The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the central event in the Christian faith. It is not some cleverly developed myth. It is an historical fact. Join with us as we celebrate Resurrection Sunday!
Fourth Sunday in Advent - Pastor Jeff Ruby lead this service with his sermon 'Faith Without Wrappings' based on Luke 12:8-14
Richard and Linda talk about a different kind of gifts on this episode--spiritual gifts in the form of new insights and eternal truths that they believe were part of a "Restoration" that occurred to start the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A God-initiated restoration is very different than a man-originated reformation and the Eyres discuss that difference today. (Corresponds to a current magazine cover, just google "Meridian Magazine")

On the day that Jesus walked into Jerusalem, there was a huge crowd. Some were there because it was Passover, the time when the Jewish people always gathered every year. Some were there because they followed Jesus wherever He went. Some were there because they had heard about the miracles He had done and were hoping He would do something for them or even kick the Romans out and re-establish their kingdom. A huge crowd with all kinds of reasons for being there… like the crowds that gather in churches every Sunday around the globe. And all Jesus wanted was to cut through all their false expectations so that He could bring them into the amazing miracle that God had for them, that none of them had imagined.
Feeling like a moldy lemon? Maybe you're just an onion. If you've escaped the horror of a destructive relationship, but you still feel numb, anxious, depressed, and like a steaming hot mess...it's easy to believe that “being jacked up” is the new normal. And your whole identity. It's not. In fact, what you're searching for is closer than you can believe:You're still a whole person. Your true self isn't lost. Your body is actually trying to help you heal. The best of you is still there. But some of these things are covered by layers. Like an onion. Coatings of trauma. Blankets of pain. Wrappings of core wounds. Cocooned lies. Want to know how to find that sweet little onion core again? Sara Richmond and I explore this very question.Listen as we discuss the following revelations and more: How your story (and information about abuse) can be a distraction from real healing Why “brokenness” is a crappy description for survivors (and a better word that she's claimed) Why our bodies often "act" broken (HINT: Whatever you resist, persists) What embracing her emotional stress through somatic therapy revealed to Sara (it was sad but extremely powerful) Examples of triggers that she and I peeled back and reset The word that Natalie couldn't remember (sadly, it wasn't “onion”) Read or download the transcript hereIf you are a Christian woman who thinks you may be in an emotionally destructive marriage, learn more at https://flyingfreenow.comI'll send you (free!) the first chapter of my book, Is It Me? Making Sense of Your Confusing Marriage, which has an assessment to help you figure out if your relationship is abusive or not. All you have to do is hop on my mailing list at https://flyingfreesisterhood.com/free-downloadYou can also find out about our online education and support program for women of faith at https://joinflyingfree.comAnd finally, if you are a divorced Christian woman who wants to take back her life and get healthy, lose weight, have amazing relationships, get things done, build a business or career, and even find a good man (if you want one) - check out Flying Higher at https://joinflyinghigher.com

On today's show, the Eyres tell the story of their long friendship with Rhodes Boyson, the British Member of Parliament, who had some very deep questions about Richard and Linda's faith. The Eyres wrote several long letters to Boyson, and later put those letters into a book called "The Wrappings and the Gifts" which was an attempt to explain why faith and a belief in a life before and a life after can have such a profoundly positive impact on the kind of marriage partners and parents we become.

Long ago, most department stores offered free gift wrapping. However, today such services can be pricey. In America alone, $3.2 billion a year was spent. Wouldn't it be nice if we could re-use the wrappings? God did.... Luke 2.12, John 1.1, Luke, 23.51-53. Transcript, Show Notes & Journal are available at https://scriptureyoucanrelateto.com/
