Von Daily Good News.
Hochkomisch und tieftraurig: Yade Yasemin Önders Roman „Anti Müller“ ist ein beeindruckender Text über Mutterschaft, Einsamkeit und die Bedingungen von Literatur.
Erica Stanford: NCEA, immigration and "anti-Māori" criticism Minister for education and immigration Erica Stanford joins Jack Tame to discuss the new scheme replacing NCEA, facing down public criticism over removing school boards' Treaty of Waitangi obligations, and why the National Party is toughening its rhetoric on immigration. She also pushed back on education ministry plans to remove ESOL funding for year 0 and year 1 students in the second half of this year, saying the ministry had “got ahead of itself” and that wouldn't now be happening. Stanford also touched on the government's pause in rolling out a social media ban for under-16s, saying there was a legislative programme still under way, and that the National Party was still committed to moving something on age verification. Where's the policy? Chris Hipkins on Labour's election plans Less than six months out from a general election, New Zealand's highest-polling party has only revealed a handful of policies. On big issues like the cost of living, fuel security and immigration, Chris Hipkins says the Labour Party will be sharing their vision for the country after Budget Day. Chris Hipkins joins Jack Tame for his first appearance of 2026 to discuss his flagship education policy of the previous government, Fees Free - now set to be cancelled, with a price tag to date of $2 billion. He also considers whether Labour in New Zealand can take any lessons from Sir Keir Starmer's turmoil in the UK. “Oligopoly”: How a lack of competition hurts public pockets OECD economist David Haugh joins Q+A with Jack Tame to talk about a major new report detailing the weak state of competition in the New Zealand economy, and why ordinary New Zealanders are being economically hurt by the structure of key markets. His report also critiqued the government's LNG plans, and he responds to an assertion from PM Chris Luxon that those sections of the report are “a load of rubbish”. The “global Goliath” and risk of worldwide societal collapse Cambridge researcher of existential risks Luke Kemp talks to Q+A about the threats facing the continued survival of humanity, why wealth inequality is such a major risk factor, and how in such a globalised world, a collapse would be much more difficult to survive than previous societal collapses. Kemp's book is Goliath's Curse: The History and Future of Societal Collapse, and he's been in New Zealand as part of the Auckland Writers Festival. Join Jack Tame and the Q+A team and find the answers to the questions that matter. Made with the support of NZ on Air.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Is New Zealand being sold a lazy political narrative about Māori and this government? We reckon so. As Waitangi approaches, Duncan takes aim at the claim that National is anti-Māori and starts pulling apart the record. From treaty settlements and co-governance to iwi wealth, education reform and charter schools, the evidence doesn't match the rhetoric. Duncan lays out why the media keeps repeating a story that simply doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Political commentator Ani O'Brien joins the conversation to unpack activism, Party Māori, and why narrative has replaced outcomes in so much of our political debate. They also dig into education, why Māori achievement is finally lifting, and why real progress doesn't always look the way activists want it to. This is a straight-up challenge to the talking points, the media comfort zone, and the politics of outrage. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this episode of the Longevity & Aging Series, Dr. Amparo Santamaria from the Reproductive Hematology Unit at the IVIRMA Alicante Clinic in Spain joins Dr. Evgeniy Galimov to discuss her #research paper #published in Volume 17, Issue 6 of Aging-US, titled “Enhancing oocyte activation in women with ovarian failure: clinical outcomes of the Stem Cell Regenera study using G-CSF mobilization of peripheral blood stem cells and intraovarian injection of stem cell factor-enriched platelet rich plasma in real-world-practice.” DOI - https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.206274 Corresponding author - Amparo Santamaria - Amparo.santamaria@ivirma.com Video interview - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zlezd0x_EJQ Longevity & Aging Series - www.aging-us.com/longevity Abstract The study assesses the effectiveness and safety of the Stem Cell Regenera Treatment for oocyte activation in women with ovarian failure, including conditions such as Poor Ovarian Response (POR), Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR), and Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). This retrospective observational study was conducted from January 2023 to December 2024 at the IVIRMA Alicante Clinics in Spain. Women diagnosed with ovarian failure participated in the study, which involved mobilizing Hematopoietic Stem Cells from bone marrow into peripheral blood using granulocyte colony- stimulating factor (G-CSF). This was followed by an intraovarian injection of Stem Cell Factor- enriched Platelet Rich Plasma (SCFE-PRP). The primary outcome measures were the rate of oocyte activation, leukocytes and stem cell count, and pregnancy rates. Oocyte activation was defined as an increase in total Antral Follicle Count of three or more follicles after treatment and/or at least a 20% rise in Anti-Müllerian Hormone levels. Safety was assessed based on adverse effects. Pregnancy rates were evaluated for both spontaneous gestation and following in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. A total of 145 women participated: the overall activation rate was 68.28%, with 7.07% achieving spontaneous gestation and 14.14% achieving pregnancy following IVF. Mobilization of CD34+ cells was successful in all participants, with an average collection of 32.96 CD34+ cells/μl. No severe adverse effects were observed. The study concluded that the Stem Cell Regenera Treatment is effective and safe for oocyte activation in women with ovarian failure in real-world practice.
Struggling to conceive and feeling like the clock is ticking louder every day?In this episode, I sit down with Jessica Preston, a biochemist-turned-physician assistant and founder of Denovo Fertility, who's flipping the script on traditional fertility care by helping couples dramatically boost their chances of conceiving, without jumping straight to IVF.Jessica brings 20 years of OB/GYN experience, a deep bench in functional medicine, and a wildly refreshing honesty about what fertility clinics often ignore. We talk about everything from the real story behind A.M.H. (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) levels to how stress can affect your fertility more than age, plus why miscarriage is more common than most people realize. If you've ever wondered whether IVF is your only path… or why your body just isn't responding the way you thought it would… or how the hell someone can get pregnant naturally after years of unexplained infertility, this one will blow your mind."Miscarriage and infertility rank higher on a stress scale for women than the loss of a parent or a divorce." ~ Jessica PrestonAbout Jessica Preston, PA-CJessica Preston spent nearly 20 years in obstetrics and gynecology before she discovered the power of functional medicine to heal infertility naturally. As the founder of Denovo Fertility, she leads a team of eight specialized coaches who help couples optimize egg and sperm health through nutrition, stress management, biofeedback, and relationship healing. Jessica is also the author of a book and host of a TV program called The New Health. For many, navigating a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming. While mainstream treatments like chemotherapy remain foundational, emerging scientific research offers exciting new ways to support overall health and wellness during treatment. This week, I'm joined by Ian Mitchell, a research scientist and pharmaceutical consultant. We explore groundbreaking insights into Carbon 60 (C60), a compound with unique properties, and how it may complement lifestyle strategies like ketosis for those looking to support their health during cancer treatment. In this episode, you'll discover: What Is Carbon 60 (C60): C60 is a carbon-based molecule known for its antioxidant properties. When paired with lipids, it may interact with cellular membranes in mitochondria to reduce oxidative stress and promote energy production at the cellular level. "All of your inflammatory markers go down simultaneously while your energy levels are going up," says Mitchell. "And so you feel very robust." The Importance of Ketosis: A ketogenic diet, which emphasizes low-carbohydrate, high-fat nutrition, has been studied for its potential to support metabolic health. Mitchell shares how this dietary approach may create an environment that challenges cancer cell growth while supporting healthy DNA integrity. How C60 Fits into a Comprehensive Wellness Plan: C60's unique properties allow it to promote healthy cell function while reducing oxidative stress. Mitchell explains how incorporating C60 into a broader health regimen, alongside a supportive diet, may help optimize cellular health and resilience. Chemotherapy Can Be Effective—to an Extent: While chemotherapy plays a crucial role in many treatment plans, Mitchell and I discuss why personalized approaches to wellness and treatment may provide better outcomes. "You have this type of cancer, but nobody is checking to see if in your very specific case, does this chemotherapy work or not?" shares Dr. Myers. 07:24 Carbon 60 and Its Biological Impact 15:14 Cancer Treatment Innovations 27:52 Challenges in the Pharmaceutical Industry 36:59 Diving into Cancer Research 39:09 Exploring Metabolic Approaches to Cancer Treatment 40:27 Personal Experiences with Medical Controversies 41:43 The Role of Ketogenic Diets and Supplements in Cancer Treatments 42:59 Overcoming Medical Challenges with Alternative Therapies 48:02 Success Stories and Setbacks in Cancer Treatment 56:40 Preventative Measures and Long-Term Health Strategies Connect with Dr. Myers: Website: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ Newsletter: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ec/guide-to-leaky-gut Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AmyMyersMD Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amymyersmd/ Connect with Ian Mitchell: Website: https://wizardsciences.com/ Email: support@wizardsciences.com

She'salso the founder and CEO of Poplin, an innovative pre-pregnancy wellnesscompany devoted to helping individuals optimise their fertility.Key Takeaways:AMH levels are not indicative of natural fertility; rather, they reflect ovarian reserve in the context of assisted reproductive technology cycles.Your body's biological age, influenced by lifestyle and health, can differ significantly from chronological age, impacting reproductive wellness.Hormonal balance is crucial, and factors like chronic stress and sleep quality can affect reproductive hormones Preconception health is essential for both partners, especially during the 90 days it takes for eggs and sperm to mature. Adopting a fertility-friendly lifestyle by reducing exposure to endocrine disruptors and improving diet can enhance egg and sperm quality, regardless of age.
5 Key Hormones Involved in Female Fertility:Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)Role: Produced by the pituitary gland, FSH is essential for the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles, which contain your eggs.Optimal Levels for a 35-Year-Old Woman: Measured on day 3 of your menstrual cycle, FSH levels should be between 3 to 9 milli-international units per milliliter (MIU/mL).Luteinising Hormone (LH)Role: Also produced by the pituitary gland, LH regulates the menstrual cycle. The surge in LH triggers ovulation, releasing the mature egg from the ovary.Optimal Levels: On day 3 of your menstrual cycle, LH levels should be between 2 to 12 MIU/mL.Estradiol (E2)Role: This form of estrogen is produced by the ovarian follicles. It regulates the menstrual cycle, prepares the uterine lining for implantation, and develops female secondary sexual characteristics.Optimal Levels: On day 3 of your menstrual cycle, estradiol levels should be between 25 to 75 picograms per milliliter (pg/mL).ProgesteroneRole: Produced by the corpus luteum in the ovary after ovulation, progesterone prepares the uterine lining for implantation and supports early pregnancy. Low levels can lead to luteal phase defects, affecting fertility and pregnancy maintenance.Optimal Levels: In the luteal phase, around seven days post-ovulation, progesterone levels should be greater than 10 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL).Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH)Role: Produced by the granulosa cells of the ovarian follicles, AMH is a marker of ovarian reserve, reflecting the remaining quantity of eggs. Higher levels indicate a greater number of remaining eggs.Optimal Levels: For women in their mid-30s, AMH levels should generally be between 1 to 4.0 ng/mL.Additional Resources:If you have concerns about your fertility or hormonal levels, visit your GP for essential blood tests. For more personalised advice and support, DM me on Instagram at @fitness_fertility. Read the full show notes: https://www.draimee.org/what-if-your-amh-is-wrong Ever wondered what the heck AMH stands for? It's been a hot topic recently, as women are getting their AMH levels tested. AMH is short for Anti-Müllerian Hormone – a nifty little hormone secreted by the egg-surrounding cells in your ovaries. Think of it as a fertility fortune-teller with a murky crystal ball, giving you some valuable clues into your egg stash. The funny thing about AMH is that I also like to call it the “Always Meandering Hormone,” because your AMH levels can wander month to month and year to year. Does a low AMH mean you're out of eggs, or going to have a difficult time getting pregnant? Not necessarily! And a high AMH doesn't guarantee you'll have an easy time getting pregnant . Remember, it's not the be-all and end-all of fertility assessments. That's why you might get different AMH readings depending on when you test. And, it's also why I like to test FSH and Estradiol levels in addition to AMH to get a full picture of a patient's fertility levels. Today on the blog, I'm doing a deeper dive on AMH, and what you need to know about it. I've had too many people question if their AMH is wrong, and what that means for IVF, and so I wanted to share all my thoughts with you. So, don't go scheduling weekly AMH check-ups like they're brunch dates. Remember, it's a slow and steady decline, kinda like the plot twist in your favorite rom-com. So, keep calm and check your AMH when needed – no need for monthly updates, folks! Bottom line? Get the deets on your AMH, craft your game plan, and remember, fertility is a journey, not a sprint!
Have you ever watched videos of cute babies online and then you start getting "baby fever"? And I believe that one of the monumental moments in our elementary education years is when we start learning about the actual process of this baby fever: "sexy time." As our guest described: "romantic" and "between sheets." However, there are instances when this activity does not result in the baby that the intending people wanted. According to the NIH, in the United States alone, approximately 9% of men and 11% of women of their reproductive age have infertility problems that imbue difficulties in the conception of a baby. Is there no longer hope for these partners to build the family that they have always dreamed of? Are there possible alternatives still available to them? There is no better person to ask these questions than the expert in the reproductive field: board-certified fertility expert physician Dr. Serena H. Chen.Receiving her bachelor's degree in Biology from Brown University in 1984, attaining her medical degree from Duke University in 1988, and completing her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in 1992 where she also fulfilled her Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility fellowship in 1995, Dr. Chen now stands as a fertility specialist and reproductive endocrinologist at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and IRMS Reproductive Medicine in New Jersey. Beyond this, she also served as a clinical associate professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and St. George's University School of Medicine. With Dr. Chen's three decades of experience, we go into a deep dive into all things fertility and reproduction: the menstrual period, PCOS, infertility, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian reserve, Anti-Müllerian hormone, egg freezing, medical surrogacy, in vitro fertilization (IVF), LGBTQ+ family planning, and safety of vaccines for pregnant people.
