Mata Hari -- publicly portrayed as a mysterious Javan princess who became famous for her exotic dance routines and high profile affairs -- has become the poster child for twentieth century female espionage. The bombshell sex symbol who can seduce any man. The cunning and ruthless individual who will betray anyone to enrich herself as a double agent. She is model for the Bond femme fatales that have become a cinematic trope. But, is any of this true? In this episode I speak with historian Professor Tammy Proctor of Utah State University. During her research which has among other things yielded the excellent book “Female Intelligence: Women and Espionage in the First World War” (2003, New York University Press), Tammy has stepped behind the curtain to expose the real Mata Hari. Norman Holmes Pearson actually did what a great many professors dream about doing. He was an expert in his field, but he also worked as an Intelligence Officer for the US military during World War II and the Cold War. And he wasn't a desk jockey, but an active spy. Despite a major physical disability, he parachuted into Europe during the height of World War II for espionage reasons. Oh, and he was a literature professor too, by the way. So, as a spy, recruiter, and cultural diplomat, he connected the academy, the State Department, and even the CIA, all at the same time! Episode 568.
Nicknamed "Artemis" and "The Limping Lady" by Nazi Germany, Virginia Hall was, without a doubt, one of the most effective—and certainly the most feared—Allied spies during the Second World War. She helped countless POWs escape and funneled a constant stream of weapons into and information out of Nazi-occupied Europe. Her contribution is almost unfathomable, yet most people don't even know her name. This is her story.Exclusive bonus content:Wondery - Ad-free & ShortHandPatreon - Ad-free & Bonus EpisodesFollow us on social media:YouTubeTikTokInstagramXVisit our website:WebsiteSources available on redhandedpodcast.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode 39 of Canon Fodder continues our Super-Spy series with the Bourne franchise. With arguably the most recognizable action sequences of the last 20 years, a tight story, and superb performances from its cast, the Bourne series is easily one of the best spy and action franchises of all time. It's not, however, without its issues or missteps as we discuss in great detail on this latest episode. But for real…how good are these fight scenes?

Episode 37 of Canon Fodder continues our Super Spy series of episodes. Ed, Matt, and Pat sit down to discuss the Mission Impossible franchise. A surprise hit when it first aired in 1996, the Mission Impossible movie was based off a TV series of the same name and featured Tom Cruise, in what would become a defining role, Jon Voight, Ving Rames, and Jean Reno. The entire franchise consists of 7 (soon to be 8) movies and has redefined what a spy/action movie could be. Enjoy part 1 of our 2-part Mission Impossible series as we continue to break down our fictional super spies.

We cont. sketching this turn-of-the-century secret societal web, picking up w/ the Ancient & Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraim; we talk the Swedenborg Rite & the Freemasonic Jacobite super spy Emmanuel Swedenborg—a fascinating precursor of the history of the Tory Crowley infiltrating the Jacobite elements w/in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn; we talk the Baal Shem of London, Dr. Jacob Falk, & his pupil Cagliostro; William Blake; William Butler Yeats & SL MacGregor Mathers' Jacobite arms trading activities in the HOGD; the Asiatic Brethren's involvement in espionage; Jacob Frank's cousin, the Freemason Moses Dobruschka (founder of the Asiatic Brethren), who was executed following the French Revolution by guillotine; the Third Reich acting as the transition point from secret societal supremacy into the aeon of the intelligence agency, which has superseded the fraternal order in secrecy, influence, & power in the modern era; the raft of crypto-fascists & Nazis in the Rite of Memphis-Misraim; Were the Illuminati Revivals in Germany, France, & Britain somehow a microcosm of int'l relations at the time?... & ...What does their history say about the role that secret societies played in the events leading up to the World Wars (such as Illuminists like Reuss & Crowley getting involved in all manner of spying)?; Koop's insight about how the Sabbatean & Frankist heresies & their offshoots played an integral role in teaching Cabala to these gentile secret societies; the implications of these antisemitic Jewish heresies so fundamentally influencing Z***ism of both the Christian & Jewish varieties; which we have to bring back to Erik Jan Hanussen, of course, in light of his apparent Sabbatean lineage, which inevitably forces us to return to the long & sordid entanglement of secret societies & sexual blackmail; EJH as blueprint & precursor of future Mossad sexual blackmail entrapment schemes a la Epstein; Moses Dobruschka's pseudonyms & the Asiatic Brethren's mandate of bringing Jews & Christians together through mutual sin (transgressive rituals alert!); Jewish assimilation into gentile society; a last assertion from Koopa that the secret religion of the elites is largely gnostic in character; a degree in the Illuminati based off of a gnostic heresy; and finally, the eternal conundrum: how much of this is us ascribing meaning to nonstop secret society syncretism and how much of it is bona fide secret history?; plus a ton more. Hamas surprised Israel with an attack over the weekend. The "terrorist" organization used "super high-tech" gliders, inflatable boats and missiles to attack the Jewish nation. Mike Church has questions about this attack, how could they surprise Israel when they have one of the best if not the premier super spy agency in the world. An agency that knows when a cat tries to infiltrate the country. How could Hamas keep his secret from the vaunted CIA? Mike has the answer and he will also break down why America should not be involved in the conflict in this episode of the New Christendom Daily.

Flux House, a new boutique imprint at Dark Horse that features the writing (and sometimes art) of bestselling cartoonist Matt Kindt, with crime, science fiction, and humor stories, all told and presented in startling and untraditional ways. Kindt has been writing and illustrating espionage and action-fueled comics like BRZRKR (with Keanu Reeves), Apache Delivery Service, BANG! Dept. H, Ether, Fear Case, MIND MGMT, Folklords, Revolver, 3 Story, Super Spy, and Pistolwhip for the last two decades. And it's safe to say that he is having a moment this spring... (More details below.) This year brings: The publication of his new series, Spy Suburb. This 3 part mini-series from Dark Horse Comics and Flex Books launched on January 11. This comic is the funniest thing Kindt has ever written. As Dark Horse Publisher Mike Richardson said, “If you close your eyes and imagine John Wick being dropped into a Wes Anderson film, you'll have a sense of the world of SPY SUPERB.” The release of Mind MGMT: Bootleg in hardcover (February 15, comic shop date; February 28, bookstore date). The latest series in the conspiracy-laden and mind-twisting universe of MIND MGMT, MIND MGMT: BOOTLEG marks the first time the series has been illustrated by an artist other than Kindt, featuring the work of Farel Dalrymple, Jill Thompson, David Rubín, and Matt Lesniewski. In MIND MGMT, a covert government agency of psychic super spies fell into oblivion after one of their top agents went rogue. What looked like the end was only the beginning as a former leader of MIND MGMT explores the darkest parts of the world and recruits a team of forgotten agents to rebuild the organization, bend reality, and go to war with a competing agency. Mister Mammoth is the world's greatest detective. The only mystery he can't seem to solve? How, exactly, he became the world's greatest detective… This spring, Dark Horse will publish the clever existential noir MISTER MAMMOTH, the first-ever original graphic novel from bestselling cartoonist Matt Kindt's all-new imprint, Flux House. Writer Matt Kindt will be joined on MISTER MAMMOTH by internationally acclaimed artist Jean-Denis Pendanx in his U.S. debut. Also in March, BOOM! Studios will publish the final issue of BRZRKR the 12-part comic book series co-created and co-written by movie star Keanu Reeves. The issue is co-written by Reeves and Kindt, and features artist Ron Garney, colorist Bill Crabtree and letterer Clem Robins. In April Flux House and Dark Horse will publish Hairball by Kindt and artist Tyler Jenkins with colors by Hilary Jenkins. In this supernatural thriller from the Eisner-nominated creators of Fear Case and Apache Delivery Service, a dysfunctional family's mounting problems may or may not be caused by an unlikely culprit: the family's cat. Upcoming Flux House publications will take many forms and formats, with each release having a distinct presentation including unique trim-sizes with two publications to be magazine-sized and special print features (like die-cut and fur) and a punch-card dust jacket that reveals a secret message. These publications are personally designed by Kindt to be both books and art objects. Today's episode is brought to you by Reburn. Please, treat yourself and get a copy of this brilliant indie comic. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/comics-in-motion-podcast/message

Watch This Interview Live: Click Here Karim has been at the forefront of attacker counterintelligence and infiltration research for the last decade, developing new ways for security teams to clandestinely monitor hackers and anticipate attacks before they happen. Prior to launching Prevailion, Karim was the founder/CEO of Unveillance, an early pioneer in advanced threat intelligence and the first cloud-based data leak intelligence platform. Karim successfully exited Unveillance in 2012 with an acquisition by Mandiant, and he was then appointed as Mandiant's new director of intelligence. While at Mandiant, Karim played an important role in that company's well-known APT1 report released in 2013, which definitively linked the People's Liberation Army of China to widespread cyber espionage activity against US interests. Mandiant was acquired by FireEye soon after. Over the years, Karim has served as a cybersecurity industry source for many prominent news outlets, including CNN, Fox News, Washington Post, The New York Times, Forbes, CyberScoop and many more. Before devoting his work full-time to defense and intelligence product development, Karim served as founder at Demiurge Consulting, a counterintelligence and countermeasure consultancy whose clients and collaborations included Coca-Cola, TSYS, Baker Botts LLP, McKesson, Palantir, MIT, Berkeley and Stanford Universities. https://amzn.to/2T0s3os The CIA is looking for walking contradictions. Recruiters seek out potential agents who can keep a secret yet pull classified information out of others; who love their country but are willing to leave it behind for dangerous places; who live double lives, but can be trusted with some of the nation's most highly sensitive tasks. Michele Rigby Assad was one of those people. As a CIA agent and a counterterrorism expert, Michele soon found that working undercover was an all-encompassing job. The threats were real; the assignments perilous. Michele spent over a decade in the agency―a woman leading some of the most highly skilled operatives on the planet, secretly serving in some of the most treacherous areas of the Middle East, and at risk as a target for ISIS. But deep inside, Michele wondered: Could she really do this job? Had she misunderstood what she thought was God's calling on her life? Did she have what it would take to survive?
