La actualización añade soporte para la función Car Key y también permite el ECG a tres países más. Con la llave del coche, los conductores pueden substituir llaves físicas con su iPhone. Como Apple demostró durante la keynote de WWDC 2020, usted puede simplemente sostener su iPhone cerca de la manija de la puerta del coche para abrirla usando tecnología de NFC. Esta función también funciona con el Apple Watch Series 5 en watchOS 6.2.8. watchOS 6.2.8 también trae la aplicación ECG a tres nuevos países: Bahrein, Brasil y Sudáfrica. People who own Apple watches that have cellular radios are reporting issues with battery life. Many are claiming the watch can not make it through a day without recharging at least once. The issues appear even if the cellular radio is turned off. Apple has since released WatchOS 6.1 which may resolve some of the issues. Everyone with an Apple Watch should update to WatchOS 6.1 as soon as possible.

Good news for Apple Watch owners who don't want to clutter up their Watch with unused apps. With the release of the new watchOS 6 operating system later this year, Apple will allow Apple Watch device owners to remove many more of the built-in, first-party apps from their smartwatch — including previously unremovable apps like Alarm, Timer, Stopwatch, Remote, Camera Remote, Radio, and others, as well as health apps like ECG, Breathe, Noise, and Cycle Tracking.

Neben iOS 13 (sowie dem Spin-off watchOS) und macOS Catalina hat Apple sich im Rahmen der WWDC natürlich auch um seine jüngeren Betriebssysteme gekümmert. Während tvOS 13 kaum Änderungen vorweisen kann, gibt es doch einige Neuigkeiten bei watchOS 6.  Apple hat sich in Sachen Features offenbar vom Apple TV verabschiedet, die kleine schwarze Box ist vor allem der Hub für die neuen Services. Dementsprechend gab es zwar ein Video – es war aber ein Trailer für eine neue Serie. tvOS13 – von Multiuser und PS4-Fans Dennoch gibt es ein paar neue Funktionen. So lernen nun alle Services auf dem Apple TV Multiuser-Support, um dem Nutzer auch wirklich Vorschläge nach seinem Geschmack zu machen. Ebenso werden jetzt neben MFi-Controllern der PS4 Controller und der Xbox One Controller mit Bluetooth unterstützt. Eine Änderung, die vor allem für Apple Arcade Sinn ergibt. watchOS 6 – mehr Eigenständigkeit und Watchfaces Die Apple Watch wird eigenständiger. Apps können jetzt auch ohne iPhone-Companion ausgeliefert werden, so wird außerdem ein App Store auf der Uhr möglich. Dazu kommen neue Apps – für Sprachnotizen, Hörbücher und auch einen Taschenrechner. Ebenso neu ist die Möglichkeit, Lautstärke auf der Uhr zu erfassen und die Aufzeichnung von Zyklusdaten bei Frauen. Zusätzlich gibt es auch einige neue Watchfaces – aber keine Öffnung für Drittentwickler.
