Carl is trying to bring solutions into the divorce/family court process where a case shouldn't drag out for years, but only 30 days. There are so many homicides and suicides that are perpetuated by the Family Court system as well as CPS. Carl shared his ideas on the screen (Slam the Gavel YouTube) that contain solutions. In doing presentations, Carl discussed his ideas and solutions and was met with silence. The path to restoration, justice and family healing is what Carl has to offer people that are divorcing and it seems the judiciary/family law doesn't want any part of it. Because of lack of accountability, oversight and transparency the court system is in the state it is in. For instance here are 3 national judicial organizations. Also, everyone should tag relevant state government departments, agencies and policymakers within each. We need to stop just preaching to the choir and to make sure the policymakers are seeing and hearing our pleas for change. You'll have to research each group/person on each platform to see how you can tag them. On her LinkedIn profile, Natalie Knowlton describes her work as “succession planning for an outdated legal industry.” It is an apt description for someone who has spent her career studying reform of the U.S. legal system — and particularly now, as she launches Access to Justice Ventures, a think tank devoted to reinventing the legal system to provide justice for all by eliminating systemic barriers. For the past 14 years, Knowlton has been at the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System at the University of Denver, most recently as director of special projects, leading the organization's work in family justice and regulatory reform, and where she remains an advisor on regulatory innovation. But she is now devoting the majority of her time to her new think tank, which she is launching together with Zack DeMeola, who was previously director of legal education and the legal profession at IAALS (and who was on an episode of this podcast last year discussing reregulation of legal services), where their immediate focus will be on reforming the rules that regulate legal services delivery to allow broader classes of providers. Even if you aren't interested in the Sovereign Citizen aspects I took the opportunity to give a broad and comprehensive treatment of American Jurisprudence. This video works well for anyone as a primer to the aspects of the American legal system we should all be familiar with (but which, thanks to American politicians and as a consequence of enacting the Department of Education & long ago removing civics from the public school curriculum) this is information that is commonly poorly understood. There may be no more critical issue facing the legal profession than reregulation of legal services. Amid an escalating crisis in access to justice, proponents of regulatory reform argue that the only way to meaningfully address the crisis is to loosen restrictions on non-lawyers investing in and providing legal services. So critical is the issue that GPSolo, the magazine of the American Bar Association's Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division, has devoted its most recent issue to the topic, assembling a roster of contributors who are among the nation's leading experts on regulatory reform. Most of his teaching experience before coming to Pace in 1977 was at Fordham Law School, but he also taught at Brooklyn Law School and as a visiting professor at the University of Illinois and the University of Hawaii. He has authored a number of articles in the areas of property law and professional responsibility, as well as computer-assisted instruction programs for first-year property students. He serves as chairman of his community Architectural Review Board, and was active in the preservation of the 22,000 acre Sterling Forest, at the edge of the NYC metropolitan area. Scott talks about his recent attendance at a conference sponsored by the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System where the subject was the future of law schools and the legal system. While there were some positive moments where there were discussions about making law school more client-centered; using apps to increase access to justice; and teaching leadership in law school. However, there was a lot of talk about meeting the needs of the unrepresented without any solutions that would help lawyers make that financially worthwhile. Oscar brought up that President Obama’s Student Loan Forgiveness Program has led many new attorneys to get involved in public service; a similar idea geared towards helping the under-represented could work to bridging this gap. The podcast hosts point out that until law schools and those in academia take note of the many lawyers that are not making a living, a credible solution to filling the gap will not be found.
