This week The Joy of Cruising Podcast is delighted to welcome Scott Eddy. I wrote about Scott in Cruising Interrupted amzn.to/3seFU8y in a section called "The Globetrotters." And a globetrotter Scott is, whether by land or sea or literally—it's on his website and social media: Innovator—Trendsetter—Globetrotter. And, Scott is the television host for the first travel series ever on LifetimeTV, called Video Globetrotter. @MrScottEddy, as he is known on social media where he is among the world's most popular travel personalities, has taken somewhat of a circuitous route to arrive at his current designation as one of the top travel influencers in the world. A Forbes Magazine profile stated that Scott Eddy “is consistently rated as one of the top five luxury travel influencers in the world.” Yet, travel wasn't even Scott's first career, although he traveled quite a bit with his family in his youth. Before travel, he found success in financial services as a stockbroker. But if not for a tragic twist of fate Scott would have ended up in neither investments nor travel, but as a police officer. Scott has over 100 cruises but he transcends cruising. He is a top tier hospitality and travel brand ambassador and influencer. He lives in south Florida but from following his whereabouts on his social media you're as likely to find him anywhere in the world—abroad or in the US—on a given day. Support the show

After 10 years traveling between Florida and New York as a stockbroker, Scott said goodbye to the corporate world and embarked on his first life changing trip. Scott's lifestyle gradually transformed into something he couldn't plan or predict, starting with his moving permanently to Asia to explore life beyond living in the United States. After living in Europe and Asia for 17 years, Scott fell in love with several different cultures and recognized the value of creating lasting relationships. I had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to entrepreneur and TV Host, Scott Eddy, and the Founder & CEO of DNC Media, Ceebz Gerard. During this discussion, they went into detail about the goal and the vision they had when they travelled to film in Kenya. Ceebz discussed the set-up of his company, DNC Media, and what type of work they have done in the past. Scott explains why he wanted to do business with Ceebz & DNC Media. From there, you will see why they connected. Throughout the chat, they both explained how great of a challenge it was creating content in Kenya. They also talked about the work they had to do as a team to make it all work. We talk about the importance of professionalism and being creative at all times. They also talk about needing a bit of luck. I asked them what they took away from this project and whether it has left them with an appetite to work more in Africa. Watch the video created https://youtu.be/MovhJpwMLiM This is definitely the talk to watch with the footage and photos seen during the show if you haven't travelled to Kenya. It will make you want to book your next trip there. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/vv4RxXJqxTM). Looking for how to become an influencer on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn? I had the pleasure of talking to entrepreneur, globetrotter and travel host, Scott Eddy. One of our most significant discussions was on how to run a business that incorporates travel into your work and lifestyle and how anyone can do it at the highest standard. Scott and I spoke about his early life, working in the corporate world as a stockbroker. We talked about why he left that field and what made him fall in love with travel. My main focus point with Scott was looking at how people want to be in the travel space but don't necessarily have the work ethic or lack the business acumen to be part of it. I talked about his success and what he has that not many have. Has his corporate success early on helped lead to the success he has now? I also discussed why Scott feels as though the influencer space lacks creativity and why he doesn't want to be regarded as one. Scott and I talked about his T.V. show, VideoGlobetrotter, which airs in the United States on Lifestyle. I asked him what the show entails and what makes it different from other travel shows. We spoke about the future of the show. All of that and much more on this fascinating discussion. You can also watch the episode on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/Gh_aOSktxTE). Say Yes to Travel featured a special guest recently, Mr. Scott Eddy. Host Sarah Dandashy excitedly welcomed her friend and hospitality expert, influencer, and entrepreneur Scott Eddy. Eddy’s unique stories began with his days as a stockbroker. He then said goodbye to the corporate world and took a fateful trip to Southeast Asia. For the next 17 years, he lived in Europe and Asia, creating relationships and learning from other cultures. He entered back into the business world by starting one of the first digital agencies in Southeast Asia, where hospitality brands came to know and trust him. He’s an OG digital nomad that now consults with the travel industry under his own brand. When asked about his pivot during COVID, Eddy said, “You can stick your head in the sand or not. There’s never been a better time, if you’re smart, to launch something.”In lessons learned during COVID, Eddy noted, “If the pandemic didn’t teach you to go all-in on technology and social media, then nothing will. Those are the brands that one. Those that didn’t are dinosaurs in the way they think. You’ll never beat technology.”The pandemic inspired Eddy to create a new kind of conference for the industry. He’ll be hosting Hospitality 2021 on March 25 and 26. It’s free and designed to support professionals that need the right tools and guidance. “It’s not a conference; it’s a conversation. I want to instill some confidence in planning for an uncertain future.” Eddy explained.
They say that entire lifetimes can be lived through the different seasons we encounter as we grow. This is an absolute truth in the life of Mr. Scott Eddy. World Traveler, Business Owner, Entrepreneur, Stockbroker, are all titles that Scott holds with pride as he is constantly and optimistically looking to the future evolution of his career and what he can bring to strengthen the brands he works with.In this interview, we talked about what inspired him to start as a travel expert traveling all over the world and how the Hospitality industry can succeed with digital marketing.Scott is a true people person and believes human connection is the only key to success and happiness. He is also the TV host for the new travel series on Lifetime Television calledhttps://videoglobetrotter.com/ ( Video Globetrotter). “The one skill that you need no matter what industry you’re in is sales.” Scott Eddy Worst investment everScott comes from a police background. His father was a Fort Lauderdale cop. Just like everybody on his dad’s side, Scott’s plan in life was to graduate high school, join the police academy, become a cop, get married, have kids, retire, and die. Getting ready to be a copScott spent every day after school in the police department, where he learned everything about being a cop. He watched an autopsy when he was 13, saw interrogations, and went on ride alongs. That was Scott’s whole life. The dream turns to dustThree weeks before Scott graduated high school, and just a few months before he joined the police, his father was killed in a plane crash in the line of duty. This turned Scott’s whole world upside down and killed his dream to become a police officer. Lessons learnedFace tragedy head-onWhen tragedy strikes, you could stick your head in the sand, pity yourself, allow yourself to get crushed every time you think about it, and prevent you from moving forward. Or you could stare it in the face and move on with your life. Choose your friends wiselyContinually reevaluate and look at who you surround yourself with. If it’s the wrong people block them, unfollow them and just immediately cut them out of your life. Always have people that uplift you. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in. Manage your time wellTime management is your best friend or your worst enemy. You have to be religiously strict with your time. Andrew’s takeawaysPut your life into perspectiveOne of the tools tohttps://myworstinvestmentever.com/ep145-aaron-walker-your-worst-moments-can-focus-you-on-creating-your-legacy/ ( put your life into perspective) is to look at it from the outside in. Talk to people and get other views. Use this tool to move through tragedy. Tragedies are not always mistakesSometimes a tragedy can be a mistake; sometimes, it’s just a simple tragedy. How we handle the bad things that come into our life is what matters. Take tragedies head-on and allow yourself to grow from that experience. Actionable adviceBefore you make any big decision, take a step back, take an extra day, and look at it from the outside looking in. If you have people you trust in your inner circle, ask for their opinion. By looking at things from the outside in, you’re always going to have a clearer mind. In this podcast episode, we learn the import of what it is to see everyone on social media as humans, and not just another comment or direct message in our inbox. It was an absolute pleasure interviewing Mr. Scott Eddy. He really opened up my eyes and helped me realize the importance of seeing my Instagram followers, Facebook fans, etc., like actual people. He stresses the importance of humanizing your attack on social media and approaching it as an opportunity to engage and connect with real people who’ve shown an interest in you. Instead of focusing on the ways you can monetize and gain more followers for your own benefit. Honestly, Scott has been one of the most “real” and unapologetically honest guests I’ve interviewed to date and I couldn’t be more excited to take what I’ve learned from him today and apply it immediately myself. https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1454395280?ls=1&mt=2 (CLICK HERE to Subscribe, Rate & Review this podcast! ) Mr. Scott’s Links: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MrScottEddyPage/ (https://www.facebook.com/MrScottEddyPage/) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrscotteddy/ (https://www.instagram.com/mrscotteddy/) Twitter: https://twitter.com/mrscotteddy (https://twitter.com/mrscotteddy)

Today’s guest is one I had the pleasure of meeting in one of the many places he considers home, Bangkok. He took me to a cigar and whiskey bar in which they were projecting Buster Keaton on the brick wall and had a jazz singer in the corner. After a day spent on Khao San Road, and the backpacker scene there, this was a whole different side of Bangkok. The whole place felt a lot more New York than it did back alley Thailand. And that’s how where I got to know Scott Eddy, a former stockbroker turned world traveling digital marketing consultant and public speaker. More recently, he’s added digital nomad to list of descriptors. But travel wasn’t always there for Scott, and we’re going to get into the direction he’s taken his career, how and why. Above all things, I’ve noticed Scott to be an opportunist in the best of ways — he never passes the opportunity to make a new connection, visit a new place, meet a new audience, or just say hello and be curious.
