Tara Davis, of our Mountain Brook, Alabama community, experienced a childhood with some emotional and physical abandonment. As a result, learning independence and self-reliance came easily. But unlearning them? Not easy at all. In the midst of relationship hurts, financial rock-bottoms, and even the murder of her mother, Tara finally found that surrendering in suffering is the true way to peace. Listen and learn that freedom comes when you trust God with your deepest despair and live with dependence on Him. In this episode, you will learn: – When you have the right view of your circumstances, peace and hope are possible. – Self-reliant roads lead to dead ends. Full trust in God leads to freedom. – The Lord is near you, and He hears your prayers. The seventh of track and field action at the Paris Olympics was monumental in so many ways, and another stellar day for Team USA! Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke the world record en route to Olympic gold in the women's 400m hurdles and Tara Davis-Woodhall claimed gold in the long jump. In tonight's edition of Torch Talk, the team breaks down... – Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won her second Olympic gold in the women's 400mH and broke the world record for the sixth time, running 50.37. She is the first woman to ever win back-to-back Olympic golds in this event. Anna Cockrell set a huge PB to upset Femke Bol for silver. Bol settled for bronze in 52.15. – Letsile Tebogo upset Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek to win gold in the men's 200m, running an African record of 19.46. It's the first time the 200m Olympic crown has ever been won by an African man. Bednarek won silver for the second Games in a row and Lyles took home bronze. After the race, Lyles revealed he had tested positive for COVID earlier in the week. – Grant Holloway finally got an Olympic gold to go with his three world titles. He won in 12.99, his 5th time under 13 seconds this year. Daniel Roberts beat out Rasheed Broadbell by .003 seconds to win silver, making it another 1-2 for the U.S. – Tara Davis-Woodhall won the women's long jump competition with a best mark of 7.10m, her first global title outdoors. Malaika Mihambo, the defending champion, finished in silver and Jasmine Moore won bronze. After her triple jump bronze earlier in the meet, Moore becomes only the 2nd woman in history to medal in both horizontal jumps in the same Olympics. – Arshad Nadeem won the men's javelin competition in 92.97m, recording the 2 best throws in Olympic history in the process. It's the first track and field medal ever won by a Pakistani athlete. _________ HOSTS: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on Instagram Mac Fleet | @macfleet on Instagram Mitch Dyer | @metchosketch on Instagram Eric Jenkins | @_ericjenkins on Instagram Aisha Praught Leer | @aishapraughtleer on Instagram Katelyn Hutchison | @_kxnaomi on Instagram We're excited to have a full CITIUS MAG team on the ground in Paris providing daily live shows before and after the action, including interviews with competing athletes, our TORCH TALK recap show, and the return of GOOD MORNING TRACK AND FIELD. CITIUS MAG's Anderson Emerole reports from Glasgow, Scotland with a recap of Day 3 of the World Indoor Championships. – Team USA earned FOUR medals in the 1500m as New Zealand's George Beamish and Ethiopia's Freweyni Hailu came away with victories but Nikki Hiltz, Emily Mackay, Cole Hocker and Hobbs Kessler all came away with medals. – Bryce Hoppel clocked a world-leading 1:44.92 to improve upon his bronze medal from 2022 to win gold in the 800m final. Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma claimed gold in the 800 – just ahead of Team GB's Jemma Reekie. – Tara Davis-Woodhall and Monae Nichols went 1-2 in the women's long jump. – Bahamian Devynne Charlton broke her own 60m hurdles world record to claim her country's first-ever gold medal in the 800m – There was controversy over Noah Lyles being named to the 4x400m relay team and then they came away with a silver medal as Belgium's Alexander Doom kicked down Team USA in the closing meters. Lyles split 45.68, which was the third-fastest of the American team. – Mondo Duplantis claimed yet another gold in the men's pole vault. + more
“Truthfully, this training season, I have been grinding like I've never grind before. I think getting second in Budapest was a blessing in disguise. Last year, I was working hard but wasn't doing the last rep of abs or finishing the last rep of 150s as hard as possible. I was going through the motions. This year, I am taking every rep and making it like my first rep…This year, I am just giving myself a chance. It's almost insane to watch myself do this because I've never been that die-hard of a track athlete. This year, I'm honing in on that. I think that also comes with my maturity in the sport. I'm turning 25 this year. I feel like I'm getting older and figuring out the way of life a little bit.” Tara Davis-Woodhall joins the show just days after winning the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships. She went 7.18m for the world lead, the second longest mark in U.S. women's history and moved her to No. 6 on the all-time world list. Last year, she earned her first global championship medal with a silver at the World Championships in Budapest. She is the U.S. long jump favorite for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, where she'll try to make her second Olympic team. She was sixth at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Among the topics discussed in this episode: – Why she decided to give the 60m hurdles a try and how it benefits her long jump – Her reaction to jumping 7.18m – What are her goals for the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow – What is her training group like under coach Travis Geopfert – Sandi Morris' influence on her in the weight room – How has her mindset changed from how she approached the Tokyo Olympics and future championships – Her reaction to World Athletics' proposal to change the long jump – What event is she looking forward to the most as a fan at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials Make sure you subscribe, download and listen to the show on Spotify and Apple Podcasts so you don't miss out on the latest episode. On our latest podcast episode we are joined by Tara Davis of Unbridled Goddess. A few months ago we saw a post she shared on her instagram sharing the journey of transition and grief with her horse partner and was moved by it. In a world where we don't often know how to honor this journey or walk this path we thought it would be a deeply beautiful experience to have Tara come and share about her journey. This conversation is vulnerable and holds so much beauty in hopes to provide a path of healing for others that are going through something similar. Whether you are grieving or in the process of holding that path of transition for a horse partner or another being or person, we hope this conversation supports that journey for you.

This beautiful conversation with Tara Davis of Unbridled Goddess may require tissues! We covered much territory, from her ever-deepening work with positive reinforcement training and it's roots with her mare Misa, her deep commitment to creating a haven for her horses where all physical needs are met before moving forward and why she believes in a free-choice forage, her work with the Balance through Movement Method and how it's supporting her horses, and the passing of her much beloved stallion, and her powerful and very moving way of honouring him and his legacy. At Unbridled Goddess, Tara immerses herself in the teachings of the Herd, sharing the timeless wisdom of the Horse. Weaving together lessons from science and spirituality, hers is a unique horsemanship approach with the purpose of empowering both horse and human. Tara believes that opening our awareness to the possibilities of a more conscious and consensual relationship with our horses reflects in our interpersonal relationships – as well as our relationships with ourselves. Tara supports the unique connection between each horse and human through her 20+ years of experience in the equine industry, background in dressage, and education in holistic horse care practices. In her training, Tara combines principles of classical dressage with a focus on biomechanics and the inner drive of the horse to achieve harmonious, healthy lifelong partnerships. Her teachings are based heavily in positive reinforcement, with an adherence to LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) protocols, and incorporate the development of mindful awareness in riders. Dear Mama, the most important gift you and your family need this year is Jesus. He will fill your hearts up with His love as you turn your heart to Him. Tara Davis is a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mom, a business owner, a hostess, an aunt, a fashionista, a friend, and one heck of a next-door neighbor.Tara's three super-fantastic daughters and her super-dope husband make for quite the clan on the other side of the fence, and our collective families have compiled some fun memories over the last six or seven years. And even though their plates are pretty dang full, both dad and mom have made the time to come do an episode of the podcast with me, leaving me feeling pretty darn grateful.I've eaten at their Thanksgiving Day table, co-hosted (and attended) school functions with them, camped, had drinks around both their island and their fire pit, and watched our kids do gift exchanges, but having both Tara and Kyle (Episode #20, 6/14/22) do their own episodes of Badass Records Podcast really afforded me the opportunity to hang with them and get to know their stories. And what fun it was learning about Tara's. We talked a little bit about her musical journey (and what a ham and a cornball she's been along the way), and came to the conclusion that Coldplay's Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008) was such a pivotal record for her.All considered, I couldn't be more pleased to be dropping a tFarley (Note: Check her out on the 'Gram!) episode on Thanksgiving Day. As she herself said, it was "meant to be."And you, my friends, are meant to be checking out our conversation, so thanks for being here, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of yours.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio. "We have never liked the way that track did business. They're only focused on business and not the athlete. I feel like we want to change that. It's athlete first and business second. I want to change that and we are changing that." – Tara Davis "I think that we want to do that in two steps. One is being that person and those athletes making the change. It's also trying to do things on our own to make that more accessible to athletes. I think it's easier said than done a lot of times because those resources aren't available to athletes. A lot of times there isn't someone there teaching athletes what to do or how to market themselves and how to use these platforms to grow their brand to be able to connect with brands and support themselves." – Hunter Woodhall U.S. Olympic long jumper Tara Davis and Paralympic sprinter Hunter Woodhall are two of the most fun personalities in the sport. You may remember Davis celebrating making the U.S. Olympic team and rocking a cowboy hat and then celebrating by running into Woodhall's arms. They've chronicled much of their relationship as well as their on and off-the-track story very well on social media. They've done such a great job of marketing themselves that they boast more than 420K subscribers on YouTube and have a combined TikTok following of more than 3 million followers. They sat down with me and my colleague Jasmine Todd to share the news that they've just signed a sponsorship deal with Lululemon as global brand ambassadors. In this episode, we touch on that deal, why they've gone about sponsorships and contracts differently in the track space and the importance of athletes harnessing their own story. Joining the podcast this week is Tara Davis, she is a very close friend. Tara and her husband lead a non-for- profit company called The Haven Marriage, which is all about helping marriages to grow and become stronger. She is also a mother of 3 children. As wives, we face challenges within both ourselves and the marriage. Join our discussion of Abigail, whose account is in 1 Samuel 25. Abigail's marriage to Nabal was far from happy, and her challenges came to a collision with her household's fate to be wiped out due to the ignorance of her husband. What should she do? What would you do? How do you intercede, yet remain in alignment with God. In Mark 8:34, we are called to deny ourselves, accept our crosses, and follow Jesus. Following God transforms us, and sets us apart. This distinction becomes our navigation, our North Star, in the spectrum of horrible to great marriages. Thanks for tuning in! Let's get connected! The World Indoor Championships in Belgrade Serbia got underway at the beginning of March and it didn't disappoint. There were some great performances, some upsets, a few world records, and of course, it wouldn't be Track & Field if there wasn't some "hot topics" to get us all talking! Did Marcell Jacobs really win the Men's 60m? Was that jump in the Long Jump really a foul? What happened to Swoboda? Will Rojas jump 16m? We also heard Mondo Duplantis broke the World Record - but we didn't get to see it.Overall, the 2022 World Indoor Championships was a good one, BUT we all know the real Track & Field season doesn't really start until athlete's head "outside" and start putting down some early season performances on the outdoor track. And, from the looks of things already, this season is about to be one to remember! Fred Kerley has already run under 10s in the 100m, 20.0 in the 200m, and 44.4 in the 400m!! And this was all BEFORE April!! Why is Elaine Thompson-Herah running 400m....in 56.72? And, where is Tara Davis? Its about to be a very busy summer... Get your popcorn ready!
