Dan takes calls and texts on whether the Trump administration reportedly ordering follow-up strikes on surviving smuggler from narco boats en route from South America is acceptable. Or would this be an example of an 'illegal order' Democrat veterans in Congress have been railing against?
Veronique de Rugy critiques the administration's legal argument at the Supreme Court that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) authorizes the President to impose tariffs. She argues the term "emergency" is used too loosely, defining 50 years of trade deficits as an emergency, potentially granting the President immense, unchecked power to tax. Tariffs are taxes, which Congress should control. De Rugy notes tariffs are already causing damage by raising prices for consumers or forcing companies to cut profits and investment. 1882 NYSE

U.S. troops are being deployed to Portland, Oregon, with authorization to use “full force” from President Donald Trump. The operation aims to protect federal agents and ICE facilities, which Trump says are currently “under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists.”We'll discuss this topic, and others, in this episode of Crossroads.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and guests, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
On Sunday, the Trump administration sent a memo to Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek authorizing the deployment of 200 Oregon National Guard members in Portland immediately for 60 days. The memo says the troops will be deployed to protect federal property and personnel in Portland, which President Trump has called a “war-ravaged city.” Portland and state officials responded by filing a lawsuit and, on Monday, a temporary restraining order to block the Trump administration’s federalization of the Oregon National Guard. Gov. Kotek, AG Rayfield and Portland Mayor Keith Wilson held a news conference on Sunday to announce the lawsuit and counter President Trump’s characterization of Portland. “To bring this narrative to Portland, to say that we are anything but a city on the rise, is counter what truth is,” Wilson said. Gov. Kotek said she had spoken with President Trump and told him that there was no public safety threat that required military intervention in Portland. Several hundred people gathered outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Portland on Sunday afternoon and evening to protest the deployment of federal troops in the city. More than a dozen counterprotesters verbally clashed with protesters, several of whom were hit with pepper balls as ICE agents attempted to escort cars into the building. On Monday morning, Portland Police announced the arrest of two people on assault charges during the protest on Sunday evening. OPB reporters Conrad Wilson and Troy Brynelson join us to discuss the latest developments.

It's Tuesday, March 18th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Nigerian Court upholds death sentence of Christian The Nigerian Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence for a man who attempted to defend himself when attacked by the radical Muslim sect known as the Fulani. Truth Nigeria has reported that a Christian farmer named Sunday Jackson had been sentenced to death by a Muslim judge three years ago. As the Christian was attacked and repeatedly stabbed by a knife-wielding Fulani, Jackson wrested the weapon from him, and stabbed that attacker with the Muslim's own knife. Human rights activist and pastor Dr. William Terence Devlin, who has been advocating for Jackson internationally, expressed his deep disappointment. He said, “This is a failure of the Nigerian justice system. By any legal or moral standard, this man is innocent.” The Open Doors World Watch List rates the country of Nigeria as the seventh most persecuting nation in the world. Additionally, 69% of the 4,476 Christians martyred worldwide last year were from Nigeria. State Dept. might designate Nigeria “Country of Particular Concern” Millions of Nigerian Christians have been severely oppressed by the militant Islamic groups and their own government for over a decade now. As of last week, the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa held a hearing entitled “Conflict and Persecution in Nigeria: the Case for a CPC Designation.” Despite the kidnappings, murders, and injustices perpetuated and tolerated by the nation, the Biden administration had removed Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” in 2021. But let us remember that Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” Lowest favorability rating ever for Democrats A recent CNN poll finds the favorability of the Democrat Party is at the lowest in recorded history. The favorability rating among American adults dipped to 29% in early March, a 20% decline from January 2021. Among Democrats, 52% say their party is going in the wrong direction. The same survey found that 9% more Americans say the president is too extreme, compared to those who say the same thing of the Republican Party. That gap has diminished from 18% in 2022. Trump put 1,300 Voice of America journalists on leave More than 1,300 journalists, producers and staff at Voice of America have been notified they were placed on administrative leave on Saturday. The VOA's parent organization, The U.S. Agency for Global Media, employs 3,500 people with a budget of a little less than $1 billion per year. That's about the size of the budget for Fox News or CNN. But somewhat less than the annual budget for The Worldview in 5 Minutes; we might add. We employ three part-timers. 42 Americans died in natural disasters At least 42 Americans died over the weekend by natural disasters brought by God's sovereign and almighty power to this country. Wildfires destroyed houses and structures in Kansas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, and Oklahoma. An EF-3 tornado in Missouri, with winds between 136 and 165 mph, killed twelve people, and another EF-3 tornado killed three people in Arkansas. One EF-4 tornado, with winds of 166-200 mph, followed up. Also, a massive collision of 55 vehicles on I-70 in Kansas, due largely to high winds and a dust storm, resulted in eight more deaths, reports CBS News. Trump authorizes targeted bombing in Yemen President Donald Trump authorized U.S. airstrikes on Iran-based Houthi rebel targets in Yemen resulting in 53 deaths over the weekend, reports Fox News. The attacks were carried out by fighter jets from the Harry S Truman aircraft carrier, now in the northern Red Sea, as well as Air Force attack planes, and armed drones launched from bases in the region. In response to the war between Israel and Hamas, the Houthi terrorists initially said they were attacking ships connected with Israel, or heading to or from there. However, many of the vessels they've attacked have no connection with Israel. They have launched dozens of missile and drone attacks on commercial ships. Of these, 34 have resulted in reported damage to the vessels, reports the BBC. Major shipping companies have stopped using the Red Sea -- through which almost 15% of global seaborne trade usually passes -- and are using a much longer route around southern Africa instead. In a Truth Social post on March 15, President Trump wrote, "They have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones. We will use overwhelming lethal force until we have achieved our objective." Appearing on Fox News, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth didn't pull any punches. HEGSETH: “We're sitting on four years of deferred maintenance from Joe Biden, where in particular, when you talk about the Houthis, they were allowed for over 100 times to shoot at U.S. ships, to shoot at commercial shipping. Four months ago, when we sent a ship through, it was shot at 17 times. Ships haven't been able to go through for over a year without being shot at. “Freedom of navigation is basic. It's a core national interest. The minute the Houthis say, ‘We'll stop shooting at your ships. We'll stop shooting at your drones,' this campaign will end. But, until then, it will be unrelenting. “We got the reports last night. The Houthi capital felt like an earthquake, dozens and dozens of precision, heavy munitions dropping precisely on the targets that we wanted to hit. “And the message is clear to Iran as well: ‘Your support of the Houthis needs to end immediately. We will hold you accountable as the sponsor of this proxy.' This is not the Biden administration. We will come after the Houthis until they stop shooting in our ships and the Iranians better stay out of it.” The Trump administration has committed to retaliation against the Iran-backed Houthis until they stop disrupting trade in the Red Sea. Franklin Graham urges Zelenskyy to call for national day of prayer U.S. Evangelist Franklin Graham reached out to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling for a day of prayer for the nation. On X, Graham wrote, “I urged him to call for a national day of prayer at this critical time. I would encourage this not only for the people of Ukraine, but also for the people of Russia and around the world—that the church of Jesus Christ stand together in prayer for peace. So many lives have been lost. President Trump is right—this war must end. We need God's help.” Ukraine has accepted the United States's proposed 30-day ceasefire. So far, Russia has not agreed to the terms. Zelensky responded on X, stating that “We value Franklin Graham's voice and rely on his support.” Psalm 67:5-7 is our prayer for the nations: “Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Then the Earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us. And all the ends of the Earth shall fear Him.” Tesla's value dropped 50% In business news, Tesla has lost half its value since the first of the year. Nasdaq down, Gold and Bitcoin up The Nasdaq Composite index has slipped to about where it was last June. Gold is up to $3,000 per ounce. That's a 36% increase over a year ago. And Bitcoin is up 22% over a year ago, at $84,000 per Bitcoin. Christian college women's basketball team victorious in truth and game And finally, a Christian college women's basketball team has won the Canadian league championship despite their opposition to transgenderism in sports. Columbia Bible College of Abbotsford, British Columbia had forfeited games, endured harsh criticism, and received sanctions for refusing to countenance transgender players. Despite the blowback, the team beat St. Mary's University 77-70 to win its first national title. The team had protested a certain male basketball player, pretending to be a woman, by the name of Harriette Mackenzie, who was born Declan Mackenzie. The man had won MVP honors and all-Canadian awards in women's basketball. Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, March 18th, in the year of our Lord 2025. On Sunday, President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied long-range weaponry — called Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS — to strike within Russian territory. Then on Tuesday morning, Ukraine used the ATACMS for the first time, reportedly striking a Russian arsenal in the Bryansk region 70 miles from the Ukrainian border. Additionally, the Pentagon confirmed that the White House intends to issue $7.1 billion in military aid to Ukraine through Presidential Drawdown Authority before the end of Biden's term in January. The news comes as the Russia-Ukraine war hit its 1,000th day on Tuesday. It's Monday, November 18th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslims killed four Christians in Kaduna State, Nigeria As a Nigerian Christian man named Kushuwai started harvesting rice with his family on November 8th in Jema'a County, he suddenly found himself in the middle of a nightmare, reports International Christian Concern. Muslim extremists, believed to be Fulani militants, attacked his farming community, killing four Christians and critically wounding several others in Southern Kaduna State. Kushuwai said, “They came in their numbers, armed with guns, knives, and machetes. They encircled us without firing a shot. My son begged them to spare us, but they attacked him instead. My daughters and the other women ran for their lives while I was struck down trying to intervene.” Although Kushuwai survived with severe injuries, his son was brutally killed. In Romans 8:35, the Apostle Paul asked, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?“ Chinese student killed 8, injured 17 after failing exam On Saturday, a Chinese student killed eight people and injured 17 others in a stabbing attack at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing city, China, reports One America News. Police stated that the suspect, who was arrested on the scene, was a recent graduate who was motivated to kill and maim because of “failing [an] exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship compensation.” Biden authorizes Ukraine to use US-supplied long-range missiles inside Russia President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied long-range missiles to strike deeper inside Russia, easing limitations on the weapons as Russia deploys thousands of North Korean troops to reinforce its war, reports the Associated Press. The decision allowing Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System for attacks farther inside Russia comes as President Vladimir Putin positions North Korean troops along Ukraine's northern border to try to reclaim hundreds of miles of territory seized by Ukrainian forces. North Korea has provided thousands of troops to Russia to help Moscow try to claw back land in the Kursk border region that Ukraine seized this year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and many of his Western supporters have been pressing Biden for months to allow Ukraine to strike military targets deeper inside Russia with Western-supplied missiles, saying the U.S. ban had made it impossible for Ukraine to try to stop Russian attacks on its cities and electrical grids. The Red State, a conservative website wrote, “Maybe Joe Biden didn't get the memo: he lost the presidential election and will be vacating the White House in January. It's an odd time to be announcing a significant--and perhaps escalatory--shift toward Ukraine as they try to stave off Russian aggression in the ongoing war between the two countries.” Trump picked Secretary of Energy President-elect Donald Trump has named energy industry executive Chris Wright as his choice to lead the Department of Energy, pending Senate confirmation, reports The Epoch Times. In a November 16 statement, Trump wrote, “Chris has been a leading technologist and entrepreneur in energy. He has worked in nuclear, solar, geothermal, and oil and gas. Most significantly, Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution that fueled American energy independence, and transformed the global energy markets and geopolitics.” In remarks at a National Conservatism conference in 2021, Wright warned that ongoing attempts to shift from oil, coal, and gas to renewables are “the largest politically driven mis-investment ever,” that will increase energy costs and reduce reliability. Christian group opposes Matt Gaetz for Attorney General A conservative Christian legal group is opposing Present-elect Trump's nomination of Matt Gaetz to be the next Attorney General Liberty Counsel, headed by Mat Staver, released a statement in which they declared, “Matt Gaetz is neither morally nor professionally qualified to become the United States Attorney General. This is the highest law enforcement position in the country. America deserves much better. “Professionally, Matt Gaetz graduated from law school in 2007, and briefly worked for a law firm in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida before being elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2010. He served in that role until 2016, and was then elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2017. Gaetz has three years or less experience in the practice of law, hardly enough to serve as the nation's chief law enforcement officer.” In the statement, Liberty Counsel wrote, “Morally, Gaetz has been under a cloud of sex and drug allegations. On Wednesday, as soon as he was tapped by President-elect Donald Trump, Gaetz immediately resigned from Congress, thus ending the Ethics probe into his sex parties that includes allegations of paying an underage girl for sex. Gaetz will face tough questions during any confirmation hearing and will likely not be confirmed. His immediate resignation raises serious questions as it occurred just two days before the U.S. House Ethics Committee was scheduled to vote to release what is expected to be a damaging report.” Mike Pence opposes RFK Jr at HHS over abortion Former Vice President Mike Pence urged Senate Republicans on Friday to vote against Trump's nomination of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, citing his views on abortion, reports the Christian Post. He said, "The Trump-Pence administration was unapologetically pro-life for our four years in office. There are hundreds of decisions made at HHS every day that either lead our nation toward a respect for life or away from it, and HHS under our administration always stood for life." Court upholds Indiana's ban on gender transition for minors A federal appeals court panel has upheld Indiana's ban on sex-change operations and hormone drugs for minors, including things like administering puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and cosmetic irreversible surgeries, reports The Christian Post. Here's Why. https://youtu.be/eEGENVpjj7s?si=aJrrp9c27WUT4IPn The Next News Network 2.23M subscribers 121,585 views Oct 16, 2024 The Top News Of The Day Ladies and gentlemen, what I'm about to tell you will send chills down your spine. This is Gary Franchi, and you're watching a bombshell segment from Next News Network's RAW FEED that's about to blow the lid off everything you thought you knew about government overreach. Ron Paul, the champion of liberty, has just sounded the alarm on a Department of Defense directive that could change everything. We're talking about a directive that could give the military the power to use lethal force against American citizens on American soil. This isn't science fiction, folks. It's happening right now, just weeks before the most critical election of our lifetime. The directive, DOD 5240.01, was quietly reissued on September 27, 2024. It authorizes the military to assist law enforcement agencies when "lives are in danger." But here's the kicker: it includes provisions for "responding with assets with potential for lethality" in situations where it's "reasonably foreseeable" that lethal force might be used. Let that sink in. The military can now legally kill American citizens if they deem it necessary. And who decides what's necessary? That's the million-dollar question. But it gets worse. This directive comes at a time when the media is ramping up rhetoric about potential election violence. We've got MSNBC pundits talking about Republicans potentially burning down election centers. We've got Joy Reid spewing nonsense about "fascist groundswells" and "armed resistance." It's almost as if they're setting the stage for something big. And let's not forget the timing. This directive was issued just weeks before an election that's already surrounded by controversy. Coincidence? I think not. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Gary, this sounds too outrageous to be true." But that's exactly why we need your support. The mainstream media won't touch this story with a ten-foot pole. We need your help to keep this vital information flowing. Right now, I'm asking you to make a donation to keep Next News Network on the air. Your contribution could be the difference between exposing this tyranny and letting it take root. Head to https://www.givesendgo.com/Keep-Next-... or donate via PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/donate?campaig.... Every dollar counts in this fight for the soul of our nation. But here's where it gets really interesting. Remember when Kamala Harris was talking about Trump potentially using the military against his opponents? Well, it looks like her administration just gave themselves that very power. The irony would be laughable if it weren't so terrifying. And let's not forget about the election itself. We've got 60 Minutes doing puff pieces about how long it takes to count ballots, setting the stage for delayed results. We've got terror plots being foiled. It's almost as if they're preparing us for something big. Ron Paul himself has broken down this directive, and his analysis is chilling. He points out that this isn't a law passed by Congress – it's an administrative decision made by unelected bureaucrats. It's the deep state in action, folks. But why now? Why just before the election? Some are speculating that this is preparation for potential unrest. There's talk of "civil war conditions," of the need for "bodyguards for everybody." It's as if they're expecting – or perhaps planning for – chaos. And let's not forget the broader context. We've got the Atlantic running articles about how Kamala Harris might have to "stop the steal." We've got the Lincoln Project talking about anticipating violence at polling places. It's a perfect storm of fear-mongering and preparation for authoritarian action. So here's the million-dollar question: Is this directive an isolated incident, or part of a larger pattern of government overreach? And more importantly, what can we, as citizens, do to protect our rights? That's where you come in. We need you to stay informed, stay vigilant, and spread the truth. Follow us on X, subscribe to our Rumble channel, and most importantly, keep watching Next News Network. Because in this age of government overreach, we're your last line of defense against tyranny. Remember, this isn't just about a directive. It's about the future of our democracy. And if we don't stand up now, we might not get another chance. Stay tuned, stay informed, and remember: the power still lies with the people. But only if we're brave enough to use it. Catch the whole RAW FEED live stream at https://youtube.com/live/u2LRQUCV5LE
