POPULARITY
Reza Aslan is a religious scholar and the author of several books including the #1 New York Times Best Seller "Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth," "No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam," and now a new book "An American Martyr in Persia: The Epic Life and Tragic Death of Howard Baskerville." Aslan is also a TV and film producer whose projects have included executive producing "Of Kings and Prophets" on ABC and the documentary series "The Secret Life of Muslims." Some Iranian Americans have criticized Aslan and even suggested he is pro-regime when it comes to the fundamentalist regime that rules the nation. Aslan denies the allegation and recently told the Los Angeles Times that he's the target of a disinformation campaign. “The only one who benefits is the regime,” he told the Times. “They have to have the diaspora in disunity and chaos, especially among people with a public voice like mine.”During this podcast, Aslan discusses protests underway in Iran, his hopes for Iran, and the parallels between current events in Iran and the revolution he describes in his new book.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In today's episode, I am joined by Dr. Mark Rutland - A New York Times best-selling author, executive director of the National Institue of Christian Leadership, founder of Global Servants, and former pastor and university president. We talk about the difficulty of balancing God's calling with our current circumstances. We also discuss some of the prophetic themes in Dr. Rutland's newest book, Of Kings and Prophets; how should modern believers use spiritual authority, and what does prophecy look like today? You're not going to want to miss this! This episode is not only for leaders, anyone who wants to understand their role in natural authority and spiritual power. Dr. Mark Rutland discusses his new book "Of Kings and Prophets" with host Dr. Steve Greene. You will learn how a prophet speaks to us from God, but a king has to hear God in it.
Dr. Mark Rutland, international leader and bestselling author, speaks again with Chris Maxwell and Tracy Reynolds in this episode of Next Step Leadership. Mark offers honest and needed thoughts from his years of service through leading. He provides lessons learned from the Old Testament stories included in his newest book “Of Kings and Prophets.” People live today with a fear of serving in leadership, and serving under unhealthy leaders. The call into leadership positions must be seen as a call from God. We should not forget that—especially during these days of division and deception and uncertainty. Since God offers us opportunities to serve, shouldn't we obey? God places us in situations where we feel uncapable of leading well. Mark believes leaders are all called to fulfill their present position while learning everything they can learn about their next position. That perspective and his other honest advice offer help leaders make their next steps their best steps. https://drmarkrutland.com/podcast/https://drmarkrutland.com/blog/https://drmarkrutland.comhttps://thenicl.comhttps://twitter.com/drmarkrutlandhttps://www.facebook.com/globalservants

Every source of light is fading and when people are shrouded in complete darkness - they - come. A group of survivors make a run to the local chemist while trying desperately to stop their torches and candles from fading. Will all of them survive? 54:48 - Of Kings and Fools. A brilliant scientist has invented a new type of submarine capable of plunging incredible depths in the ocean. It could be a game-changer. A man seems to be trapped in an ever-snowing, seemingly deserted town where he is hunted by terrifying creatures. Can Tesha outmaneuver foes from these three different worlds? For Tesha, priestess and queen, happiness is a world she can control, made up of her family and the fractious kingdom she and her husband rule within the Great King’s empire. But now the Great King is dead, and his untried son plots against them. Tesha fights back with forbidden sorcery and savvy. In yet another blow, the griffin king lures Daniti, Tesha’s magical blind sister, into a deadly crisis that Daniti alone can avert. As danger ensnares everyone Tesha loves, her goddess offers a way out. But can Tesha trust this offer of divine assistance or is it a trap—one that would lead to an unstoppable bloodbath? Escape into this award-winning epic fantasy series, inspired by the historical Hittite empire and its most extraordinary queen. About the Author: Judith Starkston has spent too much time exploring the remains of the ancient worlds of the Greeks and Hittites. What do Noel and Kate think of the rise of issues-based comedy? Should characters change over time? Can The 100 win us back, and what exactly happened on Adventure Time? Why isn’t God a character on Of Kings and Prophets, and why do we still belittle women for their hair? Did American Crime stick the landing and does it really matter either way? The CW renews itself - This week the CW announced it was renewing its entire lineup, so we dive into the strange success story of that network, including why a 12th season of “Supernatural” might make sense, and Les Moonves’ answer to Tim about why the lights stayed on. Plus Tim’s review of “Of Kings and Prophets,” the San Francisco Chronicle’s Little Man, Aaron Paul’s return to TV in Hulu’s “The Path”, and more bad news for Will Arnett. Host Tim Goodman and Jason Snell.

In this sermon, we survey 3 chapters, 1 Kings 20-22, taken from the heart of the historical books of the Old Testament and the history of the northern kingdom of Israel. The times were dark as the nation and its leaders turned away from God to follow idols. But God was still there and he was not silent. His voice was still audible through his courageous servants, the prophets. What lessons can we learn from their example? More importantly, what do we learn about God and his character in these chapters? Find out in this message entitled Of Kings and Prophets.
