what’ examples in the Bible. Job 1:20-22 (NIV) - At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. Habakkuk 3:17-19 (Amp) - 17Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, 18Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! 19The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! For the Chief Musician; with my stringed instruments. We need to learn that God is in full control. You can put your complete trust in Him ‘No matter what’. Acts 16:23-26 (NIV) - 23After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose ‘No matter what, I choose Jesus.’ *****
Mark 11:1-11 (NIV) “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Today's passage brings us to a scene that might be familiar to you. But the backstory might be less familiar. Jesus comes into Jerusalem riding a young donkey. Everyone is singing “Hosanna.” If you've been in church much, you know this as “Palm Sunday.” But why the donkey? Why the procession at all? Jesus is embodying a picture of Israel's king from the book of Zechariah. And in so doing, he is making the boldest statement yet about what his kingdom looks like. The prophecy in Zechariah describes the entrance of a king—righteous, victorious, but humble. He is not on a war horse. He holds no battle bow. In fact, in this picture, the instruments of war are undone, and peace is proclaimed to all nations. Can you see it? As you listen to the passage read aloud, try to place yourself in the scene. This is the entrance of the Messiah everyone's been waiting for. What are your thoughts, feelings, questions, as you witness what's happening here? ----------REFLECT---------- 1. What details caught your attention in this passage? 2. Popular expectations of messiah included some kind of overthrow of the powers of the oppressive roman state. How does the image of Jesus riding a peace donkey square with these expectations? If you had expected a war horse, how might you respond? 3. Zechariah's picture of the King is one who brings the Shalom the world has been waiting for - peace and restoration, the laying down of weapons in the pursuit of wholeness and justice. In what ways do you long for that Shalom? Or in what areas might the Holy Spirit be asking you to lay down your weapons and walk with this humble King? ----------GO DEEPER---------- Bible Project: Mark Overview >> Bible Project: The Gospel >> Bible Project: Gospel of the Kingdom >> ----------CONNECT---------- Find an InterVarsity Chapter >> Start an InterVarsity Chapter >> Learn More >> --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dailyread/message

Discipleship series #8 A disciple lives actively and effectively in the moment. By Pastor George Lehman Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift – that’s why it’s called the present. Paul said: Philippians 3:1 (Amp) – For the rest, my brethren, delight yourselves in the Lord and continue to rejoice that you are in Him. To keep writing to you [over and over] of the same things is not irksome to me, and it is [a precaution] for your safety. Psalm 118:24 (NIV) - This IS the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Note: It does NOT say this WAS or WILL be the day, when? In this day. Not future tense or past tense but present tense. How we frequently miss out on the blessing in the NOW! How can we actually be content in this moment when we are actually somewhere else? Let’s be honest, most times our lives are so absorbed in our worries, fears, hopes and expectations that we miss out on the only life we really have, the one happening right here, right now! These are not some idle words from Jesus Matthew 6:27 (LB) - Will all your worries add a single moment to your life? (It will possibly shorten your life.) Isn’t this true - that we often so consumed with trying to make our futures better that we don’t appreciate what God is trying to do in our “NOW”. We need to stop waiting for perfect conditions to be fully engaged in our lives. Philippians 3:16 (LB) - Only let us live up to what we have already attained. Live in the ‘now’ you and I have more than what you need to live successfully, victoriously, courageously and confidently “Today”. Jesus said it: Matthew 6:34 (LB) - So don’t be anxious about tomorrow, God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time. Just observe what happens when you’re totally engrossed or consumed by anything – a hobby or watching a gripping movie. For that time and space for 2 hours, all your problems disappear? Time flies, worries, regrets, and anger vanishes. The tension of the day melts away. How does this happen? It’s not magic. It’s because you’re focused on something other than your problems. The moment you leave the movies or whatever consumed your ‘now time’ – you think or say… “Now I’m back in the REAL world”. The so called ‘real world’ is actually waiting for you to carry that peace right into it. God actually meant us to live this way. The word describes God as ‘omnipresent’. Not omni-past or omni-future. He is present HERE and NOW! For so many people their relationship with God is consumed with – - what they don’t have, - what they haven’t ‘done right’ - how they failed or messed up. 4 Simple steps if applied will help you live a blessed life in the now – in the moment: As an unsaved, non-Christian you just lived like you wanted to. But now that you are a disciple of Jesus, God’s intention for you is an abundant life. A strong, enduring, victorious life for TODAY! #1 Live on purpose You have to stop drifting in life. James 4:17 (LB) - Knowing what’s right to do and not doing it is sin. 2 John 1:8 (NIV) - Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. When you’re not focused and living ‘on purpose’. - James 1:8 (Amp) - [For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious {doubtful}, irresolute{not determined / shrinking back}), (He is) unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything (he thinks, feels, decides). Do everything it takes to live your spiritual life out “on purpose”. If you’re not living ‘on purpose’ you won’t experience the breakthrough promises. You’ll keep focusing on yesterday and hoping for a better tomorrow you’ll MISS OUT on the peace, joy and victory of TODAY! #2 Maximise today. It’s God’s job to make the day but it’s OUR job to make the most of it. You see, joy is a decision. You make the choice to rejoice. Philippians 4:4 (NIV) – “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Tomorrow is ashes, yesterday is wood. Only today does the fire burn brightly. Eskimo proverb “Joy is like fuel.” You don’t wait to refuel only when you feel like it. #3 Trust. Trust that God will provide and that you have the power, ability and resources within to find contentment and peace – not tomorrow but each moment of TODAY! You can’t trust someone who doesn’t keep their word. To trust someone, they must have a track record of integrity. Psalm 62:8 (Msg) - So trust Him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for Him. God is a safe place to be. Consider this track record: There are more than 1000 predictions or prophecies in the bible. Promises that God made before they happened. The chances of 17 of them coming to pass is 1 out of 450 billion x 1 billion x 1 trillion. Yet, not one of these 1000 promises have failed. In fact to this day 668 have already been fulfilled. You can relax and trust God. He won’t let you down! #4 Be grateful and celebrate. 1 Corinthians 8:3 (Amp) - But if one loves God truly (with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience and GRATEFUL recognition of His blessing), he is known by God (recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love and he is owned by Him). When we live with an attitude of gratitude we live in the moment and find we will experience contentment. A thankless attitude traps you in the past or the future. It causes you to ignore the gifts and blessings that are present in your lives now! Many times it’s when we lose something or things go wrong – like our health, lose a job, then we appreciate and are grateful for our abundant past we had. Hebrews 3:15 (NIV) – “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Disciple of God learn to thank and praise God: - Live on purpose - Maximise everyday - Trust God - Be grateful and celebrate. What has God already done in your life? Everything you are blessed with – a family, a home, a job, food and health. Doing this, before you know it, midnight will pass and morning will come. Living in the moment you can flow through life rather than struggle through it. Jesus died to make it possible! Poem with “TODAY”: Today is the most important day of my life. Yesterday with its successes and victories, struggles and failures is gone forever. The past is past. Done. Finished. I cannot relive it. I cannot go back and change it. But I will learn from it and improve my today. Today. This moment. NOW. It is God’s gift to me and it is all that I have. Tomorrow with all its joys and sorrows, triumphs and troubles isn’t here yet. Indeed, tomorrow may never come. Therefore, I will not worry about tomorrow. Today is what God has entrusted to me. It is all that I have. I will do my best in it. I will demonstrate the best of me in it - my character, giftedness and abilities. To my family and friends, clients and associates - I will identify those things that are most important to do today. And those things I will do until they are done. And when this day is done, I will look back with satisfaction at that which I have accomplished. Then, and only then, Will I plan my tomorrow. Looking to improve upon today, with God’s help. Then I shall go to sleep in peace… content.
Season 3, Episode 1: How God Healed Me from the Grief of my Miscarriage in 3 DaysWelcome to Season 3 of the Amanda Ferguson Show. Thank you to all of my followers following me from Season 1 and welcome to all of our new listeners! Please tag me and let me know how the podcast is touching you. Then listen next week in episode 2 for my special listener shout outs!I like to start every new season sharing a vulnerable experience that I've had. People may look at my life and think everything is perfect. I'm here to tell you that no one's life is perfect. By sharing some of these experiences, I can offer you something other than how to simply deal with pain but how to overcome that pain and actually heal from it.After months of planning and preparations for our final baby, we were beyond excited when we found out we were pregnant. A few weeks into my pregnancy I began to feel like something was wrong. My husband and I have three children already, so I know when I'm pregnant and I know how it should feel. When things started to feel differently, I began to worry. Within 24 hours, we had lost our baby. The pain of losing this beautiful life was overwhelming. The guilt and the shock were just too much to bear. I was devastated. Fortunately for us, we are surrounded by a close group of people that we consider our Tribe. These are the ones that we hold close and respect. Sharing our grief with them was the beginning of our supernatural healing, in just 3 days. Here are the 4 ways that God healed me from this overwhelming sadness in just 3 days! [7:31] You have to let people in. Our Tribe was overwhelmed with sadness with us. There is power in allowing people into your life. They were with us through the pain and the tears.[9:17] Let God comfort you. Don't let your anger towards God keep you from Him comforting you. The Lord is your Father and wants to take care of you. He is the perfect Father. He's just waiting for you to come to Him. Let Him.[11:59] Special prayer to know God as your Father. You know Him as a Savior, let Him love you as your Father.[13:26] Give Him your pain. Being a Christian doesn't automatically keep you from trials. You are not expected to carry all of your pain alone. Ask the Lord to take the pain away and give it to Him. Joy will follow.[17:14] Nothing in life is wasted. God uses every single thing for His Glory! No pain, no miscarriage, no abortion is ever considered waste! Please know, you do not have to lose a part of yourself because of the pain and the trails you go through. The Lord will fully restore you when you let Him have your pain and you let Him into your life! As we approach this season of anticipation and awaiting the arrival of Christ, we are called to find peace in this season. Peace with those around us and being at peace with God in our minds and prayers. Pastor Bill Clark shares with us what the Bible tells us about peace and how that can have an impact on our daily interactions. On Peace Advent 2017 | Week 1 December 3, 2017 | Bill Clark John 14:27 (NIV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Peace is safety for ourselves and those we love. Peace, for us, is uninterrupted security, to be protected from outside threats. ~ Doug Stevens The rock solid certainty that we are GREATLY VALUED and DEEPLY LOVED. Isaiah 9:2,6-7 (NIV) The people walking in darkness have seen a great light, on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned…For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his peaceful reign there will be no end. He will rule on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord almighty will accomplish this. Luke 2:10-11,14 (NIV) Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord…Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. John 20:19 (NIV) Peace be with you. Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV) Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Like Jesus, empty yourself of the desire to WIN THE ARGUMENT. As you confront the brokenness of another person, be prepared to admit YOUR OWN BROKENNESS. Invest yourself in the lives of HURTING PEOPLE. Pray for Christ to be a PART OF THE CONVERSATION.
