Today we’re have a chance to learn from a gentleman that I have a tremendous amount of respect for, and I’m sure you will as well after you hear his story today. His name is Stef Sifandos and Stef is a perfect example that all of us are absolutely capable of changing and becoming who we truly desire to be, no matter where we currently are in life. We’ve had a few incredible stories of transformations made by some of our previous guests on the show including Wes Chapman, Chris Cavallini, Lori Harder, and Gary John Bishop to name just a few. All of them were living out lives that were based on previous trauma. They were all in a place of anger, frustration, and suffering, and all of them eventually found a way to stop their downward spiral, make a change, and as a result, they are all spectacularly successful by any measure, as a result today. Having had the opportunity to hear about each of their transformations in detail through this show, I’ve noticed that all of them have 3 things in common… 1: A breaking point and a moment of decision where they said, enough is enough. 2: A deliberate and obsessive search for new knowledge, tools, and people that could help facilitate the changes they wished to make. 3: And finally, an unwavering commitment to the process, combined with patience. There was never a timeline or a deadline. The new journey they were on, was the destination, and it’s a journey that continues for each of them to this very day. If you take these three steps, you will completely transform your life, and if you want some help along the way, I’d highly recommend that you reach out to Stef. Comment below and share your thoughts. I'd love to hear from you! Keep bringing your awesome. Mitch Now… here are some show notes from today's episode too! Enjoy!     Chapman's Backstory Wes Chapman's childhood was fraught with trauma. He endured alcohol abuse in the womb and at three months old was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive. At a year old his father abandoned the family, and when he was six years old, his mother left as well. “At a very young age, I was without the community that we're supposed to start with, and the community that had taken me in and adopted me was abusive,” says Chapman. He and his younger siblings were abused physically, sexually, spiritually, and emotionally, and that abuse continued throughout his childhood. It was so bad that by the time he was 16 years old, he had attempted suicide 12 times resulting in documented hospitalizations. “That was my childhood. That was my reality,” says Chapman. However, awful as it was, he would never change it. “That experience and what I went through was key to what I am now doing,” he says. “I look at what happened to me and I look at what I'm now doing, and I look at the ability that I had to endure that, and now I've got this responsibility to share my story and how I actually overcame all of that.” Bringing Change to Others Chapman's work with A Human Project focuses on youth and their families and giving them more opportunities to succeed. He has no typical day, and instead lives in two work spaces. When he's on the road, he's out in the communities having conversations with schools and community leaders, working with psychiatrists, and having face-to-face interaction with the youth he's helping. When he's at home, it's more relaxed work on the business side and making sure that they're rooted, strong, and building sustainable and scalable solutions. “I have to wear these two hats, the on-the-tour Wes and then the founder Wes,” he says. “It's very hectic, whether I'm home or on tour.” It may be hectic, but it's also exciting and rewarding for him. Working on a school-year calendar instead of a Gregorian calendar allows Chapman to see the kids he worked with the previous school year. “To see them completely picking up the pieces and changing their trajectory — some are miraculous changes and some are microscopic,

In our last episode, Wes Chapman shared his horrific story of trauma and how throughout his whole life he had been told that he would never be a normal, successful, happy person because of what he went through. Wes healed and soared above his past. If he believed in his heart what all the doctors and adults told him, he would never be able to become the extraordinary man he is today. It's bad enough when other people are putting us down, but for many of us, our worst enemy is ourselves. We tell ourselves we're not good enough, that we're not capable, or that we're inadequate. This negative self-talk silently kills us every day. In today's short episode I give four questions we can ask ourselves to crush self-sabotaging thoughts.  For the show notes and exclusive links mentioned in this episode CLICK HERE.

He was abandoned by his father and then his mother. He was put into group homes and psych wards where doctors told him that his mental and emotional problems would prevent him from ever living a normal life. Wes Chapman believes that absolute self-honesty is the key to healing and he is pure proof. Wes Chapman is an incredible visionary with goals that most would find daunting to reach in 100 lifetimes.  He is the co-founder of A Human Project – creating a community of empowered youth, co-host of The Human Project Podcast, and soon to be best-selling author of “Runt” – the story of a fearless child. One significant trait needed to be a Game Changer: What you focus on you will become.  If you focus on the negative part of your past, you will get more of that – if you focus on what was good or the positive, that is what you will too will manifest.  Choose to focus on what went right and keep that momentum going.   Thoughts on mentorship: Be wary of mentorship that coddles you.  A mentor’s job is to push you harder than what you would otherwise in order to make you better.  But, at the end of the day you have to be your own hero.  When that mentor goes away, there is a risk that you will lose your identity or direction.  If you are your own hero, anyone outside of you becomes less relevant.   What do you want to be known for, what game will you have changed? Goal one: To empower 25 million youth.  Goal two: To eradicate mental illness.  To change the game you must create a goal that pushes and inspires you to greatness.   How to find and connect with Wes: http://wesleydchapman.com (www.wesleydchapman.com) iTunes: The Human Project Podcast http://www.ahumanproject.com (Ahumanproject.com) Thanks for Listening! Cole Hatter wanted to make a difference in the world so he pursued becoming a firefighter until a terrible accident stole his health and his dreams. In our conversation Cole tells us about his struggle to overcome this serious injury and the loss of his firefighter dreams by starting a highly lucrative real estate investment business with his dad. Thanks to perfect timing, a smoking hot California real estate market and a ton of hard work, he was crushing it to the tune of six figures per month as a 22 year old! But then Cole had to face his second major setback as the global financial crisis of 2008 crushed his real estate business. He was struggling to keep his family business above water and became so stressed out and disenchanted that he had to quit the family business and vanish to Mexico to regroup. It was while in Mexico that he started working for a non-profit building houses for homeless Mexican families. This gave Cole his first taste of working for a purpose. Cole soon had a life changing revelation. While sitting in his car playing guitar, he had a moment of clarity and realized he could have a much more significant impact if he could fund charitable causes versus simply volunteering as a laborer. He soon returned to the U.S. with a renewed sense of purpose that helped him not only turn his real estate business around but also become a award winning professional speaker who has earned several million dollars speaking to organizations all over the world. Now Cole Hatter wants to teach you how to start a purposeful business and get rich in the process. Don't wait to get rich to make a difference but rather make an impact as you get rich. He is now organizing a world class, 3 day event in Las Vegas called Thrive: Make Money Matter. It's happening October 16,17 and 18th at Mandalay Bay. World class speakers including Gary Vaynerchuk, James Altucher, Lewis Howes, Adam Braun, Tucker Max and many more will be teaching us how to make money, protect our money and make our money matter. Here's the most amazing part...100% of the profits from Thrive: Make Money Matter are going to one of our favorite charitable causes, A Human Project. You can learn more about A Human Project and it's founder Wes Chapman in Episodes 9 and 10 of Second Half Comeback: Listen Here Here are a few of the takeaway lessons from this episode: "I don't have a duplicatable formula other than I worked my freakin butt off...when you are working hard, things happen!" The harder I work, the luckier I seem to get. What separates those who have only ambition and those who actually succeed  is only some are willing to grind it out. "You can make excuses or you can make money but you can't make both." "We are all wired to have meaning in our lives. We want meaningful relationships. We want to do meaningful work...we are designed to want to matter!" "People think that making money and making a difference are separate things but they don't have to be." You can build a business around making a difference. "At the end of the day, let's not just make money. Let's make a difference!"   If this episode and Cole Hatter's message resonated with you, I highly recommend that you join me in Las Vegas, October 16,17 and 18th for the Thrive: Make Money Matter event. He is the founder of three successful podcasts and is a master at identifying and fomenting human potential where many have lost hope. When he calls people who want to change the world cocky, crazy, stupid yet confident, one has the sneaking suspicion he's engaging in self deprecation. He has started A Human Project which empowers troubled youth to rise above their situation through respecting them, and it is bound be world altering.Watch the video episode at http://spartanuppodcast.com/027   Lessons:1. Empower troubled kids by giving them responsibility and ownership over their situation.2. To change the world you have to be cocky enough to think you can, crazy enough to know you can, stupid enough to actually try, and confident enough to share the responsibility.3. Just be good and it doesn't matter what you believe in.

He was abandoned by his dad at age one and his mom when he was six, yet he made it through his childhood. By the time he was fifteen, he tried to take his own life twelve times, but still made it to adulthood. Somewhere in his unimaginably traumatic journey, he found HOPE and the willingness to move on. Now in his 30s, he has made it his mission to empower and equip today's at risk youth, for tomorrow's possibilities. The founder of A Human Project, Wes Chapman is our guest. The rallying cry that he shares - If only you believe!  Information on his Biography - Runt: The story of a fearless child Wes' backstory >>> There is an amazing resiliency in kids. Even though, beginning from pretty much day one, he was abused in every way you can imagine - spiritually, physically, sexually and emotionally, he never used it as an excuse or as a way out. Taken in and sheltered by a single woman he affectionately refers to as mom (she would become disabled shortly after taking him in), he learned how to harness the fortitude and spirit within him. A true entrepreneur, he shares a funny story of how he took it upon himself to go door-to-door in his neighborhood to sell fresh cut flowers. The problem was, the flowers were pulled and cut from mom's garden. When nine year-old Wes pulled out a wad of cash that would choke a horse ($500), the laughter-filled response was priceless - "Go cut more flowers." 10 Wes Chapman Pt. 2 on Self Reflection, Keeping it Simple and Building a Self Sustaining Community of Empowered Youth   In part 2 of my conversation with Wes Chapman, founder of A Human Project, We discuss a few more of the lessons he has learned as he transformed himself from victim to hero.   We talk about the importance of daily rituals and he discusses a few of his favorites including the importance of solitude and self reflection.   He emphasizes the benefits of daily simple meditation. The role of writing to stimulate creativity and help you find clarity in your life. The importance of disconnecting. He suggests turning off all technology and simply writing by hand with a pen and paper. This strategy helps you slow down and activates different parts of your brain.   He suggests a super unique, ninja trick for shaking up your writing routine...Try writing with your off hand! If you are right handed, try starting with your right hand but then when you get stuck or are trying to drill down deep switch to your left hand. This helps put you in a child like state because it helps eliminate your need for perfection and motor skill etc. It helps slow you down and process things differently. It can even help you release old childhood traumas!   Wes stresses importance of not over complicating your life and goals. Keep it simple. We mention The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy and The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. He also talks about the importance of celebrating and rewarding yourself for the small steps and successes along the way because it reinforces positive behaviors within your subconscious.   Then Wes tells us all about A Human Project. He begins by redefining what “H.u.m.a.n” means. He breaks it down into 5 categories”   Hope Understanding Making a choice Action Nourishing   The overall goal of the project is to create a self sustaining community of empowered youth.   We discuss how someone would actually go about joining the project if they needed help or knew someone who did. Wes pointed us to Join a Human Project.   Finally, Wes and I discuss how we (the SHC audience) can help at risk youth via A Human Project. He discusses the various ways we can donate, pledge and spread the word.   Call to Action If this episode hits home with you and you deeply resonate with Wes’s story and mission of empowering at risk youth, as I do, please take action and make a donation or a pledge to A Human Project.   This single action will not only help at risk youth but could very well change the direction of your own life! Wes Chapman is the founder of A Human Project at http://www.ahumanproject.com/.   A HUMAN PROJECT is a for-purpose organization with the mission to create a community of empowered youth. Giving youth the tools they need to create long lasting and positive habits. By doing this they give youth the opportunity to break the cycle of hopelessness many of them have endured. They believe that every child is created for a purpose and that each child deserves to experience ultimate joy. Wes’s personal story includes being abandoned at one year old by his father and at six and a half years old by his mother. He tried to commit suicide twelve times before his sixteenth birthday. He was to subjected to terrible physical and sexual abuse throughout his childhood but he survived! He tells his personal story in powerful detail in his founders story on the A Human Project website. I’ve included the audio in the beginning of this podcast episode and you can see the video here Founder's Story Video. I can’t recommend highly enough that you watch this video. It gives incredible insight into his story and the mission of A Human Project. It’s truly a wake up call and the kind of video that will change your life. Wes has also been an entrepreneur since he was 8 ½. His very first business made over $500 a day. He has crushed it on the world of business and also had some epic failures. He recently realized that everything that has happened in his life has happened for a reason and has brought him to this moment and his true purpose which is to empower at risk youth through A Human Project. In Part 1 of our conversation we talk about: The difficulties and advantages of making a “Second Half Comeback” The importance of understanding that “Tomorrow is the new frontier. Change your perspective today to make tomorrow the best it can possible be!” How he started his entrepreneurial career out of necessity and as a survival mechanism. It didn’t become purpose drive until he started listening to the universe and recognizing the patterns that were being presented to him. We discuss how “The little things that you do in your life really do change the outcome of your tomorrow.” Wes tells the story of how the entire A Human Project started because of a “Selfie” he took for a Gary Vaynerchuck fan. Within 2 months of this simple decision, Wes was standing in front of a group of 700 youth and empowering them to change their lives. We discuss the importance of this lesson. How recognizing the repeated messages from the universe and saying yes to the opportunities that arise is an absolute key to changing your life and finding your purpose. How reaching out and meeting his biological father at age 26 started him on a journey to find clarity in his life. It led to him starting his personal blog and writing about his life. This helped him to start getting comfortable with himself and who he is. He sums up this experience by saying “the first step to finding clarity in your life is being honest with yourself”. He gives some amazing tips on how to start the process of gaining clarity and purpose in your life. Simplify your questions “You only have two options in life. You can be a Victim or Hero. That’s it!” “Switching your mentality from victim to Hero will speed your life up in every single aspect!” “Positivity does not breed negativity but negativity can truly breed positivity”. All the negative things that have happened to you in your life can be transformed into positive’s if used with intent and purpose.   In the next episode of Second Half Comeback, I will bring you part 2 of my conversation with Wes Chapman. We will discuss more of the valuable lessons he has learned through his amazing journey and discuss A Human Project in detail. Wes will explain the mission and philosophy behind the project and tell us how we can help. As I mentioned before, Please take the time to check out A Human Project and Wes’s founder’s story. Joining us today is Wes Chapman, founder of A Human Project, an organization with a mission to build a community to empower and give a voice to abused and neglected youth.   Wes’s mission and passion stems from his own dark story as a child, and the stories of his siblings and not being able to act and protect them.   Often children in these situations end up on the wrong path in life, end up acting out, and so on, which only gets them labeled as problem children in society’s eyes.     When really, they just want to be loved.   For Wes, starting this mission is him fulfilling his highest purpose.   Which begs the question…   How do you determine what your purpose is?   Wes’s first tip is just be yourself, and don’t try to be something you’re not.  It’s often uncomfortable, insincere, and likely out of alignment with your core “you”.   To sum it up, “be true to yourself”, Wes says.   To take that a step further or to answer the question of where you go from there, you can challenge yourself and create a positive focus by working to be the best possible version of you.   Regardless of your situation, you always have a choice.   And, for Wes, and really all of us, that choice is simple.  In each situation and each area of our lives, we can either choose to be a victim, or be a hero.   When it comes to children, the starting point is often giving them hope.  Once they have hope, it opens the door to believe in themselves and start to make positive change.   From there we shift gears into how Wes plans to market the project.  This step would often paralyze a lot of people and prevent them from taking action in the first place.   But, getting out there, moving forward, and taking that action is going to trump “planning” all day, if that’s what it takes to move you past the planning stage.   Next is networking, and like many who have been around the block, Wes knows that when it comes to networking the best way to make contacts and open doors is to find a way to open a door for someone else first, by bringing value.   Bringing it all together, when your values, passion, story, and business can align, you can create an extremely motivating and fulfilling mission for yourself and you don’t ever have to “work” another day in your life.   We hope this episode inspired you.  If so, please write us a review in iTunes telling us what you love about Life on Fire TV and leave us a 5-star rating.   Thank you for subscribing to our podcast in iTunes!  You can move mountains.
