Guests: Gabe Boyd and Mike Thornberry Chapter 7 Stand Up to the Bullies If you want to change the world…don't back down from the sharks. Chapter 8 Rise to the Occasion If you want to change the world…be your very best in the darkest moments. No matter how dark it gets, you must complete the mission. Mission above the man - Jim Eliot - he is no fool to give up that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose. Chapter 9 Give People Hope If you want to change the world…start singing when you're up to your neck in mud. The power of one person to unite the group, the power of one person to inspire those around him, to give them hope. Hope is the most powerful force in the universe. Chapter 10 Never, Ever Quit! If you want to change the world…don't ever, ever ring the bell. If you fill your days with pity, sorrowful for the way you have been treated, bemoaning your lot in life, blaming your circumstances on someone or something else, then life will be long and hard. If, on the other hand, you refuse to give up on your dreams, stand tall and strong against the odds–then life will be what you make of it–and you can make it great. Never, ever, ring the bell! Guests: Gabe Boyd and Mike Thornberry Chapter 4 Life's Not Fair - Drive On! If you want to change the world…get over being a sugar cookie and keep moving forward… Dan - we live in a fallen world, sin has corrupted everything, we should expect unfairness… Jesus was the only perfect person - and look how the world treated him - unfairly…we should expect the same… Those that strived to be the very best expected that they would be rewarded for their stellar performance. Chapter 5 Failure Can Make You Stronger If you want to change the world…don't be afraid of The Circus The Circus, which had started as a punishment for failure, was making us stronger, faster, and more confident in the water. Marc and I were determined not to allow The Circus to beat us. You will pay for your failures. But, if you persevere, if you let those failures teach you and strengthen you, then you will be prepared to handle life's toughest moments. I realized that the past failures had strengthened me, taught me that no one is immune from mistakes. Chapter 6 You Must Dare Greatly If you want to change the world…slide down the obstacle headfirst. Those who live in fear of failure, or hardship, or embarrassment will never achieve their potential. Making my bed correctly was not going to be an opportunity for praise. It was expected of me. Don't look for the praise of men…Col. 3:23 Chapter 2 You Can't Go It Alone If you want to change the world…find someone to help you paddle. Seven men, all working together The small rubber boat made us realize that no man could make it through training alone. Now, lying in bed, all I felt was self-pity…but, my wife Georgeann, reminded me of who I was Tough love Good spouse - calling you up to all that God has for you… Chapter 3 Only the Size of Your Heart Matters Instructor challenged a guy - “prove me wrong” (motivation) T4M guys - just a reminder that Training4Manhood is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) ministry and you can make donations either via Zelle (info@training4manhood.com) or by visiting the Training4Manhood website. There are not a lot of women in the water treatment industry, but those who work in the industry found the challenges and opportunities it brings valuable. My guest in today's episode is a woman in water treatment who first found success in Operations but now has discovered her purpose in Sales Management: Tammy Faber. Tammy Faber has been working in the water treatment industry for 13 years. She started her career in the paper industry 20 years ago as a Senior Buyer for power and utilities. She then worked for 12 years at Fort Bend Services, Inc. in Texas as the Administrative Services Manager and then Vice President of Operations in 2015. Tammy joined HOH Water Technology, Inc. and moved from Texas to Illinois in 2021. Switching from being the Vice President of Operations at her previous company, Tammy took on the challenge of being the Sales Manager at HOH. A role she never thought would be a fit for her, had it not for Reid Hutchison. At the age of 40, Tammy completed her bachelor's and master's of Business Administration at LeTourneau University. Outside of water treatment, Tammy loves to volunteer. She was named one of the “Top 30 Influential Women in Houston” in 2018 for her leadership and contributions to the community. She also volunteered for over 11 years with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and served as the Vice-Chairman at the Houston Metro Go Texan Committee and the School Art Auction Committee. Are you just coming in, running your pinks and blues, writing a report, telling them what to do in your report, talking to no one, emailing the report, and leaving? Does your customer or facility find value in this? What other ways can you provide value? What problems can you solve? What control can you improve? What safety hazards can you minimize or eliminate? What value are you providing today to warrant working with you tomorrow? Take this week to think about your routine and what value you currently provide and what value you could provide in the future. Quotes: “Education is something I'm passionate about.
