Over the years, there have been a lot more comics to film adaptations than we realized. Inspired by our recent trek to see Rifftrax Live: Return of the Swamp Thing, we're revisiting some of the lowlights of the bronze age of comic book adaptations - films made from 1978-1997. Spanning Richard Donner's "Superman: The Movie" through Joel Schumacher's "Batman and Robin", there are a whole lot of comic book adaptations to re-discover (and many more that should remain hidden).
Today, we're talking about OLD from M. Night Shyamalan, and also the first Just the Jokes stretch goal from the RiffTrax Live 2022 Kickstarter campaign! In this episode, Brandi returns to The Dark Corner to review a handful of films. First, we provide some news. For instance, we discuss the fallout between Netflix and Paramount over the distribution rights for Star Trek. On the bright side, Brandi's boss buys us VIP tickets to FanX 2022. DJ Evil Dave presents as the Dark Track of the episode f monday (New Order x Crazy Frog) by elias and the error from LAZZZZER TAG PIZZZZA PARTY 3. Elias and the error create electronic dance music incorporating many other genres. Also, we play a promo for the Still Buffering podcast. We devote the main chunk of the show to reviewing film and television. First, we sing our praises of Pitch Perfect. Also, we finally get around to reviewing Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. On top of that, we rewatch Shang-Chi and manage to squeeze in a couple RiffTrax Live shows. Finally we shout out our friend Ed and the Star Trek fans overseas.
As part of the next evolution for TBRC, we have decided to start doing out shows LIVE on Twitch (Every Sunday at 10 PM EST), and we had our "test run" today. And of course, we had technical issues and lost Dave for something like half an hour. Thankfully, Matthew J Elliot was in the chat so I wasn't just talking to myself. Anyway, after Dave came back, we talked about the return of RiffTrax Live with Hobgoblins, and we talked about the long awaited Baby Ghost! So, if you were unable to join us for the show today, or any other live broadcasts we do, we are still continuing the podcast as you know and love it. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/trueblueriffcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/trueblueriffcast/support

Alan and Michael discuss a bad film they saw last year at RiffTrax Live. Does low budget have to equate to bad story telling? By the way, neither Alan our Michael get the titles right off the stuff they are talking about. The film in question is "Star Raiders: The Adventures of Saber Raine", and the Canadian TV series Michael was trying to remember was "Starhunter". The second season was retooled with a mostly different cast as "Starhunter 2300". Alan also made reference to "Space Rangers", A CBS series that lasted only six episodes. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fandorium/message

We also just invented the hammock sidecar, so get ready to be very relaxed and very hospitalized.

Kevin and Kornflake take a break from their seemingly nonstop convention and concert schedule, and enjoy a miserably hot summer day in Chickentown, where the iced coffee is their only friend. This week's topics include: giant rodents; angry pies; the Rifftrax Live version of Sharknado (featuring our hero, Robbie Rist); Kevin's all-time favorite summer movies (featuring our other heroes, Cindy Morgan and Chris Makepeace); a mysterious gift from a random elevator guy (also featuring Chris Makepeace); Kornflake's cooking class experience (featuring scary doppelgangers); and how to accidentally get married, sitcom-style. Enjoy! (This is a short one, kids. Our coffee cubes were melting.)
I got to talk to one of the men behind RiffTrax, as well as second Mystery Science Theater 3000 host Mike Nelson. We cover the origin of RiffTrax and the writing process as the team prepared for the RiffTrax Live event, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. See the accompanying article here.

Kevin and Kornflake have slightly different opinions of "Gangnam Style" (you're shocked, aren't you?); Kevin recommends the novel "Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend" by his old neighbor, Matthew Dicks; we try to figure out which of Kornflake's friends are indeed imaginary; we recommend The Radio Adventures of Doctor Floyd and Rifftrax Live; and thanks to a suggestion from Blasted Bill Putt, we present a Top 4 1/2 List of talking birds. (Why did it take 24 episodes for us to do a bird-themed list? According to Mr. Owl, the world may never know.)
