He regrets not visiting the grave of Ernest ShackletonWhen they returned home the soldiers were searched by the RMP for war trophies.Having concluded the search Keith exited the building and was unexpectedly met by his mum. The Apprentice winner Joseph Valente on the push to electrifying transport networks and a focus on sustainabilityThe majority (70%) of small businesses in the UK are looking to make 2022 the year in which they put the focus firmly on going green and the same percentage are confident they will achieve their goals for the next 12 months, playing their part in helping the government reach its carbon emission targets. With more than three quarters (77%) of SMEs saying resolving to develop a sustainable business model is a top goal for the next 12 months and almost two thirds (66%) also putting the emphasis on digitising their business, according to Mercedes-Benz Vans research, there is a real appetite to make changes at the start of a new year.Indeed, 61% of small business owners plan to switch to electric vehicles this year, with more than half (54%) seeking to electrify their transport networks before the end of 2022.The main drivers behind these resolutions for the year ahead are the many business opportunities itprovides (41%), how it will help change the negative impact businesses have on the environment (39%) and customer expectation for them to become more eco-friendly (39%).However, SME owners say they need help with 37% believing there is not enough public funding to help adapt to a more sustainable business model. This makes 40% of them feel unsupported by the government, 35% feel at a disadvantage and leaves 26% frustrated.Small businesses are concerned by how their sustainability is perceived with 15% saying they have already been questioned by customers about their eco credentials while 61% of owners would cease working with a partner or supplier if they were not true to their environmental promises and half are worried about the sustainability credentials of their partners / suppliers.Joseph Valente, the 2015 winner of The Apprentice, is perfectly placed to answer SME owners' questions and provide reassurance because since being helped in creating his business by Sir Alan Sugar he has been advising companies around the country how they can achieve their business objectives and therefore produce the results they need to flourish and grow. With a new series of The Apprentice underway, Joseph can explain what you need to succeed and can cast his eye over the runners and riders entering Sir Alan's boardroom this time around and who he thinks is most deserving of following in his footsteps. Nick Hewer was Sir Alan Sugar's right-hand man during a decade on The Apprentice, before moving over to host Channel 4's Countdown. He's now handed over the reins to Anne Robinson, so Laurence Mozafari interviewed him about what's next, his work with Fairtrade, how to launch a business in the post-Covid world, and of course, the biggest question of all: what is the meaning of life?
It's the summer of 1994 and Tottenham are in turmoil. They've been hit with a 12-point deduction, a £600,000 fine and a season ban from the FA Cup.White Hart Lane appeared to be the last ground that German World Cup winner Jurgen Klinsmann would consider as a place to call home. But Spurs owner Sir Alan Sugar knew his club needed inspiration - and was quite literally willing to push the boat out to get his man.Football's Cult Heroes explores how Klinsmann charmed a nation of haters, became a pioneer for top European players to join the Premier League and left Spurs fans always wanting more. This is the story of the superstar striker that was taken into the hearts of the Spurs faithful and returned to save them during their lowest moment - told by the team-mates, journalists and fans that were there.Contributions from Julie Welch, Raphael Honigstein, Theo Delaney, Gary Mabbutt and David Howells.Interviews conducted in 2020 and 2021 in accordance with UK coronavirus restrictions. You can vote for Football's Cult Heroes in the Sports Podcast Awards by following this link: https://bit.ly/3qrEdEV

Apprentice UK semi-finalist, experienced make-up artist and business owner, Grainne McCoy joins Pete today to discuss how she risked everything to open up a brand new shop during the pandemic and how she has taken it from strength to strength. Together they discuss how arrogance of a business owner can block the company's growth, how the pandemic has encouraged people to support local businesses and why you should not fixate yourself with the negative things people may say about you. KEY TAKEAWAYS So many people would not admit that their business is not good at certain things, however, this is how your business grows. If there is any sort of arrogance within the owner of the business who thinks that they can do everything right and not take any criticism then it is never going to work. If you dwell on an idea too much and do not create action straight away, the fear overtakes the idea and it will not end up happening. You have to be very quick and savvy about what you want to do, get your first idea out there about how you want to do something and follow through with it. Have that mindset of ‘I don't know how to do it, but I will figure it out along the way”. One good thing that has come out of the pandemic is the movement for others to support local business owners. ‘Support local' has to continue post pandemic as well as the ‘be kind' movement. It is really important for society and it cannot just be a pandemic thing. Everyday is a school day. If you know who you are and wake up in the morning and you think the same as the day before and act the same with somebody you've never met before as you would with your mother, then you know you are authentic. If people do not understand you, then they will have to move on, because you cannot change and you shouldn't want to change just because some people do not understand you. Going through life, you are going to come across people that do not like you. Everybody is not meant to like you and if you were to get so fixated on comments about you, then you will really put yourself into a dark hole. If you concentrate on people that do not get you you will pull your true self back, always remember there are a lot more people who do get you, than who don't. BEST MOMENTS “Don't let the opinion of others block your future.” “Ask, believe and receive is great, but where is the work?” “I think people are starting to realise that we definitely need to support the locals.” “It was born in a lockdown, it was my lockdown baby.” “Do people get me? I don't think so..” ABOUT THE GUEST “Grainne McCoy is known for being a Semi-Finalist on The Apprentice UK in 2016. With an average of 8 million viewers tuning in each week.
