Send us a Text Message. In Nordein's newest offering, "Reisa", we're given a three-course meal teasing some new and old ideas to expect from the project in the future, taking us from the world of early 2000s "celtic" folk world of into a more contemporary dark folk sound by the EP's end. A short review for a short EP - let's talk about it!"Nordein, fronted by Norwegian musician and producer Jørn Øyhus, blends Nordic folk with rich, evocative sounds. Known for his work with Nordjevel, Varde, and Byrdi, Jørn brings a unique touch to Nordein's three albums and new EP, Reisa. This latest release merges traditional and modern elements, capturing the essence of nature's rebirth.Nordein have for the past years been the main focus, with its three full length albums plus a handful of singles. Reisa is the new EP, hinting both backwards and forward in time musically, hailing back to the debut Nordariket, as well as pointing to new soundscapes. Spring is a journey on its own, beginning with melancholic Irish bouzouki in the forest accompanied by a owl (own night time recording). The track evolves beautifully from an introspective dark folk mood into a triumphant blooming ritual of spring, with sounds of flutes, choirs, viking drums and strings. Listening to the track is like going from a misty and gloomy early dawn, through full blown sunny mid-day and into the night. Spring is the celebration of nature coming back to life after the harsh northern winter, and encapsulates the very essence of growing, blooming and thriving, though with thoughtful undertones all the way."Support the Show.

Reisa Babic is a good friend, a pillar in her community, a cancer survivor, and one of the most humble and inspiring people you will meet, simply by the way she lives her life. Diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, she teaches all those who know her how to live life to the fullest, enjoy every moment, and not to take anything for granted … and she does this without truly teaching or preaching. She is super real with all the feelings that arise in raising an almost 15-year old son in Silicon Valley, as a single parent, and simply wanting one wish: to see him grow up. She is an active support for others diagnosed with cancer, particularly moms or other parents, and helps to educate others on the disease and ways to live with it, and moreso, to live fully with it. You will find her attitude inspiring, and find yourself rooting for Reisa when she says, “I may have cancer, but it will never have me!” Reisa Babic. Reisa is a single mother, working full time, living with cancer. When she is not working, she is spending time with her 14-year old son (when he isn't playing video games) who is her “life saver,” watching him play soccer or football. Reisa is an active volunteer with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, supporting those diagnosed with cancer and helping them understand there is hope. Work/life balance is very important to ensuring she is available for her son while still succeeding at work. Too many people live to work and not enough of us enjoy what we have while we are here.

Doni and Tawny are joined this week by Reisa Young, a poet who recently released her very first poetry book. Tawny and Reisa explain how they met and talk about the different roads they took to publishing their work and what they predict is next for their writing careers. They also talk about the pressure of social media and how hard it is to gain a following, especially when you have to expose your art to do so. The Ladies laugh their way through their own confusion and joke about how hard it can be to stay on topic and stay present in a conversation. The episode is finished off with some celebrity gossip as Doni and Tawny fill Reisa in on all the spicy things she misses by skipping certain reality shows; i.e. anything that includes the word “housewife”.Follow Reisa!IG: @paperrr.cutAnd go find her book Dancing in My Tears on Amazon Books.Show IG:@supladiespodcast

Dr. Reisa Sperling is leading a study into a new drug treatment that could prevent memory loss before symptoms show. The changes in the brain that lead to Alzheimer’s occur years before symptoms, such as forgetfulness, appear. Dr. Sperling is leading the Anti-Amyloid Treatment in Asymptomatic Alzheimer’s (A4 for short) study which targets amyloid, a protein that builds up in the brain and that some researchers believe leads to memory loss. One thousand men and women are needed to participate in this three-year study, which has over 60 site locations.
