C-Lo starts with the sounds of the Yankees losing to the Astros and a pitcher with a last name that sounds like ‘blue balls'. George Lombard Jr made another error last night, making that six straight games. The Mets lost to the Brewers and dropped the series.
Aaron Judge said he doesn't want to play rehab games when he's ready, he wants to go right back to the team. Keith Hernandez said his dog ate two $100 bills. John Harbaugh loves the pizza in NJ. George Lombard Jr had his sixth straight game with an error.
Former Major League Baseball pitcher Brandon Puffer reached the highest level of the game. Then his life took a dramatic turn that ultimately led him from the bullpen to prison. In this powerful episode of The Gametime Guru, Brandon shares his remarkable journey through professional baseball, addiction, incarceration, accountability, faith, sobriety, forgiveness, and redemption. Brandon was drafted by the Minnesota Twins directly out of high school and spent years grinding through the minor leagues. He was released by multiple organizations, continued fighting for another opportunity, and eventually made a pitching adjustment that changed the trajectory of his career: dropping down and throwing sidearm. That adjustment helped Brandon climb through professional baseball and ultimately earn his call to Major League Baseball. He would go on to pitch for organizations including the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Boston Red Sox organization while competing against some of the biggest names in the sport. But Brandon's story goes far beyond baseball. He openly discusses his battle with alcohol, losing his sobriety, ignoring warning signs, and making decisions that eventually resulted in his arrest, conviction, and a five-year prison sentence. Brandon ultimately served three and a half years behind bars. What makes this conversation so impactful is Brandon's willingness to take responsibility for what happened. He does not make excuses. Instead, he talks about the ripple effect of our choices, the people who were hurt by his actions, and why true redemption requires accountability. Brandon shares what it was like to surrender his life to God while incarcerated, walk out of prison with almost nothing, rebuild relationships with his children, take a humbling job working maintenance at a baseball stadium, and slowly rediscover his purpose. Today, Brandon uses his experiences to mentor young athletes, speak to people facing difficult circumstances, return to prisons to share his story, and encourage others to recognize the warning signs in their own lives before it is too late. In this episode, we discuss: Getting drafted by the Minnesota Twins out of high school The grind and uncertainty of Minor League Baseball Being released multiple times and refusing to quit The sidearm pitching adjustment that changed Brandon's career Getting the call to Major League Baseball His unforgettable MLB debut Pitching against some of baseball's biggest stars His first Major League win Addiction and losing his sobriety The warning signs Brandon ignored The night that changed the direction of his life Receiving a five-year prison sentence Spending three and a half years incarcerated The impact his choices had on his family and others Why accountability is essential to redemption Surrendering his life to Christ Starting over after prison Rebuilding relationships with his children Grace, forgiveness, faith, and nearly 18 years of sobriety Why isolation can make our struggles more dangerous Brandon's advice for anyone who knows they need help His book, From the Bullpen to the State Pen Connect with Brandon Puffer: Website: www.coachpuffpositive.com Instagram: @coachpuffpositive X: @coachpuffpositv Brandon's Book: From the Bullpen to the State Pen Available on Amazon. If Brandon's story resonates with you, share this episode with someone who may need to hear the message that your worst decision does not have to become the final chapter of your life. Accountability, humility, faith, and the willingness to ask for help can change the direction of your story. Subscribe to The Gametime Guru for more conversations with athletes, coaches, sports executives, agents, entrepreneurs, and inspiring people who share the lessons behind their journeys in sports and life.

The Jets wanted Malik Nabers badly enough to explore trading up with the Giants, and Connor Hughes reveals New York had Nabers ranked as the best receiver in his draft class. Hughes explains why the Giants quickly shut the door, why the Jets believed Nabers had best-in-the-NFL upside, and whether missing out ultimately worked in their favor. Shaun Morash is in for Tiki Barber alongside Evan Roberts as Hughes also lays out a path to a surprising Jets season, raises major concerns about their defense, and explains why Jaxson Dart still looks uncomfortable and needs more preseason work. Plus, the Giants' growing tension with Cam Skattebo, Odell Beckham Jr.'s roster outlook, and a heated debate over why an MLB mercy rule may eventually become inevitable.

Mike Garafolo, NFL Network reacts to the huge new deal for Leonard Williams, which concludes a busy spending offseason for John Schneider. Seahawks officially have new owners so what's that mean now for the organization? They also touch in on Terrion Arnold signing next week after cutdown day, and Jedd York potential punishment. “Hey, What the Puck!?” Good Good overreaction (1:00) Puck (14:23) Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio (36:18) Mike Garafolo, NFL Network (1:07:24) “Hey, What the Puck!?”
Bump and Stacy discuss what some of the new MLB rule proposals would mean for the offseason, they react to Jalen Milroe starting for the Seahawks in their preseason matchup against the Chiefs, they answer your questions about NFL rule changes and the demise of the Pro Bowl in Four Down Territory, they hop aboard the Hype Train, and they wrap up the show by telling you what you need to know!
Gordon Damer is in for Jerry with the sounds of Ben Rice's HR in the win over Houston. Brewers pitcher Dustin May lasted one pitch as AJ Ewing hit a liner right into his back. Mike Breen was in the SNY booth last night and gushed over Keith Hernandez. The bodycam footage of Jed York's arrest hit the internet.
Gio recaps Chris Stapleton singing Dolly Parton's ‘I Will Always Love You' before a chat on musical instruments, leading into Gordon's update where Boomer learns Marino made him a Dolphins fan—ruining his life in the process. We then cover a classroom "fart corner," the burglary at Tom Brady's new card store, and Pete Crow-Armstrong's balk outrage earning him Gio's praise as MLB's best hyphenated name. Finally, after a bear-versus-beaver Moment of the Day, a picture of a good-looking woman in a WFAN/Yankees rugby shirt hits the station's X account, and Gio admits he's bad at world geography.
Gordon returns with Craig Carton explaining why Troy Aikman was an average quarterback. The NFL announced the Pro Bowl game will be no more. Pete Alonso homered again for the Orioles - his 32nd. Aaron Glenn talked about not calling the defense last year, which was a mistake.
Boomer finds out Gordon's a Dolphins fan because of Dan Marino. In other news, a school teacher put a ‘fart corner' in her classroom. Tom Brady's new card store was already burglarized. Pete Crow-Armstrong was angry about a balk not being called on a pitcher. The Moment of The Day: What's in the water, a bear or a beaver?
Boomer likes what Brian Cashman has done with this team as well.
