The salient point of our discussion centers on the intricate relationship between free will, divine purpose, and the nature of prayer. We delve into the profound implications of understanding that while God invites us to engage with Him, it is crucial to recognize the distinction between merely asking for our desires and seeking alignment with His will. Throughout our dialogue, we explore the concept that God's answers to our prayers—whether they manifest as "yes," "no," or "not yet"—serve a greater purpose in our spiritual growth and maturity. Additionally, we emphasize the necessity of cultivating an intimate relationship with God through prayer, Scripture, and community, highlighting that our journey of faith is one of continuous learning and discovery. Ultimately, we encourage listeners to embrace the complexity of their spiritual journeys, acknowledging that both questions and uncertainties are integral to deepening their understanding of God and His plans for their lives.Takeaways: This episode emphasizes the importance of understanding that our discussions are not necessarily reflective of absolute beliefs, but rather explorations of thoughts that arise in the moment. Throughout the podcast, we discussed the need for a personal relationship with God, which is paramount in guiding our spiritual journey and understanding His will. Send us a textTiny explores Rabbit Hole's Hiegold Single Barrel Cask Strength bourbon while discussing the brand's artistic approach to bottle design and distillery architecture. We take a deep dive into the complex nature of bourbon blending, aging conditions, and how whiskey changes over time.• Rabbit Hole Distillery founded by Kaveh Zamanian creates bourbon that captures the essence of what you smell in actual rickhouses• Kentucky exclusive Hiegold features special label designs by Mark Gagnon celebrating Ohio's aviation history• The Louisville distillery offers a modern architectural experience culminating in a sixth-floor bar with city views• Rabbit Hole's lineup includes Cave Hill (standard bourbon), Hiegold (high rye), DARERINGER (sherry finished), and Boxergrail (rye)• Discussion of how bourbon consistency was the industry standard until about 10 years ago when batch variation became desirable• Experiment mixing Cave Hill and Hiegold together created a distinct gingerbread cookie flavor not present in either bourbon alone• Environmental factors affecting bourbon from production through transportation and shelf storage significantly impact flavor• Upcoming podcast featuring Greg Schneider and his new Four Branches Distillery's 9-year Kentucky straight bourbonPlease support our sponsors: Middle West Spirits (check out their new purchase of Old Elk), Whiskey Thief Distillery, Spirit of French Lick, Rosewood Bourbons and Ryes, and Alan Bishop's One Piece at a Time Distilling Institute.Bourbon enthusiasts know that every bottle tells a story, but Rabbit Hole takes this concept to artistic heights with their intricately designed single barrel releases. Tiny explores their Hiegold expression – a bourbon featuring German rye that captures the authentic essence of what you smell walking through a Kentucky rickhouse rather than the caramel-sweet profiles dominating today's market. The episode peels back the layers on Rabbit Hole's Louisville distillery, a modern architectural marvel where visitors spiral alongside the still, culminating at a sixth-floor bar overlooking the city. Unlike traditional Kentucky distilleries that lean heavily on heritage, founder Kaveh Zamanian has created a contemporary bourbon experience that honors tradition through flavor rather than façade. What truly captivates is Tiny's deep dive into bourbon's evolution over the past decade. Where consistency once reigned supreme, today's market celebrates batch variation – a marketing revolution pioneered by legends like Elmer T. Lee, Jimmy Russell, and Booker Noe who transformed "inconsistency" into exclusivity. Similarly, finished whiskeys once derided by purists are now embraced as innovative expressions of the distiller's craft. The most fascinating segment comes when Tiny experiments with mixing bourbons, discovering how Cave Hill and Hiegold together create a distinct gingerbread cookie note absent in either bourbon independently. This sparks a broader discussion about how bourbon's chemical composition continuously evolves through production, transportation, storage conditions, and even how it settles on your shelf at home.Whether you're a bourbon novice or connoisseur, this episode offers valuable insights into how environmental factors shape what's in your glass, why modern distilleries are embracing batch variation, and why the seemingly simple act of If You Have Gohsts voice over Whiskey ThiefSupport the showhttps://www.scotchybourbonboys.com The Scotchy bourbon Boys are #3 in Feedspots Top 60 whiskey podcasts in the world https://podcast.feedspot.com/whiskey_podcasts/

We forget the reach That JAG had in the world creating of NCIS. This leads us down looking into the diversity of certain shows or the lack of that. Surprising to see that it was missing in the 90s.

Crystal Hefner's memoir "Only Say Good Things" takes us behind the glittering façade of the Playboy Mansion into a world of manipulation, trauma, and ultimately, self-discovery. Brett joins me to unpack this raw, unflinching account that exposes the dark reality of Hugh Hefner's empire and the psychological toll it took on the women within it.Our conversation doesn't shy away from difficult truths. We explore how Crystal's early trauma—losing her father at age 12 and experiencing multiple sexual assaults—created patterns that made her vulnerable to manipulation. "I wanted a mother, but she wanted a new man," Crystal writes about her mother's response to grief, setting the stage for a lifetime of seeking validation from men. Her journey from a self-destructive 22-year-old to Hugh Hefner's girlfriend and eventually his wife reveals how easily vulnerable young women were pulled into this predatory environment. What makes this discussion particularly compelling is how it compares Crystal's experiences with those of Holly Madison from "Down the Rabbit Hole." The similarities are striking: both women entered believing they had power in the relationship, only to discover they were being systematically broken down and controlled. We examine how Hefner created a competitive environment among his girlfriends, using their insecurities to maintain control while presenting a sanitized version of his life to the public through shows like "The Girls Next Door."The memoir challenges us to question broader cultural issues around sexual exploitation, consent, and the way society often blames victims rather than confronting predatory behavior. In part one, as Brett and I discuss Crystal's early years up until that fateful night she attended the Halloween party at the  mansion when her life changed forever.Join us for this thought-provoking two-part conversation that goes beyond celebrity gossip to examine the psychological impact of exploitation and the long, complex path to reclaiming one's identity and worth. This is more than just a memoir review—it's a window into how trauma shapes our choices and how even the most broken paths can eventually lead to healing.Listener discretion advised: this episode includes adult language and discussion about sexual abuse and traumaSupport the show:On Patreon Buy us a book Buy cute merch If you have any comments or questions, please connect with me on Instagram or email babesinbooklandpodcast@gmail.com. The Myth of Personal Maintenance – with Kyle Emanuel FullerIn this episode of The Rational Egoist, Michael Liebowitz speaks with transformational coach and speaker Kyle Emanuel Fuller, author of the forthcoming book Total Self Trust. Together, they challenge the modern concept of “personal maintenance,” exploring why treating personal growth like a chore or checklist can actually limit transformation. With over two decades of experience working with high-achieving entrepreneurs and leaders, Fuller shares how true change comes from aligning mind, body, and spirit—not just managing them. Drawing on insights from psychology, neuroscience, and ancient wisdom, this conversation offers a bold reframe of what it means to live a purposeful, fully integrated life.Michael Leibowitz, host of The Rational Egoist podcast, is a philosopher and political activist who draws inspiration from Ayn Rand's philosophy, advocating for reason, rational self-interest, and individualism. His journey from a 25-year prison sentence to a prominent voice in the libertarian and Objectivist communities highlights the transformative impact of embracing these principles. Leibowitz actively participates in political debates and produces content aimed at promoting individual rights and freedoms. He is the co-author of “Down the Rabbit Hole: How the Culture of Correction Encourages Crime” and “View from a Cage: From Convict to Crusader for Liberty,” which explore societal issues and his personal evolution through Rand's teachings.Explore his work and journey further through his books:“Down the Rabbit Hole”: https://www.amazon.com.au/Down-Rabbit-Hole-Corrections-Encourages/dp/197448064X“View from a Cage”: https://books2read.com/u/4jN6xj join our Ayn Rand Adelaide Meetups here for some seriously social discussions on Freedom https://www.meetup.com/adelaide-ayn-rand-meetup/

Ready to watch two passionate metalheads go down the rabbit hole of obscure bands, Metallica deep cuts, and unfiltered comedy? This episode takes you on a musical adventure you won't forget.John and Jay kick things off by discussing a potential recording opportunity for their band, weighing the merits of a surprisingly affordable studio package that includes recording, mixing, and mastering. Their excitement is tempered with the healthy skepticism of musicians who've learned that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is—but this opportunity might just be the real deal. The conversation shifts to an extensive analysis of Metallica's controversial 2003 album "St. Anger." The hosts dissect why the album was initially maligned (that infamous trash-can snare sound!) while arguing for its importance as a creative stepping stone in the band's evolution. "St. Anger crawled so Death Magnetic could run," they conclude, showcasing their ability to appreciate the nuances of a divisive release. This segment shines with genuine passion as they compare studio and live recordings, highlighting how production choices dramatically impact an album's reception. The most entertaining portion arrives when the hosts embark on a journey of musical discovery, searching YouTube for underground industrial and metal bands. Their authentic reactions to discovering gems like After Dusk, Gloomlight, and The Cold Shoulder capture the pure joy of finding new music. "It's like discovering an artifact that hasn't been found yet," they marvel, sharing their excitement with listeners who might be seeking fresh sounds beyond mainstream metal. The episode wraps with updates on personal health journeys and upcoming endeavors, including a job interview and radio appearance. Throughout it all, John and Jay maintain their signature blend of humor, insight, and unabashed enthusiasm that keeps listeners coming back for more.Whether you're a dedicated metalhead or simply enjoy authentic conversations between friends, hit subscribe and join us each week for more musical explorations, comedy, and unfiltered takes on the things we love.Send us a text message and let us know how awesome we are! "Hello --It is May 28th and welcome to Wonderland Fellow Griever. — “You've just stepped Down the Rabbit Hole — where mental health meets madness after loss. This is your daily dose of truth, grief, and yes, just the right bit of madness.”WEEK 4: Resilience & ReclamationDay 28: Today's truth is:  "Why did you come out here at all?" Idea: The isolation of grief. There are days when grief makes you question your place in the world. You might feel like a shadow of yourself. Or like a misfit in every room.Isolation is part of this journey. But it doesn't have to define it.Today, reach for a small connection. Share a memory, a text, a voice that sees you. These shared memories keep your loved one's spirit alive. You came out here — into this complicated world — because your love for your person still lives. This is a testament to your strength and resilience, even in the face of unbearable loss. And that love deserves to be witnessed. You deserve to be seen. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. Others understand and are here to support you.So, that's what I have today. That's your nugget.AND Here is the Coupon Code: Podcast5 - to use at checkoutIt is good for BOTH the "Because They Lived" Anthology  Info & Submit HERE and The One-on-One Coaching (for moms) HEREBoth coupons good through June 30, 2025 - Thank you for listening! - MelissaTake a breath. "Hello --It is May 27th and welcome to Wonderland Fellow Griever. — “You've just stepped Down the Rabbit Hole — where mental health meets madness after loss. This is your daily dose of truth, grief, and yes, just the right bit of madness.”WEEK 4: Resilience & ReclamationDay 27: Today's truth is: "It sounds uncommon nonsense." Idea: Navigating unhelpful advice. Grief comes with opinions — often terrible ones. "Everything happens for a reason." "They wouldn't want you to be sad." "At least you have other children."Let's name that for what it is: nonsense. Well-intentioned - maybe. But deeply unhelpful. On the other hand, "I'm here for you." "Take all the time you need." "It's okay not to be okay." These are the kind of things that can genuinely help. You don't have to smile and nod or educate every person. But you can give yourself permission to reject the societal noise and feel supported in your struggle. Embrace your emotions and know it's okay to feel what you feel. You understand your grief better than anyone. Your truth is your guide. Let that be louder than their nonsense. Remember, your journey is yours alone, and every step you take is valid. Stand firm in your reality, and don't let others dictate your path to healing. So, that's what I have today. This is your daily dose of truth, grief, and yes, just the right bit of madness.”WEEK 4: Resilience & ReclamationDay 26: Today's truth is: "I shall be punished... by being drowned in my own tears." Idea: Emotional overwhelm.Have you ever felt like grief might consume you? If you let it in, would it pull you under for good? You're not alone. Many of us have felt the weight of grief, fearing that our pain is too big, too dark, too much. But remember, we're all in this together. But your tears are not a punishment. They are a testament to the depth of your love. They are released. They are language.Today, if you cry — let it come. Let it move through you. You are not drowning. You are flowing. And in this flow, you will find healing and eventually, you will find shore again. So, let's end here today. with this nuggetAND Here is the Coupon Code: Podcast5 - to use at checkoutIt is good for BOTH the "Because They Lived" Anthology  Info & Submit HERE and The One-on-One Coaching (for moms) HEREBoth coupons good through June 30, 2025 - Thank you for listening! - MelissaTake a breath. "Hello --It is May 25th and welcome to Wonderland Fellow Griever. — “You've just stepped Down the Rabbit Hole — where mental health meets madness after loss. This is your daily dose of truth, grief, and yes, just the right bit of madness.”WEEK 4: Resilience & ReclamationDay 25: Today's truth is: "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" Idea: Unanswerable questions. This is one of those questions that has no answer. It's a shared experience, much like the ones we ask in grief: Why my loved one? Why then? Why now? And the BIG one - Why suicide? Some things don't make sense. They can't. It's important to acknowledge this. No logic will soothe the ache. No theory will soften the silence. And that's where we meet mystery. Not to solve it — but to survive it. To say: I hate this. I don't understand this. But I'm still breathing inside of it.Today, if the questions are loud, let them be. You don't have to answer them to live with them. And remember, if the weight of these questions becomes too heavy, there are people who care about you and are ready to listen. So, let's stop here. That's your nugget for today.AND Here is the Coupon Code: Podcast5 - to use at checkoutIt is good for BOTH the "Because They Lived" Anthology  Info & Submit HERE and The One-on-One Coaching (for moms) HEREBoth coupons good through June 30, 2025 - Thank you for listening! - MelissaTake a breath. This is your daily dose of truth, grief, and yes, just the right bit of madness.”WEEK 4: Resilience & ReclamationDay 24: Today's truth is: "Then you shouldn't talk." Idea: The silence around grief. Sometimes, we silence ourselves — afraid to be too heavy, sad, or too much. It's not easy to express these emotions; we all struggle with it. Other times, the world silences us — with awkwardness, judgment, or discomfort. But your story matters. Your voice matters. Your grief deserves to be heard and acknowledged. If no one is listening, talk to the page, pour your heart into a journal, speak to the endless sky above, or even address the memory of your loved one. And remember, it's okay to seek professional help if you need it.And if you have no words today, that's okay, too. Silence can be sacred and immensely powerful in its own right.Don't mistake your silence for invisibility or insignificance. You are still here. Your presence is a powerful testament to your existence, loud enough to be recognized and valued.
