You've probably heard this parenting advice everywhere lately: validate your child's feelings. And honestly? Emotional validation does matter. Kids want to feel heard, understood, and emotionally safe with us. But what happens when you're validating constantly and still walking away from interactions feeling hurt, dismissed, or emotionally exhausted? In this episode, JoAnn breaks down what she calls “the validation trap”—the moment when supporting your child's emotions starts coming at the expense of your own emotional well-being. If you've ever stayed quiet after a hurtful comment because you didn't want to escalate things, convinced yourself you were “too sensitive,” or struggled to balance emotional validation with healthy boundaries, this conversation will help. In This Episode, We Talk About: What emotional validation actually is and what it isn't Why validating feelings does not mean accepting disrespectful behavior The hidden “validation trap” many overwhelmed moms fall into How delayed emotional processing is completely normal Why people-pleasing makes boundary-setting feel so uncomfortable The difference between supporting emotions and silencing yourself A simple framework for addressing repeated hurtful behavior calmly How to teach emotional intelligence and self-regulation without over-functioning for your child Parenting strategies that strengthen connection and boundaries Resources Mentioned: Crucial Conversations No Guilt Mom Inner Circle Why This Episode Matters A lot of parenting conversations focus on helping kids regulate emotions, but moms need support, too. This episode is a reminder that your feelings matter inside your family relationships. You are allowed to validate your child's emotions and speak up when behavior hurts you. Those two things can exist together. Because raising emotionally intelligent kids doesn't mean becoming emotionally invisible yourself. Learn more about your ad choices. What do you do when everything in the life you knew changes unexpectedly? In this episode of Message in the Middle, I'm joined by Jo Rye, founder of Clarity & Courage, executive coach, and author, who shares what it really looked like to rebuild her life after surviving a brain hemorrhage just days after losing her grandmother. This isn't a story about reinvention. It's about starting from a place you never expected to be.  Not knowing who you are anymore, and figuring it out slowly, in real time. After years of working inside global organizations helping others grow and lead with clarity, Jo suddenly found herself in a position where the only way forward was to focus on the smallest possible steps; Sometimes that meant just getting through the day. During her recovery, she began writing a novel inspired by a story passed down from her grandmother. What started as a small, daily practice became something much more, a way to stay connected, to process, and to hold onto something steady when everything else felt uncertain. If you've ever felt like the life you knew no longer fits, or you're navigating a season where things feel unfamiliar or unclear, this episode offers an honest, grounded perspective on what it means to move forward. In This Episode, We Talk About: What it feels like when life changes suddenly and unexpectedly  Rebuilding your identity after illness, loss, or major disruption  Why small steps matter more than big plans during recovery  Letting go of the version of yourself you once relied on  How to create a sense of forward movement when everything feels uncertain  The role of storytelling and creativity in healing  Finding clarity and courage without forcing changeYou don't have to have it all figured out to move forward. Sometimes the next step is small, sometimes it's unclear, but even in the middle of uncertainty, there is a way through, one choice, one moment at a time.Connect with Jo: FacebookInstagram Website Connect with Marianne:Website:  Message In The Middle with MarianneMessage In the Middle Facebook Group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/422430469323847/YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/@MessageInTheMiddle/playlistsLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marianne-demello-smith-678b9966Email:  Contact | Message In The Middle with MarianneSubscribe to Message In the Middle:Apple PodcastsSpotifyYouTubeLeave Us a Review: If you enjoyed today's episode, please leave a review and share your favorite takeaway. This week on the Manifestation & Money Podcast, I sit down with Laura Martinez — The Neuro Shamonic Healer — who blends neuroscience, shamanism, and clinical mental health into one deeply transformative healing approach. Laura shares her powerful origin story that began with a spontaneous trip to Costa Rica at 19 years old… and how that moment sparked a lifelong journey into intuitive healing and ancestral wisdom. This conversation goes beyond manifesting "things." We dive into manifesting alignment. Because when you're out of alignment, no strategy will feel right. But when you are aligned? Things flow. In This Episode, We Talk About: ✨ What shamanism really is (and what it's not) ✨ How intuition is an inner knowing — not a mental calculation ✨ Parallel timelines and the idea that your highest self already exists ✨ Nervous system regulation as the foundation of manifestation ✨ Why quiet time in nature is essential for alignment ✨ Trauma, disconnection from the body, and healing at the root ✨ How to follow the moments of joy that point you toward your purpose ✨ Creating a life you love by listening to your inner "glee" Laura beautifully explains that alignment begins in the body — not the mind. If you've been feeling stuck, blocked, or disconnected from your intuition, this episode will feel like a deep exhale. A Powerful Reminder from This Episode: You already have everything you need to heal. Your breath. Nature. Your ancestry. Your intuition. What if your stepchild isn't rejecting you… but protecting someone else? In this episode, I'm sitting down with the incredible Barb Goldberg: coach, author, podcaster, and stepmom to talk about one of the most misunderstood (and painful) dynamics in blended families: the loyalty bind. If you've ever felt hurt, dismissed, or completely invisible as a stepmom, this conversation is for you. Because when kids feel torn between mom and stepmom, it can show up as distance, attitude, silence, or even outright rejection - and it's easy to take that personally. But often? It's not about you. In This Episode, We Talk About: What the loyalty bind in blended families actually is - and how it quietly shapes your relationship with your stepkids Why the teenage brain reacts from emotion and survival (and why kids often don't even remember the hurtful things they say) How stepmoms get stuck in emotional trigger loops - and how to calm your nervous system and break the cycle Why stepmotherhood is a long game - and how kids often grow up, gain perspective, and sometimes even come back around We also talk honestly about the things stepmoms don't always say out loud - the crying in closets, the normalization of disrespect, and the cultural pressure to "just love them like your own." This episode offers compassion for kids navigating divorce and blended family dynamics - but it also offers deep validation for stepmoms who are carrying emotional burnout in silence. If heaven is our ultimate hope, why does today still matter so much?   In this episode, Bryson reflects on how walking closely with loss has reshaped the way she sees everyday life. After losing her sister Beth, eternity stopped feeling like a distant concept and began informing how she lives, chooses, suffers, and hopes—right here and now.   This conversation begins with a sacred reflection from Beth's final weeks and explores what it means to live with an eternal mindset not just at the end of life, but in the middle of it. Through Scripture, personal stories, and gentle invitation, Bryson shares how a daily "yes" to God—on both couch days and green pasture days—becomes the foundation for a life anchored in eternity.   Living with eternity in view doesn't pull us out of this life; it gives meaning to every moment of it. From stewarding hardship well, to preparing our hearts with truth for hard days, to seeing the ordinary as holy, this episode invites listeners to lift their eyes and trust the God who is writing a far bigger story than the moment they're in.   If you're carrying grief, walking through a hard season, or quietly asking how to keep going when forever feels far away, this episode is for you. In This Episode, We Talk About: What it actually means to live with an eternal mindset Why today still matters if heaven is our ultimate hope The power of a daily "yes" to God—especially on hard days How suffering shifts the question from "How do I escape this?" to "How do I steward this well?" Why we are never anonymous in seasons of hardship Preparing our minds with worship and Scripture before the hardest moments come How grief and hope can coexist without canceling each other out Seeing ordinary moments as part of a much bigger redemption story Scripture Referenced: 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 Colossians 3:1–4 Psalm 139:16 Hebrews 12:1–2 Revelation 21:3–5 A Gentle Invitation Ask the Lord this week: "Help me see what is unseen."   Let eternity shape how you live today—how you love, how you endure, and how you say yes in every season.   LINKS FOR TODAY'S EPISODE: Listening Guide: https://www.canva.com/design/DAHEhZErOUM/WeK3ZKxk2lQgvwC5e6jaWw/view?utm_content=DAHEhZErOUM&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=hb4ef092b27 Full Episode Study Guide: https://www.canva.com/design/DAHEhgW6c4k/Dtsnl58pTyIZTSmGYCChmA/view?utm_content=DAHEhgW6c4k&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=h8b732fd175 7 Day Companion Scripture Guide: https://www.canva.com/design/DAHEloIqzAg/VGhtpME61hwpoY2JeEpVig/view?utm_content=DAHEloIqzAg&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=hf0813555c8 Small Group Discussion Guide: https://www.canva.com/design/DAHEll3eyBo/jIiOMzj996rXSD1k7ukKgA/view?utm_content=DAHEll3eyBo&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=hb66142b743

One of the most impactful books I've ever read is Gay Hendricks' The Big Leap. I find it helpful to revisit it in mid-January because it reminds me of this concept he discovered called “The Upper Limiting Problem.” In short, we each have a limit on how much abundance, success, and love we think we deserve. Once we start to get close to those thresholds, we self-sabotage and create chaos to stay within the boundaries we're familiar with.  The key to tapping into your highest potential is to start observing where you hold yourself back. In this episode, I share four of my upper limits and how I'm actively working to break through them.  IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: What “upper limiting” is  Signs you're on the verge of becoming a better version of yourself How I break out of the procrastination cycle  Cultivating self-validation and confidence  The fastest way to get outside of yourself  RESOURCES The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks  Sign up for The Spritz newsletter at litepink.com! While wrapping up my last call with my annual mastermind group, I always like challenging them to share one or two specific people that have made a difference in each individual's life. Even though it's a business mastermind, nine out of ten people will share gratitude for group members who have supported them. They've helped these members through challenges like grief, overcoming self-doubt, and so much more.  In this episode, I highlight a few questions to help guide your planning for next year, help ensure you're practicing responsible entrepreneurship, and not prioritizing profit over what really matters.    IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: What it looks like to put your happiness and purpose at the core of your business  My perspective on what you're really investing in when you sign up for a mastermind  The direct correlation between your support network and ability to succeed  A tracker tool that I use to measure what matters    RESOURCES Apply now for the 2023 Elite Mastermind: chrisharder.me/mastermind  Text DAILY to 310-421-0416 to get daily Money Mantras or Business Perspective messages to boost your day.     CONNECT WITH CHRIS Follow Me: @chriswharder Visit My Website: https://chrisharder.me

How To Get More Done Faster

One of the most effective life hacks that I've discovered is this thing called Parkinson's Law, which says, “work expands to fill the time available for its completion.” In other words, if you give yourself a month to do something, you'll take every single day of that month to get it done. But, if you give yourself a week to do that same task, guess what? It will only take you seven days to finish it.  I'm really in this season of kicking myself into high gear and maximizing every minute that I schedule in for work. Where can you compress your time and get more done on a faster timeline?  IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: What might be holding you back from getting what you want out into the world How I'm challenging myself with the timeline of my book right now  Looking at where you set cushy, comfortable deadlines for yourself  Why it's so important to understand and honor what season of life you're in  RESOURCES Sign up for The Spritz newsletter at litepink.com! One of the most common questions that I get in my DMs is how to get out of a rut when you're feeling uninspired and burned out. My biggest piece of advice around that is to be intentional about seeking out inspiration and don't be afraid to try out a different lane.  I always tune into music, watch a great comedian, or move my body in a way that gets me out of my same old routine.
