High on the success of the Boozy Book Fair (it was, according to Sam, "really banging"), a great in-shop reading and signing, and a couple days off for Indigenous Peoples Day, Sam and Hannah are in a mood, with nothing to complain about. Also, no dudes allowed, this week, with a shout out to the guy who really likes Rachel Kushner. - "The Time Keepers," by Alyson Richman, which, sorry, is rather maudlin and bad. It's not a time travel book. - "The Plot," by Jean Hanff Korelitz, which Hannah read mostly because "The Sequel" just came out. The second half was entertaining, anyway. - "The Road to Dalton" and "Where the River Meets the Sea," by Shannon Bowring, a librarian who grew up in the County in Maine. You really should have come to see her speak a couple weeks ago. - "Deep Cuts," by Holly Brickley, which comes out in, like, February, but it was the bottom of the TBR pile and about a fictional music writer, so Sam read it anyway. It's a major nostalgia trip if you ... like music. - "From Here to the Great Unknown" (not, actually, "From Here to Eternity"), by Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough. Hannah actually listened to it, mostly because Julia Roberts is the narrator, but also really enjoyed it.

Our friend James Ochoa is back! This week we're talking about the lessons you can learn from inflection points in your ADHD journey. What did you learn? What did you gain? What can come from it?We start with an event. Take some time in a grounded space, and think of an event from your past that we either positive or problematic in relation to your experience with ADHD. For Pete, it was an experience early in his freelance career, something that still causes physical discomfort twenty years later.Next, ask yourself these life-transformation questions: What did I learn from the event? What strengths did you gain from going through this experience? What hope came out of this experience? What wisdom was gathered in going through this? What new knowledge do you now have? James suggests using this exercise as a resource journal of life experiences and memories, a place to catalog the positive experiences and process the challenges over time. This week, James leads Pete through the exercise and conjures up all that old discomfort and quite a few laughs, all to rewire old experiences for the better.Learn more about James, his work, and his ADHD Town Halls on his website right here! The poet, Audre Lorde, is famous for saying, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” Building on this truth, we'll explore how caring for each other – and allowing ourselves to be cared for by others – can help us expand our ideas of survival and joy beyond the individual and into the community. Here is an exciting interview! Cameron sat down with Hip Hop Icon Chad "Ap" Bromley better known in the music industry as "Apathy". Apathy has been a recording artist who has been touring the world for more than 24 years, after discovering his love for the genre at a very young age. Hip Hop was something that he and his father would bond over as his parents had him at a young age. We learn that when Apathy becomes interested in learning something, he becomes an absolute student of it. This is how he grew as an artist, by studying all those who came before him in depth... How they wrote their rhymes, produced the beats, distributed the music, etc. Because of this, Apathy has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry such as: Snoop, Nas, Busta, Linkin Park, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Pharoahe Monch, Cypress Hill and a lot more. He was also signed to Atlantic Records himself, but later went and launched his own recording studio called Dirty Version Records. So what does Hip Hop and Real Estate have to do with one another? In this interview, Apathy talks about how he and his partner were making all of money while producing records and touring the world and they weren't really doing anything with it. Now that Ap is a father and has a family, he and his best friend / business partner decided to start investing in Real Estate. One of the biggest problems they faced was the Agents they were working with were not up to their standard. Apathy figured he could do it better than them, and like his Hip Hop Journey he became a student of Real Estate. Apathy got his license as an Agent and has become on of the top REALTORS(R) in Connecticut. This has become a new found love working in this industry and helping people buy or sell their homes has given him a new passion. Like producing music, Apathy is now at the top of his game as a top producing REALTOR(R), and as with connecting with the biggest names in Hip Hop, he is building a network of top agents from across the globe! Apathy is world wide! Now Apathy is nowhere near done as a Hip Hop Artist though. He just released a new studio Album this year during the pandemic. That album is called "Where the River Meets the Sea". This is a DEEP album that is mixed with the emotions of his fathers passing and he himself becoming a father. We discuss the album in the interview and what went into the creation of the tracks. The Album is available now and can be listened to on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/34E9uEfvYa7IqY9Z5qhdrp To Connect with Apathy check him out on Instagram @apathy or via his website www.dirtyvirsionrecords.com To connect with Cameron you can find him on Instagram @Camemanning For more Real Estate Content Visit. www.youtube.com/cameronmanning --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/cameronmanning/support

What does hip hop and real estate have in common? In a very personal and introspective interview, we answer that question and so much more, with Chad “Ap” Bromley, better known in the hip hop world as “Apathy.” This hip hop legend explains how he was trying to make it as a white rapper before Eminem. Apathy found joy in hip hop music through his dad, who used to tape hip hop shows on the radio just when the music genre was starting to make waves. Apathy was born to teenage parents in an economically destitute neighbourhood in Connecticut. But it wasn't all that bad as he had always shared hip hop with his dad. “My father had a big work van and we would drive around. I remember, summertime, bumping the Beastie Boys and my dad turning it up loud so it would bump and I just felt like the coolest kid in the world,” said Apathy, who dropped by the RUNGPG Podcast to share his experience in both hip hop and real estate. Yep! This critically acclaimed rapper is also helping people find the right homes for them. And his hip hop background was actually a factor that led him to the real estate industry. Apathy started rapping at the age of five, freestyling the intro to Chaka Khan's “I Feel For You.” But it wasn't until he turned 15 that he actually took it seriously, traveling to New York City for rap battles and ciphers. His talent for rap battles almost got him killed at the famous Disco Fever nightclub in South Bronx. Apathy eventually broke out into the music industry with an appearance on Jedi Mind Tricks' debut album. In 2006, Apathy debuted his own album, “Eastern Philosophy.” He has since worked with some of the biggest names in music: DJ Premier, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Linkin Park and Busta Rhymes. So, how did he end up in real estate? Apathy shared that after finishing a tour, he would usually have a pile of cash where he would whittle away from. He thought it would be smarter to invest the money he earned from his music tours. He also had a not-so good experience with some real estate agents and he wanted to change how the business is done. Apathy shared that while looking for a house with his wife, the real estate agents he worked with never really educated him about the industry. The rapper and real estate agent wants to sell houses for the right reason, and that is to help people find a place where they could make memories. Here are the other topics we discussed during the podcast: What it was like growing up in Connecticut. His earliest hip hop influences. How he started in hip hop. What it was like being a white rapper. How he almost got shot one night in the Bronx. Where the name Apathy came from. Making money doing something he loves. His creative process. The best and worst moments during live shows. Working with Snoop Dogg. His dream collaborations? His love of Canada. The biggest contributor to his longevity in hip hop. His advice to up-and-coming artists. About his latest album “Where the River Meets the Sea.” How he ended up in real estate. His upcoming projects. The three people he wants to have dinner with. The legacy Apathy wants to leave behind. Apathy is a student of Hip-Hop. “I study them so seriously. Other people listen to rap and they are fans of it, but I study it to the molecular level. I pick apart everything they said, why they put certain words together, the alliteration, the phonetics, all of these things. And that's why I write the way I do,” said Apathy. NOTE: Apathy also created and mixed the new intro for the RUNGPG podcast. 'Tis a fine night's work in the Windy City Irish Radio studios as the lads drop anchor and spin tales of the open sea. Whether it's the sailors, the pirates or the mermaids awashed, it's all they can do to avoid the watery grave to bring this fine music to you. Listen for tales of the North Sea Holes and the Flowers of Bermuda and find out for yourself where The River Meets the Sea. With Solas, Gaelic Storm, Dylan Walshe and Shannon Sharon in the galley, The Chieftains with The Decemberists, The Jeremiahs, and JigJam tending the side, Richard Thompson - RT and Michael McDermott raising the colors and Joanna Hyde & Tadhg Ó Meachair, Phil Coulter and Liam Clancy manning the grog with Tannahill Weavers at the Old Town School of Folk, Chicago, it's about all Tim and Mike can do to keep the boat afloat and avoid the fate of Davy Jones Locker. Tune in each Wednesday from 8PM to 9PM to WSBC 1240 AM and catch this watery podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com
