This week, Chris Chavez and Preet Majithia unpack: Rabat Diamond League Highlights:— Beatrice Chebet drops 8:11.56 in the women's 3000m, the second-fastest time in history and maybe the clean world record. She won by 15+ seconds.— In an absolutely stunning upset, Jonah Koech wins the men's 1500m in 3:31.43, running a 7-second PB in his Diamond League debut. Went from 13th to 1st on the last lap.— Germany's Frederik Ruppert nearly breaks the European steeplechase record with a shocking 8:01.49 behind Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali, who ran a world-leading 8:00.70, who is rounding into form.— Tshepiso Masalela continues his rise, beating Olympic champ Emmanuel Wanyonyi with a world-leading 1:42.70 in the 800m. He is the real deal.— Femke Bol extends her Diamond League win streak with a 52.46 in the 400m hurdles — her fastest-ever season opener. Sound Running Track Fest Highlights (Los Angeles):— Olympic champ Athing Mu returns to racing, placing 2nd in a tactical 1500m (4:10.70), showing signs of progression.— Mexico's Eduardo Herrera steals the show with a 12:58.57 5000m to break Arturo Barrios' outdoor national record, closing in a blistering 57.38.— Jake Wightman, in his first race without his father coaching him, takes the men's 1500m in 3:35.26 — a controlled, confident return to form.— NCAA standout Klaudia Kazimierska clocks 4:03.26 to become the third-fastest collegian ever in the women's 1500m.— Sage Hurta Klecker wins the women's 800m in 1:59.02 and is in a good spot for this point in the season. Mark English wins the men's race in 1:44.75.+ More takeaways and thoughts in the show.Hosts: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on Instagram + Preet Majithia | @preetmajithia on InstagramSUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Olipop is a prebiotic soda that tastes like a throwback to your favorite childhood drinks, but it's loaded with benefits that your body will thank you for. Athing Mu, a professional track & field athlete and 2x Olympic gold medalist in the 800m and 4x400m relay in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, shares her journey of having success in running at an early age, and the transition to becoming a pro athlete. In this episode she takes us through growing up in a Sudanese family in New Jersey and the impact her seven siblings have had on her passion for running. Athing discusses her time as a high school and college athlete and what it was like turning pro, landing Nike as a sponsor and winning a gold medal all before the age of 20. After a disappointing result at Worlds in Budapest - she takes us through how she managed the pressure and disappointment and the steps she took to build a strong support system around her and climb back to the top of the 800m podium at the Diamond League Championship by setting a new World Record. While running is a huge part of Athing's identity she emphasizes the importance of having hobbies and passions outside of sport and surrounding yourself with inspirational teammates that help keep the joy of sport front and center. ““Pressure's always going to be there. It's about how to take that pressure and use it to fire you up for what you need to do and accomplish””. - Athing Mu

“I think the only time I thought about that American record was that last 100m because I was like, ‘You have to beat Elise no matter what. If you guys are going fast enough and you're not in front of her, she's going to get it.' I think I barely outleaned her and ended up getting sixth. The results took forever to load and come up on the screen but when they did it was such a party because everyone set their national record. Seven of us were out there stoked. At this event, everyone is so happy for everyone. It's cool to see the camaraderie. We know that if one of us is going to do well, we're all going to rise to that.” Nikki Hiltz is putting together one of the most impressive outdoor seasons. Last month was an absolute triumph for Nikki, as they clinched the U.S. 1500m title, kicking to victory ahead of the likes of the 800m Olympic champion Athing Mu, U.S. Olympian Cory McGee and the reigning U.S. champion, Sinclaire Johnson. My interview with Nikki went viral after they dedicated the victory to the transgender community. Now, Nikki is gearing up for their second career world championships. Back in 2019, in their very first season as a professional runner, they made it to the 1500m final. Since then, they've continued to progress and currently holding the U.S. titles in the indoor and outdoor 1500m, as well as the road mile. Nikki took their momentum to Monaco, where they clocked a jaw-dropping 4:16.35, shattering Mary Slaney's American record that had stood tall since 1985. It was awesome to see so many national records fall in that race behind Faith Kipyegon's world record. In this conversation, we dive deep into their unforgettable performance at the U.S. Championship, that epic race in Monaco, and what they're looking forward to at the World Championships in Budapest next month.  Nikki is not only a phenomenal athlete but an incredible human being as well. Their passion and dedication shine on and off the track, making them an absolute joy to root for. "You go out there, and you have to trust that you're going to do what you've trained to do. Your body is ready to race. But if your mind isn't? It does not matter." Chloe Abbott is an On Running-sponsored professional runner who specializes in the 400m and trains with renowned coach Bobby Kersee and the Formula Kersee team in L.A. (which includes Sydney McLaughlin, Athing Mu, and Jenna Prandini). Most recently, Chloe took her talents off the track and competed on The Voice! In this conversation, Chloe talks about the benefits of being a singer and a runner, and how her passions work in tandem. She gives all the behind-the-scenes scoop about what it's like being on a reality singing competition — including whether or not she got to keep the clothes, and why it was important to her to have her coach there in the wings. Plus, she shares the lessons she learned from former teammate Allyson Felix, dishes on her big dreams on the track and onstage, and talks about what it's like training with world-class athletes every day.
