The weekend delivered absolute chaos across the hockey world, and the fallout is landing right here in Edmonton. Tom Gazzola is joined by YouTube Trev to sort through a massive slate of championship drama, a national team collapse, and an elite prospect storyline that has Oilers fans second-guessing front-office history. Grab a coffee and dial in for the ultimate Monday morning breakdown.   On Today's Show: Weekend Catch-Up: The fellas kick things off by recapping their weekends and reacting to a frantic 48 hours of major sports headlines before diving straight into the deep end of hockey talk. The Stanley Cup Final is Set: It all begins tomorrow night. The Carolina Hurricanes are officially clashing with the Vegas Golden Knights for the right to hoist Lord Stanley's mug. Tom and Trev break down the X-factors, evaluate the depth charts, and drop their official predictions. Will the Canes' relentless system stop the Golden Knights from building a modern dynasty in the desert? Did the Oilers Blunder the Sam O'Reilly Trade? Major conversation brewing in Oil Country. Over the weekend, Sam O'Reilly put on an absolute clinic, leading the Kitchener Rangers to a dominant 6-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips to capture the Memorial Cup. O'Reilly took home the tournament MVP trophy, joining an incredibly elite list of historical superstars to sweep regular season, playoff, and Memorial Cup MVP honours. With O'Reilly looking like an absolute stud, the boys look back at the trade that sent him out of town. Did management make a massive mistake, or is it too early to panic? Team Canada Meltdown at Worlds: A very bitter pill to swallow for Canadian hockey fans. Trev and Tom debate the fallout: is this just a bad weekend bounce, or should Canadians be genuinely concerned about the program's international depth right now?   The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!

That is on producer Reece and will not happen again I apologize for the impact on your listening! It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' coaching situation, Evan Bouchard's injury at Worlds, the Conference Finals, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not the boys have a problem with the Oilers allowing their players to participate in the World Championships, given what happened to Evan Bouchard yesterday against the USA. While it's definitely unfortunate to see that Bouchard got injured, the boys made a good case for why he should have gone to this tournament, given his hopes of playing for the Canadian Olympic team. Shifting gears, the boys looked at the latest news on the Oilers' coaching search, including quotes from Kelly McCrimmon and Bruce Cassidy after they were asked about the situation. Despite Kelly McCrimmon saying the Oilers leaked the story and that they don't want to talk about this any further, Vegas' GM keeps booking himself for radio appearances where he invariably gets asked about it. Needless to say, this situation keeps getting weirder as more details become available. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the conference finals nearly wrapped up, the guys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the Oilers' needs for the off-season, some not, but that's the way things go on the Friday episode of ONR.

The Oil Stream is live right here on Edmonton Sports Talk as the fellas react to a massive wave of executive promotions, dissect major coaching friction down in Sin City, and break down a devastating, landscape-shifting piece of injury news that has completely shut down an elite Oilers blueliner's season.   On Today's Show: Stan Bowman Reshapes the Front Office: The Edmonton Oilers got a major head start on restructuring their executive food chain yesterday afternoon, announcing a massive sweep of promotions within hockey operations. Headlining the changes is data guru Michael Parkatti, who gets elevated to Vice President of Analytics and Technology, signalling a massive analytical push for the franchise. Plus, a very familiar local face joins the big club's upper management, with former Edmonton Oil Kings President and GM Kirt Hill being named Assistant General Manager of Player Procurement. The boys break down what this sweeping executive remodel means for the organization's summer philosophy.   The Cassidy & McCrimmon Standoff: Massive waves coming out of Nevada that have major ripple effects right here in Edmonton. Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy didn't hold back during his appearance on Spittin' Chiclets, voicing serious frustration over the organization blocking him from interviewing for open jobs—including the vacancy in Edmonton. Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon fired back with some strong words of his own, and the fellas dive directly into the drama. Does this put Cassidy on the radar for the Oilers down the road, and what does it say about the stability in Vegas? Evan Bouchard   Ruled Out at Worlds: An absolute disaster scenario has been confirmed for the Oilers. Following a terrifying, illegal hit to the head from American defender Ryan Lindgren that left him briefly unconscious on Thursday, Evan Bouchard has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the World Championships. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Tyler's buddy potting a hole-in-one, the Ace Race, Evan Bouchard getting hurt at the Worlds, and much more. The guys kicked off this week's episode of Real Life with a conversation about Chalmers coincidentally running into one of Tyler's friends at work and not recognizing him, despite having met many times before. That led Tyler to tell the story about that same friend getting a hole-in-one out in Mundare on a hole that was nearly the same length as the hole as the Ace Race. As you'll hear, the boys wanted to do something fun for the milestone, but the course didn't seem to have anything prepared.Shifting gears, the boys discussed Tyler's second attempt at the Ace Race and gave the boys a quick update on what he has planned for July 13th. Given that he couldn't get the job done last summer, Tyler walked through the adjustments he plans to make ahead of this second attempt to get the job done. Turning back to the Oilers, the boys discussed Evan Bouchard taking a hard hit at Worlds and needing assistance to get off the ice. Seeing Bouch get hurt prompted a conversation about whether or not it made sense for any of Edmonton's players to even go.Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast on the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with a breakdown of Drake's three new albums, beefs of the week, and how it seems like the MLB is destined for a lockout next season. On today's podcast, I discussed the Oilers' coaching Plan Bs, Vegas getting through to the Stanley Cup, Habs vs. Hurricanes, and more. Needless to say, we're in full offseason mode around here.I kicked off this week's episode with a quick recap of my trip to Toronto and how wild it is to be an Oilers fan in other cities across the country. Regardless of the mess going on in their own market, all anyone ever wants to talk about is what's going on in Edmonton. I also looked at the Oilers' current coach stalemate and how the guy they want, Bruce Cassidy, is still being tied up by the Vegas Golden Knights. But with Vegas off to the Stanley Cup Final, it sure doesn't seem like Edmonton is going to get an answer on their man any time soon. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a guest Righteous Sack Beating before closing out the podcast with another round of voicemails. The Vancouver Canucks cleaned house by firing Adam Foote and the entire coaching staff just days after naming Ryan Johnson GM, continuing a full organizational reset despite the costly decision to eat two years remaining on the coaches’ contracts. Attention now turns to Manny Malhotra as a possible head coach candidate, creating a potentially awkward wrinkle with his son Caleb viewed as a realistic option for Vancouver at third overall in the draft. Elsewhere, the NHL coaching carousel continues in Toronto, Los Angeles and Edmonton, where the Oilers remain interested in Bruce Cassidy while also initiating talks with Craig Berube. Montreal eliminated Buffalo in Game 7 overtime behind strong goaltending from Jakub Dobes, while some of Buffalo’s top players — including Alex Tuch — failed to deliver in key moments and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was questioned for allowing the OT winner by Alex Newhook. Carolina now enters the Eastern Conference Final after a 12-day layoff that could initially create some rust, though the rest should benefit Frederik Andersen most. The Hurricanes’ depth advantage over a tired, short-benched Montreal squad appears to be significant. Out West, Vegas heads into the Western Conference Final against Colorado with injury concerns surrounding Mark Stone, and even if he returns, the Avalanche are viewed by most as the deeper and more complete team.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Montreal took a 3–2 series lead over Buffalo, in part, by sticking with Jakub Dobes despite a rough first period and a bad third goal against, a decision by Martin St. Louis and goalie coach Marco Marciano that paid off as Dobes settled in and the Habs rolled to a 6–3 win with offence throughout the lineup. Cole Caufield appears to have found his game, while Buffalo’s stars have been too quiet and the Sabres may need line changes and better discipline heading into a potentially chaotic Game 6 at the Bell Centre. Vegas eliminated Anaheim as Mitch Marner scored what the guys called the goal of the playoffs on an outrageous between-the-legs move, while the Ducks still showed major progress this season despite needing more defensive structure and experience. In Edmonton, the Oilers fired Kris Knoblauch just before his extension was set to begin after reports leaked the team unsuccessfully sought permission to speak with Bruce Cassidy, making the situation feel messy and leaving names like Craig Berube and Peter Laviolette in the mix. Toronto also moved on from Berube as new GM John Chayka appears focused on hiring a younger, more data-driven coach, with Kris Knoblauch, Jay Woodcroft and David Carle among the names discussed. Meanwhile, Vancouver revamped its front office by naming the Sedin twins co-presidents of hockey ops and promoting Ryan Johnson to GM, while questions remain about whether the Canucks can keep Manny Malhotra in the organization amid growing interest in him as a head coach elsewhere.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
