Code reviews are one of the most powerful tools teams have for maintaining quality — but they're also one of the most emotionally charged parts of the development process. With AI coding agents generating more code than ever, the review bottleneck is growing fast. But what if AI-assisted reviews could not only keep up with the volume, but actually be kinder about it? Scott talks with Nnenna Ndukwe, Developer Relations Lead at Qodo, about how AI code review is evolving beyond glorified linting into something that understands context, catches what matters, and delivers feedback developers actually want to read. They explore what happens when the same AI writes and reviews its own code, and whether thoughtful AI review can make code review culture healthier for everyone...not just faster.https://www.qodo.ai/

“[Grief] breaks us open, which we may not expect. There's some allowing that has to happen. I'm going to allow this to break me open, to grow a new heart, to connect with people in a more meaningful way, to live a life that's more authentic. I think the breaking open, while it can be hard and scary, speaks to grief as a generative force and the ways it can deepen and enrich your life.” - Naila Francis In this week's episode, our season finale, we reflect on our conversation with Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon. We look at a moment that landed very differently for each of us during that conversation, sharing our takes on why we thought her candid retelling of her husband's final days should and shouldn't have been cut. We have fun recalling some of the signs our dads send us to let us know they're near, including the songs that bring them closer to us — don't worry, we spare you the actual singing of them. And appreciating Nnenna's affirmation of each griever's unique experience, no matter her own wisdom from walking the path, we talk about what was most helpful to us in the immediate aftermath of our losses. We also unwrap what her phrase “Anger doesn't store well” means to both of us and the place anger has in the spectrum of grief. She is also the host of the globally celebrated podcast, Counter Culture. In today's episode Jas and I explore human design and how it relates to food and digestion. Jas explains that human design is the study of our unique selves. She believes that through understanding how our bodies and minds best function, we can gain more authority and sovereignty over our lives. Jas discusses the determination/digestion variable in human design, which refers to the ways in which we best take in, process and absorb not only food, but also information and energy. She explains how when we feed ourselves—physically, emotionally and spiritually—in a way that best supports our design, we can better access our full potential. This conversation is so expanding, whether you're familiar with human design or not.  You'll leave with a new perspective on how we are all so unique, and how we can gain more authority over our lives by better understanding (and honoring) our unique selves.*Mind, Body, Spirit, FOOD newsletter: https://mindbodyspiritfood.substack.com/human-design-food-and-digestion*Find Nicki on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nickisizemore/* Find Jas on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/erahsociety/ , https://www.instagram.com/jasnnenna/* Erah Society Newsletter: https://erahsociety.substack.com/* Discover your own human design with a Soul Map: https://erahsociety.com/soulmap* German New Medicine: https://learninggnm.com/* Counter Culture podcast: https://www.jasmoon.space/podcast* Vaness Henry (Human Design): https://www.instagram.com/vanesshenry/ Get full access to Mind, Body, Spirit, FOOD at mindbodyspiritfood.substack.com/subscribe

INnenna Onuoha speaks with Alain Gomis about his latest film REWIND & PLAY (2022), which she encountered last month at the New York Film Festival. REWIND & PLAY follows American jazz pianist Thelonius Monk on a 1969 trip to Paris. Monk is in town to perform at the Salle Pleyel, and along the way becomes the subject of a French television program. Rewind & Play unfolds exclusively from the recovered rushes of this recording. And from this single event the film unravels complex subjects including the media's objectification of Monk's celebrity, and its simultaneous refusal to recognize his full humanity.Throughout the interview, we witness painfully, how Monk's responses, unsatisfactory to his interviewers, are dismissed, spoken over, and edited out. Yet, with a masterful delicacy, the film inter-cuts shots of him playing the piano, allowing his music to assert itself and interrupt the unbearable media machine that has attempted to enfold him. In the conversation, Nnenna speaks with Alain Gomis about his interest in Thelonius Monk, and how he handled the challenges of representation in the making of this film. The conversation wraps up with some practical advice about how to honor one's creative vision as a filmmaker, in what can sometimes be a very demanding industry. We hope you enjoy the conversation. For show notes visit docsinorbit.com and be sure to follow us on social media @docsinorbit for updates.

The time is now for spaces that advocate, cultivate, and share our health and wellness stories of black women globally. And my guest for this episode has enriched this space with powerful dialogue and stories that leave a lasting impression and inspire women to champion and prioritize their own health and wellbeing. In this episode of The Sub-Saharan Beauty podcast, I'm joined by Nnenna Kalu Makanjuola, the founder and editor-in-chief of Radiant Health Magazine, a bi-annual print and digital magazine for black women. Their mission is to tell our own health stories and inspire Black women to live their healthiest, happiest, and most meaningful life. Nnenna's passion and commitment to health and wellness advocacy began at an early age following her first-hand witness of her father's journey with heart disease resulting in the need for a heart transplant. This experience would later inform her career journey as a pharmacist and public health professional. In our conversation, we talk about the pivotal moment when she decides to launch the Radiant Health Magazine (RHM) without any prior publication experience and her entrepreneurial journey/evolution with RHM. From its inception to today, RHM has shifted from a more niche Nigerian audience to a global audience inspiring and championing Black women everywhere. While previous additions Nnenna uncovers some of the intentional decisions she has made with the publication, including the choice to use everyday women as the cover story vs the traditional celebrity covers. She shares why this was her way of keeping the authentic voice of the publication and also a means to ensure that black women are represented authentically. Episode Timeline: • [3:29] Nnenna describes her personal and professional background with health and how they influenced the birth of RHM. • [12:28] The entrepreneurial journey to starting Radiant Health Magazine and the learning curve for launching a digital and print publication. • [15:39] How the magazine shifted from a more niche Nigerian audience to a global audience inspiring and championing Black women everywhere • [21:29] The importance of representation and advocacy of black women in the health and wellness space • [26:00] The stories behind Nnenna's favorite issues including her father's prolonged heart condition story. • [30:40] Affirming positive health and wellness practices as black women. • [34:11] Why she's focusing on fulfilling what the radiant needs to live a life of health and wellness. • [46:59] The present and future of Radiant Magazine ***THE EPISODE WAS RECORDED EARLY THIS YEAR, PRIOR TO THE RELEASE OF THE LATEST PUBLICATION: THE SELF-CARE ISSUE.
