Apple releases fix for issue causing the iPhone 15 to run ‘warmer than expected’

Apple has released an iOS 17 system update that includes a fix to prevent the iPhone 15 lineup from becoming uncomfortably hot. According to the release's accompanying patch notes, iOS 17.0.3 “addresses an issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected.” The Cupertino, California, company blamed a software bug and other issues tied to popular apps such as Instagram and Uber for causing its recently released iPhone 15 models to heat up and spark complaints about becoming too hot to handle. “We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected,” Apple said in a short statement provided to The Associated Press after media reports detailed overheating complaints that are peppering online message boards. It's not unusual for new iPhones to get uncomfortably warm during the first few days of use or when they are being restored with backup information stored in the cloud — issues that Apple already flags for users. The devices also can get hot when using apps such as video games and augmented reality technology that require a lot of processing power, but the heating issues with the iPhone 15 models have gone beyond those typical situations. In its acknowledgment, Apple stressed that the trouble isn't related to its new processor or titanium casing that houses the high-end iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple also dismissed speculation that the overheating problem in the new models might be tied to a shift from its proprietary Lightning charging cable to the more widely used USB-C port that allowed it to comply with a mandate issued by European regulators. Welcome to Multiverse News, Your one-stop-shop for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. First impressions for season 2 of Loki are hitting the internet with critics hailing it as some of the best MCU content in recent years, capitalizing off the success of season one and taking the characters and story to new heights. Critics have only been able to review the first four episodes of the series, but there is a great deal of optimism that this series delivers. Reviewers can also confirm that all six episodes are over 40 minutes in length. The details of the WGA contract have been released and we're not going to be able to break it all down here, but here are some of the highlights. We're going to take these a section at a time. - Regarding the number of writers on a television or streaming project; at least three writer-producers must be hired on all series. The number of writers will rise on a sliding scale. A six episode series must have at least three writers. A series with 7-12 episodes must include five writers, and a series with 13 or more episodes calls for six writers. These minimum staffing requirements must be enforced unless a series is billed as a single writer series from the beginning. The contract also includes a minimum time of duration of employment for writer-producers - development rooms must exist for a minimum of 20 weeks. - On the key issue of residuals, a new formula was agreed upon. Content made for streaming that is viewed by 20% or more of subscribers in the first 90 days of release will trigger bonuses for the writers for both series and films. Foreign residuals were also increased. Residuals for previously made shows that become streaming hits were also addressed and agreed to. - Policies were established to govern the use of artificial intelligence, including that AI cannot be used to write or rewrite literary material and all use of it by writers or anyone else must be disclosed. Writers also reserve the right to assert that exploitation of writer's materials to train AI is prohibited. - The contract preserves the policy of ensuring that the vast majority of screenwriters will get a “second step” meaning they can be paid to do at least one rewrite of a draft screenplay. - Writers working in groups will receive pension and health contributions up to the relevant cap as though they were a single writer, rather than splitting the applicable cap. James Gunn took to Threads last week to respond to fan questions about continuity in the new DCU and confirmed that three actors will continue to portray characters that they have played in the past including Xolo Mariduena as Blue Beetle, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and John Cena as Peacemaker. He continued to say Quote “yes, some actors will be playing characters they've played in other stories & some plot points might be consistent with plot points from the dozens of films, shows & animated projects that have come from DC in the past. But nothing is canon until Creature Commandos and Superman Legacy.” Apple has released the first trailer for Argylle, a spy drama from director Matthew Vaughn. The all-star cast includes Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, and Samuel L. Jackson. With a premise that promises to keep you guessing, the film will hit theaters on Feb 2nd, 2024 and will debut on AppleTV+ at a later date. The trailer for Walt Disney Animation's upcoming movie, WISH, became the studio's biggest trailer since the release of promotional spots for Frozen 2 in 2019. The spot earned 66.5 million views across online platforms, according to the company. It surpassed the teaser trailer, which was released in April, by almost 20 million views and has quickly become the most viewed Disney trailer on TikTok to date. WISH will debut in theaters on November 22 and is turning into a spotlight for Disney's centennial celebration of the company.

On the version of Hot off the Wire posted Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. CT: A special grand jury investigating efforts to overturn Georgia's 2020 presidential election results recommended indictments against a much larger group than prosecutors ultimately charged, including one current and two former U.S. senators. The grand jury report released Friday shows the jurors recommended charges against 39 people, compared to the 18 charged along with ex-President Donald Trump. Those not indicted include Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, former U.S. Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue of Georgia and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn. The IRS is launching an effort to crack down on 1,600 millionaires and 75 large business partnerships that owe hundreds of millions of dollars in past due taxes. Apple released a significant security update for iPhones and iPads Thursday to patch newly discovered security vulnerabilities in the devices' system software. The White House Situation Room — a space of great mystique and even higher secrecy — just got a $50 million facelift. The 5,500-square-foot, highly secure complex of conference rooms and offices in the West Wing has undergone a gut renovation that took a year to complete. A growing number of parents across the U.S. are being criminally charged with murder or manslaughter after their children die from exposure to fentanyl. The arrival of indoor plumbing in an Alaska village is a godsend for residents who can now turn on a tap for their drinking water or start a machine to do their laundry. But most of all, they're grateful to say goodbye to the “honey bucket” — the humble indoor pail that provided relief in homes without plumbing. —The Associated Press About this program Host Terry Lipshetz is a senior producer for Lee Enterprises. We are hot on the heels of Apple's "Far Out" Event that took place on the 7th of September at Apple's HQ in Cupertino, California, where they have announced a new range of iPhones, Watches and new AirPod Pros. Today on the show, Steven Scott and Shaun Preece are joined by AbilityNet's Robin Christopherson who is also the host of the Dot to Dot podcast for fans of the Echo from Amazon. Together the trio discusses the new range of iPhone 14s, including the new built-in feature that enables everyone to get access to signals even if they are out of range using new satellite technology. There's also talk about the new Pro iPhones too, with better cameras and a new display feature exclusive to the range. There's also a lot of interest from Steven on the new Apple Watch Ultra, which is intended for those who like to go hiking, climbing or do other major outdoor activities. However, Steven is convinced this is the perfect blind person's Apple Watch due to its new features, like extra and more pronounced buttons, better speakers and greater GPS accuracy. And lastly, there's the AirPods Pro 2. With new features such as a built-in speaker on the case for easier finding when lost and new adaptive transparency which dulls loud sounds, there's lots to offer the disability community at large.  If you have an Apple device, you'll want to install the latest update  Apple has released an emergency update to its suite of platforms - mac, iPad and iPhone - to fix a critical security issue which could allow a hacker into your device through your web browser. Worse - Apple says these vulnerabilities have been used.  It's very technical, but simply, through accessing a website the hacker could effectively get deep access to your device, and control apps as if you were doing the activity.   Known in the industry as a "zero-day" as the exploit is known and in the wild - so they have zero days to fix it. Apple has released patches available for download now, and also an update specifically for the Safari browser.  Just search for "set a timer for 5 minutes" and it automatically starts counting down.   It was removed because it had an "issue" but it's back -- and you may not have ever known it existed! You can also ask Google to "flip a coin" or "roll a dice".. or "do a barrel roll".  LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Apple had made another splash announcement with its new Mac Studio desktop, the first new Mac form factor it has introduced in many years, and simultaneously introducing the new M1 Ultra chip which fuses two M1 Max chips together for the system to recognise as one super-charged chip. Steve and Ben discuss the announcement of the new Mac Studio, and they also discuss Vimeo's recent announcement of increasing charges for high-bandwidth users, the startling first test image from the James Webb Telescope, Microsoft's confounding play to introduce ads in to Windows File Explorer, as well as Ben's latest iPhone camera tests and post-production workflow on the iPad Pro.
